Was 15 minutes late for APPT by mistake, was told we had to wait a few minutes. However the whole office had to be clear before they would attend us. Then they put us in a waiting room for 20 minutes for an anti rabi shot and then took another 15 minutes and no one came. We decided to leave without being attended. I am glad that they are here, & some people may not realize yet, but they also give vaccines and deworming etc. without the visit fee. And it’s especially nice that they have such great and well priced spay & neuter packages. The less pets there are in the shelter, the better. Too many sweet animals are there now. Some of my best pets have come from the shelter. I will say though, that one vet there, who saw my pet for treatment (not spay/neuter), she went ahead with all kinds of things without asking me, or telling me what it would cost. The bill was a lot higher than I planned. But, next time with a different vet it went fine. So just make sure they tell you the prices first. But I would like to encourage everyone please, to get their pets fixed, here or somewhere else. If you can only afford one right now, please get your female fixed. I think that this place is a great & economical choice. & it means so much to So many animals if you give them a chance. Please spay/ neuter them. I make sure that mine are. Great place for vaccines, sterilization surgeries and veterinary appointments. It takes time because a lot of people take their pets there, try to get there early. There are several veterinarians, Dr. Wooding is great, you want to take your dog/cat with her. Don't see Dr. Hayes, he is rude, under medicates your pet, and usually tries to just sell you more than you need without real solutions. The other employees do the work for him, including veterinarians from Mexico who don't get paid like he does. Since Mexican veterinarians do care for the animals, they end up picking up his slack. If you want to spend the whole morning there is find. I went since 9:45 am and was there till almost 12:00 noon when they put us in the waiting room. Then it was 12:30 and still no shots for my dog. I kindly told them I had to leave and was refunded my my sixty dollars. What bothered me was others were there after me and left before me. My baby just needed shots.Read Less

I love the staff. They treat my puppy with VIP service whenever we go in. The only thing I didn't like was one DR. There misdiagnosed my dog, and I had to go back 2 weeks later to see another DR and found out my dog had worms. The first Dr didn't ask for a decal sample like the second Dr. Did. They are wonderful but watch out for cat ladies they hate dogs, a lady with a lot of cats complained to us because my babies that are going to get spayed were barking inside of the clinic and then she told my husband and I to take them outside!!!!!! Brownsville Spay/Neuter and Tattoo Parlor. Before taking my dog to get neutered, I was very careful to ask questions over and over about what exactly they would do. I wanted to know how the surgery was performed, what kind of stitches they would use, etc. I was very clear that I was just there to have the dog neutered--no shots, nothing else. My questions weren't clearly answered--they said that "they'd explain everything when I came back to pick him up." I could tell this was a high volume clinic and they were just trying to get me out the door. But that is part of the reason I trusted them--I thought performing so many surgeries would give them expertise. Also, I take my dog to the dog park right next door about three times a week, so I thought the dog would feel somewhat comfortable there, in a familiar place. So, even though my questions hadn't really been answered despite many attempts to get all the information, I made a decision to trust the doctors since they do this all the time, right? I can't tell you how much I now regret that choice. I came back in the afternoon to pick my puppy up, and imagine my surprise when I find out that they have TATTOOED my dog on his belly an inch or two away from where the incision was made. I asked them why in the world they would do this, and they played it off as a requirement, like state or local law. Why then did my co-worker, who had her puppy neutered last week at Boca Chica Animal Hospital, not have her dog tattooed? In addition, I find out that the stitches they use are internal metal staples, which will never come out. This means that they will leave metal inside the dog forever. They told me that this is less likely to result in infections . . . now call me silly, but I just wish they had told me that they were going to leave metal inside my puppy beforehand. At least then I could have made an informed choice. Other vets use metal staples on the outside, which are then removed, or dissolving stitches. In conclusion, what upsets me the most (other than that my dog now permanently has metal in his body and ink on his skin) is that I was NOT TOLD any of this beforehand, despite my best efforts to ask what exactly they were going to do. So, if you want a cheap surgery and none of this bothers you, maybe this is the place. But if you want things done right, please, please go somewhere else. Read Less

You can pick up your heartworm meds for a very low cost compared to all other vets. Also Comfortis. That's all I've used. It's great to see a clinic that offers low cost spay and nueters so that everyone can afford to fix their animals and help reduce the feral cat and dog population. Although I did not have a bad experience, I think that they may take in too many surgeries to be truly conscientious. I brought in the pup that we had found on the roadside. We had her about 5 months. They happily accepted her and we expressed concern that she may be already spayed since she had never gone into heat. When we picked her up, we were told the surgery went fine and they charged me full price. Now when we actually saw the dog, we were told she did not need the surgery as she was already spayed. So what did I pay for? I was told the anesthesia, shaving, and shots. I guess the I should be grateful they did not actually cut her open. I realize that they are a non-profit and so did not insist on a refund, but I think they could have done a better job of analyzing before getting started. Read Less
