I saw Dr. Jorga Brown and my experience was absolutely terrible!!!!!!! I have a 50 lb dog which is pretty medium/large sized. He's about a year and a half inching towards 2 so very much still a puppy. (Here I am feeling defensive and the need to explain myself) My dog is talkative...whenever he goes to a new place he barks a lot because he's excited. you can tell by the way he wags his tail that he just wants to explore, he's having a good time. Well, as I was using our professional highly rated across the board training techniques to calm him down the receptionist was already annoyed by him...and his barking...even though you know..he's a dog and that's what they do. the vet, Dr. Brown, came out to see us and came at him with an open palm very quickly. Now, since I don't know who will be reading this, it's said EVERYWHERE that you should never approach a dog like that. You should ALWAYS ALWAYS have the back of your hand facing the dog and let the dog come to you. you should ALWAYS let the dog come to you. anyways, of course my dog sees this person walking quickly towards us and with an open palm towards him and he shows teeth. He felt endangered. she then looks at me and harshly asked me " Do you train him???" Yes, I do train him, and we go one hour out of our way to get him the best training there is. She then leaves and after a while comes back annoyed and grabs his leash and tells me shes going to take him to the back. She put the noose of the leash around her wrist and wraps the rest of the leash around her wrist and arm. Again, if you've ever done training or read, or talked to a trainer they will tell you NOT to do that because if the dog begins to pull or run they could break your arm/wrist so you should put the noose on your thumb and grab the leash with your hand at a spot closer to the dogs chain. she drags him to the back and when a very very friendly technician who had him under control and was working well with him (so kudos to the technician who was the only nice person there) tells me to wait in a room with him. the vet comes in a few seconds later and very harshly tells me that she is going to need to sedate him because "he lunged at her and is a danger to all vets" WHATTTTTT???!!!!! that's absurd. NO vet we have ever seen or been to has said that. NEVER. no person has ever felt that way JUST her. and he has NEVER lunged at anyone. He is the type of dog that is cautious of people (hes a rescue) but if you approach him slowly and let him come to you, he will ALWAYS army crawl to you and flip over in submission and ocassionally pee. i tell her no because we only went there to get him weighed and buy heart worm pills. lol she then tells me that wasn't the appointment I made. I made an appointment for vaccines. um....no i didn't. i know what appointment I made. So now there's errors with the front desk here. Let me then say that the receptionist couldn't locate where to find his previous health forms which i know for a fact, 100% our old vet had sent to them. Let me also mention that you should bring your own treats because this place has none. anywhere. not one treat, which is the weirdest thing I've ever encountered.
Overall, this place was terrible. The people who had been waiting outside with their pets were one hundred thousand percent nicer to me and my dog then the staff there. I am so disappointed and hurt by how they treated us. Needless to say, we will be going to our old vet even though they are now 45 mins away from us to get there and an hour and a half to get to my home in traffic and also have a bit of a higher price. It's worth it to go so out of my way and pay a little more to have friendlier, nicer, and knowledgeable of how to treat animals and probably how to train animals than these people were. I am very disappointed. If you have a small, old, or quiet dog, then this is probably a good place for you. anyone else...just don't go. Or maybe just always ask for Dr. Leary and hope to god they actually set that appointment for you.
