This was our first visit, and based on arecommendation from a friend with extensive experience with Herbst.
We were not disappointed! From the receptionist to the technicians to Dr. Rodenbeck who performed the procedure, we could not been more welcomed or made comfortable. Schatzi, our Lab, came through with no problems and is recovering amazingly fast.
Herbst is now our animals' hospital!

Once I checked in we had to wait about 30 minutes BUT I would definitely say it is worth the wait. The vet, Dr Jones, was very nice and thorough in explaining my dogs condition (a torn acl) and what our realistic options were and the prices we were looking at. He went over everything and took his time with us. I was very impressed. My boyfriend lives over an hour away and he wants to start bringing his dog there! Check out was a long process and the front desk didn't even address us to say it would be a few minutes and to take a seat, but they were friendly when they did get to us.

Everyone is very nice and like any good doctor they spend the time they need to with their patients to make sure everyone leaves feeling good about their pet's health. I just want to acknowledge Dr Quinn for care that has exceeded expectations on multiple occasions. He has taken care of our bunny when she presented with several odd issues. Each time, he has consulted with Texas A&M to insure he was headed in the right direction with the treatment or to provide me with the best info on the case. This was not necessary or expected, but he went above and beyond. As a healthcare provider for people, I recognize good (and poor) care when I see it. I am very thankful that we found Dr Quinn for our bunny!
The front desk and vet tech staff are also very professional and friendly. I highly recommend this office.

My dog Coco woke up very ill yesterday morning, I called Herbst and they said bring her right in. We saw a new vet, Dr. Kimball and she was wonderful. After multiple tests, we found she had acute Pancreatitis. Coco is staying a couple of days to get healed and Dr. Kimball has called yesterday evening and this morning to let me know how she is progressing (and she is getting better) which is such a wonderful thing to keep me constantly informed! I cannot thank the staff enough, from the front desk, the vet techs and Dr. Kimball for being so wonderful to my furry babies. All the doctors and staff are top notch!

Had only been here for a few days when I noticed something going on with my pup. Gave them a call and was asked to come right in. Greeted by a wonderfully friendly staff, easy and quick paperwork then taken right in by a very knowledgeable technician. Shortly thereafter my pup was examined by the veterinarian. She was smart and sweet and answered all my questions. I was greatly relieved to discover it was nothing serious. When checking out I happily discovered that the cost of the visit was very reasonable. In fact it was so much lower than I would have expected. The fellow with the long scraggly beard. He's been there forever. I tried a number of times to get hold of someone in mgt. there, but suspect my communiques were being intercepted and removed by him.

We have been going to Herbst since we moved to Texas in 2013. Our beloved dog, Emzy, had a very complex heart condition. Dr. Jones took incredible care of her for her last three years and came to our home for her final visit. Having her euthanized at age 13.5 years in our home was the only way to say goodbye. We also take our two cats to Herbst. Once again...great, professional, experienced vet care. Dr. Jones even took the time to return a phone call regarding selection of a new dog and did not charge. Front office staff is so kind and professional. You will also notice this practice is community oriented, often taking up a collection for another family in need. 5 stars and more if I could post them.

While everyone there would get 5 stars, their prices are astronomical! $230.00 just to tell me my dog is blocked up! Yes they took x-rays, trimmed her toenails, and gave her an injection, but there's NO WAY it cist that much. I've taken her to the vet in Indiana for the exact same problem and only paid $87.00. My dog is my life, but that type of money is ridiculous. I'll call around first before I go there again. Even driving to San Antonio for more affordable care would be worth it.

He did not inform the doctor about shots. So my dog got Rabbi shots he didn't need. When I came to pick our dog up I was tooled our dog received Raby shots I was furious. It's too bad you have personnel like Chris not following through with instructions. Our dog had a three-year rabies shot six months ago. Now he's doubled up on Raby shots they're not happy about that.

As soon as you walk-in you are greeted with warm smiles and enthusiasm. The waiting area is clean and full of nice local folks. The Vet techs and Doctors are always very nice, professional and make your and your pets visit fun and inviting! (As you can see from our selfie:) The always take time to answer all our questions, we never feel rushed and our animals always love to see them... SPRAY CHEESE!! I've been taking my pets here since moving to the San Antonio area a year ago and I am very happy with this vet hospital. My dog is has some health issues and Herbst, specifically Dr. Shaw, worked with me to get my dog the right treatment she needed. She understood my concerns, always provided me with detailed information regarding treatment options, etc and understood when I was being an overly nervous "parent". They also have a good relationship with pet medication companies to help you get meds specifically tailored for your animal. Herbst has a great website that allows you to view your pets' records and see when they are coming due for shots. However, even if you don't look online, they are great about sending email reminders to help you keep track. Any issues I have had with Herbst were quickly addressed and dealt with (minor issues are bound to happen at any location). While I found both vets personable, genuine and appeared to be very knowledgeable, I have concerns that one of my dogs was not diagnosed correctly, and the other was not treated in adequate response to the diagnosis made at the time. While both were older (over 10 years) I believe I could have had a few more months and in the first case, years, if they had treated the dog correctly. If you choose to use this clinic, please ask follow questions and if the case is serious, I really suggest a second opinion very early on.

Sorry that one sour apple with a comment about her goat (???, like did she call back and really no explanation or detail was given) as this is the complete opposite of the vets at Herbst, They and the staff as well are all extremely CARING. Your animal is of the utmost importance to them. Herbst has a large animal facility, as well as the Main Street of Boerne location. These are a dedicated group of doctors, and one is always on call over the weekend and evening. I had to have a little dog put down after a surgery at the large specialty hospital in San Antonio, and he had been a patient of Herbst...they were soo caring after hearing about what happened to my little dog, and it was with total, honest sincerity. I, personally, have not had anything recommended for any of my dogs...which has amounted to five being taken there, that I ever felt was out of line, and not really a necessity. Now...do they want to try and do all they can to prevent illness and dental problems, yes they do, but they try and run specials every year for people that cannot afford this procedure.I have lived in Houston, and I have used what a lot would consider the best vets "around"...none can compare, however, with those that practice at Herbst Veterinary Hospital in Boerne, Texas It is not too far..even if you live on I-10 or 1604 in San Antonio...they are worth the drive. I have never seen an animal turned away....that, my friends, says a lot.

If you want vets who don't care these are the guys. I had an emergency and they never bothered to come. I know this because I had a goat attacked by a dog and was told to meet the vet at the clinic, 15 min, from my house. I passed the vet on call's house on my way there. His truck was in the drive way. I waited at the clinic outside for over an hour, the goat died, and he never showed. I passed his house again on the way home and his truck was in the exact same spot in the driveway. I never recieved any calls from him or the answering service saying he was going to be late.I have had other interactions with them that ended in a similar fassion. I stopped using them as soon as other vets moved into Boerne. I reccomend Morrison Vets on Main St.

This was our first visit, and based on arecommendation from a friend with extensive experience with Herbst.
We were not disappointed! From the receptionist to the technicians to Dr. Rodenbeck who performed the procedure, we could not been more welcomed or made comfortable. Schatzi, our Lab, came through with no problems and is recovering amazingly fast.
Herbst is now our animals' hospital!

Once I checked in we had to wait about 30 minutes BUT I would definitely say it is worth the wait. The vet, Dr Jones, was very nice and thorough in explaining my dogs condition (a torn acl) and what our realistic options were and the prices we were looking at. He went over everything and took his time with us. I was very impressed. My boyfriend lives over an hour away and he wants to start bringing his dog there! Check out was a long process and the front desk didn't even address us to say it would be a few minutes and to take a seat, but they were friendly when they did get to us.

Everyone is very nice and like any good doctor they spend the time they need to with their patients to make sure everyone leaves feeling good about their pet's health. Sometimes this added service makes them run behind, but they treat everyone the same. Be prepared to run a little late and you will be fine.

I just want to acknowledge Dr Quinn for care that has exceeded expectations on multiple occasions. He has taken care of our bunny when she presented with several odd issues. Each time, he has consulted with Texas A&M to insure he was headed in the right direction with the treatment or to provide me with the best info on the case. This was not necessary or expected, but he went above and beyond. As a healthcare provider for people, I recognize good (and poor) care when I see it. I am very thankful that we found Dr Quinn for our bunny!
The front desk and vet tech staff are also very professional and friendly. I highly recommend this office.

My dog Coco woke up very ill yesterday morning, I called Herbst and they said bring her right in. We saw a new vet, Dr. Kimball and she was wonderful. After multiple tests, we found she had acute Pancreatitis. Coco is staying a couple of days to get healed and Dr. Kimball has called yesterday evening and this morning to let me know how she is progressing (and she is getting better) which is such a wonderful thing to keep me constantly informed! I cannot thank the staff enough, from the front desk, the vet techs and Dr. Kimball for being so wonderful to my furry babies. All the doctors and staff are top notch!

Had only been here for a few days when I noticed something going on with my pup. Gave them a call and was asked to come right in. Greeted by a wonderfully friendly staff, easy and quick paperwork then taken right in by a very knowledgeable technician. Shortly thereafter my pup was examined by the veterinarian. She was smart and sweet and answered all my questions. I was greatly relieved to discover it was nothing serious. When checking out I happily discovered that the cost of the visit was very reasonable. In fact it was so much lower than I would have expected. Then the last time we were gone that long, took them to Hebst and when we picked them up, they are glad to see us and Max, our dog, was in great shape. They took great care of our pets and we will never ever leave them with anyone else.

The fellow with the long scraggly beard. He's been there forever. I tried a number of times to get hold of someone in mgt. there, but suspect my communiques were being intercepted and removed by him.

We have been going to Herbst since we moved to Texas in 2013. Our beloved dog, Emzy, had a very complex heart condition. Dr. Jones took incredible care of her for her last three years and came to our home for her final visit. Having her euthanized at age 13.5 years in our home was the only way to say goodbye. We also take our two cats to Herbst. Once again...great, professional, experienced vet care. Dr. Jones even took the time to return a phone call regarding selection of a new dog and did not charge. Front office staff is so kind and professional. You will also notice this practice is community oriented, often taking up a collection for another family in need. 5 stars and more if I could post them.

I just moved to Texas and had a situation where my dog was having problems pottying. I was reffered to Herbst. While everyone there would get 5 stars, their prices are astronomical! $230.00 just to tell me my dog is blocked up! Yes they took x-rays, trimmed her toenails, and gave her an injection, but there's NO WAY it cist that much. I've taken her to the vet in Indiana for the exact same problem and only paid $87.00. My dog is my life, but that type of money is ridiculous. I'll call around first before I go there again. Even driving to San Antonio for more affordable care would be worth it.

Took our dog in for neutering. Very friendly staff and caring people. One Big problem we notify them of all our dogs paperwork and Chris did not follow through. He did not inform the doctor about shots. So my dog got Rabbi shots he didn't need. When I came to pick our dog up I was tooled our dog received Raby shots I was furious. It's too bad you have personnel like Chris not following through with instructions. Our dog had a three-year rabies shot six months ago. Now he's doubled up on Raby shots they're not happy about that.

We live in San Antonio but bc of the amazing service we have received here we make the 30 - 45 minute trip when we need our dogs (Madison and Ruffis) check ups and any medical attention. As soon as you walk-in you are greeted with warm smiles and enthusiasm. The waiting area is clean and full of nice local folks. The Vet techs and Doctors are always very nice, professional and make your and your pets visit fun and inviting! (As you can see from our selfie:) The always take time to answer all our questions, we never feel rushed and our animals always love to see them... SPRAY CHEESE!! LOL If you dont get that then you have not been here and are missing out!

I get all my questions answered. Sometimes it is a little difficult to get in to see Dr. R. Today is Tuesday (early morning) and I can't get my pet in till Sat. Fortunately it is not an emergency.

I've been taking my pets here since moving to the San Antonio area a year ago and I am very happy with this vet hospital. My dog is has some health issues and Herbst, specifically Dr. Shaw, worked with me to get my dog the right treatment she needed. She understood my concerns, always provided me with detailed information regarding treatment options, etc and understood when I was being an overly nervous "parent". They also have a good relationship with pet medication companies to help you get meds specifically tailored for your animal. Herbst has a great website that allows you to view your pets' records and see when they are coming due for shots. However, even if you don't look online, they are great about sending email reminders to help you keep track. Any issues I have had with Herbst were quickly addressed and dealt with (minor issues are bound to happen at any location). I would definitely recommend Herbst as a vet clinic, especially if your pet has specific health needs.

While I found both vets personable, genuine and appeared to be very knowledgeable, I have concerns that one of my dogs was not diagnosed correctly, and the other was not treated in adequate response to the diagnosis made at the time. While both were older (over 10 years) I believe I could have had a few more months and in the first case, years, if they had treated the dog correctly. If you choose to use this clinic, please ask follow questions and if the case is serious, I really suggest a second opinion very early on.

Sorry that one sour apple with a comment about her goat (???, like did she call back and really no explanation or detail was given) as this is the complete opposite of the vets at Herbst, They and the staff as well are all extremely CARING. Your animal is of the utmost importance to them. Herbst has a large animal facility, as well as the Main Street of Boerne location. These are a dedicated group of doctors, and one is always on call over the weekend and evening. I had to have a little dog put down after a surgery at the large specialty hospital in San Antonio, and he had been a patient of Herbst...they were soo caring after hearing about what happened to my little dog, and it was with total, honest sincerity. I, personally, have not had anything recommended for any of my dogs...which has amounted to five being taken there, that I ever felt was out of line, and not really a necessity. Now...do they want to try and do all they can to prevent illness and dental problems, yes they do, but they try and run specials every year for people that cannot afford this procedure.I have lived in Houston, and I have used what a lot would consider the best vets "around"...none can compare, however, with those that practice at Herbst Veterinary Hospital in Boerne, Texas It is not too far..even if you live on I-10 or 1604 in San Antonio...they are worth the drive. I have never seen an animal turned away....that, my friends, says a lot.

If you want vets who don't care these are the guys. I had an emergency and they never bothered to come. I know this because I had a goat attacked by a dog and was told to meet the vet at the clinic, 15 min, from my house. I passed the vet on call's house on my way there. His truck was in the drive way. I waited at the clinic outside for over an hour, the goat died, and he never showed. I passed his house again on the way home and his truck was in the exact same spot in the driveway. I never recieved any calls from him or the answering service saying he was going to be late.I have had other interactions with them that ended in a similar fassion. I stopped using them as soon as other vets moved into Boerne. I reccomend Morrison Vets on Main St.
