So I adopted and brought home a gorgeous female GSD puppy, but like all puppies I already knew there might be some hurdles/obstacles to face... so I proceeded to bring my puppy to Sayers in hopes to get her on the right path to perfect health. First interaction was great with the staff and Dr. Whippo as they were warm and very welcoming. My fur baby got her meds and shots as prescribed, and was informed after a fecal test that she had hook worms(which I was told is common for puppies). So after a day or so my puppy was experiencing diarrhea and throwing up some wet food that we had given her, and we proceeded to contact Sayers so we could get her checked up to make sure everything was alright. We brought her in early in the morning because it was a work day and was informed since it was a follow up that it wouldn’t cost us anything unless something was seriously wrong. At reception the employee said that she liked good and not like a parvo puppy. So in good spirits and optimism I left my puppy there. After a few hours I get a call that I needed to pay an over $150+ dollars to run a parvo test because she was experiencing diarrhea, which originally was deemed unnecessary because hook worms can cause it. After declining that said she was not welcome there anymore and was now not called by her name and was referred to as “IT”. Once my girlfriend was able to make it to pick her up, she then was forced to sign a release waiver for and pay $56 dollars for them watching and cleaning up after her, but when she got to our puppy she was covered in feces and laying on top of a well soiled towel and was informed “IT” didn’t want to eat or drink anything. So it was apparent that they didn’t clean up or care for her while she was in their facility all because we declined the test they suggested. Once my girlfriend got our puppy home she bathed her and proceeded to prepare her food which she ran to and gulped down water like she hadn’t eaten or been offered food/water all day long. I HIGHLY ADVISE AGAINST ANYONE GOING TO SAYERS... they are money hungry and extremely disrespectful.
FYI: our puppy is now over 2 months old and in amazing health and growing beautifully. Read Less

Probably one of the worst experiences ever with this place. All they want is your money and will try to convince you to run unnecessary tests on your fur baby . They tried to make us believe our pup had parvo only because she had diarrhea (it was the hookworm medication), wanting us to pay a ridiculous price for a parvo test. We had left our pup there for the day because it was a work day, once we declined the test they’re demeanor completely changed, wanting us to pick up what they referred to as an “it” our pup ASAP because they didn’t want to watch her, when we had already discussed we couldn’t go for pick up until after work. They charged me $60 for cleaning up after her, I could hear my puppy howling and crying from the front, they wouldn’t release her to me until I signed a form that we turned down a recommended service & that our puppy might die. When I get escorted to the back our puppy was in a kennel with a towel covered in feces that looked like it was there for hours. If they had “cleaned up” after her all day that wouldn’t have been in there. I asked if she ate or drank anything and they told me that she wouldn’t, which “is another symptom of parvo” & kept going on how I’m going to have my hands full with a parvo puppy. As soon as I get home and set her in the bathtub, she’s drinking water like crazy and scarfed down food afterwards & is perfectly healthy....DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE! Read Less

There are not enough good things I can say about Salem Sayers! I found a stray kitten (four days old) and Sayers has taken care of her since day one. They provided me with bottles, formula, bottle cleaners, and of course advice. They have taken care of all of her vaccines and they spayed her 1 day ago. They went so far as to call to make sure she was feeling okay today. I asked if I could send a picture of the incision spot to someone with a smartphone and without hesitation the lady gave me her personal cell phone number and called me back immediately just to say if she keeps licking the incision wound to bring her in for a collar. Did I mention they let me borrow a carrier, too?! After her surgery they let me use one of their carriers and just asked that I bring it back within a few days. This clinic truly cares about your animals and is very compassionate, also they are VERY reasonable with their pricing which I really appreciated.

Read Less

We've had several bad experiences at this animal hospital. They all concern the Vet's Assistant( the tatted up one with pink highlights). She is domineering and rude. Every time we attempt to ask the Vet a question about our dogs, the "Assistant" would intervene and answer for her. She was also very rough with our dogs. The last straw came when she cussed at our black lab. Our dogs are terrified to go in there. So, we found a new vet. A place, where the people that work in there actually like dogs.. Read Less

I am so impressed with the wonderful people at Sayers Animal Hospital. They are kind, friendly, knowledgable and fantastic to my three dogs and me! Not like any vet I have used in San Antonio for the last 30+ years. Prices are very reasonable and they take time to check out your animal thoroughly. Sending my daughter and her animals next week. If you need and want a great place to take your beloved pets - this is the place to go! Highly recommend! Read Less
