After undergoing her spay surgery at the "Spay & Neuter Center" in Allen, my cat, Tiny, developed an infection and a 104 degree temperature. I decided to call a full-service vet to have her seen immediately, and Allen Vet Centre was the closest one to my house. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I knew my cat was in an emergency situation, so I didn't have time to be picky. I was delighted with how they offered a treatment plan in addition to the ambulatory care that she needed. They were clearly interested in her long-term progress, not just the immediate needs at hand. They helped us get the infection under control, kept her comfortable through the whole process and made sure I knew how to handle her aftercare without any ambiguity. I have been going here for about 3 years, and the vets and staff are awesome. They do a great job. The reason I am giving them a 3-star rating is because they are outrageously priced. I took my dog for his annual checkup last week, and walked out with a bill of $300+!!! I guess their senior package is $200... and I had some other small things (like nail trimming) that added up to over $300. For this reason, I will not be going back for shots or anything else. I have been using this vet's office for over 15 years and have not had any issues with their treatment of my dogs or cats. This include extended treatments for kidney failure for an elderly cat as well as weekly (and sometimes daily) cast changes for a rambunctious 10 month old kitten. This has also included saying goodbye to our pets with grace and dignity. The office is clean, the staff is friendly, and the fees do not seem out of the norm for veterinary service fees and medications. Read Less

My husband and I moved to Allen recently and decided to take out Bassets here and try them out since their old vet is a much longer drive. The vet looks for major health issues that don't exist within the animal. She gave us a huge scare, assuring us our dog has Lepto and worked up a treatment plan that was well over $1,000. We didn't agree with what the vet was saying so we took her to the vet she grew up with right away and got a totally different story, which ended up being accurate. They over charge (BIG TIME), conduct unnecessary tests ("We need to test her urine, but it won't tell us if she has it. We also need to do this other test but it won't tell us either. Due to the other two tests not telling us if she has lepto, we need to do this third test. You see, the first 2 are for kicks and giggles." not verbatim but basically) , and would rather treat than diagnose. (I don't know about you but I'd rather figure out what's wrong than throw pills down their throats and cross my fingers.) OH! The worst part of the visit! One of our dog's symptoms was drinking too much water, so of course the vet says she needs to give her subq water (shoot a needle into her skin and inject a lot of water). We knew it was only $30 to do so and we figured better safe than sorry so we said okay. They then took Bella to the back room and began. For what felt like forever we could hear Bella wailing and crying out being in so much pain. They didn't update us or say anything to let us know why she was hysterical but that was the hardest thing to listen to. Our poor baby girl was traumatized. :( We will never ever take any pets back here and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Read Less

They have seen my dog for both chronic issues and various one time issues and have always presented me with a variety of diagnostic and treatment options, allowing me to chose a path that fits my needs. After being seen for bigger issues the doctor has called to check in and see how he is doing. The desk staff is always very friendly and helpful. They have even walked me and my kids out to the car with umbrellas to help us avoid getting soaked by a pouring rain. Dr. Davis is our regular vet and I really like her. She seems to really enjoy her job and I trust her implicitly. I have seen all of the vets at one point and would recommend them all. This is a great practice. Read Less

Not for Cat owners!!! My cat was experiencing issues with blood in the urine (UTI). Took him in and they found nothing wrong, no crystals, stones, infection, etc. They put him on an antibiotic and pain meds. 2 days later I had to return as he was getting worse. They then took blood and did a urinalysis and stated they found nothing concerning, but gave him more pain meds and antibiotics and recommended wet food. Now one week later he was at his worst so we took him to a new vet. The new vet found he did have crystals and they had been cutting up the inside of his bladder, which made him uncomfortable and not eat/drink. Had he been diagnosed properly the first..or the SECOND time, he would be fine right now and not be incredibly dehydrated and weak. I am so disappointed and upset with them, although they were friendly, I feel for the amount of money I spent, they should have been much more thorough. Read Less

I just have to tell everyone about what an Amazing experience I had with Allen Veterinary Center today. I was referred to see them for my dog Polo who has been suffering with some joint issues as he is getting older. Everyone there was so kind and polite, we talked through the issue, we did x-rays and they explained exactly what was going on and how best to help him get better. I have been here for 4 years and I have tried a new Vet every year, but after coming here, I know I do not have to try a new vet the next time one of my dogs needs an appointment.Read Less

I love these people so much that I don't want to move away from the area. I have known Dr. Davis since 1985. Soon after that I met Dr. Osteen when both of them helped to take care of my beloved chocolate lab at my home while they were waiting for their own clinic to be built. I find everyone there to be so helpful and welcoming no matter what is going on in my or my dogs life. They have taken care of 1 cat and 10 dogs of ours. My dogs LOVE going to "see the girls". They have all been there for us when we were in dire need of help. You are not going to find better help and expertise anywhere! If I were giving them stars, they would get the top score of 5! They are a great place. They took care of my dog when she had an adverse reaction to medicine. They continued all through the weekend with phone calls to make sure she was doing better. I could not ask for a better vet for my dog. Dr. Lass is very nice and you can tell she loves being with animals. The office staff is very nice and they work with you on times for you work schedule.
