I have been bringing my dog there for weekly baths while my bathroom undergoes remodeling. Ear cleaning and nail trims are included in the basic bath. Only once have they ever completed all three services. I get that nails don't always need to be trimmed, but his nails are clicking on the floor so yes they do need it. I don't know if the staff or the vets are professional but when I walked in the guys at the front desk was rude I have a rescue dog who is very nervous so I asked to stay outside with him and the guy flipped out and says why you don't like it here are we bad with animals what's the problem! so I apologized and we came in and waited for a bit that was no problem but the vet that came in to see him didn't wear gloves while touching on my dogs "areas" and not at all he just looked at him and said oh he's fine. Newly relocated to Beaumont and this is the worst service I've received from anywhere. The lady that answered the phone immediately dismissed me without even asking if I was client. I brought my dog there based on a recommendation from a friend and the vet was superb. Because of the severe nastiness of the person that answered the phone, I would not recommend this place. I'm some what concerned. I dropped off my puppy a few hours ago as he more than likely not going to make it. The doctors assitant was really empathetic however the nurse not so much. I took a foster puppy in that was in bad shape at 5pm. They dropped what they were doing & took care of my puppy even though it was closing time. My puppy was suffering and there wasn't anything we could do but they took time to explain things to me, comfort me and take care of her. They allowed me to be with her until the end, which I appreciate more than they know. This was my first experience with them and despite the circumstances, I walked away grateful for them. They seemed to be over booked because it usually takes just a few minutes to be seen and your out of there within 30 minutes but this time I had to wait to see the doctor because he was in surgery and had to wait for over an hour. The doctor was really nice and didn't have any issues with the staff or him. Just the long wait time and my poor little dog was so nervous from hearing all the other dogs crying and barking it was scaring him. I was exceptionally pleased with my experience here. They were able to see me on short notice, and their prices were very reasonable. Later that same day, my dog got into his medicine and ate all of it -- so I had to bring him back. They helped him immediately and, again, they charged less than I had worried they would. The people at this vet SAVED my precious boston's life! She was in labor for 14 hours without delivering any puppies I had a 200$ budget and was in desperate need to get her taking care of. I had never taken a snake to the vet so I was nervous, but they helped me get my boy fixed up. his swelling is going down at a good pace and he is moving around and happy again. I realize that I'm heart broken right now over the death of my little dog bentley, but I feel like I need to let my friends know my story. Saturday l took bently to Dowlen Road Vet center. Bentley just didn't seem quite right to me. I walked in and was greeted with is this an emergency I said I'm not sure he's just not responding. Because your a walk in it will be awhile before we can see him . I said I'm not a walk in I've been using dowlen vet for 11 years I was treated horrible the doctor came and got bentley from my arms and he said ms duhon I'm going to see bentley and determine if this is an emergency or visit. Blank left me sitting there alone. After his Determination that bentley was really sick he told me they would keep him for iv fluids. Well bentley died on monday. My point is this little baby meant alot to me and this vet made me feel horrible from the start. I am a nurse and I pray that if ever I become so numb that life doesn't matter whether it be a human or an animal please tell me because I don't deserve the honor of being part of your life to help you. There are many veterinary clinics in our area. My daughter routinely uses one in Groves where her animals have receive good care. However, she was looking for a place where she could have her cats front claws removed by laser as the prices in Houston are extremely high. (They are inside only cats who are damaging furniture woodwork in the house and luggage despite the many cat scratching posts, etc in the home,) Their prices are extremely reasonable, the staff warm and friendly, intake and discharge takes place in 2 steps as they are a busy, large practice. All questions regarding the procedure were answered. They took a complete history of the cats' health including immunizations, flea, tick rxs. The staff explained that they will be staying overnight and asked if she wanted additional pain medicine to be given later which she had did. This is optional.  There was a one time cost to having them microchipped. Some businesses require a yearly fee as well. They were in great condition when they were picked up the next afternoon. They were given special litter upon discharge. What I really liked about this practice and have never seen in my many years in SE TX was the emphasis on helping animals who needed homes. There were 4 dogs individually behind clear doors with a cute sign saying, "Ring a bell, win a dog!" The story of the dog and it's adoption cost is clearly marked. There were cats needing homes as well. There is an enormous range of animal foods available, dental brushes, paste, toys. They accept Care Credit credit cards as well as major credit cards, checks and cash. Not only do they care for the normal household pet, I learned that they are well versed in larger animals. I met Dr. Nicholson  at the Beaumont Animal Shelter in May 2016 when I was looking for a new pet. I was impressed with his kindness and caring attitude. It was in the package of information given to me that I learned about this clinic, their range of services and prices. I have found that those vets who work in association with rescues and shelters are the most compassionate, caring vets. Their goal is to not only help those clients and owners in their practices but to reduce the number of animals who are put to sleep because of overpopulation. The ride to Beaumont is worth the small amount of time to do so. We were completely thrilled with Dowlen Road Veterinary Center. Read Less

We have been taking our pets to Dowlen Road Vet for almost a year now. The service is great, and the people are friendly. I love the vet there, and am happy to pay a little extra for the care they give my pets. The vet deserves 5 stars... HOWEVER, I gave them three stars because of the groomer... The groomer is technically separate from them, but they do advertise for her in their clinic and on their website. And there is no where else that I can write a review for her, so here we go. I have brought my pet to the groomer there a total of three times. She has you bring your pet in early in the morning and you leave them there until 5 or 5:30 (which I don't like). Then you have to describe what you want done for your pet on a piece of paper. ( I did not personally meet the groomer until my third visit). The basic price for grooming is 65, but you have to pay extra for cleaning the glands, teeth brushing, pretty much anything besides a bath and haircut. So I usually end up paying close to 90 for the groom. Other than these three things, I didn't have a major issue with the groomer until my third visit. After the third visit, I brought my dog home and found mats all over his legs. I called the next morning to complain and the groomer called me back saying that my dog would not tolerate her brushing out the mats and that his legs would have to be shaved. I said "Ok, shave them. I wish you would have talked to me about this yesterday and we could have had it taken care of then." (I don't think anyone would want their dog to still have matted hair after paying $90 to get him groomed). I also found out that the groomer doesn't even get into the office until 12 or 1 in the afternoon...So why do I have to bring my dog in at 8:30 in the morning? Anyways, I bring my dog back in and she brushed the mats out! She didn't shave him like we discussed, and it makes me think that he could tolerate the brushing and it was just her poor excuse for bad grooming. She then informs me that in the future if I want his mats brushed out I will have to pay an extra $20. This expense is NOT listed on the list of "extra" expenses on the sheet I have to fill out each time (I guess they do not keep a grooming record of how you like your dog groomed?). And then, less than a week after all this, I find a HUGE mat behind one of my dogs ears.. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? Needless to say, I WILL NOT be going to this groomer again. Read Less

I've got a pet chameleon and have done a pretty good bit of research on the diseases they could get. He was starting to show obvious signs of RI and I went there to get medicine for him. All they did was look at him for like 5 minutes and say he was okay and not give me any medicine all they gave me was a print out of the basics of how to care for a chameleon. Read Less

This is a higher end boutique type place. They are certainly there to make $$. That being said, when I brought my cat in for life or death treatment, they were kind enough to extend me credit to treat him. Every vet we've seen there really cares about the animals and that's all I could ever ask for. That said, we've used "their" groomer 3 times now. They claim not to be associated with the groomer "side", yet they are who you pay. They cannot give you quotes as to cost. And it's next to impossible to speak to a groomer. Last time we had 2 babies, in for shaving, bathing and the works. We paid over $150 per pet and neither had been bathed. We got them home and the loose fur and dander brushed right off all over the place. Their ears had not been cleaned nor their claws trimmed. We haven't been back for grooming! Read Less

Dowlen road animal clinic is one of the best veterinary clinics I have ever gone to and even though I now live almost 100 miles away, I drive all the way back to Beaumont for the care I receive from this clinic and specifically Dr. Lehman Custer. I have raised tiny Yorkshire terriers for years so I am very familiar with many of the vets in Beaumont. Although I have nothing but good things to say about my experiences with these other vets, dowlen road animal clinic is far superior in progressive treatment and knowledge of the latest cutting edge technology. If you are looking for a new vet, don't hesitate to call dowlen road animal clinic and book an appointment with Dr. Custer or one of the other great doctors at this clinic. You will be glad you did. I boarded my dogs thinking they would be well taken care of only to find that one of them lost 20 pounds, I called every week to make sure they were eating and was told that they were eating all of their food and were fine but when I went to check on them one of them had lost 20 pounds and looked emaciated I could see all of his ribs he looked pitiful I'm very upset about this I feel like I have paid them to starve my dog, how could they not notice they are supposed to be weighing them every week how does something like this go unnoticed?
