We've taken our animals (4 cats, 2 dogs) to Carrollton Animal hospital for seven years. Dr. McGuire has always been compassionate and taken our concerns seriously. He goes out of way to find solutions and takes into consideration the financial aspect of care by not doing unnecessary testing, etc. His team are friendly and accessible. You can tell that Dr. McGuire and his employees are following a calling that involves a love for animals and their well-being. Read Less

The wellness package is a joke, you really don't save money. I got buyers remorse the next day because I calculated how much I spent on my babies in a year and is no where close to home I would be paying annually with the "wellness package". When I called the next day to see if I could cancel the agreement they charged a whooping $300+! One visit, two dogs, $500+! The manager , Miriah, refuse to help. Horrible place. Find a place that respects you as much as they respect your fur babies. Read Less

Well. The vet here says he treats exotics, but I don't think he is very comfortable with pet rats. After a lot of back and forth to him to try to treat some pretty serious URIs, 2 of my rat boys ended up dying. I don't really fault the vet for this; I just think he wasn't quite sure what to do for them, though I think he did try. It was hard to get a handle on all of the meds, so much was prescribed. And, after awhile, my rats just refused to take anymore. He said nebulizing might work, but I'd have to get my own nebulizer. I also think he got a bit upset with me when a vet covering for him suggested I try a vet office that is more skilled in treating rats (I called to ask for the name she gave me as I forgot). Instead of giving me the name he called me to say that if I wasn't happy with his care, I could move on. I ended up having to take one of my hairless rats to another vet who has rats of her own (Dr. Chelsea McAnally at Allen Veterinary Hospital) to finally have an abscess clear for the first time in months. Also, there is a vet tech or office manager at Carrollton Animal Hospital that voiced an audible "ew" every time I brought them in. "I just don't like their tails", she'd say. I don't care what you think. It started to really piss me off. You work at a veterinary office. Have some restraint and a little compassion, even if some of the pets weird you out. Read Less

Our family has owned a Russian Tortoise for 7 years. It recently developed a problem with it's beak that was interfering with her ability to eat. We chose Carrollton Animal Hospital because of Dr. McGuire's experience with exotic animals. From when I arrived in the office everyone there was very nice, helpful and friendly. Dr. McGuire did an excellent job with our tortoise's procedure as well as provide us important dietary information for her going forward. In addition, Dr. McGuire called on Saturday (the following day) to follow up and check on our tortoise. Our tortoise is healthy and eating well thanks to Dr. McGuire's work. Our family is very appreciative of the job Carrollton Animal Hospital did for our tortoise. I highly recommend them! Read Less

Dr McGuire as been great in always keeping our animals healthy, from everything from routine shots to very serious health problems. The staff is great as well, always looking out for our animals and checking on them via phone calls after procedures. We have kept our pets at the Carrollton Animal Hospital despite moving across the metroplex because of how much we like everything there. My 170lb, 7 years old English Mastiff was all of a sudden unable to walk at all for several hours.  Poor guy couldn't move his hind legs and whined all night and early morning from pain.   All of the employees at Carrollton Animal Hospital were incredibly nice and understood that even though the dog is big in size, he is actually very shy and a little scared of new people The place is really small, with only two rooms that I saw but everything that we needed were there.  Druid had the full exam and long story short, he is okay now.  Everyone from the receptionist, cleaning lady (sorry my dog peed on your floors...), Vet. assistant and the actual Doc seemed genuinely concerned for Druid.  I would highly recommend this veterinarian clinic. How'd we get him in a tiny mazda 3, you ask? I wanted to say thank you to everyone on the team for the care and support we received when we had to bring our cat in on an emergency on a Saturday when our regular vet was closed, not knowing what was wrong but knowing it was serious.  Unfortunately her situation was not one from which she was going to recover and we had to let her go.  We had never been To this facility before but the care, attention and support we received from everyone at this distressing time was wonderful, and our cat was able to pass gently and with dignity and respect. They gave us as much time as we needed in a private room to say goodbye and supported us through everything, These people obviously love and care for animals and their owners as well, and their understanding and professionalism helped us in this difficult time. I give them the highest recommendation. Read Less

I've been taking our animals here for at least 15 years, but recently had such an awful, negative experience that I requested the records for our puppy and am searching for another vet. Dr. McGuire was the most complete jerk to me on my last visit that I am writing this to let everyone know of his "compassionate care" that I received. We had adopted a cat two and a half years ago and from day one she was constantly vomiting. When we took her to Carrollton Animal Hospital initially, we were told that she was more likely four or five years old instead of the one year that we had been told at the shelter. Recently she was worse, and was not eating and had lost weight. We were trying to return her to the shelter and had not had a return call yet so we took her to the vet to be checked out. Dr. McGuire told us that she was more likely eight or nine years old instead and that he thought there might be kidney or liver problems and he wanted to run tests that would run into the hundreds of dollars, just to begin with. Well, I told him that we were not putting any more money into a cat that we were trying to return to the shelter and I asked about her being put down instead. His demeanor changed so abruptly it was amazing. I explained that we were both unemployed and simply could not afford to spend hundreds on a cat that we didn't really care for and were trying to return. He left the room. I began crying and discussing my options with the technician that was still in the room. She offered suggestions and told me that she would check me out in the room rather than my standing at the front desk crying. She was great. The back door opened and Dr. McGuire asked the technician if I was still in there and if I'd decided anything because he needed the room! She finished checking me out, and before she was done, he had the nerve to open the back door again and ask again whether I was done since he needed the room. I left and sincerely regret having paid for that office visit. I called once I got home and requested the records for our puppy so that we could find a decent, caring vet. Not two days later, I actually received an e-mail from them asking for feedback on my visit to "ensure that we are providing you with the utmost service and compassionate care." Needless to say, I was floored since I had received the most non-compassionate care possible from Dr. McGuire. We have since been able to return the cat to the shelter so that she may be taken care of by their vet and hopefully find another, more suitable family to love her. Read Less
