Thx for canceling my appointment, i explained that long travel could be leathal due to being full of eggs that are thin shelled..they are the closest vet. , all i need is an injection of oxytosin to induce labor..very simple, called me back asking me to take my 40lb sulcatta on a 2-3hr round trip ride to another vet... wow , basically suggested death how irresponsible, completly shocked and dissapointed. I had been using this facility for the past 3 years for my 2 dogs. They were fine for normal run of the mill visits. My 7 yr old dog had major surgery on a Thursday and they did not do a follow up phone call just to check in with us to see how she was doing. They also did not call me before the surgery for the pre-op procedures that was required. I called 2 days prior and the front desk failed to mention the required antibiotic shot that should have been done 24 hrs before the surgery. My dog had been waiting 2 weeks for this procedure. I called and spoke to the vet and he said that a follow up phone call was not something that he felt was important and that it was my responsibility to call if I had any questions. He did not care about my concern and had no customer service or empathy. He said he checked on the animal the day after and everything looked fine. That he referred to my fur baby as The Animal really showed me that he has no compassion or understanding of the relationship that pets have with their owners. I will no longer be using VCA for any services. My customer loyalty and satisfaction is not important to Dr. Bearden at the VCA in Benbrook. You do not deserve my business. Read Less

VCA Mercedes Place is a quality care center for your pet. I've never gotten more that the best service from them for our animals. I've tried cheaper vets but they ended up not being cheaper nor did they perform all the necessary services required. You get what you pay for in life and with VCA Mercedes Place the quality and care is second to none. I've only worked with Dr. Burk and Dr. Bearden, but both have been fantastic. Highly recommend! I got my kitten, Shadow, Sunday night. I made her an appointment that night for Tuesday online, which was super easy. Our first visit was free, even got a goodies bag. Everyone was nice and respectful. We saw Dr. Becky Burk who was AMAZING. She explained everything to me and i didn't feel rushed. They also have a wonderful care plan that i will be signing up for in about 2 weeks. I loved this place, i feel confident that even if i move i will still make the drive just to come here! Read Less

We have had many animals and been with this clinic since it was on Mercedes. Dr. Murphey has been our long time vet and is very knowledgeable, resourceful, and compassionate. Several other vets have filled in over the years if she wasn't there and they were also great. The staff is exceptional in care and customer service. They have helped my many pets through very difficult surgeries and saved their lives time and time again. They also provided compassionate end of life care when needed for my older guys' final exits. Dr. Hampton and Dr. Murphy are wonderful. My spaniel mix suddenly had seizures at age 14, and they guided me through caring for her and worked with me until we found the right combination of medications. She lived another 19 months! I have boarded my miniature Dachshund at VCA Mercedes Place Animal Hospital for about 3 years when I traveled and never thought I would have a complaint but now I do. I left Harley there for 6 days while on vacation this month. On previous visits he would come home bouncing around and acting normally, not seeming stressed out at all. When I picked him up this time he smelled terrible and his doggie bed was wet and smelled as bad as he did. It was a urine smell and I bathed both Harley and the bed the minute I got home. Harley followed me constantly for 2 days after returning home and my husband said he howled at the door every time I left to run errands. I remember the receptionist commenting that he ran around and around in circles while in his pen which was surely a sign of stress. The lady who had always taken him back to the kennel when I dropped him off and picked him up was not the lady who handled him this time. I can only conclude the lady who ran the kennel so well is no longer there and I question the commitment and experience of the new person. He was not ill and was eating normally when I brought him home and after a few days settled down but I won't go back. Read Less

Dr. Murphy was extremely rude and condescending after I took our dog to another clinic who could do in house lab work. I did this in hopes to get the results sooner and then sent to Dr. Murphy. It ended up not working out that way which was not their fault, but when they did get the lab work, they insisted I pay a $35 fee for the dr to review the lab work. I agreed. I was then told I would have to wait because Dr. Murphy wouldn't be back in the office for a couple of days. I was told if I wanted the results that day, I would have to pay for another office visit and the $35 fee to have another vet review the results? I waited until Dr. Murphy was back in the office. She got an attitude about having the blood work done somewhere else and made several snide comments during our conversation. Even after this, I decided to have them treat my dog. At the end of our phone conversation, Dr. Murphy told me that she would transfer me to the front desk to make an appointment. I sat on the phone for a bit and then the call disconnected. I thought she may have accidentally hung up. When I talked to her again she basically called me a liar and said that I was supposed to call back to make the appointment. It's ridiculous and petty for a professional to act this way because she was upset that we went somewhere else for blood work. I have never taken the time to write a bad review, ever, but I decided to this time and hopefully that will convey how bad my experience was.Read Less
