I have a rescue and he hates vets and groomers so when I take him to get his nails clipped he becomes a vicious dog. Vicious vicious vicious. He's only 19 pounds! So when I warn the vet's office they laugh at me but I reiterate several times. And Saturday when I took him in they took him to the back and they came right back with all his nails trimmed. The only vets we'll take our fur-kids - friendly staff, they remember you as you walk in and actually enjoy their work while playing with the pets. The vet found things even I had missed just doing a general check on my dogs while we were there to figure out if the whole bones swallowed were going to require surgery to remove. A thorough explanation of everything was given as well as options and how best to proceed. Dr. Brandes is great, as are the ladies at the front desk, and the medical assistants I met. Elbie was in for a checkup regarding some issues with his right eye, and everyone there was great. Including the awesome lady who gave me the "puppy starter kit" that normally only goes to young dogs. That included his first month of his insurance, which I'll be ordering for real sometime in the next week. Dr. Brandes has a wonderful rapport with animals (including my lovely 7 year old Beagle mix pup). We saw Dr. Tracy mainly and loved her. Dr. Brandes was also great. Both were very attentive to the little details that gave them clues about what was going on with our elderly Shelty-Border Collie mix, and they always looked out for our best interests as far as the continuing care of our dog and our budget. They were realistic about what kind of care would actually help him rather than testing for a bunch of small things that would prove nothing significant in the big picture. The staff at the front desk there was friendly to us every time, and the techs were always so loving toward our Fred whose anxiety measured off the charts regardless of the type of visit we would make. These people love the animals they work with, and we were always impressed with their care. I recently switched to Austin Vet Care at Metric due to the poor customer service and treatment of my pet at my previous veterinarian. I'm happy I did. The staff was helpful and courteous. They treated my pet like a fellow pet owner/animal lover would. The vet was easy to talk to and was very patient with my dog who is a bit of a coward when it comes to his appointments. Both Dr. Tracy and Dr. Brandes have taken excellent care of our two cats. While the staff can seem rushed at times because they are so busy, we have always had excellent service. I look at taking a pet to the vet in the same light as going to the doctor. You have to be proactive, be involved, and ask questions. I appreciate the calls to check up on one of our cats after a procedure like a dental cleaning. Thankfully I can get pet insurance through my place of employment so that helps defray some of the cost. As long as we are in Austin, we will use Austin Vet Care at Metric. Read Less

I've been going there for my dog for awhile, but my last visit will be the final one. The vet at Austin Vet Care claimed that my dog needed a very expensive extraction done; and when I consulted our family's very well respected vet, he said that first, I was being ripped off, and second they way overstated the necessity of the procedure. Our family vet cleaned my dogs teeth, and said that while the tooth was broken, if it wasn't bothering her that it would be years, if ever, that it needed to come out. He was very honest about the entire situation and didn't want to put my dog through an unnecessary and painful procedure for basically nothing. I would hope that the vets here aren't just trying to pad their bank accounts, but that's unfortunately what it seems like. I will be finding a new vet clinic as soon as possible. Read Less

I have always had a great experience from this Vet Clinic. Having transferred from an out of town clinic my dog attended for four years, to this one at first I was a little weary, but was instantly welcomed when greeted by the warm atmosphere of the staff and doctors. The most recent visit was unplanned when my dog came down with an over night illness. I have never felt more cared for in leaving my champion in the hands of the true meaning of healthcare providers. Dr. Tracy personally contacted me along the way of my pet's stay and progress, and Dianne the Technician was so thoughtful in processing the transaction and reuniting me with a healthy pup. 5/5 stars, I am so lucky to have my pup in their care.
