Banfield Pet Hospital

Austin, Texas
General Info
Banfield Pet Hospital in Austin initiates care by monitoring pets' morning arrivals, midday interactions, and post-intervention resting behaviors to deliver consistent and thoughtful service across Texas. The clinic meticulously monitors entry posture alongside sound sensitivity while examining pacing patterns and focal behavior. The examination process during medical assessments aligns with the animal response cycle where practitioners inspect ears and teeth during curiosity phases and perform abdominal checks or joint evaluations in periods of calm. Pet owners face inquiries about minute behavioral adjustments such as their pets' resting spots within the house their mealtime approaches and any extended pauses near doorways or soft surfaces. Banfield Pet Hospital provides a spectrum of services including diagnostic tests, age-modified physical examinations, preventive health screenings, gastrointestinal stabilization, endocrine treatments, surgical preparations and postoperative reflection routines. Appointments transform into full-service sessions or split between two shorter visits based on pet temperament and caregiver schedule. Medical staff determine task priority through behavioral readiness instead of checklists adapting to pets' pacing and touch thresholds. Families get detailed reports that follow their pet's daily patterns to understand time-specific symptoms, behaviors after stimulation, and methods to observe rebalancing. Textual check-ins combined with pacing charts alongside adaptable timelines ensure follow-up remains anchored in the pet's feelings instead of clinical benchmarks. Banfield Pet Hospital delivers healthcare services to pets for Austin families and Texas residents that match the natural living patterns of animals in genuine home environments throughout actual daily routines.

I took my pet in for grooming. The manager of the grooming department said that he was breathing very heavy and told the groomer to stop and take him next door to the vet. I got a call from the doctor saying that my pet was having a very hard time breathing and that they wanted to give him a medicine and put him on oxygen. I agreed. About an hour later I get another call stating that he did not respond to the treatment given and that there has been no change. They did x-rays, did blood work but they still didn't know what was causing his breathing issues. She told me about a few other treatments they could give him but that there was no certainty it would work. Suggested that I could take him to an emergency hospital where he could be monitored while on oxygen for the next 24 hours but she wasn't hopeful. She then proceeded to tell me OVER THE PHONE THAT I SHOULD REALLY CONSIDER EUTHANASIA MY PUPPY. I was so upset and distraught. I spent $284 and THEY STILL COULDN'T TELL ME WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MY PUPPY!!!!!!!!!!! I took my puppy home and he is absolutely FINE!!! I will never go back to this facility again. I am a first time pet owner and take him to the vet whenever something is strange in his behavior. He was absolutely fine when I dropped him off to be groomed and absolutely fine when I brought him home. I am extremely disappointed. The only reason I gave one start is it's the only way I could post my review. Read Less

three months ago my dog injured his leg and started limping. I took him in because I have a wellness plan and they said there was nothing wrong. gave him some sedatives for a week and said he should be fine. We gave our dog the meds as prescribed and he was still limping. We took him back, paid for more xrays and were told again that nothing is wrong. Well last week he started walking without putting weight on the leg at all, so we took him to another vet for a second opinion. He has a torn ACL and a partially torn Meniscus. I am so livid that these vets could be so careless. The vet that diagnosed the tear told me "It would have been much easier to treat if we caught it when this happened." What's done is done but I hope that you never take your pets here. Go to any other vet. Read Less

I had no appointment with the veterinarian , but was told they would work me in to see her. When I arrived, I told the man at the desk I needed a refill of my cat's Fluconizole tablets and gave him the bottle to refill- my refill was ready when I checked out. We were shown right into a room, & although a tech came in & said the vet had an emergency, within a few minutes, Dr Bradley herself came in & said she had a few minutes while the techs were prepping the emergency, and listened to what was wrong with my cat, whom she'd seen before. She left the room, but came back not too much later and discussed our options, explaining each one, and I feel she really cares about my cat, and the choices I face. Dr Bradley and Dr Chapin both have seen my cat through his lengthy illness, and both have been very supportive of us throughout this terrible disease. George has histoplasmosis, which is fatal, and they have been so caring and kind about the hard choices I've had to make about George. In fact, two different Banfield hospitals have taken care of George through the last 3 years, and without the Wellness Plans, I couldn't have afforded the expensive care that George has needed. I'm so thankful for Banfield and the Wellness Plans offered. So, in the past 2 visits, the Banfield at Tech Ridge has offered to see George at the last minute, by offering to working him. Drs Bradley and Chapin can not have been have been more caring doctors. I really think the world of all the Banfield doctors and staff! Read Less

We brought our cat to Banfield a while back. She had tenderness under her chin and it was swollen. Even a laymen like me knew that she has lymph nodes there, and swelling indicates an infection. However, they insisted on running about $600 worth of diagnostic tests. When we asked if there was something else they could do instead, the doctor acknowledged that swelling there would indicate an infection, and they could try antibiotics. We approved the treatment for about $100 and she was back to normal in days. It was clear to us that Banfield's biggest priority was for profits first in the name of the wellbeing for the pet, while draining the owner for as much as possible. We will never go there again. I take both my kitties in to see Dr. Butler at this Banfield and she is always very gentle and compassionate with my pets. She is a knowledgeable vet and explains options for care and how much the options cost. I have never felt pressure from her to get unnecessary or expensive services for my cats. One of my cats has hyperthyroidism and constipation issues, so he has been in A LOT over the past six months while we try to get his medication levels right, etc. She talked to us about different medicines and the very expensive iodine treatment, and helped us find an effective and affordable medication for him. The vet techs here are so sweet to him, and very polite to us. I never feel like my concerns are ignored and they always have time to answer questions.I am not here to review the Wellness Plan, but I will say that at 25 bucks a month per pet it is well worth it for us. Most preventative care services and testing are free and you get a discount for other services and medicine. For the hyperthyroid cat we have saved hundreds of dollars this year, and we never have to worry about the cost if he seems like he needs to be checked out, because office visits are free. If you have an uber healthy pet that rarely needs to go to the vet, it may not be worth it for you. Either way, I still recommend this vet.One more note: They do take the "Care Credit" card, but only for charges of $200 or more. Read Less
