Austin Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital

Austin, Texas
General Info
Austin Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital provides healthcare that examines beyond mere symptoms through appointments that incorporate discussions about animal habits, living conditions, and subtle warning signs. Every medical consultation begins with a context-gathering phase that investigates potential changes in a patient's appetite patterns alongside energy levels and sleep behaviors while also examining grooming habits and bathroom routines. These specific elements direct the examination of an entire body assessment which includes skin condition joint sensitivity oral health and bodyweight patterns. All minor changes get recorded because they might indicate seasonal variations or early symptoms and hidden discomforts. The clinic provides wellness exams vaccines bloodwork fecal screening parasite control and nutritional support. Veterinarians manage intricate cases such as arthritis, gastrointestinal disturbances, and persistent itching by delivering tiered solutions that begin with the least invasive options and escalate as necessary. Based on symptom presentation medical practitioners might incorporate diagnostic tools such as imaging techniques alongside thyroid panels and allergy tests. Austin Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital provides care for pets experiencing ongoing health issues and those requiring regular medication management. Care summaries present information in a straightforward manner while offering digital access for monitoring upcoming actions. Multi-pet households achieve advantages through meticulously planned schedules combined with collective health management approaches. Austin Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital's team merges individualized treatment with long-term expertise. Families residing in Austin and nearby Texas regions receive dependable support through adaptable care plans which respond to each animal's unique living patterns and yearly developmental changes.

UPDATED REVIEW: I want to give kudos to Dr. Sarah and the AVDH technicians who worked so diligently to help my dog after a seizure. Iggy is now well known here, feels right at home! ORIGINAL REVIEW: After my Italian Greyhound was diagnosed with a potential heart murmur, I searched this place out online to confirm whether or not this murmur was anything to worry about. From the moment I spoke with their staff, I knew this would be a positive experience. They offered me same day and a next day appointment, lots of flexibility and the doctor I dealt with, Barrett, was extremely knowledgeable. Although this place is too far from where I live to take my dog in for regular veterinary visits, I would recommend this place to anybody seeking top notch care for their pet. After my dog had a stroke, and I took him into the Diagnostic Hospital to have him put down, one of the veterinarians used my Love of my Dog to talk me into spending almost $6,000 on scans and tests just to "make sure" there was nothing that could be done, saying he was "confident" that they could probably do something. Nothing is worse in this world than "getting someone's hopes up" for a false reason, which in this case was just to make money off of my poor dog. My dog Thor was made to suffer through tests for 5 days while he was paralyzed having to get his own filth on him. Other Austin vets refer their toughest cases to these folks. They offer advanced equipment and techniques, and they fall into the way-above-average, best-of-the-best category. I chose them as my regular vets and that decision is probably why my 17-year old cat is sitting beside me, happy and alive right now. AVDH brought my pet back from the brink twice and for two unrelated issues. Aside from being brilliant diagnosticians and surgeons, they are lovely people. Bright, caring, communicative, open, collaborative. They have a lot of passion for what they do, deep respect for the pets they serve, and sensitivity toward pet owners. Right up to having separate dog and cat waiting rooms. All three docs are hair-on-fire smart; Donop, Varga, Kneupper all do a great job. Really, Can't say enough good things. My 10 year old chihuahua, Ellie, loves coming to this vet clinic! Every time we visit, everyone is very friendly and helpful and nearly all of vet technicians say hi and Ellie gets so excited to see them! One of the staff members said, "For as many health issues Ellie has and her age, she sure doesn't act like a senior dog!" Ellie was diagnosed with congestive heart failure over a year ago, but that doesn't stop her from running laps throughout the entire house! She's always running around and very excited about life, if it weren't for her grey hairs, you'd think she was 2 years old. I firmly believe that my pup is as healthy as she is all because we take her to their clinic! They are so keen to pleasing their customers, just amazing people and experience over all! The staff is always helpful and friendly and Dr Kneupper is THE BEST! I think she is a cat whisperer! :) On his first visit Balboa was totally scared and freaked out, then she picked him up and he was instantly calm. She also took the time to talk to me about his FIV, I had just adopted him so I had a lot of questions. Dr. K also called me back personally when I had questions about some fur loss a couple weeks after his first appointment. Balboa required a trip back to see her a couple weeks ago for some ear issues. They got me in right away with no wait! This office might cost a little more than others, but it is soooooo worth it! Especially for an overprotective mom of a FIV positive kitty! :-) Thank you so much Dr. K and staff!!!!! Read Less

We started taking our pets to Austin Diagnostic Veterinary Clinic ("the clinic") in 2005. We sometimes questioned the veterinarians' diagnoses and treatment plans but followed them faithfully. To date, we have spent over $33,000 in the clinic on four cats. Our 20-year old cat's health started declining rapidly in early 2015 and she was hospitalized for several days, The vet told us she was doing "great" when she was released. We called them three days later on a Sunday because we were convinced she was dying. After we described her symptoms, the vet said he felt she would be fine, implying that we were overreacting. She was dead the next day. We recently moved to Georgetown and shortly after made the 130-mile round trip to take our ailing 18-year old cat to the clinic. He stayed there one night, and we picked him up the next day after we were told he was doing "great." The next day, when it was clear he was still very ill, we again took him in, got more meds, and were told he was much better. Within five hours after bringing him home, we had to take him to an emergency clinic to have him euthanized. We hope the success of this clinic does not prevent them from giving honest and caring advice to their clients and from showing personal concern in the future. Had they done so in our case, our precious cat would have been spared two days of what was clearly needless, excruciating suffering. It now seems the revenue generated from us was primary to the clinic, while they have demonstrated indifference to the welfare and outcome of our pets treatment. Read Less

Austin Veterinary Diagnostic Clinic is the BEST thanks for taking care of my rat dog!!Read Less

So grateful to be part of this amazing family! All of the staff members are truly compassionate about the patients, and the hospital is the best equipped and most technologically advanced in the nation (not just the state!) What a wonderful blessing it is to have such top notch care here in the Austin community. As the wife of the talented Dr. Barrett Donop, I feel like every pet is part of our family, as well. I cherish all of the visits I get to have with all of the lucky animals who get to visit the vet clinic (AVDH). Thank you for your interest in this wonderful family and clinic, and we hope to see you all soon. :) Read Less

Read Less
