If you can't make them an everyday vet, they are EXCELLENT if you need a second opinion. I live on the north side and as often as I was taking my geriatric Mastiffs to the vet, I couldn't deal with the traffic. I had a perfectly reasonable vet in Hyde Park.BUT ...I had a foster dog, an English Mastiff named Murray. Murray got free care from the Rescue, but we just couldn't solve his upset tummy. I mean, my backyard looked like a pudding factory exploded. Finally, my friend suggested I take Murray to another vet and pay for it, as the rescue vet was probably understandably overwhelmed. The head of the rescue suggested LABAH since she used to work there. Dr. Spitz looked at Murray and really spent time with him. Decided we didn't have time to troubleshoot, we were just gonna hit him with every solution at once to stop the runny poo. However, the real problem was the two torn ACLs that no one had discovered.GOOD. LORD. HOW DID EVERYBODY MISS THAT?!At this point, Murray was my dog and Dr. Spitz is where I go when I need a second opinion. My Bullmastiff, Lola, seemed to be going to the World Record for Oldest Bullmastiff. Which is awesome, but terrifying. You can't tell if this is a symptom or, well, just something you gotta deal with when your dog is 11 (with a life expectancy of around 7). Being a stoic dog, I worried she was hurting and not showing it. At the same time, I wanted her to have as long as possible.Near the end, LABAH fit me in when I didn't know what to do. They had to help me lift her out of my car. Of course she then returned to herself by the end of the visit, but they didn't make me feel like I was crazy, although at that point I probably was.SO when she was almost 15, I took her in because (as usual) something just wasn't right. This time, another vet noted how pale her gums were. After all I'd been through with Lola, I didn't pay that much mind. But the vet was on it. She was really paying attention to my girl and the gums were the clue to the masses in her spleen. And I have to mention the desk staff. Sweet. Understanding. Bent over BACKWARDS to help Lola and I. Even the other clients were wonderful during this time. A man who was there to put his dog to sleep helped me carry a giant bag of food to my car.If you get stuck, and have a condition that no one else can solve? Go see Dr. Spitz and the other vets at LABAH. They are Navy Seals. Or is that the A-Team? Either way, LABAH makes a plan come together. Read Less
