VCA is by far the best veterinarian I've ever used! All of the Vets and Techs are patient and caring, and attentive to the needs of the owners and pets that come in. We've interacted with a handful of the Vets there (all great), but my wife and I were lucky enough to have Dr. O as our main doc. Firstly, we came to VCA when my mother-in-law's dog was having some serious issues and suddenly stopped eating and wouldn't get up. Unfortunately the dog had developed what they thought was aggressive cancer, which is what we were afraid of. When we took her in, we already knew what was likely to happen. Doc O and his staff made what should have been an awful experience into something very comforting. We could even tell he was upset from seeing my wife's mother cry so hard, which just shows how much they care there! Now we bring our three dogs here and have been nothing but satisfied! They are gentle with the pups and not pushy with services. Doc O even told us to hold off on some basic services because the pups had a very slight fever, and to come back in a few days when they were feeling better. It's not about getting as much out of each customer here like it is in other vets. Sure the fees here might seem a little high, but I'd rather pay a higher price and know that my dogs are well taken care of - and not getting something they don't need just so the vet can make an extra buck or two. We are extremely satisfied with VCA Lakeline!!! Read Less

I have been trying to get my puppy Hazel into the vet. With my work schedule it has been difficult. I called Lakeline Animal Hospital and was able to get an appointment the next day. Dr. Hagel was awesome! He was honest and upfront with me about the possible cost and the possibilities of what could be going on with my puppy. He was very informative and answered all questions I had. The prices are good and the visit did not take long. I will be going back for both of my dogs. Read Less

I've never met a vet who made my cat's care feel like "human care". Sure many vets can (and do) properly care for an animal. After research, the care outlined by my current vet is consistent and comparable with Dr. Walden's. However, Dr. Walden's approach to care was of much higher quality. Dr. Walden took the time to review my cat's treatment plan, provide me my options and the rationale for each option, and made it a point to present me with the costs associated with our agreed treatment plan so I had no surprises on the costs for that day's visit. Every person has a different idea of what they would consider "ideal" care. Mine happens to put heavy weight on understanding the reasoning for the treatment and on general knowledge. If you prefer a similar type of care, Dr. Waldon is highly recommended. I will transition my cat's care to her after one visit (he is an older cat suffering from a chronic disease). Regarding their facilities, I love the separate entrances for felines and dogs. It is clean and homey but mildly dated. The flooring is tile and poor to absorb sounds but I presume that is a sacrifice made with sanitation in mind. Their staff was superb too. The technicians (namely Elizabeth, sp?) were clearly knowledgeable and even took the time to show me how to administer injectable medications for my future knowledge. Overall, it is brazenly obvious this clinic strives to put quality pet/owner care at the top of their list. From what little I saw, their culture is built around a love for our furry friends. Also, they are open 7 days a week so busy poor folk like myself can afford to take their little ones in on the weekend should something urgent arise. Read Less

She treats them just like her own babies and is VERY thorough during our check up visits! We have 2 Boxers and Dr. Davis has caught many tumors from turning into cancer. I'm always really nervous about finding a new vet, but Lakeline Animal Care was wonderful from check in, to check out; the staff were receptive to my concerns of my sick yorkie, and they went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. To me, I always look for healthcare professionals that show they actually are listening to what you have to say about your fur baby, rather than going through the motions, and I definitely noticed. The inside of the facility was clean, and so cute. It looks like it was once an old house, and felt homey. I definitely will be returning for the future care for my baby. Read Less

I had to make one of the toughest decisions I've ever had to make this past weekend and the staff at Lakeline Animal Care couldn't have been more comforting to me. Saturday morning, my 16 year old Jack Russell, Spot, woke up and looked at me with that "it's time for me to go" kind of look. He's been old for a while now, but I could never imagine parting with him, so it was a difficult decision to process. When my mom called Lakeline Animal Care for me to see if they would be able to help out my little old man, they were more than accommodating to us. We didn't have an appointment, but they told us they would fit us in when we got there, and they kindly did. The staff was welcoming and genuine, and the vet, Dr. Walden, said all the right things to make me feel more at peace with having to say goodbye to Spot. She gently explained the whole process and offered us words of comfort during one of the saddest moments I've ever experienced. While the afternoon was still tough on us, there aren't enough words to express my gratitude for the comfort and kindness we experienced from the second we walked through the door. Read Less

This place is absolutely all I ever wanted in a boarding facility. I had almost given up ever finding such a caring , awesome place, including vet and staff. My son and girlfriend told us how impressed they were with the vets here as well as the boarding , but we live in Kyle, Tx and it was just too far to travel... but , thank goodness we did. We .left our spoiled Yorkie there for 4 days boarding and were amazed of the caring way he was cared for. Archie, our Yorkie... as I said is very spoiled , hates being parted from my husband and I , so he went on a hunger strike I guess you can say. Wouldn't eat or drink and when he did he started vomiting. We got a call from LAC and they told me what was happening. Spoke to the vet caring for him and okay-ed an injection to stop the vomiting. Told us to call them as many times a day as we wanted to check on him. I was worried Archie would get worse but I was really impressed with their concern for Archie because every time I called after that he was doing better. I am extremely grateful we found this place , LAC is a god send! Even though we are outside of Austin , we will continue to board Archie at LAC. Everyone is so caring, Vet, and staff !! Thank you so very much for taking such great care of our Archie! You are wonderful! Read Less

We moved here in 1998 and when we first moved here we had a dog that has long passed away but we brought her to Lakeline Animal Clinic and we always had great experiences they were always accommodating with everything and they were always willing to listen about our concerns and questions and they always have good answers for us and if they thought that with her answers were going to ease our minds they would do more tests just to make sure and was very easy to get appointments and the staff was reliable. Sadly our dog it was much older at the time I was born there and tried to jump the fence and twisted her stomach when we receive the phone call you're on vacation coming home and we were very saddened by it but they were very I guess loving towards us and giving us your support when they said they transferred our dog to another clinic. Which of the initiative to get another dog we of course decided to go to the same clinic for everything and Through the Years they've been nothing but great until very recentlyIn the past couple years we've noticed the decline of pretty much everything at this Veterinary Clinic this staff is very less accommodating and I feel like I'm leaving with less answers that I'm needing and they're doing the bare minimum to get you in and out and even if your dog is sick to make an appointment is very impossible my dog was recently sick and she still is sick and we are having to fight to get an appointment I'm trying to get there the next day and they are telling me I have to call at 7 o'clock in the morning to be able to get a a that day appointment that they save only in the mornings. Before all of this when the problems initially started they had no appointments available and so I pretty much had to come in and sit and wait until they could squeeze me in which I was grateful for but at the same time it was really frustrating that I had to wait and miss work because I wasn't able to get an exact appointment. Another thing is is that when we board our dog she's coming back underway and we're telling them that if she doesn't eat the food that we give her to feed her so that she does eat and so I get very concerned when my dog loses a bunch of weight because she is the perfect weight for her breed and so when she's 3 pounds underweight it's very concerning on why she is so thin and we've only been gone for a week and they gave us little to no answers on why this was happening.Sadly after many years with them we're going to have to switch to be able to accommodate with my dog's age at this point because if my dog is sick and dying I don't want to be able to be quote on quote squeezed in if she is really dire need I'd rather have it that's going to say okay bring her and right now and we will make her a priority Read Less

Being new to Austin, looking for good places to take my business is hit or miss.  I had already had a poor experience with another vet clinic, so it was even more important to find a good one. After calling around, I found this place.  It is in an old remodeled Victorian, which is cool. After waiting for about 15 min, we were called in.  The exam room was typical, clean but not too sterile. The vet tech was nice and knowledgeable and explained what the vet would be doing. When the vet came in, she was very friendly and calming and spoke to my pup to get him to welcome her, which he did.  She was very knowledgable and explained the why's and why nots of things and was very personable, which is big in my book. After the visit they took me on a tour of the boarding facilities, which is something I'm sure I will be taking advantage of in the future. At the time of my visit, their internet was down and they gave me the option of leaving a credit card number or get a callback.  How many places trust a new patient to leave without paying first?I think I found my new vet! Terrific vet clinic for you beloved pet! This was close to my home but I hesitated at first because since the Victorian style house is so darn cute I assumed it would be expensive. Not true! I loved it from the moment I walked in. It is the epitome of the anti-clinic. The interior is warm and cozy- it's like you are visiting your old friend and just happen to be bringing the dog along. The veterinarian was very thorough and knowledgeable. She did not try to "upsell" me on anything I didn't really need. She also gave me a follow up call to make sure my Lexi was doing all right and the medication was working. Very reasonably priced and a welcoming atmosphere. The animals seem calmer going there as well, so that's a real benefit! Read Less

Been taking my animals here for 18 years. I've seen Veterinarians come and go. The office is beautiful and very calming to my chiuahuah. She likes to sit up on the counter when we check out and act like she lives there. She's a nipper and she has never nipped a staff member here. They treat her as if she's one of their own, cooing over her as they carry her to the back to do whatever needs to be done. I make appointments and we are seen right on time everytime. Walkins have typically been a lengthy wait in the past so I never do that unless it is life threatening. Yes they do care very much. Now for the cons: You'll get lectured from 2 to 3 different staff members for each thing you say no to. Ok staff, ENOUGH! We've been followed out to the car just to press their point one more time. Lakeline we know you care but please respect decisions made by pet parents. It's over bearing and pushes people away. This very same thing happened when we visited last year. They are expensive but will price match online pet med distributors. What would I change? 1. I'd like to see this office offer hollistic product options. 2. Referrals for pet services too. Read Less

It has taken me a month to write this review because I have been so upset. We have been clients of Lakeline for over 6 years. Our dog recently became ill one morning and was urinating large amounts of bright red blood. I called the minute Lakeline opened and was told they could not get him in until the next day. I ended up taking him to the NW Austin Animal ER for treatment.I stopped by Lakeline the next day and complained to the office staff and told them how disappointed I was that there was no appointment space available for something that suddenly came up the day before. The woman I spoke with acted surprised they did not see him but checked the previous day's schedule, shrugged, and told me they were really busy. We both stood there staring at each other until I walked out. I am disappointed that his situation of peeing blood wasn't considered urgent enough to be seen and that Lakeline has become so busy that they cannot set aside time in their schedule to see an unexpectedly sick dog. The NW Austin Animal ER forwarded all of the information from our appointment to Lakeline and our vet never even called to check on him. Read Less

We have been going to Lakeline Animal Care for 7 years now with our two dogs. While busy, they definitely have always had a pretty good hours available for appointments. They are a little more pricey, but the vets here have great knowledge and quality care. Recently, we had a very sick dog. Thanks to their willingness to just bring her in without an appointment and look at her, they were quickly able to determine the issue and save her life. She developed an autoimmune disease out of the blue- completely unexpected when we took her in that evening. We also chose to use them for boarding after a trip recently. They took great care of our two dogs, especially the one who is now on medications and is a higher-needs animal because of her autoimmune issue. A furry ball of joy joined our family December 26th last year and we took our Nala to Lakeline Animal Care to get her initial puppy exam. Our little shelter pup had parasites and her immune system was so low that within a week she was showing signs of demodex. She started a treatment of daily medicine for about 8 weeks and required several visits in between for weighing (to make sure she was getting the right dosage), finishing up her puppy shots and then later to get spayed. In other words we spent a lot of time and got to know and trust the staff. Every time we show up for an appointment the girl always is excited because the technicians and vets go out of their way to make sure it is a pleasant experience as possible for her (meaning they offer yummy treats and sweet talk her). She was shy on her first couple visits and the tech and vets sat on the floor so she felt more comfortable. We usually see Dr. Cassens. She really cares for the animals and has a positive demeanor. She never seems in a rush and is very patient and thoroughly answers all my questions. If I call and leave a message at the front desk for a veterinarian my calls have always been returned in less than an hour.Recently Nala blew out her knee while chasing a ball and would need surgery. No one could have given the news in a gentler or kinder way than Dr. Cassens had. I ran through my head what could I have done to prevent this and she was very direct in telling me this is no ones fault and that her skeletal structure was predisposed for this to happen. She spent time explaining what was happening and answered questions. When she gave me the news I could see she felt for both of us. It was right before the holidays so it was hard to get into a surgeon but she knew Nala was in pain and made some calls and got us in to a place she said is where she would take her own pets if needed. She sent over x-rays and blood work taken at Lakeline Animal Care which saved us some money compared to the surgeon's office and it was nice that it was already there waiting for us.Finding a skilled veterinarian that truly cares for your pets is priceless and I am very thankful for Dr. Cassens and all the staff at Lakeline Animal Care. Although Lakeline Animal Care is highly rated, and the staff friendly and professional, if you care about the health of your pet you will not go there. On my third visit there with my puppy, they completely overvaccinated him and he suffered a reaction. Without even consulting me, they gave my 13 week and 5 day old puppy a combo vaccine of DHP-P, plus Leptospirosis, Bordatella and the Rabies vaccine. Rabies is commonly not given until 20 weeks, and Bordatella is needed prior to boarding but was certainly not indicated or requested and the entire onslaught of vaccines was just too much for his little system. He is thankfully still alive, but I no longer trust them as they took it upon themselves to give him all these shots without discussing it with me first. They are also amongst the most expensive vet clinic you could find, and in this case, you definitely don't get what you pay for. Stay away! Read Less

I have only been to this vet two times, but they act like we have been coming there forever. They listen to all my concerns and really take time to answer all my questions. As with some other veterinarians I didn't feel like they were just trying to sell me something and get me out. One doctor did not even charge me for a pain injection for my cat and the receptionist made sure I knew all the medication options and the lowest prices. One of the other nice things is the office always smells really good and not like a hospital. My cat get really stressed about the smell at the doctor and I think it really helps that it smells kind of like home. Anyway the entire staff is really nice and all of the doctors seem very knowlegeable. Read Less

Read Less

Stay away! Read Less

Some of the staff is nice but - this place is sooo over priced... What a rip off. All they care for is to take people's money. I don't reccomend this vet at all.

Read Less
