I've always had a good experience here with Dr. Harris and his staff each time I've brought my dog 16 year old dog Rusty, who has arthritis, in for his exams. HOWEVER, there are SERIOUS, ongoing issues when it comes to getting his prescriptions filled each month for the meds that he takes daily. They dropped the ball this past weekend and did not reply to the fax that Walgreens sent over for a refill, and therefore, Rusty was out of Tramadol on Sunday morning. Well, I panicked, concerned about withdrawals, since it's known to be highly addictive, and everything I've read about it says that you should wean off of it and not stop taking it suddenly. So after driving over to Walgreens and being informed that they never received a fax back from North Austin Animal Hospital approving the refill, and trying unsuccessfully to reach someone by phone, I showed up at the vet's office and knocked on the back door. A kennel staff member answered the door, was very helpful, reached out to the doctor on call, and kept me updated throughout the afternoon. But alas, she eventually called and told me that Dr. Judd refused to refill Rusty's meds until (this morning), although it would have only taken her one quick phone call to help me keep him comfortable through the night. Also, she recommended giving him Benadryl, although that has ZERO effect on pain. Due to my apparently being overly concerned about my dog's pain, and the fact that I showed up to speak to someone in person on a day when they were closed, Dr. Judd is now insinuating (per another staff member) that I am taking the pills myself. And because of that, she says we need to look at other treatment options for my dying dog. So not only did they not reply to the initial fax to fill his medication, when I finally tracked down a doctor she refused to make a quick phone call to do so, and the icing on the cake is that I'm being accused of being a drug addict because I don't want my dog to be in pain. I am hugely disappointed with the whole situation this weekend, and we'll start the process of finding a new vet so that Rusty can comfortably finish out the rest of his years or even months that he has left, by getting his medications in a timely manner without it being such a stressful thing for me to have to deal with month after month.Read Less
