Great staff! Dr. Deweeze and Dr. Raymer are wonderful vets. The medical care my animals receive is always terrific. It is also clear that both vets love their jobs and the animals they care for. The office staff and the vet techs are also knowledgeable and clearly love the four legged clientele. The clinic is always spotless in both the waiting are and exam rooms. Chestnut is awesome...everyone had been so friendly! They took a lot of time to get to know us and our dog when we first came in. Most recently we needed to do some tests and paperwork so our dog could travel with us out of the country. Tina was so helpful and basically handled the whole process for us. Our precious baby passed away tonight due to a misdiagnosis from Chestnut. Our beautiful black lab of just 6 years was diagnosed a year ago with a stomach upset. A few weeks ago we noticed similar symptoms, more dramatic and swollen sides. We took her to our vet at Chestnut explaining her extreme symptoms and felt she might have a blockage. We were informed again it was a stomach upset, no blockage and she would be fine with medicine and food alternates prescribed by the the vet. She went up and down these past few weeks. I called again and asked for more special food as nothing was sticking to getting her back to normal. Today a look in her eyes, labored breathing and week movement, she needed to be seen again. Her up and down was caused by internal bleeding...as she absorbed it, she seemed energetic and normal going up and down with symptoms...making us feel like she would be ok with more medicine and perscribed food. I called again today to Chestnut and I was told there wasn't availability and if we felt it couldn't wait, take her to thier recommended hospital. We decided to take her to Westbury Animal hospital instead . One look and right away they knew our precious baby was in bad shape. The white eyes, same swollen belly, white ears, etc...all signs of severe illness. The tests confirmed what the vet thought right off the bat...cancer...a tumor. A tumor was found on her spleen the size of a football. The cancer had spread all over her body. Her blood platelets where so low, there was no way they could even do surgery. There was no hope for our beloved baby. If this was caught a year ago...OR maybe, just maybe a few weeks ago, she might have survived with treatment and surgery. We will never know. They could t understand how Chestnut could have been so off with such obvious signs and not to properly test. For those invested in thier vet at Chestnut, go with your gut...ask for testing. I blame ourselves too for not asking the right questions and not going with our gut to push for testing. Such a heartbreaking loss. To make it harder is she has a standing appointment in the morning at Chestnut where I will need to call to cancel because our baby is gone. Read Less

Chestnut is sincerely the best place for your fur babies. Why? My dogs have all pulled to go visit there when we passed by on our walks. That says it all! I love the staff and every dog I've had loved them just as much. When each of my previous dogs passed, Chestnut sent us a card with a heartfelt message and it made me feel better knowing how well they were cared for from beginning to end.Read Less

Best vet we've ever been to.  The entire team at Chestnut is outstanding; you can tell they genuinely love what they do.  They went above and beyond in getting us through a recent difficult situation.Our two dogs were extremely ill, one after the other.  We ended up having to take them both to GCVS for surgery (at Chestnut's recommendation), but it was the post-operative care they received at Chestnut that saved the day.    Unfortunately, one of our boys had to be put to sleep, and I cannot imagine a more sensitive handling than what their team provided.  I highly recommend, based not only on my experience, but the fact our dogs looked forward to going to a vet for the first time in their lives. I passed by two have my two new kittens checked to make sure they were in good health right after being fixed. The vet and vet technician were very gentle with them making sure they were comfortable the whole exam visit. Definitely recommend taking your cats here . Read Less

Our dog was terribly ill and Chestnut Animal hospital was able to work us right in. They were so sweet to my pup and treated him conservatively which saved us heaps of money. He is all better now! My pets have all loved coming here. When we pass by it on our walk, my dogs pull to go inside which is a good thing but also sometimes annoying ;) The staff have always been so sweet and knowledgable. I can call with questions anytime and not feel ashamed or embarrassed. I love that they remember our pets' names and my name! Adopted a little canine friend from BARC and brought him to Chestnut for his consultation and examination. When adopted I was told he was 14 weeks old and Chestnut told me he is actually 10 weeks! Out vet is Dr. DeWees who both my puppy and I love. He took the time to answer all of my questions, correct any misconceptions I had on puppy training and even demonstrate a few things. All staff members were sweet, welcoming and helpful. We will be returning for the next few months for boosters, heart worm and flea medication. Read Less

As with the other reviews I too have found Chestnut to be more then outstanding, they really care about their pet clients and the pet's human as well. My cats are my babies and I lost one a few years ago to kidney failure and the staff at this clinic were so companionate and understanding, I literally could not stop crying for days. I recently adopted a rescue dog and wanted to get him thoroughly checked out. I was referred here by a friend and I'm so glad that I brought my dog here. The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. They treated my dog with great care and made sure to address all his needs. Because I had adopted him from a rescue, they gave me a complimentary exam! My only bill was for the heartworm medication. I like that they aren't trying to push any additional tests or vaccines. I trust these Vets.  I have two cats and both have been treated here. Staff is very helpful and prices are reasonable.  Vinny had a flea problem even though he's on frontline monthly,  the receptionist suggested ADVANTAGE and sold us a 2 month supply.  All it took was one treatment and fleas were gone! The vet was scared of my dog and would not examine my dog properly. My dog was afraid but having a vet that was afraid didn't help.  Due to the lack of proper treatment, my dog went undiagnosed for about 18 months to find out she had a nasal tumor. She was treated for a sinus infection and given lots of antibiotics.  A family friend referred us to a specialist where we received the actual diagnosis. The vet at chestnut did not aid in diagnosing or treating the cancer. I will never return.  Her next vet had no problems examining her because he knew how to handle fearful animals. Read Less

Ok so I'm a bit biased. I used to work here as a tech during my years in high school and college. But I love this place....it's like a 2nd home. Been taking my dog here ever since he started to have skin allergies when he was a pup....we have to come in for periodic maintenance. The staff is warm and understanding and when i come to pick up my dog he looks like he's had the best day ever :) Even though I've moved out to I-10 and B8 area, I will ALWAYS make the drive for these wonderful vets! I've been taking my multi pet household to Chestnut for almost 10 years now... and when i say multi pet household, I mean I've had as many as 12 cats and dogs. I highly recommend Dr. Raymer and Dr. DeWees. I've had pets with multiple issues from diabetes, orthopedic issues, arthritis, kidney and heart problems... and had to put a few of my pets to sleep over the last 10 years. I would not go anywhere else. The vets and staff are very caring and understanding and they make smart decisions about diagnosing and care. And the staff does not have a lot of turn over.
