I am fully satisfied with the visit. The staff was very kind and polite. I was worried about being late for work and asked about the length of the visit. They were kind enough to see my chihuahua a bit sooner then my scheduled appointment. The vet addressed my concerns and was able to provide me with a vaccine shot, a shot for pain for my concern, and medication in addition. Prices were also very good. Read Less

After moving to the far north west side of San Antonio we were in search for a new vet. I was raised in the country and I wanted that down to earth country vet setting. I found it with this clinic. Staff is friendly, accomedating and knowledgeable. They make the worse situations barable when it comes to our four legged baby. Dr Carter is an awesome Vet, My mother has used him for all her pets, and I started using him for our boxer,they even sent a Sympathy card when she passed. He even saw our bearded dragon. Anytime we need anything he is always there, I prefer this vet compared to all the other Vets in San Antonio, he takes the time to examine and explain everything with any type of pet you bring in. Castroville is just 30mins away and I don't mind taking the drive.Read Less

We have been going to Castroville Veterinary Clinic for 6 years and had a few mix up here and there but nothing I couldn't let slide.  I know it's hard to tell my 2 Maltese apart but I keep up with shot records, etc. so it's okay.  But when I emailed to ask a question about why my dogs need antibiotic shots every 3 months after a teeth cleaning, my husband received this response "Please let us know where you would like us to forward your records. We prefer working with well informed clients that understand instructions. Thank you, Trina".I really cannot believe that a business would talk to their customers like that!!  And Trina called me on my cell phone, while I'm at work and told me that the doctor stood behind her statements.  She was very rude and very condescending and I didn't appreciate it.  I've always dealt with Marlinda and had excellent service.  So I'm not sure about the Trina/Dr. Carter relationship.Needless to say, we will find another vet for our 2 babies.  Castroville Vet Clinic is not the ONLY vet in the 10 miles surrounding our house. I had a great experience with Castroville Vet Clinic!My dog had a possible emergency situation, and they got me in the same day. Staff was knowledgable and friendly. The vet himself took his time with my dog and explained everything concisely and thoroughly to me. This vet is more then I could ask for. I had been taking my dog and my livestock there when I was young and lived in Castroville and never had anything to complain about. I left town to go to college fifteen years ago and really haven't been back much since. This last summer I got married in Oregon and shipped my wife and the two dogs on a crazy cross country trip that ended up in Rhode Island by way of Texas. Along the way one of the dogs had a bump on his neck that looked like it was getting bigger. I called Dr. Carter's office and said we would be driving through and would like to get the dog looked at if at all possible. I did this in California, two days before we were scheduled to fly through Texas. They had never seen our dogs and pretty much forgot who I was, fifteen years will do that. I was expecting a no, and maybe some crazy laughing along with it. Never happened. They got me in and Dr. Carter saw me even though he had a family thing he was leaving work early to attend. He also at the drop of a hat saw my other dog who alway gets ear infections and gave us some medicine for him for the road, which ended up working better then anything we had used to that point I may add. Additionaly he gave them their shots for the year and some food for their bad breath. It may be the country mentality or the Texas friendliness but I couldn't ask for much more. these vets "Were" a good vet place, until they killed my dog, HARLEY!! first they tell us Harley had minor heartworms, and wasnt bad! We left him for 3 days there for the heartworm treatment, and we gave them our number to call us if anything happened, and they told us the next day he had a minor seizure from the treatment, when they couldnt even call and tell us that!!! and then, the 2nd day they said he was fine! and eating well, and was ready to go home! and the 3rd day we were on our way to pick him up and they call and tell us - "THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED, BUT THEY FOUND HIM DEAD" - how can a "professional vet" say they dont know what happened!??? and not call us after him having a seizure, very professional huh? and the vet himself couldnt even come out and face us to tell us this, he had some helper hand my dog in a box! And i know deep in my heart, they murdered him! how can u say he's fine and have minor problems and just like that hes gone! I believe they killed him with their treatment, and they screwed up and couldnt tell us because they didnt want to be responsible for my dogs death. Well, im just happy i switched VETS! because that place only cares for Stupid horses!! and other farm animals. its not a place for PETS, DOGS or CATS. Read Less
