We drive 70+ miles to have Drs. Farmer, at Animal Medical Center, treat our two dachsunds. We have closer options, but AMC’s veterinarians and staff provide excellent, reliable, and reasonably-priced medical care each time. Drs. Farmer personally call us to check on our pets, after procedures or medication changes. Never has any unnecessary treatment been recommended. We highly recommend Animal Medical Center for all veterinary needs.

I just moved, and now I live very close to this vet. I brought my cat in for a walk-in appointment at 1 because of strained bloody urination. Was told they do surgery from 12-2 and couldn't take walk-ins until 2. This obviously should be listed on the website... But whatever. I then took my cat to an emergency vet (Austin Vet Care @ Central Park) where they quickly checked him to make sure he wasn't blocked and then gave him an appointment at 3. At this point I figure I might as well try Austin Animal Medical Center again since they could see my cat at 2 and I wanted to establish this as his permanent vet.
So I drive back to this location. Where they are busy cancelling appointments because the surgery is running long. They say that I'll be seen first in line by 2:30-2:45. I decide just to stay and wait.
It's 3:20 and they are finally going to take us to a room when a vet tech comes out saying that the surgery is only half done. I've finally had it and get up to leave. There were 4 different nurses/receptionists and they didn't seem to communicate with each other at all. No on apologized for anything. When I said I was going to another vet, it was met with a "yeah, you should."
I literally cancelled an appointment at another vet because the receptionist told me I would be seen in 30 minutes. I've wasted half my day and my poor sick cat has been cooped in his carrier for 4 hours.
If you want your time wasted and disrespected come here.

I can’t speak more highly of Dr. Farmer and his staff. Everybody is more than willing to help, and they all have a deep love for animals. We’ve had some rough months with wayyy too many visits (after we adopted our second dog, there were some behavioral adjustments 😂), and we were always fit in last minute and welcomed with understanding arms. Dr. Farmer’s incredible bedside manner, knowledge and skill has blown me away dozens of times. Your pets will receive incredible care here, regardless of what that is!

We recently relocated from Chicago to Austin and chose Austin Animal Medial Center bc of it's proximity and strong ratings on Yelp. We forwarded both of our dogs vet records. Every time I interacted with the support staff, they claimed they didn't have any records and would need to conduct a full exam. I brought in one of our dogs for an issue a few weeks later needed heart worm preventative. They told me he was due for a heart worm test and I'd have to bring him in. When asked why they didn't do it on our last and very recent visit, the vet tech had no response. It seems there is a lack of efficiency in record keeping or lack of interest in knowing their clients, results in numerous visits and more charges for them. Additionally, they have been rude to my husband and I on numerous times when we called for various things. I informed the vet today of the challenge we've had with the staff and that we probably would not be coming back. His response was, "okay, sorry about that." Clearly the lack of client service starts with the owners. With so many great options in the Austin area for pet care, it's quite disappointing to receive this kind of poor service from someone you expect to be treating your four-legged loved ones.

My fiancé and I found a lost dog in our apartment complex. We called the number on the tag which led us to Austin Animal Medical Center. I reported the tag number and they said they would give the owner a call. 20 minutes pass by and I don't hear anything so I called AMCA back. The lady on the phone says they are going to call the owners as soon as possible. Ok, so let me get this straight. Someone has lost their dog , probably looking all over for it, you know the person who found the dog, and you're not going to call the owner right away with that information? Very disappointed and at least I know to never go to AAMC. For anyone who goes here and has a dog, I hope it never gets lost because AMCA is not in a rush to help you.

Back in early November I called them wanting to know about availability for christmas boarding and pricing. I was told that the cost to board my dog during Christmas is $25 per night. I went ahead and booked my dog, I called back in early December to confirm. GOOD thing I did because they said they did not have my dog on file for boarding and that I would have to pay a $50 deposit which I was fine with since that at least meant I had some proof that I made a reservation via my bank account. On the day I went to drop off my dog the price JUMPED to $40 a night. This is extremely upsetting when they went to give me the bill one of the front desk woman said to the other to make sure it was at the "right price". I can understand that it could be an accident of a new employee who got the pricing wrong but if thats so then you should call clients to let them know of the mistake and not wait til they walk in the day of drop off only to be forced to pay the new amount. Will never be bringing my dog back here again.

Horrible customer service. They do not know their own policies and misinform clients. When reserving boarding the first time I called I was never informed about a $50 deposit or a extra charge of $58 per dog before being boarded so my dogs can be "checked out". I called a second time just to confirm my reservation and that's when I was informed of all these extra charges and I needed to pay the $50 deposit so, I did. After realizing it would cost me to $779 dollars just to board 3 dogs for 4 nights in a low class boarding facility, I called to cancel and asked for my deposit back. Of course they said that was non-refundable and I was misinformed that it was. Horrible customer service, policies, and unknowledgeable staff. I am so glad these people will not be watching my dogs, they couldn't take care of a pet rock.

Supper happy that they accept walk ins! Staff is super chill and laid back, extra friendly and willing to answer questions. What I absolutely loved is that the actual vet Dr.Farmer, was not a straight in and out doctor. He did the exam and explained everything clearly. Super calm and professional. I will most definitely be coming back. From my prospective, for everything my puggy had done I did not overpay at all.

This is my regular vet.
It's affordable and smells like clean all the time. The doctors are fairly stoic, straightforward, get the job done, and work with your budget. That's exactly what I want and need, plus they'll:
- hold your dog for observation WITHOUT charging you $75.00/hour;
- will wait about 10 minutes after hours if you get stuck in traffic hauling ass to the clinic;
- offer senior citizen discounts and medication rebates;
- have decent customer service up front.
It may not look like much, but I wouldn't change much.
Only concern is estimates. Sometimes they give you one number and forget to call you with something they added (like a shot to stop your dog from vomiting) and don't tell you til you get back...but I guess that's one of the perks of being a pup parent.

After a less than stellar experience with a 24 hour emergency vet, who shall not be named, I brought my very sick cat to Dr. Farmer and his awesome staff. They were quick to accommodate us, and when I walked in, I saw smiling faces and felt a relaxed, unhurried energy. They treated me and my cat like rock stars!
Dr Farmer was extremely professional, friendly, he smiled, and I knew the minute he walked into the exam room, I picked a great vet. He figured out the problem, and for the first time in a week, my kitty was eating dry food again, and when time to pick him up, even went right into his carrier without my being there to coax him in. Contrast that with what the vet told me happened at the emergency hospital: the cat was so stressed in the exam room that he had to be put into an oxygen chamber. I can tell by just looking at this cat, how much better he feels, and I will be taking my other cat to him. I trust him and his staff completely!

I have been a client of almost 20 years with Animal Medical Center and can only say how wonderful they have always been through all the years with all of our babies! I have been through several pets having their lives care under Gregg and Loretta and their wonderful staff and have always experienced them giving the best personal care and concern to every one of our babies in their care. Our routine visits are always great and the level of their commitment and concern comes to the forefront every time there is an emergent care or end of life situation ~ and over the years I have had many of both. They personally make sure to follow up in the critical situations and their compassion is felt as if the care they give is to their own pet. I have referred many people in all this time and have not had one person who came to them not love them as I do! Their love of animals is obvious in their care and their efforts to make their services as price effective as you can find which is amazing when you have a menagerie! I genuinely know they want all clients to be able to afford the necessary services whether routine or not and have known them to always give a very thorough assessment and only call for the necessity of services in a situation with the pets absolute best care in mind. I could go on and on... Can not say enough about them ~ I'd drive across the state if I had to!!!

I am very surprised by the negative reviews here. My dog Oliver was in pretty bad shape after a scuffle with another dog. Two weeks later he is practically healed thanks to Drs. Farmer and staff. Everyone in the office is very friendly and personable. I found the cost of service fair and was pleasantly surprised when a follow up visit and a visit for suture removal was at no charge. Previous vet clinics I have used would charge at least $30 office visit each time you walked in the door! (Drs. Farmer, hope this does not give you any ideas to change your policy). ;-)I appreciate you all for that you did for Oliver and look forward to seeing you again for his routine care.

Unfriendly and unprofessional. Some of the staff was very nice, but when the vet and his assistant came in they didn't introduce themselves or have any bedside manner. When I asked a basic question about fleas I was left waiting at the counter for 10 minutes while the nurse checked-I could have googled it faster. I really hate to write a bad review but this place has never made me feel very valued or comfortable. I'd try somewhere else if you can.

Zero complaints. We have been taking our two pups to Animal Medical Center for a nearly two years now. The front-of-office staff is extremely helpful and I really appreciate the email and call I receive when my pups are due one of their regular vaccinations. One of my little ones is a bit stand-offish but everyone at this office takes great care of Hogan.I have only met one of the doctors Farmer but he is fantastic with both of our pups. The pricing is reasonable and they always make an extra effort to squeeze us in if there is an emergency. 5-stars, we will be using this office for a long time.

We've been taking our dogs to Animal Medical Center for 14 years. They have taken such amazing care of our pups during that time that we've stayed with them through 4 moves that took us further and further from their location. The Drs. Farmer are both amazing vets who really know their stuff and are so kind and personable. They've seen our dogs through so many illnesses and treated them so compassionately. Dr. Farmer knows so much about internal veterinary medicine, and he quite obviously keeps up to date with new research, treatments, medications, etc. He's saved the lives of our animals on multiple occasions. This year when it became time to put our 15 year old down, the amazing treatment our pup got went right up to the very last moments. They were so kind and gentle and compassionate. I really can't say enough good things about this place. A couple of years back they went through a dry spell with their front office staff, several of whom were a little rude and not very competent, but those people are no longer around, and their current front office staff is spectacular. We don't trust our animals to anyone else. My only wish is that they were open 24 hours a day because my dogs have knack for getting in trouble after hours. But I guess even vets need sleep sometimes.

Dr. Farmer was a great help to my cat's life extension. The staff has always been accommodating and I would highly recommend their services. They did a great job processing my fur-baby's (Patches) cremation via Rainbow Crematorium and they presented me with a beautiful box containing her remains. I will always be grateful for their services and help. I thank these two establishments for their professionalism with a touch of personal dignity.

My husband and I love AMCA and we take our 4 pets (3 dogs and 1 cat) there even though we live in Round Rock now because we trust Dr. Farmer (both of them) with our pets and we trust that they will do the right thing by our animals. We have never had a negative experience with AMCA and we have been there a lot of times over the last 7 years. I am always seen on time, I am always taken to a room upon my arrival. They are always prompt and efficient. I feel that they truly care about my "kids" and they are always willing to answer any questions that I have and explain things thoroughly.

Had to wait maybe 3 minutes before seeing the vet and he was awesome with my cat. Explained in detail what was going on with his eye. Sent me home with medication and a follow up appointment in a week. Came back one week later and Potters eye is almost cleared up! Turns out that it is more complicated than that and must be given on an empty stomach to work. Oops. The front office is chaotic and incompetent. I went in for one refill and left with a bag of three...and once you are out the front door, that unneeded medication is yours for life. Check your receipts and bag before leaving the desk! My most recent visit included: the vet recommended an ultrasound (forgot that one was done a week before), the instruction to continue a medication indefinitely (the script said 6 days), and utter confusion over my dog's gender. Do they read their own charts?Oh, and if you overnight the dog, be prepared with flea shampoo and a thorough bath. Your dog won't come home clean.Better yet, find a new vet, like me.

The doctor I consulted with was very calm, understanding, and to the point. The one I saw after my cat's cleaning was also helpful. The people in the front were very kind and great with my cat too. My cat Beauty is doing so well after her teeth cleaning. I've seen reviews other places, maybe those people just aren't up on to the Yelp train! The front staff is welcoming and well-informed. The doctors are upfront, honest, and very good at what they do. This place was reasonably priced for all services, especially dental. Another place I used to go to quoted me 700+ and wanted to take out multiple teeth. At Animal Medical Center, a cleaning it was under 225 and they will wait and see if one needs to be pulled, what a relief! My old vet is out and these guys are in! Thanks Austin Medical Center for being so good with my pet, and me. :) They seem to have been around awhile. To me that is better than some fancy new snotty place that overcharges me and makes me feel bad for not having hundreds to spend on tests the "think" my animal needs. It's like a local kind of environment I figure most people can understand and be comfortable in.

We brought our cat in because he stopped eating and was throwing up bile. They treated him for an infection and released him two days and $800 later. But he never starts eating again. We try to contact the doctors to find out more information - details on the type of infection, possible causes, signs that he needs to come back, etc. The (rude) woman who answered the phone took 15 minutes to find his chart, only to tell me she had no information. When I asked to speak to a doctor, I was told that both doctors were out for the entire weekend. We get a call back on Monday and are told that it's normal for him to have no appetite. We continue calling every few days, leaving messages, only to get calls back saying it's all normal. A month later, we save up to take him to another vet, and within fifteen minutes they found that he had a blockage which would require a $3,000 surgery. We ended up at Animal Trustees, where the phenomenal Dr. McDonald was able to save his life with a $300 surgery. However, as soon as I told ATA about his treatment a month prior with Dr. Farmer, they asked the same questions I had never received answers to. Animal Medical Center never did an x-ray to check for a blockage (extremely common) or apparently even check in his mouth because Dr. McDonald found dental floss wrapped around his tongue that was preventing him from eating.Poor service, expensive prices, disappointing experience all around.

My 3 year old blue heeler had a serious infected dying tooth root in her gums (the tooth had come out on its own but the root was remaining and the vet I had originally taken her to had missed this completely!) so I brought her here. Dr. Farmer knew immediately that he was going to need to remove it, but just to make sure he didnt miss anything he did xrays on her. I was so happy with their service after paying $150 for another vet to send us home with a horrible infection- they were very friendly and very thorough. Dr. Farmer himself even called to update me on Tully's condition after finishing her dental surgery. The girls at the front desk are very friendly and helpful, too. They scheduled us promptly (within less than 24 hours) and helped us avoid the extra cost and extra stress of having to board my pup. I was thrilled with the quality of service that I received here and am going to recommend this clinic to all of my friends who own pets. I was so pleased that I don't even mind the drive from slaughter/manchaca. We are glad to say that we have found our new vet!!!

I just moved, and now I live very close to this vet. I brought my cat in for a walk-in appointment at 1 because of strained bloody urination. Was told they do surgery from 12-2 and couldn't take walk-ins until 2. This obviously should be listed on the website... But whatever. I then took my cat to an emergency vet (Austin Vet Care @ Central Park) where they quickly checked him to make sure he wasn't blocked and then gave him an appointment at 3. At this point I figure I might as well try Austin Animal Medical Center again since they could see my cat at 2 and I wanted to establish this as his permanent vet.
So I drive back to this location. Where they are busy cancelling appointments because the surgery is running long. They say that I'll be seen first in line by 2:30-2:45. I decide just to stay and wait.
It's 3:20 and they are finally going to take us to a room when a vet tech comes out saying that the surgery is only half done. I've finally had it and get up to leave. There were 4 different nurses/receptionists and they didn't seem to communicate with each other at all. No on apologized for anything. When I said I was going to another vet, it was met with a "yeah, you should."
I literally cancelled an appointment at another vet because the receptionist told me I would be seen in 30 minutes. I've wasted half my day and my poor sick cat has been cooped in his carrier for 4 hours.
If you want your time wasted and disrespected come here.

I can’t speak more highly of Dr. Farmer and his staff. Everybody is more than willing to help, and they all have a deep love for animals. We’ve had some rough months with wayyy too many visits (after we adopted our second dog, there were some behavioral adjustments 😂), and we were always fit in last minute and welcomed with understanding arms. Dr. Farmer’s incredible bedside manner, knowledge and skill has blown me away dozens of times. Your pets will receive incredible care here, regardless of what that is!

We recently relocated from Chicago to Austin and chose Austin Animal Medial Center bc of it's proximity and strong ratings on Yelp. We forwarded both of our dogs vet records. Every time I interacted with the support staff, they claimed they didn't have any records and would need to conduct a full exam. I brought in one of our dogs for an issue a few weeks later needed heart worm preventative. They told me he was due for a heart worm test and I'd have to bring him in. When asked why they didn't do it on our last and very recent visit, the vet tech had no response. It seems there is a lack of efficiency in record keeping or lack of interest in knowing their clients, results in numerous visits and more charges for them. Additionally, they have been rude to my husband and I on numerous times when we called for various things. I informed the vet today of the challenge we've had with the staff and that we probably would not be coming back. His response was, "okay, sorry about that." Clearly the lack of client service starts with the owners. With so many great options in the Austin area for pet care, it's quite disappointing to receive this kind of poor service from someone you expect to be treating your four-legged loved ones.

I reported the tag number and they said they would give the owner a call. 20 minutes pass by and I don't hear anything so I called AMCA back. The lady on the phone says they are going to call the owners as soon as possible. Ok, so let me get this straight. Someone has lost their dog , probably looking all over for it, you know the person who found the dog, and you're not going to call the owner right away with that information? Very disappointed and at least I know to never go to AAMC. For anyone who goes here and has a dog, I hope it never gets lost because AMCA is not in a rush to help you.

Back in early November I called them wanting to know about availability for christmas boarding and pricing. I was told that the cost to board my dog during Christmas is $25 per night. I went ahead and booked my dog, I called back in early December to confirm. GOOD thing I did because they said they did not have my dog on file for boarding and that I would have to pay a $50 deposit which I was fine with since that at least meant I had some proof that I made a reservation via my bank account. On the day I went to drop off my dog the price JUMPED to $40 a night. This is extremely upsetting when they went to give me the bill one of the front desk woman said to the other to make sure it was at the "right price". I can understand that it could be an accident of a new employee who got the pricing wrong but if thats so then you should call clients to let them know of the mistake and not wait til they walk in the day of drop off only to be forced to pay the new amount. Will never be bringing my dog back here again.

Horrible customer service. They do not know their own policies and misinform clients. When reserving boarding the first time I called I was never informed about a $50 deposit or a extra charge of $58 per dog before being boarded so my dogs can be "checked out". I called a second time just to confirm my reservation and that's when I was informed of all these extra charges and I needed to pay the $50 deposit so, I did. After realizing it would cost me to $779 dollars just to board 3 dogs for 4 nights in a low class boarding facility, I called to cancel and asked for my deposit back. Of course they said that was non-refundable and I was misinformed that it was. Horrible customer service, policies, and unknowledgeable staff. I am so glad these people will not be watching my dogs, they couldn't take care of a pet rock.

This is my regular vet.
It's affordable and smells like clean all the time. The doctors are fairly stoic, straightforward, get the job done, and work with your budget. That's exactly what I want and need, plus they'll:
- hold your dog for observation WITHOUT charging you $75.00/hour;
- will wait about 10 minutes after hours if you get stuck in traffic hauling ass to the clinic;
- offer senior citizen discounts and medication rebates;
- have decent customer service up front.
It may not look like much, but I wouldn't change much.
Only concern is estimates. Sometimes they give you one number and forget to call you with something they added (like a shot to stop your dog from vomiting) and don't tell you til you get back...but I guess that's one of the perks of being a pup parent.

After a less than stellar experience with a 24 hour emergency vet, who shall not be named, I brought my very sick cat to Dr. Farmer and his awesome staff. They were quick to accommodate us, and when I walked in, I saw smiling faces and felt a relaxed, unhurried energy. They treated me and my cat like rock stars!
Dr Farmer was extremely professional, friendly, he smiled, and I knew the minute he walked into the exam room, I picked a great vet. He figured out the problem, and for the first time in a week, my kitty was eating dry food again, and when time to pick him up, even went right into his carrier without my being there to coax him in. Contrast that with what the vet told me happened at the emergency hospital: the cat was so stressed in the exam room that he had to be put into an oxygen chamber. I can tell by just looking at this cat, how much better he feels, and I will be taking my other cat to him. I trust him and his staff completely!

I have been a client of almost 20 years with Animal Medical Center and can only say how wonderful they have always been through all the years with all of our babies! I have been through several pets having their lives care under Gregg and Loretta and their wonderful staff and have always experienced them giving the best personal care and concern to every one of our babies in their care. Our routine visits are always great and the level of their commitment and concern comes to the forefront every time there is an emergent care or end of life situation ~ and over the years I have had many of both. They personally make sure to follow up in the critical situations and their compassion is felt as if the care they give is to their own pet. I have referred many people in all this time and have not had one person who came to them not love them as I do! Their love of animals is obvious in their care and their efforts to make their services as price effective as you can find which is amazing when you have a menagerie! I genuinely know they want all clients to be able to afford the necessary services whether routine or not and have known them to always give a very thorough assessment and only call for the necessity of services in a situation with the pets absolute best care in mind. I could go on and on... Can not say enough about them ~ I'd drive across the state if I had to!!!

I am very surprised by the negative reviews here. My dog Oliver was in pretty bad shape after a scuffle with another dog. Two weeks later he is practically healed thanks to Drs. Farmer and staff. Everyone in the office is very friendly and personable. I found the cost of service fair and was pleasantly surprised when a follow up visit and a visit for suture removal was at no charge. Previous vet clinics I have used would charge at least $30 office visit each time you walked in the door! (Drs. Farmer, hope this does not give you any ideas to change your policy). ;-)I appreciate you all for that you did for Oliver and look forward to seeing you again for his routine care.

Unfriendly and unprofessional. Some of the staff was very nice, but when the vet and his assistant came in they didn't introduce themselves or have any bedside manner. When I asked a basic question about fleas I was left waiting at the counter for 10 minutes while the nurse checked-I could have googled it faster. I really hate to write a bad review but this place has never made me feel very valued or comfortable. I'd try somewhere else if you can.

Zero complaints. We have been taking our two pups to Animal Medical Center for a nearly two years now. The front-of-office staff is extremely helpful and I really appreciate the email and call I receive when my pups are due one of their regular vaccinations. One of my little ones is a bit stand-offish but everyone at this office takes great care of Hogan.I have only met one of the doctors Farmer but he is fantastic with both of our pups. The pricing is reasonable and they always make an extra effort to squeeze us in if there is an emergency. 5-stars, we will be using this office for a long time.

We've been taking our dogs to Animal Medical Center for 14 years. They have taken such amazing care of our pups during that time that we've stayed with them through 4 moves that took us further and further from their location. The Drs. Farmer are both amazing vets who really know their stuff and are so kind and personable. They've seen our dogs through so many illnesses and treated them so compassionately. Dr. Farmer knows so much about internal veterinary medicine, and he quite obviously keeps up to date with new research, treatments, medications, etc. He's saved the lives of our animals on multiple occasions. This year when it became time to put our 15 year old down, the amazing treatment our pup got went right up to the very last moments. They were so kind and gentle and compassionate. I really can't say enough good things about this place. A couple of years back they went through a dry spell with their front office staff, several of whom were a little rude and not very competent, but those people are no longer around, and their current front office staff is spectacular. We don't trust our animals to anyone else. My only wish is that they were open 24 hours a day because my dogs have knack for getting in trouble after hours. But I guess even vets need sleep sometimes.

Dr. Farmer was a great help to my cat's life extension. The staff has always been accommodating and I would highly recommend their services. They did a great job processing my fur-baby's (Patches) cremation via Rainbow Crematorium and they presented me with a beautiful box containing her remains. I will always be grateful for their services and help. I thank these two establishments for their professionalism with a touch of personal dignity.

My husband and I love AMCA and we take our 4 pets (3 dogs and 1 cat) there even though we live in Round Rock now because we trust Dr. Farmer (both of them) with our pets and we trust that they will do the right thing by our animals. We have never had a negative experience with AMCA and we have been there a lot of times over the last 7 years. I am always seen on time, I am always taken to a room upon my arrival. They are always prompt and efficient. I feel that they truly care about my "kids" and they are always willing to answer any questions that I have and explain things thoroughly.

Took my cat here for to treat an eye infection and everyone who works there are awesome! I was greeted promptly as was Potter (cat). Had to wait maybe 3 minutes before seeing the vet and he was awesome with my cat. Explained in detail what was going on with his eye. Sent me home with medication and a follow up appointment in a week. Came back one week later and Potters eye is almost cleared up! Thank you so much for your amazing supportive staff and I will be bringing all my pets here from here on out!!!

I have been here several times and am looking for a new vet. Dr. Farmer prescribes a medication for my dog and told me to give it twice a day. Turns out that it is more complicated than that and must be given on an empty stomach to work. Oops. The front office is chaotic and incompetent. I went in for one refill and left with a bag of three...and once you are out the front door, that unneeded medication is yours for life. Check your receipts and bag before leaving the desk! My most recent visit included: the vet recommended an ultrasound (forgot that one was done a week before), the instruction to continue a medication indefinitely (the script said 6 days), and utter confusion over my dog's gender. Do they read their own charts?Oh, and if you overnight the dog, be prepared with flea shampoo and a thorough bath. Your dog won't come home clean.Better yet, find a new vet, like me.

The doctor I consulted with was very calm, understanding, and to the point. The one I saw after my cat's cleaning was also helpful. The people in the front were very kind and great with my cat too. My cat Beauty is doing so well after her teeth cleaning. I've seen reviews other places, maybe those people just aren't up on to the Yelp train! The front staff is welcoming and well-informed. The doctors are upfront, honest, and very good at what they do. This place was reasonably priced for all services, especially dental. Another place I used to go to quoted me 700+ and wanted to take out multiple teeth. At Animal Medical Center, a cleaning it was under 225 and they will wait and see if one needs to be pulled, what a relief! My old vet is out and these guys are in! Thanks Austin Medical Center for being so good with my pet, and me. :) They seem to have been around awhile. To me that is better than some fancy new snotty place that overcharges me and makes me feel bad for not having hundreds to spend on tests the "think" my animal needs. It's like a local kind of environment I figure most people can understand and be comfortable in.

We brought our cat in because he stopped eating and was throwing up bile. They treated him for an infection and released him two days and $800 later. But he never starts eating again. We try to contact the doctors to find out more information - details on the type of infection, possible causes, signs that he needs to come back, etc. The (rude) woman who answered the phone took 15 minutes to find his chart, only to tell me she had no information. When I asked to speak to a doctor, I was told that both doctors were out for the entire weekend. We get a call back on Monday and are told that it's normal for him to have no appetite. We continue calling every few days, leaving messages, only to get calls back saying it's all normal. A month later, we save up to take him to another vet, and within fifteen minutes they found that he had a blockage which would require a $3,000 surgery. We ended up at Animal Trustees, where the phenomenal Dr. McDonald was able to save his life with a $300 surgery. However, as soon as I told ATA about his treatment a month prior with Dr. Farmer, they asked the same questions I had never received answers to. Animal Medical Center never did an x-ray to check for a blockage (extremely common) or apparently even check in his mouth because Dr. McDonald found dental floss wrapped around his tongue that was preventing him from eating.Poor service, expensive prices, disappointing experience all around.

My 3 year old blue heeler had a serious infected dying tooth root in her gums (the tooth had come out on its own but the root was remaining and the vet I had originally taken her to had missed this completely!) so I brought her here. Dr. Farmer knew immediately that he was going to need to remove it, but just to make sure he didnt miss anything he did xrays on her. I was so happy with their service after paying $150 for another vet to send us home with a horrible infection- they were very friendly and very thorough. Dr. Farmer himself even called to update me on Tully's condition after finishing her dental surgery. The girls at the front desk are very friendly and helpful, too. They scheduled us promptly (within less than 24 hours) and helped us avoid the extra cost and extra stress of having to board my pup. I was thrilled with the quality of service that I received here and am going to recommend this clinic to all of my friends who own pets. I was so pleased that I don't even mind the drive from slaughter/manchaca. We are glad to say that we have found our new vet!!!
