I am only rating my experience with the front desk. I just moved from California and this vet is the perfect location from our house. I took my dog to see a vet because I noticed something wrong with her. I explained it to the person at the front desk and she explained I would have to come later because they have full appointment. I asked her if they do not usually accept walk ins and she was about to kindly explain, when the person behind her suddenly interrupted our conversation and said our appointments are full you cannot see the doctor right now. I was trying to ask if it is their usual policy to not accept walk ins. Her interruption was so abrupt and she sounded annoyed and her face was stone cold. I will have to see if the doctors or okay because I am mainly paying for their service. Do not be rude to the potential client who is just trying to verify walk in policy because it is his first time visit to this particular vet. I know it is thanksgiving week and doctors have taken vacations and they have shortage of staff. I was just trying to verify their policy for walk ins during usual business days. You should stay home at not come to work if you do not feel like working that day and cannot put your smiley face at the front desk to greet customers and explain your policies and general questions. If you are a supporter of pet adoption -- this is not the practice for you.While I have no doubt this group is capable of first rate care, my experience with a recently adopted Plano rescue dog was not positive.  Here are the details:The check in for my scheduled appointment took twenty minutes. Dr. Wilson's "exam" was about ten minutes.  After the exam the vet had a well-practiced lecture essentially informing me that his practice is unable to treat rescue dogs for any known common issues unless they are able to get a complete diagnostic work-up on the dog (approximately $550).  For example, his practice won't treat an otherwise asymptomatic dog for worms because he might have "diabetes or kidney failure."  He also claimed that shelters routinely mislead folks about the age and health of adoptable pets. I found this lecture to be at odds with the detailed documentation provided by the shelter vet and the general observable condition of an active and happy little rescue dog.  I did find the whole experience consistent with a practice that prioritizes making money.   And I don't think a practice that really cares about animals would have such a negative view of pet adoption. Boy its expensive, but I would pay it to them a thousand times over for what they did for us. My cat had a kitten stuck in the birth canal, and we all thought it was dead, and they managed to not only remove it and save the kitten without a c-section, but took very good care of my mommy cat, the newborn, and myself, as I was a hysterical mess. They worked with me kindly and spoke to me gently and as though I were a human being and truly wanted to help. They didn't do anything without explaining it to me clearly and worked with me about options, and worked quickly which was important. But most of all they saved the kitten that was thought to have died! It is worth the money, my baby was saved. They even brought me to the back to see the baby and mommy. So happy for this. They saved my cat's life when she was a kitten. When my brother found her, she was 6-8 weeks old and so weak from malnutrition and dehydration that she could barely stand. She was rushed to AHCC. They didn't know if she would make it, but they promised to do what they could. She was left in their care and they worked a miracle. That was 17 years ago and she's still doing well. Bc of their care, that little black lump of skin and bones grew into a healthy, tall, beautiful, 10 lb cat that means the world to me. I have AHCC to thank for that.Read Less

Most caring, thorough & professional group we've ever encountered.   We've taken our dogs to AHCC for 5 years & have never had a bad experience.  Dr. Little & Dr. Paine spend all the time necessary to help our dogs & educate us   The vet techs, assistants & office staff treat our dogs with love & have always been compassionate & supportive.  They helped us through the very difficult experience of having to euthanize Blue, our 16 year-old lab/blue heeler.  We'll always be grateful for the way they cared for Blue & for us.   I highly recommend them. He had happy tail and injured the tip of his tail. He then developed an infection, so the tail wouldn't heal. We ended up having to do surgery to remove the tail. They are the best.  My last vet was a nightmare.  Dr. Little and his staff, especially Sara, have been wonderful with me and my 'crew'.  They helped me through some very tough times with one of my dogs.  If they treated humans, I'd go there (I've been a nurse for 40+ years and have seen many 'human' doctors). How do you know you've picked a great vet? When the doctor and technician run 10 laps with your dog outside in 90 degree weather to check her heart rate after Dr. Paine, Dr. Little and Dr. Wilson have helped my fur babies each at some point from skin infections, surgeries, all the way to saying goodbye to my first rescue. I just moved to the Allen area and have four rescue dogs so needless to say, I needed to find a vet quickly. One of our tribe had an emergency and that's when we found Animal Hospital of Collin County. They were so helpful and compassionate and unlike some vets, seemed to care about smaller dogs. These guys are great. They have been here a long time and they know their business. We just received a 6 year old Golden Retriever and had her check up. Doctor diagnosed a yeast infection in her ears. He showed me exactly how to do it. I used to be a bit skittish about poking in a dogs ear but when you know how its easy. I'm fairly limited in my vet options because not many places take a look at rabbits since they're considered exotic animals. I absolutely love the animal hospital of Collin county because they're affordable and very gentle and sensitive when treating my bunny. Dr. Little always reassure me that if there are any questions or problems they are only one call away, and always thoroughly explain every step of whatever testing or procedure is being done so I'm more relaxed too. Great experience! I have a very neurotic dog and Dr. Little and assistant were so amazing with him! He usually cries and screams the whole time but he sat there like a champion. They even clipped his nails! In his 12 years, nobody has ever been able to clip his nails without him freaking out and causing them to cut too short and make the nail bleed! Dr. Wilson, Dr. Payne, Dr. Little, all vets, the entire staff, and everyone there has a deep love for animals and great people skills. They have been taking care of my numerous elderly and special needs dogs for 10+ years, and I will never go anywhere else. From knee surgeries, doggie cancer, congestive heart failure, "final visits", to routine ear infections and vaccinations, this is the single best veterinary clinic I have ever experienced. There's a reason they have been in business a very long time at the same location, and it's the outstanding people and veterinary talent that make this the ONLY place to care for your animal. I have also found their rates to be very reasonable, especially compared to other animal clinics in Collin County. They all do their work because they LOVE animals and they care about the people who also love animals. I've been taking my Lab here since I got him a year ago. They have been very sweet and always have treats for him. They do a really good job scheduling so that I never have to wait in the waiting room. As soon as I get there we are given a room. They have taken good care of my dog. This is the best Vet place in the area, I have tried vet locations in Lucas, East Allen, West Allen and Richardson.  This is the only place I bring all my critters now.  I can always get an appointment when they need to see a Vet urgently.  The office staff is super friendly and love animals.  The Veterinarians are very knowledgeable and through.  I was raised as a Veterinarian's daughter.  I helped him in his practice when I was young.  He has approved of the staff at Animal Hospital of Collin County!  Love this place. Everyone at this animal hospital is so caring.  We have been taking our pets, 2 cats and 2 dogs there for 5 years.  The receptionists are like family and so are Dr. Payne and Dr. Little.  Recently my cat Charlie stopped eating and I took him in... they were so loving and sweet towards both of us and put up with me crying in the office.. twice!  I am so grateful to all of them for helping me through the tough diagnosis and treatment of my cat, as well as the neutering and shots for our two dogs.  I highly recommend this vet! This is an amazing vet with an amazing staff.  I can't say enough good things.  The vet techs are knowledgeable, the doctors are great, and the environment is clean and quiet.  As a cat owner, it is important to bring them to places that aren't chaotic and this place is perfect. Everyone there is extremely compassionate and obviously love animals.  My wife and I have 3 cats and a few mice.  One of our mice got sick and they were kind enough to euthanize it.  They seemed to really care about the mouse's comfort and seemed genuinely sad.  A few days later, my wife and I got a card.  I think it's pretty special that they send a card, even for something as small a as a mouse.  It speaks volumes of their character. As a long time customer, my cats and I were ok with the place.  Once Dr Emily Roberts came, we were very happy.  After she left, we had another Dr that was nice.  And then, we got Dr Allen when I took in my cat that lost a lot of weight.  Bedside manner of a toad.  Wasn't very happy that visit but I thought it was because it was most likely diabetes that was wrong with my cat.  Called several times for the results because he wouldn't call me back.  Diabetes confirmed.  Took cat back up for an overnight visit to check his blood sugar only the cat was smart and wouldn't let them touch him so I got him back after 2 hours.  My problem?  I was told to put him on diabetic cat food and maybe it will cure him - about 50% survive without insulin.  It bothered me that I didn't get any education, no material, no nothing (well, except the cat food that I bought after being told it wouldn't bother the other cat).  Skinny cat stays skinny and other cat gets fat.  And they don't have any more cat food when I go back.  They'll order some and bless her heart, one of the receptionists (they were always very nice and friendly) gave me some canned food to get by.  I go up to pick up the food that was supposed to be ordered only - yes you guessed it - they didn't order it.  So 'we'll call you when it comes in'.  hah! And to be fair, the other receptionist was willing to give me more cans but the non-diabetic cat hates canned food.  But they were going to order and call me when it came in.  I find diabetic food at PetSmart only problem was they will only let me have 1 can this time without a prescription.  Hmmm first time I've heard about a prescription.  Did I get one from Dr Allen NOOO.  Was I angry?  YES.  Only when I went to another vet did I find out enough information about diabetes to make informed decisions.  That vet was able to draw blood without any problems (and I was in the same room at the same time so I saw it first hand).  I was shown how to give insulin shots and take blood from a cats ear.  I got all kinds of material to read. AND I got a prescription.  So now when I travel with the cats, I can get food for them.  And by the way, that is not good food to give a non-diabetic cat.  She gained 3 pounds in a month.  Not good.If they really didn't want to continue to treat my cat, they could have just said they didn't have the means to take care of him and that I should find another vet.  I wouldn't have thought a thing about it either because at least I would have known they cared about my cats.  Right now, I don't think they care at all and that's fine with me.  I found someone else for my cats and I'm pleased as punch. My family and I have been bringing our pets to Dr. Wilson and his staff for over 20 years. For the most part, our experiences have been just wonderful. The staff has been friendly and kind and the vets are knowledgeable and efficient. The rates are pretty competitive although we've heard that AHCC is much more reasonable than some of the other vets in Collin County.
