PROS: Warm, patient, and thorough service from Dr. Winston and the other vets he has on rotation when he is out, the vet techs, as well as the office staff - each and every one of them treats my dog as if he was their own. Dr. Winston and his staff are all very talented and seem to have a bit of intuition where animals are concerned, which can only be acquired from decades of observing and caring for pets. Appointments are usually easy to get at convenient times but when my dog has needed urgent care they have always told me to come right in, which no other vet in this area has done for me. They also have reasonable charges for services. No pushy sales or services, just straight forward caregiving. CONS: They can't clone themselves. NOTES: located at 620 on the corner of Falconhead, the shopping center sits back behind a bank so their store front is not easily visible from 620 but there is a very easy in/out from Falconhead Blvd or southbound 620. Village Vet is the best vet clinic you can ever hope to find. Dr.Eric Winston is one of the most lovable, caring and wonderful human beings you will ever meet. He loves every pet as if it was his own and treats your pet as well as its owners with lots of love, tenderness and respect. HE knows his craft very well and is a very charming individual who exudes a love for what he does We bought our rescue lab who we just happened to name Winston to village vet in April of 2015. we had just picked him up from the pound and he was close to death, after having been abandoned in the wild for many months by his original human excrement owners. He was emaciated, had a fever of 105, anemia, over 300 ticks on him and 2 upper respiratory infections. We called village vet and told them the situation and even though they were booked solid that day, they told us to bring him in as soon as possible.From the first moment we walked in we knew we were in the right place.We were met at the front desk by Lara and Kirstin and they were so loving and friendly to our little boy as well as to both my wife and I. We were then seen by DR. She and Kim. While DR. She is no longer with village vet, she was truly wonderful , loving and tender towards our little boy and Kim who is one of Dr. Winston's most valuable and knowledgable staff members was truly amazing. Kim saw all the ticks that were lodged deep all over our little boy and started picking off as many as she could with her bare hands in the most tender way possible. After doing a full battery of tests and blood work on our little boy, DR. Winston called us a couple of days later and spent more than 20 minutes on the phone with me discussing the results and how to move forward in treating our little precious boy.He answered all my questions in depth and with a great and friendly demeanor. Within 3 months after taking our little boy to DR. Winston he was finally healthy.All the ticks , the 2 upper respiratory infections as well as the 2 separate tick infections, and the anemia were gone and our little Winston had gone from an emaciated 60 pounds to a healthy 85 pounds. We have been to village vet many times since that first visit to have Winston treated for the seasonal hill country allergies as well as all the normal things dogs go through and every time we have had a great experience and left knowing our little boy was in the best hands possible. I must also commend DR. Winston for hiring only the best. All the staff members are loving and wonderful and treat your pet as if it was their own. From Lara who is known as the Hugger because she gives lots of love and treats to your pet. From the moment you walk in you are greeted with her warm smile and disposition that makes the pet owner feel welcome and loved. Then there is Kirstin who is usually at the front desk and answers the phone, and who is always very patient, loving and helpful in answering your questions and making you feel at ease. Can't say enough wonderful things about Kim who is just such a kind ,knowledgable and amazing animal lover. Watch out Cesar Milan, you got some competition in Kim. Then there is Greg who is just one of the sweetest, kindest and most comforting vet techs you and your animal could ask for. If you are looking for a vet that will take amazing and trustworthy care of your pet and a staff that loves what they do and is every bit as important as DR. Dr. Winston and his staff (Kim, Judy, Lara) have been taking wonderful care of our 2 dogs, Moses & Jewel for years. Sadly, we had to say goodbye to Moses last week. This organization is a joke. This clinic DOES NOT take any responsibility for anything! It has been over a week since since my dog was seen by them and he has barely moved since we got him back. Our dog went in for routine shots & came back in worse condition with blood in his stool. A week later he is extremely lethargic and barley moves. As a first time pet owner, they answered all of my questions very patiently and directed me to the right resources to get all the paperwork done. Dr. Winston and his staff are absolutely wonderful! I wish I had found them years ago (even though we previously lived out of state). I took my senior dog in due to a growth in his eyelid and a large tumor on his leg. Dr. Winston provided me with so muchmore information than 3 previous vets had. He did a needle biopsy, chest X-rays and drew blood for lab work (and clipped his nails since he was lying down!) and we were in and out in an hour. He even called on a busy Saturday to say his blood work looked good. We have definitely found our go-to vet!!! Read Less

Our experience with Dr. Winston and his staff has always been great!! They are so accommodating and very professional. Dr. Winston truly cares for all his patients, as does Judy and the rest of the staff. He always takes his time and answers all questions without you ever feeling that he is rushing you through. We had an emergency with our puppy last summer and he and Judy came on a Sunday morning and took care of our pet. All of our experiences have been outstanding!!Read Less

Dr. Winston and his staff are compassionate and competent. Unfortunately, they lobbied me for years to have my bulldog castrated, claiming that he would be happier. I do not know how to measure a dog's happiness except for their joy. Until Jake was castrated, he was full of energy and delighted in my presence. Now, following his castration, he is lethargic and seems not to recognize me. Dr. Winston knows little about this type of alpha-male. I know he makes money by doing procedures, but this was wrong. Jake was happy and adored being with me as my best friend. Now, he seems like a dog I hardly know.Read Less

Dr. Winston has created something special at Village Vet. We have 4 dogs and have been to multiple vets while living in TX, CA, NC, and VT so we know an outstanding vet when we find one. His care is excellent, his facility is outstanding, and his prices are very reasonable. There are lots of vets in Austin, but the short drive to see Dr. Winston is absolutely worth it! Even when we travel with our dogs, Dr. Winston is always available by phone. His only downfall is that he is an Aggie, but after you meet him you won't hold that against him. Read Less
