I took my pet for her annual shots and the technician who helped me had her nose and mouth pierced. It was very unprofessional and I could not look at her, as it was painful to give her eye contact. When I asked the receptionist is that allowed she said based on the technical's skills it was fine. When did pierced lips and nose become skills? It was an awful experience to see this type of representation at a business establishment. First impressions are key, it's hard to take this veterian place serious as it overpowered how my pet would be treated. Not impressed. Read Less

I was going to another vet but started going to Brodie Animal because it was in my neighborhood. I had a bad experience with one of the vets name being a mean bully with me on the phone. I let the owner know about it and he made excuses for this vet. I have had bad experiences with how unprofessional the front desk staff is. I spent a lot of money there. I love Brodie Animal Hospital so much! My dog HATES going to the vet, mostly because she hates other people touching her, and the staff here are so patient and amazing with her. I don't go anywhere else. I just got back from a visit where the vet and the vet tech both sat on the floor for the exam because my dog wouldn't move. They really love animals there. They also offer free "happy visits," where you can bring your dog around to spend non-stressful time there, and everyone feeds them treats and generally gets them used to going there. Avoid.  Just over a year ago, Brodie Animal Hospital was great.  I don't know if there was an ownership change or what.  There's about one vet and three techs that know/care what they are talking about.  One other in particular is very condescending if your animal does not meet HER standards.  This place is like trying to get an oil change.  You go in for anything major or minor, you come out with someone telling you that all sorts of other stuff needs to be done.  Don't give in to it, they run a horrible business and I've had to recently get second opinions to make sure my dog is ok.  Not to mention, the young receptionists constantly complain in whispers about how horrible it is working there.  I'm sitting right near you ladies!  How can I trust this place if everytime I go in, you're whispering negatives!  I'm done and going to find real animal lovers that will help keep my dog healthy. Dr. Martin was recommended to me by my vet in Kyle for difficult teeth cleaning/surgery. From the moment I met the staff and Dr. Martin I felt comfortable and apparently my cat did too as she was relaxed and calm with Dr. Martin. I love that they spray the pheremone (sp?) spray in the examination rooms to help calm the animals. The techs were friendly and helpful and very informative and Dr. Martin was a delight. I've been to Brodie for all the things, including getting flea and worm meds, regular check-ups, surgery, and saying goodbye to a terminally ill kitten. The vet techs are mostly friendly and the vets themselves are *awesome*... they know their stuff and have been very sweet to my menagerie of beasts. The kitties in particular leave happy, having licked their share of cheez whiz off the exam counter and batted around many a catnip mouse. I always ask a bunch of questions and leave equipped with good info. AND, it's been very easy for me to get an appointment within the same week I call.A couple illustrations of my experiences...I had to take one of my kitties in to get a fang removed (he looks like a hillbilly now, but the tooth was in bad shape) and they were awesome with explaining the reasons for the cost and making sure everything went smoothly. A year-ish later, hillbilly kitty is doing great. The operation was definitely expensive - I was given a couple options at higher and lower costs - but I wanted it done right to prevent infection/complications. I'd adopted two kittens and found out one of them had FIP and after talking it through with the vet, we decided euthanasia was the best option... one of the saddest days of my life. When I showed up in tears everyone was so nice to me and let me hold the kitten as long as I wanted, and explained the process in detail... I even received a card signed by staff offering their condolences. The process was done tactfully and with great sensitivity. I am really, really grateful everyone was so sweet to me and to my kitten.The only reason I'm docking a star is because of the cost... Brodie is definitely on the expensive side of the spectrum. I don't mind paying extra because of the service and the quality, but I'll probably be going to Emancipet to get my kitten neutered because I am not a rich lady. Regardless, give Brodie a chance! Veterinarians are good from what I could tell after two visits. Would have stayed, but there were a few errors that came from easily avoidable miscommunication between the supporting staff, myself, and the veterinarians. Husband came home from picking up one of my dog's prescriptions and reported that whoever at the front looked they hated their job and was very rude. I would give it negative 5 stars if Deb Stone was the only person working there. I don't even have the time to waste typing why that woman is so awful. I was not happy after having a bad experience, but I was calm, and she came out, implied that I was going to make a scene and that other people care about their animals too. Next she required that I have a seat, 4 times in a row. I opted to stay standing. She was abrasive, condescending, and I'm baffled that they chose her to be the face of the clinic when there are customer satisfaction issues. Oh! and she asked, in a voice that implied doubt, if I was going to pay the bill. I have spent tens of thousands of dollars on surgeries for one of my pups, hundreds on ear cleanings, thousands on other necessities, I've never walked out on a bill. Even though I have a mobile vet for the routine wellness, I am now bringing my cats in here for their not so routine treatments. I always feel welcome when I come in and everybody seems helpful. I will admit, I came here a little skeptical at first because of past experiences at another clinic but no longer. I even like the quiet cat waiting room when I arrive a little early. My dog punctured himself while getting out from under the bed where he likes to sleep. Ouchies!! My normal vet was booked solid. Got referred to this place. Did a good job of getting my records from my primary vet. Very nice people. Seemed very clean. Walked through the back because my dog was a little grumpy/irritated after the "procedure" he went through to close up the puncture. Things were orderly and clean back there. $480.00 later left me feeling kinda punctured. Only reasons I am not giving them that last star is for cost (visit was $55.00 plus repair) and manners. The latter concern wasn't that that big of a portion. Mostly consisting of not introducing themselves and small details like that. Hope that helps. Read Less

Our 6 month old Boerboel Lucy decided she did not enjoy crate training. During her attempted escape from Cratecrataz, she managed to break her newly sprouted upper canine. After talking to my own vet and then calling around I found there are very few vets who specialize in this type of injury. Most are only able to do basic extractions. Based on several recommendations we brought Lucy to Brodie Animal Hospital. The staff here were very friendly and within 5 minutes of checking in we met with Dr. Martin. I can't say enough about how great she was explaining Lucy's injury and answering all my questions about the treatment options. I was ready to go with a more expensive procedure (root canal and crown) :but after talking with Dr. Martin we decided to go with extraction and bone fill. I appreciated Dr. Martin's honesty in explaining to me that doing the root canal on such a new permanent tooth and given Lucy's age and lifestyle there was a high likelihood she would re-injure the tooth again, forcing her to undergo more procedures. They squeezed Lucy in for the following morning and her surgery went off without a hitch. They took great care in explaining her after care instructions and gave us a follow up call to make sure she was doing well.I  felt the cost was fair and actually less than I had anticipated. I also appreciated the fact we were given a thorough estimate, with an explanation of each item for the procedure, up front. My dog sprained her leg on Easter Sunday and by Monday morning she could barely walk.  I was able to make an appointment the same day and I couldn't be more happy with the doctors and staff at this office.  Everyone was SO nice and friendly, they all cared about my pup and did everything they could to put her back together.  The doctor even cut out a little heart and stuck it on her cast, AND gave me a hug before I left.  I am a new convert and will never see another vet in Austin!  Thank you Brodie Animal Hospital! I recently rescued a dog from a shelter only to find he had to have major dental work done. I was referred to Dr. Martin for a specifically tricky surgery. My dog's not the friendliest toward people at times, but she hasn't had any issue with the vets or techs at Brodie. Their prices are reasonable and they do good work. The staff and Doctors at Brodie Animal Hospital treated my baby girl like she belonged to them. You can tell everyone there loves what they do. I have a 9yr old faithful companion named Ella and I was worried about the surgery she needed. All my questions and concerns were answered and addressed in a caring and reassuring manner. I was at ease when it was time to let her go into their care. I was updated about her progress multiple times and during her procedures as well. The little things are not missed and never has anyone ever lost patience with me and all my questions and concerns. I won't ever go anywhere else. I had been a customer for years living south, moved north and tried a few other places north and have moved back south now again and started care here again recently. Brodie Animal Hospital is worth the drive regardless of what side of town you live in! I have been bringing my dogs here since I moved to Austin almost three years ago. I mostly brand my dog Jaxxon In for nail trims, but I did have to see them when he developed a growth on ha leg. It was cancer. Everyone at Brodie Animal Hospital took great care to work with me to make sure he was not in pain. When the time came to put him to sleep they were great. I got a paw print from my dog and a sympathy card signed by the staff. Another that is so great is that I am disabled and use crutches to walk so I need help bringing my dog in, every time I visited I would just call them from the parking lot and someone would come out and help me bring him in. I recently moved back to Austin and am thrilled to have found this clinic with its knowledgeable staff, clean facilities, and overall warm environment. The prices are also fair and scheduling has been easy. I have two cats that have each been to the Brodie Animal Hospital and were seen by separate doctors. Both visits went well and I was impressed by the calm and genuine care provided by everyone involved.On my most recent visit, I was so excited to hear Dr. Pamela Holmes speak passionately about animal nutrition (why is that not a priority for all vets??) that I requested she be my go-to for future visits. Like most pet owners, I obsess over my fur babies and Dr. Holmes took the time to talk through every single one of my concerns. For one thing, I've wondered whether my kitten has hip issues because of an odd jump, and instead of shrugging off my concern like other vets had done, Dr. Holmes inspected my kitten's hips and requested that I take a video of him jumping in his natural environment so that she could watch the movement on our follow-up visit. Amazing.I'm so happy to have a place to go where people genuinely care about the well-being of my pets. When I adopted my dog from APA, they gave me a list of vet clinics that offered a free preliminary check-up appointment for APA adoptions. After some research, I decided on Brodie Animal Hospital.Setting up the appointment was easy. The office can be a pain to find in the shopping plaza but going there is worth it. The office is clean and the staff was super friendly. Since this was my first dog, I was very nervous about annoying the vet tech with too many questions but they were great about easing my worries. Mike Werner conducted the check up - he explained everything he was doing, informed me about what to keep an eye on for the first few months with my new dog, and took my concerns into consideration when recommending a flea preventative. It was an overall excellent appointment. They even sent my dog a "Welcome" greeting card about a week later. Now, we regularly see Dr. Burke and she's amazing. Whenever I'm worried about something my dog has chewed up or if something seems out of the ordinary, I call up Brodie and they're great about quickly counseling me on the phone to see if it's necessary to bring my dog in.My only caveat is that the clinic is pretty pricey compared to others I have researched BUT the service is so worth it. Had to have one of my dogs put down, on an early Saturday morning. The staff was very caring. I was not going to be able to pay till the afternoon, The Doctor said no problem, as they closed at noon, told me I could pay Monday. I called in and paid, and told them I decided to have my sweet dog cremated. A week later I received a clay paw print of my dog with a nice poem. Would have gave a High 5 star rating for the care and experience, except for the fact that a month later I received a phone call wanting to know if I decided what I wanted to do with my dogs remains. They still had her! I told them that she was to be cremated. After a moment the person on the phone said, "Oh I see it in the notes now." Not a way to start off the weekend, knowing my baby was in a freezer like a side of Beef for a month! Read Less

I keep coming to Brodie Animal Hospital because last year my puppy had a bad parasite and thanks to some dedicated Vets, he made it through it.  Dr. Werner even took the time to call me at home several times to check on my little baby.  I so appreciated that.The problem comes when you make your way to the counter and pay for the bill.  Prices here are outrageous.  Another problem I've come across is I've never seen the same vet twice.  Just makes the care so impersonal.
