Doctor Natalie Matthews and staff were absolutely wonderful, loving and caring, in the medical care they provided to both of my dogs. I have used this boardung facility many times in the past and no problems. This time my dog came home with matted fur balls and ticks. I had to take him to my vet for an acute condition and ??ear infection. While waiting on the Dr., a tick fell off on the floor, alive and crawling. Another thing,the Key City staff waited until I was dropping my dog off to tell me that my dog needed the new H3N2 flu injection in order to board there,and return 3 weeks later for the continued series of injections. I understand it was for safety BUT even after they called me to confirm and while on making the reservation they said he was good on immunizations, I was thoroughly upset; i don't live in Abilene. I could have had it done by my own vet but I had NO CHOICE at this time because I needed the boarding. It was very, very UNPROFESSIONAL and unfair to me. I felt manipulated at that point. We presented requesting an x-ray which they denied, but instead ordered blood work (to be sent to A&M) and other tests, allowing us to invest $1000 in care of our terminally ill kitty.  Then on the follow-up visit, finally did the x-ray as we originally requested, which is all we would have needed because there the tumor was found.  Additionally, two separate times I called to give a condition report, and could not get a vet to return my call!!  Wow.  I will never take another pet of mine there.  They obviously care more about running up your bill than about your animal! My husband and I had another dog when we first started going here probably eight years ago, and we really liked/like Dr. Amanda, and the staff they had on hand at the time. especially Becky Scheible!Eventually Abigail passed away but she was very well taken care of by Dr. Amanda and the staff during her final day at the clinic.  so then when we got another dog,  we also went there.They had a few different staff members but they are still friendly and still helpful and Dr. Amanda is still wonderful!!  But their prices go higher, and not only do they charge for the shots, the tags,whatever you need, but there's also an office visit which is costly.I understand there are different doctors at this clinic so there needs to be a fee, but maybe that could be lowered along with some of the other prices for services. I do have to say however I was not impressed with the back area where they keep the animals.  It is a little cramped.  well actually it's very cramped, and a little smelly. Only used them for my cat to get spayed. I wasn't pleased with the way it was ran. Didn't tell me much before she went in for surgery. Charged for every little thing. I won't be recommending them to anyone.Read Less

I had never used this vet until one day my shih tzu was attacked my our neighbor dogs, frantically I drove to the closest vet I could find and asked for help in tears. They immediately took my dog in to try and save her life. Unfortunately her injuries to too severe and she couldn't be saved. The lady at the desk said it would cost X amount of money but at the time I didn't have any and my husband was just coming back from an out of the country trip. I offered to go to base to get his credit card, and I apologized but I was a mess, but they waived the fee, and consoled me. Never have I gotten such amazing service or kindness from a business that I didn't even pay for. How anyone can not love this clinic and its staff is beyond me. We have used them for our pets from the first day we moved to Abilene. We have shared tears and laughter and hugs with these folks. Their high level of care and concern are why we continue to use them even though we have moved some 50 miles away. They are by far the best Vets that we have ever used and we highly recommend them. THIS PLACE IS A JOKE!!!!I HAVE A 18 YEAR OLD CAT IN KIDNEY FAILURE,WELL MY HUSBAND TOOK HER ON A FRIDAY AT,11 AM AND THEY SAID"YOU HAVE TO HAVE A APP''.,SO THEY MADE ONE FOR 2PM THAT DAY,WELL AT 2 WE WERE INFORMED IF SHE NEEDED A IV THERE WASNT A VET THERE,AND SHE COULDNT STAY ALL NIGHT,AND SHE NEEDED TO BE SEDATED,THEY COULD HAVE TOLD US THIS AT 11 PM,ITS HARD TO GET A VET ON FRI,AFTER 5 YOU CANNOT....SO I DONT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING,YOU COULD NOT PAY ME TO EVER TAKE MY PETS THERE,ILL STICK TO DR.ELLIS HE IS GREAT,KEY CITY WAS CLOSE IS WHY WE RAN THERE!!! Our cat suffered a injury cut on Wednesday Feb 15, 2012 around 5pm. We called this Vet clinic, which we've been using for 6 years now, to let them know about our cat's situation. They said to bring him in. We drove over, went up to the counter and we were told that they needed to see if they would take him. We immediately were surprised and concern with "take him???". They said to bring him in!!! Next thing, the young lady at the counter, oblivious to common sense, said that they would only exam him and send us over to the emergency clinic. What? Young lady at the counter said that they did allowed a time to bring him in, but it was close to 6pm (5:35pm) and our allowed time had passed. We immediately asked if they accounted for getting in the car and driving here! Young lady; "I'm just telling you what the Vet said". Hello? Did you guys didn't account for drive time? We weren't thinking to call Air Flight to bring the cat over! All in all, no help, no care, and the service of "oh well". The service we received was absolutely poor and inconsiderate.
