I went to alvin animal clinic for the first time with my dog raven yesterday and it was a great experience. The receptionist was very helpful when i called and had all the answers i needed on what to expect once i got there. When i went in for my pets appouinment we were greeted warmly and sat in the lobby area and had a great convertation with the other patrons waiting to be seen. The doctor anf nurses were splendid and took time to let my pet get to know them before grabing on and doing the scary stuff. I even witnessed how they handled a couple of more adgited and agressive dogs. They worked very cohesively together and made sure the hall way was clear and moved swiftly to ensure no confrontation was posible. My cat was mauled by a dog and had to have surgery. I took him here for observation for a couple days and ended up getting some laser treatment for his wounds. The staff were kind and efficient and got to me as soon as possible. My cat is fully recovered and back to normal Read Less

They were good initially, but things detoured to a downhill slide quickly with the office visits. The veterinarians were excellent over time, but the office staff was terrible this morning and it was my final breaking point. We were told a month ago to just bring our dogs back in for a follow up vaccine, and a vet tech would be able to do it without an appointment. The girl at the front desk got arrogant when we told her we didn't have an appointment, since we were told to just bring them in. She shouted "why not?" I explained what the vet told us, and she just replied "you're going to have a long wait, so be ready." I was dismissive of that time, just thinking one person's day wasn't going so well, but it got worse. The vet tech came out front to get my dog for the shot, then snarkishly said "you're not allowed back here with your dog, you need to wait out front." That was my breaking point. I was very impressed with Dr West and the staff here. Got home from work, called because my baby wasn't acting right  and they told me to come in and advised it would be a wait due to busy day and working Gracie in.  While I waited, Gracie was checked on, apologized for the wait due to sick babies before us, offered something to drink while I waited and the staff beyond kindness. Dr West, it takes a lot from me to be impressed but you could see in her eyes her love for her patients. Suggested laser treatment that I was skeptical about and thought would be expensive to my surprise affordable and I'm a believer of this treatment now. Alvin Animal Clinic, Dr. West and Dr. Hoffpauir are awesome and the nicest people EVER! Recently moved cross country and needed a new vet for my Dane and 3 cats. (soon to be 4!) They were able to accommodate all 4 of them in one visit and get them the check ups they needed, I was surprised at how little my final bill came out to. Since then I have called the front multiple times to ask questions about outdoor life here in Texas for my cats as well as about adopting the stray that has been hanging out around my back door. They are always super friendly, very knowledgeable, and provide the monthly flea and tick meds that we need at a super reasonable rate. Highly recommend! Read Less

I recently went to see Dr. Lori West, because I moved from CT. I was looking for a good vet that cared about my animals that also had a more of a holistic approach. I have found exactly that. She took her time to go over a few issues with my animals. I was seen right away  and she took her time to explain everything. I am very happy that I found a good vet for my animals and would recommend Dr. West and Alvin Animal Clinic to everyone. They are also very affordable which is nice when you are living on a budget. Everyone is very nice and very professional. They CARE about you and your pet. I would recomend them to everyone. I had to have my cat put down last year and it was very devastating. I have NEVER been so disappointed in a clinic before!! We made arrangements to have both out large breed dogs boarded at their facility one month in advance on the day of boarding I received a phone call 2 hours before dropping off my dogs saying they did not have cages large enough for my dogs. When asking to speak with the office manager I was informed he would call me back. Well it has now been a month and I have called 3 different times with NO return phone call from the office manager. The vet was wonderful and kind but the staff was completely incompetent!!Read Less

This place is great. I bring both of my dogs here and have never had a bad experience. My dogs are not the most social animals and they always do really well with them. I feel that they truly care about the animals they work with. They make sure you understand the proper steps to care for your pet. I will always bring my animals here. We had to put our sweet dog down that we had for over 10 years. It was one of the worst days and they were so caring and compassionate. I was so thankful for their kindness and how they treated me and my sweet dog. Everyone, from the person who answered the phone, to the front desk, to the vet and assistant, to another worker in the hallway, everyone was so amazing. And they sent us a sympathy card for our dog! My pit bull got into a bad fight with his son and his face got injured pretty bad. This was not the first time they got into it so I tried to treat his injuries with hydrogen peroxide and antibiotic ointment as I had done in the past. Well after a couple days, his cheek literally started to fall off. I called Alvin Animal Clinic and was able to get an appointment the same day. I felt as if I had let my dog down by not taking him in days earlier. Dr. Hoffpaur examined my dog and informed me that the skin was dead and was coming off as it should. She prescribed him some medicine for the infection and the pain, along with some spray to aid the healing. She let me know that recovery time should be about a month, but that I could opt for a low level laser treatment that could possibly cut the recovery time in half. I knew that with the damage (a literal chunk of his face missing), that he needed all the help he could get. I agreed to have the laser treatment done and it was administered over 5 additional visits. The visits were handled quickly taking an average of 20 minutes and the treatment definitely speeded up the healing process by 50%. Although I was skeptical at first, I can now say that the low level laser treatment was essential in the speedy recovery of my dogs facial wounds. I am very happy with the treatment and attention my dog received from Dr. Hoffpaur and the friendly staff at AAC. Thank you! Read Less
