I really liked bringing my pets here but I have one major issue with them: After bringing my two dogs here since they were puppies, I'm really fortunate to be able to pay for the best care for them. Right now, one of them is sick, and he's just my entire world. After spending a fortune on a diagnosis that is yet to come, when he wasn't feeling well this weekend I called the clinic at 9:00 on a Saturday morning and asked if I could bring him in, that he just wasn't acting right. Instead of saying, "we'll try our best to fit him in", instead, I was told to take him to the Emergency Vet Clinic. Where they don't know him, don't have access to his records, don't know his history, and charge twice the price. So I told them that I would come in and pick up all records for both dogs and find a vet clinic who actually care about ongoing treatment and the welfare of my dogs. I don't think I'm being unfair here. But I sincerely felt that the attitude just wasn't right.UPDATE:I was trying to be fair (and brief) in this review, but based on Dr. Mohammed's response, here is the rest of the story. We've been trying to find a diagnosis for my dog for the past month and a half, and have undertaken an extensive series of tests. My dog's regular Vet is Dr. Skiles, who has always taken excellent care of him. (Dr. Mohammed has been excellent as well, but has not been involved in his care). In my history with this clinic, I've always been the client who would bring in 6 Tiny Pies for the entire staff (which I recently did). I genuinely liked this clinic over the past 4 years. When I called with an emergency this past Saturday morning, the staff member on the phone was indifferent, unwilling to even ask one of the Vets about his condition, unwilling to even consider trying to fit him in, and too busy to get his records for me to take to the emergency vet that morning. Bear in mind, in a situation like this, I think that most people would be very anxious over the condition of their pet, and frustrated with an un-empathic drone on the other end of the phone. At first I was incredulous. Once it sunk in, I had told the receptionist calmly and matter-of-factly that if this was the attitude toward a longstanding client and patient in the middle of a complicated diagnosis, they could "go to h*ll". I requested that all records for both dogs be gathered together for my appointment this morning, as once I had found out the diagnosis, I would be going to another clinic. I apologize for telling her to "go to h*ll". It's not my usual MO, and there is no excuse for it. I'm sure that people can relate but still, I'm ashamed of it.Now...what Dr. Mohammed took the time to write below is complete news to me - I was entirely unaware that my dog was ever referred to another specialist due to this condition. One would think that after a month and a half, I would know that. One would think that I would have known the specialists's name, and that rather than wait with this clinic, I would have taken him to that specialist immediately. But here's what really happened, and the public may want to consider this should they find themselves in a similar situation: I brought my dog in this morning for this critical appointment, and was asked to leave before finding anything out. Allandale Vet Clinic said nothing about canceling the appointment, and this was the appointment to get updated X-Rays and find out the diagnosis that we've been waiting for a month and a half to hear. They were aware that he had not been feeling well on Saturday (hence their referral "just take him to any emergency clinic"). When I brought my dog in for the appointment, I waited in the waiting room and Dr. Mohammed - who is not my dog's doctor - and not Dr. Skiles, who is, came in to let me know that I had "abused" their staff on the phone on Saturday and that I needed to leave. There was absolutely no concern about my dog whatsoever. Dr. Skiles didn't even bother to appear. No concern about his condition, no recommendation on where to go, no questions about what happened on the phone. And now I see in writing that apparently his condition has been serious enough to warrant a specialist - something that was never told to me, there was never a doctor referred, and you can imagine how it feels to know this now. It is wonderful to know that this clinic will support its staff at all costs. Do I think that I was right in telling the woman on the phone to go to h*ll? Absolutely not. Do YOU think that it is right to not take any accountability for an ongoing diagnosis; to turn away a pet that is a longstanding patient in the middle of a crisis on a day when the clinic is open; to not have the time to provide records to take to the emergency Vet; to not make any referral to an emergency Vet; and then to literally ambush the client on the very day they've been waiting for - for a month and a half? Is THAT taking good care of and showing concern for your pet? Read Less
