I'd first like to state that I never leave negative reviews on establishments, I have to be pretty driven to do so. This place drove me right over the edge. I've not been happy with the veterinary selection since I moved here, but this place was the absolute worst!I recently had my first, and last, appointment at Bulverde Animal Hopsital. I went for two reasons, an ear infection in my shepherd's left ear and routine heartworm test and pills. My mother tagged along with her little dog as she needed heartworm test and pills as well. When we get called in, most of our dog's vitals were checked by a seemingly adolescent girl (who was probably bathing dogs at Petco two weeks ago), not the doctor. Then she takes our dogs INTO THE BACK ROOM without us, assumingly to do the blood test, we weren't told anything by said seventeen year old. Great, not happy about this already. After the dogs were back, my mom's dog REEKED of anal glands. That, in itself, is not a problem. Dogs freak out, especially when taken into a back room without their person, the problem was they didn't even ATTEMPT to clean it up. My mother had to bathe her when we got home. Thanks Bulverde seventeen year old, how about a baby wipe or something? Then, when the doctor DID decide to grace us with his presence for two and a half minutes, he quickly looks into my dog's left ear and exclaimed "Everything looks GREAT!" Really? Because I can smell her from across the room and I'm getting about two pounds of gunk out of it every day. He also had the charts for the dogs completely messed up and backwards. But that's what happens when you have teenagers running your clinic for you and doing everything. I said forget this place and we decided to leave, I'll obviously have to spend money somewhere else to get this taken care of.This is where it gets really fun. We go to check out and pay. We are both being charged, separately, for one heartworm test and a 6 month supply of pills. Me, included, since "everything looks GREAT!" in my dogs infected ear. The total comes to 200 dollars! We were both stunned and snuck glances at each other. Very uncomfortable. I've never been so robbed and blown off at any doctor's office, let alone a veterinarian's. Then, when I get home, I realize there are two referral cards in the packet they gave me. With my client number on it, not my name, as referral for the card holder. Wow. Really? You really are just a number dispensing exorbitant amounts of money at this place. I felt like I was at Petsmart or something. I now drive 20 plus miles to a fantastic vet in SA who cleared up the ear infection almost immediately. I did have to treat it twice it was so bad and out of control at that point. But, everything looks great, right? The new vet couldn't understand why any doctor would look in that ear and think so. Neither can I. So thanks for mutton, Bulverde Animal Hospital. Read Less
