Dr. Strottner and staff (Tabby, Brandon, Amanda) were incredible during a horrible time in our lives. Charlotte, my dog, was clearly very ill, extremely quickly. Our local vet referred us to Gabi. Dr. S went to great lengths to find out what was wrong with Charlotte, was honest with the likely timeline we were looking at and went above and beyond trying to find ways to help Charlotte remain comfortable. I am a nightmare client.I know it. I'm a dog trainer, I'm a controlling person and Charlotte was dog aggressive. I would not allow her to leave my sight, we had to be put in a room immediately -- No waiting in the lobby--, I would call constantly and refuse to leave her even for a drop off appointment. The staff at VCA never once made me feel badly about being such a pain, and even rearranged schedules to accommodate Charlotte and my Special Needs. They walked in front of us to make sure there weren't any innocent bystanders in the lobby, let us stay in exam rooms while we waited for the Radiologist, accommodated sending receipts and invoices for my Dog Insurance, and much much more. Charlotte passed one month from her onset, the eventual tentative diagnosis was Acute Leukemia. It was very advance and aggressive. When she passed they waved the charges for her last blood test, and later sent me a book about Dog Heaven with hand written notes from everyone inside. I hope I never have to see Dr. Strottner and staff again due to the nature of Oncology and what that signifies... But if I do, there is no other Doctor I would trust with my pets well being. Two of my golden retrievers have been treated here - one for cancer and one for inflammatory bowel disease. The treatments were about 2 years apart. When we returned the second time, everyone greeted me and my dog like old friends. During a very stressful time, that helped a lot. When my first dog was treated for cancer, he actually liked going for chemo. He was comfortable there and I think may have fallen in love with his oncologist. :-) He had a prognosis of one month at the time of our first visit and he was alive, with a great quality of life for thirteen months. Quite a gift for him and for me. My second golden had been seriously ill for about 2 weeks and no one could find out what was wrong. The internist here diagnosed him correctly and treated him so that he was happy and eating well. I cannot recommend Dr. Strottner (oncology) and Dr. Stiller (internist) too highly. The techs and front office staff are warm, friendly and at the same time professional. I will bring my dogs back here should the need arise. Read Less

We had an amazing experience at this clinic. Our dog Frisco had a bone tumor in his mouth and received all of his treatment at VCA Veterinary Specialists. Dr. Caplan performed what we thought sounded like a radical surgery to remove the tumor and our dog made a full recovery and is just the same goofy, happy dog as he ever was! Not only is Dr. Caplan incredibly skilled, she also clearly loves the animals--she was so nice to Frisco, always happy to see him and very concerned about his progress--which went extremely great. I would trust them to help Frisco again if he ever needed it, or our newest addition, Finley! Read Less

I have just lost the second pet that I have taken here in less than a year. ALL they seem to care about is money. I received a very expensive medicine from a friend that just lost their pup and was told if I wanted them to treat my pup I had to buy their meds and could not use the exact same one that was sent to me, the same milligram and not expired. So I did. After going in for the next visit not only did I not see the vet I just sat in the lobby with NO update on what was going on with my girl but did get a $300 bill and told to come back in 2 weeks. Not one week later I called as my pup passed out after walking up the stairs. I called and left a VM as it as after hours to not get a return call the next morn so I called again at noon where I as about to be passed off to a vet tech before I said NO I want to talk to the doctor. She was of course busy so I didn't get a return call for several hours later. I also tried to return email to find out that they don't accept incoming emails I had NO idea since I was doing this on my phone. I ended up taking her to my local Vet to find out she was now anemic and her blood levels where off. They sent them over the the VCA in which time I was informed to keep giving her the meds contradicting what my local vet said. 2 days later her blood was so bad I had to make her to Texas aTm vet hospital where they found a tumor in her abdomen that was putting her into septic shock. At this point there was NOTHING we could do and I was advised I needed to put my pride and joy to sleep. They advised me it would not be a good idea to take her home as this was very serious and she could go at any min. So I was there alone not even enough time for my family to come say their good byes. I know from now on when i need real veterinary care i will NOT be going to a VCA 'business' If your pups mean more to you the most people PLEASE do NOT take them to VCA. go to your local vet and have them refer you to Texas aTm small animal hospital. Run free my sweet Stella until we meet again! Read Less

Went through 2 vets to get reccomended to this place because no one could determine what was wrong with my dog. Decided to go through surgery and they quoted me a low end and high end price which was 500-700 difference. The vet looked me in the eye and said it will only be the low end payment, this is a minimal surgery. SOOO come to pick my dog up and the price has gone up $800 OVER the HIGH end price and no one called. I have taken my dog here for check ups and done drops off and I ALWAYS have to call to see how he is doing and if he is ready. They say the vet will call you back as soon as he visits with the dog. This is NOT the case. Be prepared to call multiple times to get updates on your dog or else be prepared to have him left in a kennel at this place ALL day. It if very frustrated for people who work hard to make a living and want to take care of their animals to be treated disrespectful. Obviously there is a lack of communication in this place and a lack of respect for peoples wallets unless you want to apply for a credit card! Don't go here unless he is your last resort! Read Less
