Had a scheduled visit for my dog well in advance. Walked in and stood right in front of the desk with no one in front of me with no acknowledgement at all for about 15 minutes. A simple "I'll be right with you," is what every business does. If you schedule an appointment just know there's no guarantee of when they'll see your animal. Have the rest of your day freed up. I do not even know where to begin on how great this place is. About 10 months ago my 10 year old black Lab swallowed a lacrosse ball without us knowing. He got quite sick and has never swallowed anything like this before... They were able to do emergency surgery and save my dog. Fast forward to the last two months and my lab started to get very sick. The doctors worked very hard to beat the illnesses and never gave up trying to make him healthy again. Last week, we made that final decision that he had been through enough and now it was time. We texted Dr. Coffman on his day off to thank him for all he had done and to let him know we were at his vet to say goodbye to our furry friend. He came in on his day off to personally meet us and comfort my lab in his last moments. Dr. Coffman is probably the compassionate doctor / vet I have ever met. You cant go wrong here. My boxer-mix has problems with her ears so we had to bring her in today. The staff is very friendly & knowledgable. She had an ear infection, so they swabbed her ears, gave her a steroid shot, gave us drops to clear it up and cleaner for after its healed up. They even gave us an extra bottle of cleaner for free.This is the 2nd time we've been to this clinic and we will continue to bring our pets here. Read Less

I just got back from this vet. I wanted to share my experience. First of all, the reviews are correct when they state that the place is dirty, disgusting and smelly. I also had a rather long wait time. I'm hoping in the near future they will move to another location. HOWEVER... we had Dr. Anna as our vet and she was super gentle, sweet, kind, nice and spent a lot of time answering my questions and explaining everything in depth and in detail. She charged me for a brief visit, with antibiotics and pain meds for my dog and the total was $54. I could not have asked for a better visit with the vet. If you can get past the exterior flaws there's at least one vet who really cares and is knowledgeable. Read Less

I wanted to love this place since my Mom has brought our dogs to them for years. When my wife and I got our first dog together from a local shelter, I decided to try them out. I've heard Dr Coffman is great from my family, but I only had an experience with Shiplov, and it was horrendous.I had a coupon from the shelter for a free spay for my new rescue dog, and I was told over the phone when booking the appointment that they would honor it. I waited the amount of time they recommended after her last heat to make the appointment, and brought her in.When checking out, I was told the charge would be in the hundreds of dollars. I was confused, and they explained that they don't accept shelter spay coupons anymore. I asked to speak to one of the vets, and Shiplov came out.I could tell he was on the defensive the moment he walked into the waiting/checkout area. I explained that he had told me they would accept the coupon, and he very quickly escalated into a verbal tirade about how they never end up getting the money from the shelters and accused me of bringing my dog in pregnant for a spay (completely untrue). This was all very aggressive, loud, and in front of customers in the waiting room as well as the admin staff.I stayed calm despite his yelling, explained the situation from my perspective, and eventually ended up paying the total. Afterward, I got in touch with Dr. Coffman, who agreed to refund me (the reason for 2 stars instead of 1). I received a check for the full amount, but then continued to get invoices in the mail with an outstanding balance for months.If you do decide to go here and give your money to a business that allows this kind of bullshit, do yourself a favor and avoid Shiplov. I want to thank the Vets, the techs, and all the girls at the front desk for the care and kindness they showed us and our dog Reggie...when it was time to put him to sleep they did not take lightly what it would mean to us and when their advice was its time..I trusted them because they gave him almost two extra years of a good life when we first brought him in with Kidney disease. I can not even begin to adequately describe how wonderful this veterinary hospital is. I rescued the most adorable little teacup Persian cat, but unfortunately he was bred with a ton of genetic defects and diseases. None the less, we loved him very much and thanks to Dr. McAnally, Dr. Shiplove, and Dr. Coffman, we were given a little bit more time with him when a terminal condition hit our baby. These doctors did everything they could to make our little one more comfortable and tried to prolong his life. They even let me sit from 7:30 am to 6:30 pm in the back office holding my little baby while he received IV drips, giving me both more time with my little guy and making him less scared because he was in my arms. No other vet in the world would ever go all out like that. Dr. McAnally gave me her cell # and check in on Cupcake frequently. She was an absolute pillar of strength during this difficult time. Dr. Mac even teared up at one point when I was crying because it had become evident that Cupcake's condition was not good. That is how much she cares. We are eternally thankful and grateful for everything the doctors and entire staff did during a very difficult time. I decided to check this place out based on such great reviews and I was more than satisfied with my visit! They were affordable and did not compromise the quality of care. I called to see if they had an appointment available for same day and they did. I arrived and waited about 5 minutes before being called into a room. I was in and out in 30 minutes! My toy poodle had a horrible puncture wound which they took care of right away. 2 days later my dog went from barely walking/standing to jumping on the couch. Dr. Coffman and Dr. Shiplov are quite simply the most amazing practitioners of veterinary medicine and humanity. I have been a client for over 8 years with 6 dogs throughout that time and they have saved my dogs lives over and over. Not only that their skills allowed two of my dogs to continue to live 6 years past a cancer diagnosis. I just lost two of my dogs. A pug at 13 and a boxer at 16. Without their amazing care they simply would not have lived that long. They are amazing, talented, compassionate and empathetic doctors and I cannot recommend them enough. On top of all of that their pricing for their services is the least expensive I have ever seen. Their walk-in hours have allowed what would have been emergency visits to just be routine check ups.Read Less

I have been using this clinic for many years and love not only Dr. Coffman and Dr Shiplov but the techs as well. They always take excellent care of my dogs and show the same compassion and care for them as they would their own. I have been a walk in with an emergency situation as well as having to make the terrible decision to let one go and both situations require extra time with a vet. I also understand how this can affect schedules but would expect any pet owner to recognize not all animals being brought in are for routine appts. Great clinic with awesome staff! Read Less

We have been bringing our pets to Allen Vet for over 15 years. We commuted from Dallas to Allen because of their overall care and cost of care. Not the case anymore..We had two sick little dogs last week at the cost of $270. Then returned with one of them who was still sick for a charge of $254. I have been coming here for 15 years and never spent this kind of money. On the return visit I explained I had just been there and what I had spent. Never once was I told what I was being charged. I did ask about the charge of blood work and was charged a higher price at check out. They said they would put a credit on my account. My dog has been here since Tuesday and picking him up today FINALLY! My poor baby had swallowed something and it was stuck in his intestines. Dr. Shiplov is an amazing vet! I have been coming to this vet for almost 18 years, the doctors are amazing and reasonably priced.The reception staff can be a little rude and unhelpful, but it does not deter me from going there as my dogs are always taken care of. I've been coming to this veterinary hospital for a few years now and love it. Dr. Shiplove is THE best! He truly has a passion for veterinary medicine and cares about the animals he takes care of. He's taken care of Toes (my 18 yr old brown tabby) the past few years and I love coming to him because not only does he find and fix the issue, he KNOWS how to handle pets and will always give you the best advice on what you should do with your pet. If you're in the area, even if you're not (I drive from Carrollton), I recommend this veterinary hospital because of him and the fact they don't charge you an arm and a leg for office visits or overnight stays. They truly care about the animals and want to help.A word of advice, I came here once as a walk in and had Dr. McAnally... NEVER AGAIN. I'm not quite sure how she got into this field because both my fiance and I did not like nor did we appreciate how she handled our pets. She was rough and downright rude. So we made it a point to ALWAYS ask for Dr. Shiplove. I've never had any problems with the other vets and how they handled our pets- just her.It gets 4 stars and instead of 5 because there is definitely a wait time, even if you schedule an appointment. I'm not too phased by it since it is constantly so busy AND packed. If you want your vet hospital to pamper your pet, this place is not it. You do get what you pay for. It is not the nicest facility (cramped, small kennels for the pets if they stay overnight), but it is a great facility (pricing) with some really great vets that care. Read Less

This is the very best vet in all of DFW! We got our first Cavalier King Charles Spaniel 2 years ago, & we were living in East TX, Tyler. My family lives in DFW & highly recommended me taking my pup here. I would drive from Tyler to Allen to get her check ups & shots, as well as her neutering. Dr. Shiplov is who we've always seen here, and he is just so awesome! Super friendly, sweet, and very easy handling my precious baby. The second most awesome thing about this vet center is the prices! Soooo much cheaper than most! We recently moved to Allen from Tyler, and are so happy to be living so close.... We have added a 2nd addition to our King Charles family, a 5 yr old male to have as our 2 yr old Cav's playmate. I just took them both in for their check ups, shots, & Heartworm meds, and once again, super happy with everything! Although we didn't see Shiplov this visit, the female vet (I forgot her name) was just as great! She recommended our boy to get a teeth cleaning soon, which I was shocked when she told me the cost....$100 for everything, anesthesthia & procedure! Not bad!!I was once again blown away at the total when checking out.... For BOTH of my dogs check ups, all their shots, and 6 months supply on Heartworm meds, $160. That made me happy! I stopped going to my previous vet because of how I was treated when we adopted our pit bulls. We had no issues during our visits with our previous dog (a pug). During my last visit, he made me go straight into the patient room because there was a lady scared of pit bulls in the waiting area. He then told me that pit bulls are aggressive in nature and it was just a precaution. I was shocked and upset that this is how he viewed this breed. I've never went back after this.A family member told me about Allen Veterinary Hospital. I've been taking our dogs there for over 2 years now. I have NEVER felt discriminated against because of the breed of our dogs. The staff has always been great. They are friendly, professional, and I trust them completely with my dogs. One of the techs there has a pit bull, and there is a painting of his dog hanging in the waiting area. They can get busy at times but we've never had to wait too long. I've also noticed a huge difference with the costs when compared to my previous vet. Their prices here are much more reasonable. We had to get a mass cell tumor removed from one of our dogs. I was very surprised at what we were quoted since I was expecting to pay hundreds more. Read Less

I moved to Texas 8 years ago and the first vet i ever went to was this vet. I LOVE THEM. They are so great. The vets actually have BIG hearts. They know what they are doing and i will never go to another vet. I have more than one dog and they all go here, and they don't mind going either. They race to the door and can't wait to get in the office. All the vets and all the staff here are just GREAT. I love this place and will continue to go here all long as i have dogs. Oh and by the way they don't want to retire on your money. They are very reasonable. Give them a try, they are very good to you and more important to you beloved pet. Read Less
