Dr. McBride has been our vet for at least 30 years. He is an excellent vet and his knowledge is superior. My combined family pet patients he has cared for; included my Mother's 2 dogs and prior to that my Father's cat ; then my own multiple fur kids. He has helped and comforted us through the passing of several of our elderly animals. Dr. McBride is an angel of support for animal care through the local animal shelter and low cost vet clinics, too.

Hands down, the staff here take amazing care of all our animals. Whether it's a housecat, dog, shop cat, or working dog, they love on them all equally and make sure to spend appropriate amounts of time assessing and diagnosing what's wrong. They also aren't insanely expensive, which is a bonus as they're a major vet provider in a ranching community, and they know that it's quality care and service that pull customers in and keep them, not free bottles of crappy wine (looking at you, Firehouse).
The staff have a remarkable memory for all our animals and will ask after the ones who aren't in that day to see how they're doing. I really could not recommend them more.

Absolutely love and trust Dr Kyle with all my animals. My old blue heeler female only likes Dr Kyle he is the only vet she has ever allowed to touch her and work on her. Dr Dan is also great, he performed a 3-4 hour surgery on my pitbull who was protecting us from a 350# boar hog and he was so bad that his jugular vein was hanging out in the open and almost every muscle in his shoulder was torn off and had to be reattached. Very very grateful they saved our boys life.

I heartily recommend Burnet Vet Clinic. We have been there a few times now and have always received quick care at a reasonable cost. Their staff is helpful and friendly. Dr. Atkinson is very helpful.

I was happy with this clinic until my last visit with my senior chihuahua. Her good eye was bothering her. When the neopolydex wasn't working after seven days, they said I could pick up the glaucoma ...
I was happy with this clinic until my last visit with my senior chihuahua. Her good eye was bothering her. When the neopolydex wasn't working after seven days, they said I could pick up the glaucoma drops for her. After a few days on these drops, she still wasn't getting relief. The said it would be "at least a week" for the glaucoma drops to work. That didn't sound right to me so I made an appointment for her with an Eye Dr.She doesn't have glaucoma and the drops should have not been prescribed to her by Burnet without testing the eye pressure first and she should have had relief within 24 hours of using the drops that were prescribed. She had an ulcerated cornea that was infected. I am very disappointed with Burnet and feel that there was not enough diagnostic work done during the exam to ensure that she was on the correct meds. Not only did she suffer with this for two weeks because they had given her the wrong meds, she could have lost the only good eye that she has.

I've been to other vet clinics in the area, and there is no comparison. The vets at BVC are the most knowledgeable and caring (the whole staff is great). They literally have saved my dog's life on two occasions. So many medical practices, animal or human, can make you feel like you are just a wallet and a number, but not this clinic. When you are here, you will know that your animals are getting the highest level of care -- with no BS. I simply cannot recommend them more highly.

To Hanna Rubio - Vet's don't go to school for 12+ years to learn how to clip nails, that's why there are groomers. If you want a fancy clinic, where you can blow your life savings on "proper" treatment, then I would recommend HOPE animal clinic in Marble falls. If you want to save money, be told the absolute truth about viable options for your pet, and get some no-nonsense authentic care for your animal, then go see Dan McBride at Burnet Vet Clinic. Some say he is rough around the edges, and too up-front at times, and has even been known to lecture a client or two. But lets be honest people, there isn't an IQ requirement to own an animal, and there are some REALLY dumb pet owners out there...put yourself in his shoes. Great Dane broke his leg, spent over $1000 at HOPE clinic for xrays and a splint, only to have the leg become infected by the rubbing splint. After $150 at Burnet Vet Clinic, all that nonsense has been removed and my baby is feeling great and healing nicely. They even threw in some supplies for me to use at home, free of charge. HOPE clinic left me hopeless, Dan McBride gave me that hope back.

By far the best vet I've ever been too! Dan McBride and his busy staff were attentive and amazing. When I say busy I mean crazy busy on a Saturday where people couldn't fit in the little waiting room and the doctor had to double up appointments or he wasn't leaving. So he compassionately saw our sick little stray cat while being honest about her odds but still encouraging care and treatment and selling us only what she needed while treating another older man's young labrador. It didn't cost us a fortune. Our sweet little stray didn't make it, but he was very simple and honest about her odds, and very kind in delivering that news. I am veryhappy with this vet practice and ALL the staff that made chaos run smoothly. They are wonderful and I'm sure that you need this review Much more than they do. Thank you!
Not sure what Hannah is talking about nor the 1 star google user - but I'm not an employee (although I've worked for an Austin area vet that was questionable) - but a dog can wait for a nail trim and routine visits are limited and can often wait, but we came in to wait because no appointments were available and DID NOT have to wait long. Vets will always try to make an animal that is distressed a priority.

Horrible service. First time my dog max came in he had staph infection in his neck and when I came back to pick him up he was laying in the corner in his own vomit! This morning my dog suzie needed her nails trimmed and we waited 45 mins and then the staff asks us if we needed help. It's dirty and smells horrible. I would not waste time here. Especially for domestic animals.

Burnet Veterinary Clinic is by far the best clinic in Texas. The three vets, Drs. McBride, Kyle & Owens are the most attentive vets. They remember everyone! I have been taking my dog there for over 4 years since I moved from Dallas. I live in Austin and have a lakehouse in the Burnet area and still drive the one hour drive to take my dog to see one of these fine vets. They have the best staff and my animals get used to the same people year after year. The costs are also a huge bonus! They are very very reasonable and with the care you get, you feel guilty after you see the charges! I have referred many other Austin residents to the family owned clinic and will continue to do so in the future.

I called to make an appt for my dog and the woman I spoke with was very nice. She told me to have my dog there btwn 8 and 9, that he shouldn't have food or water after 10 the night before, and that he might, possibly, stay overnight, but that the staff would call me and let me know. I dropped him off at 9 and didn't hear from anyone all day. I finally called at 4 and the receptionist was very rude. She seemed shocked that I was calling. I was told they were just starting the surgeries, which shocked me because my chihuahua, on their instructions, had not had food or water since the night before. I waited two hours and heard nothing. I called again and again was told that they were just starting the surgeries. They finally called at 7 at night to tell us our dog was okay, but we could not pick him up until the next morning. When I arrived to pick him up I saw a sign BEHIND the receptionist stating that all surgeries take place after hours--why didn't they explain that when I made the appt! And why did the dog have to be there at 9 in the morning if the surgeries NEVER take place until after 6 p.m.! Then I stood and waited seven minutes--I timed it-- for the receptionist to speak with me. She wasn't on the phone, she was typing, and clearly ignoring my hellos! A smiling, pleasant woman brought out my dog, handed him to me and walked away. No one explained anything about after care or medications and there was no aftercare sheet. So, I went back to the receptionist to ask if there was instructions and I was told there was no instructions, but again, why couldn't they explain this to me? I'm not a vet, and I'm not psychic. A little bit of information would have been very helpful. I think the employees here have forgotten that we are paying customers who deserve customer service. I also think they have forgotten that many people love their pets like their children and worry about them just as much. This clinic needs some serious customer service improvements.

Not a very good place.....took my two horses in for just routine vaccinations. Showed up early for my appointment and waited in the parking lot, no one so much as came out to greet me. The help was pretty rushed with my horses and seemed to ""manhandle"" them more than to my liking (how about we not pull on my horse's ear, she is being a nice little pony right now, and I would rather you not ruin her, okay?). They seemed like they were in a hurry. The doctor never so much as said hello, seemed like he would rather be somewhere else. He gave my horse a vaccine that I didn't want, then blew it off when I called it to his attention (""You can have that one for free""). That is not the point; the point is if you had bothered even saying hello and acted like you could possibly care, there is a good chance we could have discussed my horse's vaccination needs in more detail. The illiterate person filling out my Coggin's forms filled them out wrong, despite me pointing it out. He blew me off (ummmm....maybe the vet should do that, since it is his license). The nicest person I ran into there was the receptionist, Kathy, and the two high school kids there. I would never recommend this place to anyone, the only reason I went there was location and the minimal things my horses required. God help me if my horses colicked, I would just keep driving to A&M or Elgin.

I have used the Burnet Vet Clinic for the past 5 years, and the vets, staff, and everyone are awesome. Dr. McBride, Dr. Kyle, and Dr. Jill and eveyone else I have been raising Texas Blue Lacys and if anyone knows more about Lacys it is Burnet Vet Clinic. Everyone there is exceptional. They are wonderful. I would never think of anywhere else to take my pets. They love them almost as much as we do. Thank you guys.............YOU ARE THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I heartily recommend Burnet Vet Clinic. We have been there a few times now and have always received quick care at a reasonable cost. Their staff is helpful and friendly. Dr. Atkinson is very helpful.

I was happy with this clinic until my last visit with my senior chihuahua. Her good eye was bothering her. When the neopolydex wasn't working after seven days, they said I could pick up the glaucoma drops for her. After a few days on these drops, she still wasn't getting relief. The said it would be "at least a week" for the glaucoma drops to work. That didn't sound right to me so I made an appointment for her with an Eye Dr.She doesn't have glaucoma and the drops should have not been prescribed to her by Burnet without testing the eye pressure first and she should have had relief within 24 hours of using the drops that were prescribed. She had an ulcerated cornea that was infected. I am very disappointed with Burnet and feel that there was not enough diagnostic work done during the exam to ensure that she was on the correct meds. Not only did she suffer with this for two weeks because they had given her the wrong meds, she could have lost the only good eye that she has.

I've been to other vet clinics in the area, and there is no comparison. The vets at BVC are the most knowledgeable and caring (the whole staff is great). They literally have saved my dog's life on two occasions. So many medical practices, animal or human, can make you feel like you are just a wallet and a number, but not this clinic. When you are here, you will know that your animals are getting the highest level of care -- with no BS. I simply cannot recommend them more highly.

If you want a fancy clinic, where you can blow your life savings on "proper" treatment, then I would recommend HOPE animal clinic in Marble falls. If you want to save money, be told the absolute truth about viable options for your pet, and get some no-nonsense authentic care for your animal, then go see Dan McBride at Burnet Vet Clinic. Some say he is rough around the edges, and too up-front at times, and has even been known to lecture a client or two. But lets be honest people, there isn't an IQ requirement to own an animal, and there are some REALLY dumb pet owners out there...put yourself in his shoes. Great Dane broke his leg, spent over $1000 at HOPE clinic for xrays and a splint, only to have the leg become infected by the rubbing splint. After $150 at Burnet Vet Clinic, all that nonsense has been removed and my baby is feeling great and healing nicely. They even threw in some supplies for me to use at home, free of charge. HOPE clinic left me hopeless, Dan McBride gave me that hope back.

By far the best vet I've ever been too! Dan McBride and his busy staff were attentive and amazing. When I say busy I mean crazy busy on a Saturday where people couldn't fit in the little waiting room and the doctor had to double up appointments or he wasn't leaving. So he compassionately saw our sick little stray cat while being honest about her odds but still encouraging care and treatment and selling us only what she needed while treating another older man's young labrador. It didn't cost us a fortune. Our sweet little stray didn't make it, but he was very simple and honest about her odds, and very kind in delivering that news. I am veryhappy with this vet practice and ALL the staff that made chaos run smoothly. They are wonderful and I'm sure that you need this review Much more than they do. Thank you!
Not sure what Hannah is talking about nor the 1 star google user - but I'm not an employee (although I've worked for an Austin area vet that was questionable) - but a dog can wait for a nail trim and routine visits are limited and can often wait, but we came in to wait because no appointments were available and DID NOT have to wait long. Vets will always try to make an animal that is distressed a priority.

Horrible service. First time my dog max came in he had staph infection in his neck and when I came back to pick him up he was laying in the corner in his own vomit! This morning my dog suzie needed her nails trimmed and we waited 45 mins and then the staff asks us if we needed help. It's dirty and smells horrible. I would not waste time here. Especially for domestic animals.

Burnet Veterinary Clinic is by far the best clinic in Texas. The three vets, Drs. McBride, Kyle & Owens are the most attentive vets. They remember everyone! I have been taking my dog there for over 4 years since I moved from Dallas. I live in Austin and have a lakehouse in the Burnet area and still drive the one hour drive to take my dog to see one of these fine vets. They have the best staff and my animals get used to the same people year after year. The costs are also a huge bonus! They are very very reasonable and with the care you get, you feel guilty after you see the charges! I have referred many other Austin residents to the family owned clinic and will continue to do so in the future.

I called to make an appt for my dog and the woman I spoke with was very nice. She told me to have my dog there btwn 8 and 9, that he shouldn't have food or water after 10 the night before, and that he might, possibly, stay overnight, but that the staff would call me and let me know. I dropped him off at 9 and didn't hear from anyone all day. I finally called at 4 and the receptionist was very rude. She seemed shocked that I was calling. I was told they were just starting the surgeries, which shocked me because my chihuahua, on their instructions, had not had food or water since the night before. I waited two hours and heard nothing. I called again and again was told that they were just starting the surgeries. They finally called at 7 at night to tell us our dog was okay, but we could not pick him up until the next morning. When I arrived to pick him up I saw a sign BEHIND the receptionist stating that all surgeries take place after hours--why didn't they explain that when I made the appt! And why did the dog have to be there at 9 in the morning if the surgeries NEVER take place until after 6 p.m.! Then I stood and waited seven minutes--I timed it-- for the receptionist to speak with me. She wasn't on the phone, she was typing, and clearly ignoring my hellos! A smiling, pleasant woman brought out my dog, handed him to me and walked away. No one explained anything about after care or medications and there was no aftercare sheet. So, I went back to the receptionist to ask if there was instructions and I was told there was no instructions, but again, why couldn't they explain this to me? I'm not a vet, and I'm not psychic. A little bit of information would have been very helpful. I think the employees here have forgotten that we are paying customers who deserve customer service. I also think they have forgotten that many people love their pets like their children and worry about them just as much. This clinic needs some serious customer service improvements.

Not a very good place.....took my two horses in for just routine vaccinations. Showed up early for my appointment and waited in the parking lot, no one so much as came out to greet me. The help was pretty rushed with my horses and seemed to ""manhandle"" them more than to my liking (how about we not pull on my horse's ear, she is being a nice little pony right now, and I would rather you not ruin her, okay?). They seemed like they were in a hurry. The doctor never so much as said hello, seemed like he would rather be somewhere else. He gave my horse a vaccine that I didn't want, then blew it off when I called it to his attention (""You can have that one for free""). That is not the point; the point is if you had bothered even saying hello and acted like you could possibly care, there is a good chance we could have discussed my horse's vaccination needs in more detail. The illiterate person filling out my Coggin's forms filled them out wrong, despite me pointing it out. He blew me off (ummmm....maybe the vet should do that, since it is his license). The nicest person I ran into there was the receptionist, Kathy, and the two high school kids there. I would never recommend this place to anyone, the only reason I went there was location and the minimal things my horses required. God help me if my horses colicked, I would just keep driving to A&M or Elgin.

Dr. McBride, Dr. Kyle, and Dr. Jill and eveyone else I have been raising Texas Blue Lacys and if anyone knows more about Lacys it is Burnet Vet Clinic. Everyone there is exceptional. They are wonderful. I would never think of anywhere else to take my pets. They love them almost as much as we do. Thank you guys.............YOU ARE THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
