After 11 years, my Jack Russell, Dewey, had pretty bad looking teeth. One Saturday morning, Dewey wasn't acting right, his face was swollen and he was bleeding from his mouth a little. I rushed him to Firehouse and we picked up antibiotics and pain pills and scheduled an appt. for early the following week. In the end, Dewey needed 14 teeth pulled. I felt like the worst person on the planet. I don't remember any names but it really doesn't matter because everyone I spoke to was amazing. The detailed receipt with pictures of Dewey's super clean teeth and xrays blew me away. Dewey rode home with his head on my shoulder and a couple of days later, I opened that bottle of wine that I was given for being a new customer. I will always trust my dogs to Firehouse! The staff here is incredibly friendly and has been great with both my animals. They always get me in quickly when I need an appointment and I never have had to spend long waiting once I'm there. They are all very sweet and both my pets have had good experiences going and getting catnip and doggie treats. I've had other vets and can say Firehouse has been the best experience by far. Firehouse's professional, compassionate, and supportive care significantly raised those expectations.We ran to Firehouse for the first time because our beloved cat was sick. They quickly diagnosed that our cat's illness required emergency care. We simply couldn't afford that and were clearly distraught. They did everything in their power to help him and lower costs. They gave us fantastic advice and clear, fair pricing at each point so that we could make the best decisions for our little family. Because of the emergency nature of our situation, the vet even gave us her personal number so we could ask questions in her off-time. I recently moved to Austin and the only reason I picked this vet's office was because it had 5 stars...needless to say there is a reason they have 5 stars! The facility, vets, and staff are simply amazing!!! I work with dogs daily and I can tell that these people love what they do! I received a tour of the clinic, and was treated like I treat my own clients at work. My pets have only been there once and when I called for an appointment the staff already knew my pets! (Nice touch). Dr. Mozisek was very patient with my fussy cat, she was sure not to stress him out. They are the first clinic to actually listen to me too, which is really nice when you know how to handle your own pets. I was outside their door at 7:30AM, panicking with my sick cat and no appointment and still I had one of the best experiences I've ever had with a veterinarian. They examined and admitted Kerouac and I was out the door (with an unreasonably good cup of coffee to go) by 8. The doctor personally called me three times during the day to update me on my cat's fever, and when I picked her up the next day her temperature was down to normal and I had a bottle of wine to celebrate.The price was reasonable and the staff seemed genuinely happy to be there. They were willing to work with my weird schedule and even though it was a long drive, the area is totally beautiful. Our eight year old lab had never had an ear infection before, so when he kept scratching his ears, we thought he might have caught fleas from other dogs at the dog park. After a couple of flea baths, during the week, and no relief for his ears, I took off work early on a Friday afternoon, and we were running late due to a traffic jam on Westlake Drive! We got there right at closing time, but they welcomed us, and were so kind and considerate of my stressed out and suffering fur kid! They took a swab of both ears and, sure enough, he had a very severe ear infection in both ears. The staff was amazing and really put me at ease, and I even left with a bottle of red wine..which is complimentary to all new customers! This Vet office is wonderful. They treat you like an individual and accommodate special requests. My dog is terrified once taken into an exam room so they kindly met with him in the waiting room for the exam. He thought he was meeting my friends and it relaxed him. They also are helpful and friendly with follow-ups. The location is fabulous from all areas of Austin; north or south as it's on 360 by the bridge. It's especially nice if you are in Westlake! We adopted a four month old Apollo complete with a broken leg and serious tummy problems as a result of malnutrition and scavenging. The vets at Austin Pets Alive! Had promised to treat these two conditions as a part of our adoption agreement but their resources are finite and they're a long way away so we registered with Firehouse on the recommendation of our neighbour.What a brilliant discovery. They took our scrawny, broken pup in their stride and made sensible, deft decisions about his care. As well as extremely helpful recommendations about his diet and his rehabilitation from his injuries. Both Dr. Harrison (who has sadly now left) and Dr. Faught are truly dog people who made us feel comfortable and very much in safe hands.The reception staff are delightful. The check in and out process is always easy. And they keep a card on file along with a signed release that I update so his sitter can bring him in for treatment if necessary while we're away.They are definitely not the cheapest option in Austin - and, particularly for routine shots, there are other places even I might chose to go. But they helped transform my furry cast wearing bag of bones into 65lbs of leaping glossy two year old and I wouldn't trust anyone else with his care. Read Less

The crew at Firehouse Animal Health Center are extremely friendly and helpful. This is my first time with a puppy and they were very open and happy to see us. The vet took care of my pup's eye infection. Since I had just moved to Austin the vet was soooo helpful, I could not afford heart warm prevention so she gave me a dose to last me until I got my dog insurance in a month. The care I received at the facility was exactly what I needed having just moved to a new place. They toured me around the facility witnessing a very clean, very efficient place of work. I have literally never written a review online (thought I put this same review on yelp). I am one of those people who looks at reviews and uses them or research, but never actually puts the work in myself :). Anyway, I had to let people know how amazing this place is. I have never been to a veterinarian where each person there is so positive, compassionate, and competent. My cat recently got very sick and they were amazing in caring for him and trying to find out what was wrong. In the end, our worst fears came true and we had to put my little man down. This was by far the most comfortable experience I have had with having to let a pet go, and I know the care my cat received was second to none. I am so happy I found this place and my cat had such a great place to leave this world in such a comfortable and dignified way. The people REALLY care. I am actually astounded by how great they were, having had animals all my life and having seen different veterinarians around the country. Doctor Harrison is the best veterinarian I have ever had, and it's not even close. If you live anywhere near this place, this is, without a doubt, where you want to go. Read Less
