We love Animal Health Care! The staff and vets are super nice and attentive to our several pets that we take to them. The only reason I'm giving them 4 stars is because the wait times are sometimes really long — probably because they are so busy and popular! Regardless of whether I come in for an appointment that’s been scheduled for weeks or coming in at the last minute due to an injury, the staff here have always treated me and my fluff ball warmly and with great care. LOVE Dr Rachel and her staff. She is wonderful, loves the animals so very much, and takes excellent care of each critter that comes through her door. She is honest, the prices are fair, and she does not try to get you to do stuff your pets do not need. My dogs have coming here from the day they were adopted. I would not take them anywhere else. Every time I think of this clinic I get upset. I took my 22 year old cat in for what I had figured was his last ride. After getting into the exam room the tech came in and tried once to remove him from his carrier and she informed me in no uncertain terms I was going to have to take him out of his carrier. More of the same when they wanted him in an exam apparatus and he fought it, once again it was left to me. Another tech came in and asked if I wanted tests run on him to make sure he was fading away. Buddy (my cat) was taken away and about 15 minutes later the tech came back and gave me the bad news. Up to this time I had not seen a DVM. Finally a vet came in and read the chart and left. Not a word to me. The tech then asks what I want to do and I make that horrible decision to end the life of a good friend. She asks if I want to see him before he's euthanized and I went back to pet him one last time.As soon as I get back to the exam room I am presented with my bill. I guess they think you won't pay after the animal is dead. Poor timing, poor taste and horrible business practices.I handed her my credit card which she wasted no time in running, it's the only thing she did in a hurry while I was there. I was left to cool my heals in the exam room for a long time. I finally went to see what was going on. My cat was laying on an exam table, still alive but sedated heavily. I continue to wait. I went back and my cat had not moved. Should anyone doubt this I have time stamped photos. The last person I spoke to was trying to sell me containers for Buddy's ashes. So for $250.00 I did have my Buddy euthanized but I wouldn't trust that place with a cockroach. This happened 26 April 2016 and I still feel the hate I have for that place. Read Less

Came here about a year ago to get my cat declawed and fixed. Decided to get blood work done while I was there. Everything came back fine, no problems with the blood work. When she came home after surgery she was tired and hiding like I expected. A few days later she stopped eating so I brought her back. They charged me $1000 to do "exploratory surgery" and she ended up dying from "cancer" which didn't come back in the blood work. They refunded me $300 thinking that that could some how make up for the loss of my best friend. Never coming here again! Read Less

Took my dog here since 2013 without any problems with any staff member. In Oct. 2016, took my dog in for cold laser. All communication was done through the vet tech only. I never spoke to Dr. Rachal. The tech said my dog needed an x-ray. I gave permission, went outside, came back into the reception area. The vet tech handed me my dog. I asked if the xray was done. She said "No", turned and walked away. I was clueless about what had just happened. No one spoke to me about it. I requested my money back and left. No one from the office contacted me after that. A week later, I called, spoke to the office manager, who was cold towards me on the phone. She had no response as to what happened. I never heard from Dr. Rachal or her staff after that.I had to try to find new vets who would examine and treat my 16 year old dog. I lost valuable time trying to get her health needs met and she died a few months later. This would never have happened under Dr. Dittrich's care. Read Less

Animal health care center is by far the best veterinary center that I've ever taken my pets to. Here, I feel like they genuinely care about me and my pet. I don't feel rushed, I don't feel like they're trying to get patients in and out. Nicole sat with me and my dog and listened to the issues my dog was having. She was so sincere. Be wary of having your time wasted. I show up early for an appointment and shown into a room and waited for 10 minutes. Then the tech comes in and tells me that the dog is scheduled for nothing but to talk to the tech about what we want to schedule an appointment for. So if you have to take off of work you will have to take off multiple times to go to this vet. I was very very very specific on the phone what we were coming in for. Why would anyone schedule an appointment to talk about scheduling an appointment to get sample flea medication for a dog??? I would not recommend the tech was rude as well . Read Less

I have a cat that's 8 pounds of feisty! I told the staff the bad experiences I've have with other vets and how my cat reacted to other vets' aggressive approach. Dr. Riley and her staff were able to vaccinate my growling feline. They were quite effective in not only getting everything done all at once, but also provided me with take home medicine. My cat couldn't have the fecal exam done because she was already irritated and upset, so they told me to just bring a sample from her litter box. Will definitely recommend to my friends. Read Less

I really want to give a 5 star. The doctors are wonderful! I am extremely picky, as I worked as a vet tech and trained reception for 15 years. However, the customer service sometimes is not great at all. If I am on the schedule, you shouldn't need to ask who I am. Greet me with enthusiasm. I'm going to tell others if I felt welcome or not. Expect me to ask questions and have an opinion. Be glad that I take an active roll in my pet's health and be happy to discuss these questions. That said, once again the doctors are outstanding! After 10 years of taking my pet there, I began noticing a negative change in the way I was treated. Never going back after the veterinarian was rude and totally unprofessional, talking about me in the hallway where I could here everything. She lacked compassion towards my pet and situation. Run don't walk away from this Animal Care Center! I took a foster who has grade 5/6 congestive heart failure for diagnoses. After bloodwork was done, they completely missed that he also suffered from Hypothyroidism. I had no idea but after I told Dr. Rachel we feed home made raw (including chicken and chicken organ parts, brocolli, carrots, greenbeans, apples, pumpkin, eggs, oatmeal, etc) she informed me dogs are omnivores, not carnivores. I guess where she shops they keep fruit and veggies on the meat counter. She also suggested blood work every 6 months, I was so unhappy I took him to my personal vet for a second opinion, we re tested him and found the thyroid issue, and my vet suggested blood work every 6 weeks so we can catch any changes and adjust his medications. Dr. Rachel gave him 6 -12 months to live. As a result of taking him to a knowledgeable vet, he is still here happy and doing well 21 months later. Had he remained in Dr. Rachels care, he would have perished long ago. Read Less

I waited 40 minutes in line to pick up my dog after surgery because an angry customer was disputing her bill. She should have been taken to another room and the bill handled privately. There were about 8 people behind me waiting to pick up their animals as well. Very unprofessional. Instead the waiting room full of people to pick up their animals heard every word, bad for business. Between my personal and foster dogs, this clinic has cared for 100's of my dogs over the years and I could not be more grateful for my experience with them. I know this is LONG overdue, about 20 years, but I would like to take the time and thank ALL of the staff at, in my opinion is the BEST vet office around, Animal Health Care Center of Arlington.  They have seen all of our babies, cats and dogs, from the little check ups to the very serious "I don't want to think abouts".  They have not only helped our babies, but have allowed me to cry on their shoulders, thanks Jaz and Dr. R, when the good Lord has called on our older babies, Buster, Zoe, Maggie, and Coco.  I can not thank them enough for all of the kindness and support. Twenty years ago, I found Dr. D's office when I was looking for a reasonably priced vet to neuter our male cat. Now, I come because of trust.  Believe me, I have tried other vets, only because I've moved 40 minutes away, but NO OTHER VET comes close to the quality of care and compassion that we receive at AHCC of Arlington.  Not only do we receive awesome care, the groomer is GREAT too.  She makes our Clyde look like the cutest little bear and Bonnie look like a sweet little angel.Thank you staff....for doing what you do.  (I know, LONG overdue, but better late than never.)
