About decade ago, my friend and vet, Lora Pigott, recommended Dr. Simmons to me when she sold her practice. She told me I would do well with him because he is an excellent & caring vet, has plenty of common sense, and wouldn't ""treat me like an idiot"" as some highly educated professionals are wont to do. She was right: We still bring our pets to him for all their care even though we moved out into Blanco County in 2003. About a year or so after we started going to BRAH, Dr. Simmons' partner, Dr. Toth, saw our elderly Great Dane, Hugh, as an emergency work-in appointment, ran an EKG right there in the office, and referred him to be seen immediately by a veterinary cardiologist at another Austin office. They leave enough play in the schedule to be able to work in an emergency if necessary. If this causes the doctor(s) to run late, they are very good about calling clients to notify them and to reschedule if the client prefers. Finally, it is so nice to see familiar faces and be recognised when one enters a clinic. At many clinics, there is a high turn over rate, but not here - which speaks volumes about the quality of the doctors as both professionals and people. Read Less
