This clinic's tactic is to get you to buy the medicine from them. They won't deal with online pharmacies but they'll gladly sell you the same medicine at double the price. This place might be cheap for a consultation but the front desk staff really lacks in customer service so you get what you're paying for. The lady with the horrible attitude named Rhonda will lie to your face and claim what she said to you hours before on the phone and in person are just tricks of your imagination. I brought my puppy here for an intial visit. The doctor failed to mention anything about heartworm prevention which is a big thing here in Texas. I did receive a sample treatment among a bunch of brochures but no prescription to buy elsewhere. She wants you to buy only from her at highly inflated prices. Read Less

The veterinarian does a great job, but it is not worth having to deal with the front desk staff. They are the face of the company, the people who talk on the phone representing the vet to paying customer bringing them business. I have been going to this clinic for 11 years with a cat and now three dogs, about once a month (since my dogs are old.)  Dr. Rowe is spectacular.  She is attentive, she answers all your questions, and she is conservative in treatment, which I love.  She will not order unnecessary tests and she charges very fair prices.  The clinic is older but very clean.  Also, their costumer care is top-notch: I have three little boys that I often must wrangle while taking in two large dogs to this clinic; I have had this staff come out to my car to retrieve my dogs and then bring them back out to me so I could stay in my car with my kids and new baby.  Now, this is not my usual modus operandi, but I cannot tell you what a HUGE help that was at that time--and they did it so cheerfully!  Dr. Rowe has also begun having her staff call me a few days after bringing in my dogs to see if their issues are resolving or if I have any questions, which I really like and appreciate.  I love this clinic and highly recommend it. This Vet office had the dates wrong for my friends dog and didn't get the parvo shots at the right time.  Treated my friend horrible when her beloved dog got parvo.  Didn't take responsibility for their mistake or offer assistance with treatment.  Beware. Read Less

Dr. Rowe has been our vet for over 13 years with the exception of cases when we've had to rush some of them to an emergency vet. I've read some older reviews complaining about staff, or the clinic not taking new patients. Dr. Rowe has relatively new staff that I personally think are great. I don't think you can fault a vet for not taking on new clients if they can't accomodate any more patients, but I think she does take new patients now. I've never had a better vet. We've lost a few of our pets over the many years to unavoidable heath issues like cancer; old age; etc., but Dr. Rowe and her staff are very compassionate and professional. They make a tough decision to put a pet to sleep easier when it eases the pain and torment of your loved ones. I consider myself lucky to have Dr. Rowe and her staff for our family. Read Less

Last January 2016 Dr. Rowe and I had to put down my sweet yellow Lab, Jake, at almost 13 yrs old due to internal cancer. It nearly killed me too, but the kindness and gentleness Dr. Rowe and her staff showed Jake and me was professional and as painless as it could possibly be for both of us. I have been going to Dr Rowe for about 20 years and can not say enough great things about her. She is reasonably priced, and the way she has cared for all of our pets is amazing. I've been going to Dr Rowe for 13 yrs..she cares for all 4 of my fur babies..recently my SayDee "who is a 14 yr old pitbull" recently got really sick..she lost a good 12 lb.though this scary ordeal...what she had was viral...also found out kidney counts wasn't where it should be....she had to be force fed. ..she no appitite. ..this lasted for 3 weeks. . Dr Rowe and the staff at Bedford Oaks are absolutely the best at what they do. They have take. Care of our pets and kept them healthy and when the time came that we had to put out beagle of 14 years down they were the most compassionate group. My Boy has been here twice now and this is now his regular vet! Dr. Rowe is amazing. She thoroughly checks everything and explains what she is doing as she does it. She does not try to find something wrong in order to make money, if the dog is fine she says just keep an eye on it and if things get worse than this is what we will do and she explains what that would be. When I needed a local Vet for my new dog, I turned to a long time dog owner friend to recommend one.  Since her vet was not close by she posted on Facebook that she was looking and where she needed iit to be.Within 10 minutes she a had 6 to 7 strong recommendations for Dr. Rowe and Bedford Oaks Animal Clinic.  I thought that was amazing.We needed shots, spay and a general check up.  When it was all said and done my girlfriend said that Dr. Rowe was more than reasonably priced compared to her  experiences.In addition, those who recommended Bedford Oak Animal Clinic were spot on as far as Dr. Rowe's demeanor, knowledge, practicality and staff.  Everyone we have worked with there is knowledgeable, kind, capable and loves all the animals that come iin.  My sister takes her cat and dog here as well and continues to recommend Dr. Rowe as well. I have been going to Bedford Oaks for a long time now. I have a little ole guy yorkie with severe allergy issues. Dr. Rowe is amazing. We have been to other Vets including dermatologist & each time feel we are being milked for money, I have never felt this way with Dr. Rowe. Dr. Rowe always tries the find the least expensive soluttion. I will tell you a short story too...I was driving one day, saw a little dog in the road that appeared to be hit & dead so I thought well at least let me pull him out of the road to keep him from continuing to be hit. When I started to pull him out of the road he lifted his little head at me & was crying...I was devistated. I scrambled to get him to the closest vet office, went to about three, all three were awful & wouldn't even look at him or scan him for a chip without money being on the table...it was discusting. I finally got one place to scan him, I called the owner & suggested the owner take him to Dr. Rowe b/c she has a heart & cares. The family took him to Dr. Rowe who saw him, treated him & were so wonderful to this family. The dog is doing great, no major injuries accept some bruising. The family still send me pics to show how great he is doing. I thought Vet offices should have some kind of heart at least just to look at the poor guy but all of them requested money up front. I realize that it is a thin line & they don't want to treat the dog without consent, without funds, I get all that but at least just look at him. Bedford Oaks did not ask for money up front & appeared to be more concerned for the dog which is what I thought all vets would do...they don't! Bedford Oaks is wonderful. It's not that fancy but it appears they put more money into accomodating the animals than the humans having pretty things to look at. I love this place & would recommend them to anyone. Read Less

I am a first time dog owner and had no idea where to take my dog. A friend recommended this place to me and I couldn't be happier. They are very patient with my shy dog and Dr. Rowe spent the extra time with me after the exam to answer every question I could think of.  You aren't going to get a big fancy facility but you will get a nice, safe, caring place where you dog is their #1 priority. Their prices are also the best I've found anywhere. Getting my 3 yr old dog spayed cost less than $200 and other places I called wanted to charge over $300 which I think is ridiculous. Read Less

I just moved to the area a couple months ago and had my dog checked out before I left my last residence. He started having some problems soon after moving here.  I went to this veterinarian based on the reviews on Yelp and they were correct. It is an old building yes but the care I received for my Jack Russell Terrier was great. I was concerned because he's older and I was preparing myself for a couple hundred dollars since that's been my experience in the past with other Vet offices but my charge including his medication was less than $60.  The Vet was very kind and knowledgable explaining everything and was concerned about my dog. She even said if he got better to just cancel my follow up appointment! You ever hear that from a Vet? They usually want you to come back so they can charge you even more although it may not be necessary.  I have found my Vet for my dog I will defiantly be back.Okay... I have to update my review. The Vet called me today to check on how my dog was doing. I have never had a vet do a follow up call about my animal.  That right there verifies what I said before, she is a very caring person. The worst experience here.  Walked in two days ago to ask about getting some prescription dewormer.  Receptionist said we had to bring cat in.  Went today with the cat, however same receptionist was too busy getting ready for lunch and then told us we had to have an appointment.  NEVER mentioned or offered to make an appointment when we were there two days ago when we said we would bring the cat in.  As soon as we walked out, the entire staff jetted out the door like there was a free lobster buffet somewhere. Excellent value and caring and knowledgeable Dr. Rowe is a pet lovers vet. She keeps costs down and shows genuine kindness, compassion and love of animals. I love Dr. Rowe because she really cares about our pets. One of our dogs is very skittish and Dr. Rowe knelt down on the floor with me to examine my dog instead of insisting my dog be lifted onto the exam table. Dr. Rowe is also willing do have customers drop off their dogs and see the dogs between appointments if the customer is not able to book an appointment soon. In addition, there have been several front desk and vet assistant changes for the better. As for the previous comment about the place being dirty, it isn't, it's is just in an older part of town and the furniture is well loved. I wouldn't put a new couch in a vet's office anyway. Dr. Rowe is an AMAZING Veterinarian. No, the clinic is not the cleanest I've ever seen but it is an ANIMAL clinic. Some messes are to be expected. Dr. Rowe is very caring and only does the work that needs to be done. She doesn't push anything that is not necessary and charges less than any other clinic. Hated to have to find a different Vet for my dogs, but the front desk service (employees) was very bad. I was late 5 minutes to my appointment, but the receptionists kept answering phones, talking with people that were leaving after their appointments, that by the time they checked me in it was already 15 minutes later. Then after waiting 40 minutes I was told that I had arrived late (15 minutes) and that I would have to reschedule. I didn't want to argue with them so I left. The place is really dirty, but I was willing to put up with it because the doctor was really good and caring. This just pushed me to find a different place -- clean --- to take my dogs. Read Less

I have taken my pets to Dr. Rowe for over 20 years -- before she was at this clinic. Whenever our pets have a serious condition we value her opinion enough to drive up from Austin with all our pets (two of our cats made it to be 18 yrs old).. The fact that she is not accepting new patients should not effect this vet's reputation. She is an outstanding practitioner, a kind and caring animal lover, and gives more every day than any vet in the metroplex. This is why she has been inundated with so many patients that she can no longer have a wide-open practice. I guarantee if she was able to treat all the animals of the world without compromising the care to her current patients, she would. I suggest finding someone to treat your pet for the time being, but do not criticize or defame this outstanding woman's character or practice because she is not currently accepting new patients.
