God bless you Dr Spellman and your staff. Recently saw my 16 yr old orange tabby Sugar at the end of her life in kidney failure and were very straight forward and knew what you had to deal with immediately. I lost Sugar on Tuesday. Thank you for caring about us and helping her. I rescued her from the shelter 16 years ago and she rescued me from life.
Even the staff was very caring with her she was not afraid of them. Sorry I don’t know their names. Please thank them for me. I would not hesitate to recommend you to anyone. Thank you for what you do.

We had our cat spayed here and the wound healed very nicely, better than I am used to. The staff is very friendly and knows what they are doing! They are interested in the well-being of the animal and do not try to rip you off with unnecessary treatments. I loved that the vet let us stay in the room as he gave the animals vaccinations so that they could feel safe.

It is run by a friendly and helpful staff (team) and lead by a great Doctor with more experience than you can find almost anywhere. Like any Vet., prices can get high, however Doctor Spellman always has multiple treatment options at different price ranges with your pets best interest in mind. Also has reasonable rates on vaccinations, neuter/spay and office visits.

I've been going to North Lamar Vet Clinic for more years than I can remember. I started taking feral cats there to be spayed or neutered and started taking my pets there shortly thereafter. I got tired of the "let's turn you upside down and shake all the change loose from your pockets" approach my old vet had, and there was a lot of turnover there as well.Dr. Spellman is a one-man office; he's been in the same place since about 1971 and you'll get excellent consistency of care with him. He won't charge you for tests or procedures that aren't needed and he's very straightforward to deal with.He advised me on a dying cat to not try and do anything heroic and he was very upfront with me when it was time to put her to sleep. That's just to say, you can totally trust his professional advice.I love sending people there who, like me, are tired of the typical vet guilt trap and paying way too much for ordinary things like annuals.

I absolutely love Dr. Spellman and his staff. My first visit with him was back in 2014, when I needed to take my cat, Medora, in to get spayed and for a check up. I had been to a lot of vets previously and I was starting to feel like I'd never find a good one until I found him! He was so lovely to her and I was really impressed with his transparency and cut-the-fluff approach when dealing with me. You can tell he is definitely an animal lover and treats my cats so well. I had moved around a bit since I first met him, but since I've been back I have taken one of my newer family members, Louie, in for two checkups and Medora is overdue for her next one! His staff is great, he is fantastic and the pricing is super reasonable. Definitely my one and only for vet care moving forward!

So old school there isn't a 512 by the number on the sign. And I mean that in the best possible way- I absolutely adore this office. Dr. Spelman is wonderful, his staff is so devoted to making sure every patient and guardian is taken care of in the most individualized way. Prices are as low as I think they can possibly be, and as other reviewers have noted they will work with you to make sure your care aligns with your budget. We will never take our dogs anywhere else.

I'll always be loyal to Dr. Spellman, because he was the only one who figured out what was wrong with me cat.
Her original vet was in Bastrop, and they said she had allergies, and kept trying different allergy meds, but nothing worked. She was always covered in scabs from scratching and over-grooming.
After enough money, I gave up on being able to provide her a quality of life, so I decided to have her put down. I didn't want to drive all the way to Bastrop, so I called the closest nearby vet (Dr. Spellman). He said "well I'm not an executioner. I'll do it, but I want a shot." That seemed fair, so I brought the cat in for one last attempt.
He looked at her and almost immediately said "this cat has lupus." Then did some other tests to verify.
We put the cat on lupus meds, and her problems cleared up almost immediately. She was a delightfully happy and affectionate (and scab-free) cat after that.

I JUST got home from taking my little kitty to this Vet. She wasn't doing well when I came home from work/ feverish and walking slowly, lethargic-- I'm living in a new neighborhood, and I searched Yelp for Quick wisdom on somewhere up here to take her straight away. I won't lie- when I pulled up and it didn't look very put together I got super nervous. But the lady on the phone was super sweet when I called so I felt Hopeful. They got me in immediately. No long wait with my cat crying in more pain. Dr. Spellman was calm, and the lady on the phone handled my cat more gently than vets previously (as did their other assistant). Like other reviewers, he was very good at telling me when I could pet and console her and how she might react to certain things they had to do. He was so kind about telling me what my options were, and even when he told the price he asked, "is that going to be OK for you?" So gracious. He also said he could make himself available if things got worse, which immediately put me at ease. What a find. I'm so glad I stumbled on this spot. Thank you fellow yelpers for your reviews!!

I've always been happy with Dr. Spellman - I've been going to him since my dogs were puppies. He is a matter of fact vet and always has the best interest of your pet(s) in mind. He is very gentle with my dogs and it's very clear that he knows what he is doing. If he doesn't think a particular service is necessary, he won't push. But, he'll always suggest what he thinks would be beneficial. The office staff is always very nice and courteous and accommodating with appointments.

This was the worst vet clinic I've ever been to. Dr. Spellman was rude and disrespectful the entire visit. I paid $62 just so he could tell me that nothing was wrong with my dog and that she seems normal. I'm sorry but when your dog is dizzy, running into walls, unable to sit without falling over and won't eat or drink anything, I'm pretty sure something is wrong. He told me, after interrupting me multiple times and rolling his eyes, That she seems fine but he could run test on her if I wanted him to! I was there for a total of 5 minutes. His staff is sweet but this Dr is a jerk!!! Don't go here, it's a waste of your time and money!!!!

Dr. Spellman took good care of my cat for 14 years and I'm now taking my newly adopted dog to him. He has always been straight forward in his approach and doesn't try to do any unnecessary tests to keep costs down. We just adopted a 2 year-old miniature schnauzer about a month ago. Within 2 weeks she became very ill. We had taken her to a vet that was about 10 min from our house. The vet suspected a pancreatic issue but that was ruled out and $700 later the vet still couldn't diagnose her and was recommending an MRI and possible exploratory surgery. I finally did what I should have in the first place and drove the longer distance to Dr. Spellman. He did say that based on the way she presented that he would have initially thought it was a pancreatic issue, too. However, with that ruled out, he was able to re-evaluate and diagnose her with a back injury. Now with two weeks of bed rest (read being crated) she is as good as new. He is very experienced and knows what he is doing. I recommend him to anyone that is needing a new vet.

We had our cat spayed here and the wound healed very nicely, better than I am used to. The staff is very friendly and knows what they are doing! They are interested in the well-being of the animal and do not try to rip you off with unnecessary treatments. I loved that the vet let us stay in the room as he gave the animals vaccinations so that they could feel safe.

North Lamar Veterinary Clinic must be one of the best pet care treatment centers you can find in and around the Austin area. It is run by a friendly and helpful staff (team) and lead by a great Doctor with more experience than you can find almost anywhere. Like any Vet., prices can get high, however Doctor Spellman always has multiple treatment options at different price ranges with your pets best interest in mind. Also has reasonable rates on vaccinations, neuter/spay and office visits.

I've been going to North Lamar Vet Clinic for more years than I can remember. I started taking feral cats there to be spayed or neutered and started taking my pets there shortly thereafter. I got tired of the "let's turn you upside down and shake all the change loose from your pockets" approach my old vet had, and there was a lot of turnover there as well.Dr. Spellman is a one-man office; he's been in the same place since about 1971 and you'll get excellent consistency of care with him. He won't charge you for tests or procedures that aren't needed and he's very straightforward to deal with.He advised me on a dying cat to not try and do anything heroic and he was very upfront with me when it was time to put her to sleep. That's just to say, you can totally trust his professional advice.I love sending people there who, like me, are tired of the typical vet guilt trap and paying way too much for ordinary things like annuals.

I absolutely love Dr. Spellman and his staff. My first visit with him was back in 2014, when I needed to take my cat, Medora, in to get spayed and for a check up. I had been to a lot of vets previously and I was starting to feel like I'd never find a good one until I found him! He was so lovely to her and I was really impressed with his transparency and cut-the-fluff approach when dealing with me. You can tell he is definitely an animal lover and treats my cats so well. I had moved around a bit since I first met him, but since I've been back I have taken one of my newer family members, Louie, in for two checkups and Medora is overdue for her next one! His staff is great, he is fantastic and the pricing is super reasonable. Definitely my one and only for vet care moving forward!

Dr. Spelman is wonderful, his staff is so devoted to making sure every patient and guardian is taken care of in the most individualized way. Prices are as low as I think they can possibly be, and as other reviewers have noted they will work with you to make sure your care aligns with your budget. We will never take our dogs anywhere else.

I'll always be loyal to Dr. Spellman, because he was the only one who figured out what was wrong with me cat.
Her original vet was in Bastrop, and they said she had allergies, and kept trying different allergy meds, but nothing worked. She was always covered in scabs from scratching and over-grooming.
After enough money, I gave up on being able to provide her a quality of life, so I decided to have her put down. I didn't want to drive all the way to Bastrop, so I called the closest nearby vet (Dr. Spellman). He said "well I'm not an executioner. I'll do it, but I want a shot." That seemed fair, so I brought the cat in for one last attempt.
He looked at her and almost immediately said "this cat has lupus." Then did some other tests to verify.
We put the cat on lupus meds, and her problems cleared up almost immediately. She was a delightfully happy and affectionate (and scab-free) cat after that.

We bounced around with other vets in the Austin area until we found our home at North Lamar Veterinary. I would highly recommend Dr. Spellman and his staff. Also, costs are much better than the majority of vets in Austin.

I JUST got home from taking my little kitty to this Vet. She wasn't doing well when I came home from work/ feverish and walking slowly, lethargic-- I'm living in a new neighborhood, and I searched Yelp for Quick wisdom on somewhere up here to take her straight away. I won't lie- when I pulled up and it didn't look very put together I got super nervous. But the lady on the phone was super sweet when I called so I felt Hopeful. They got me in immediately. No long wait with my cat crying in more pain. Dr. Spellman was calm, and the lady on the phone handled my cat more gently than vets previously (as did their other assistant). Like other reviewers, he was very good at telling me when I could pet and console her and how she might react to certain things they had to do. He was so kind about telling me what my options were, and even when he told the price he asked, "is that going to be OK for you?" So gracious. He also said he could make himself available if things got worse, which immediately put me at ease. What a find. I'm so glad I stumbled on this spot. Thank you fellow yelpers for your reviews!!

I've always been happy with Dr. Spellman - I've been going to him since my dogs were puppies. He is a matter of fact vet and always has the best interest of your pet(s) in mind. He is very gentle with my dogs and it's very clear that he knows what he is doing. If he doesn't think a particular service is necessary, he won't push. But, he'll always suggest what he thinks would be beneficial. The office staff is always very nice and courteous and accommodating with appointments.

I paid $62 just so he could tell me that nothing was wrong with my dog and that she seems normal. I'm sorry but when your dog is dizzy, running into walls, unable to sit without falling over and won't eat or drink anything, I'm pretty sure something is wrong. He told me, after interrupting me multiple times and rolling his eyes, That she seems fine but he could run test on her if I wanted him to! I was there for a total of 5 minutes. His staff is sweet but this Dr is a jerk!!! Don't go here, it's a waste of your time and money!!!!

Dr. Spellman took good care of my cat for 14 years and I'm now taking my newly adopted dog to him. He has always been straight forward in his approach and doesn't try to do any unnecessary tests to keep costs down. We just adopted a 2 year-old miniature schnauzer about a month ago. Within 2 weeks she became very ill. We had taken her to a vet that was about 10 min from our house. The vet suspected a pancreatic issue but that was ruled out and $700 later the vet still couldn't diagnose her and was recommending an MRI and possible exploratory surgery. I finally did what I should have in the first place and drove the longer distance to Dr. Spellman. He did say that based on the way she presented that he would have initially thought it was a pancreatic issue, too. However, with that ruled out, he was able to re-evaluate and diagnose her with a back injury. Now with two weeks of bed rest (read being crated) she is as good as new. He is very experienced and knows what he is doing. I recommend him to anyone that is needing a new vet.
