Dr. Hodges and her team worked very diligently and stayed after hours to save my wife's Pygmy Goat from life threatening condition. She personally updated me on his condition throughout the procedure and recovery process. I am very fortunate that he was in her care. Absolutely LOVE Dr Hodges and her team! Everyone here is amazing and you can tell they truly care about giving your furbaby the best treatment. They have saved my little Chiquita’s life twice now! I absolutely wouldn’t take my furbaby anywhere else. They go above and beyond to make your pet feel comfortable in every way. My little Chiquita is very special, she has had epilepsy her whole life, heart murmur, enlarged heart, they removed a huge mass on her spleen as well as her spleen in 2016 and just 2 days ago removed a couple masses on her liver and part of her liver and she’s recovering and should be back to her old self real soon! I Love Blockhouse Creek Animal Hospital and all they do for my fur babies. I have an older dog who has had bad vet experiences in the past. They take extra special care of him, he now hates going to the vet a little less. Our younger pup would live at the vet's office if they'd let him. Dr U has repeatedly saved the lives of my many dogs multiple times over. Dr U treated one of my dogs with a severe liver disease and it was only his wisdom that extended his life. I know how hard he works to save a patient. I trust him completely. When my dog's liver failed completely, Dr U was a comfort in how he handled a situation I can barely speak about 4 years later. My instructions when I drop off a sick dog is always to do what Dr U thinks best. I've never been sorry. I want to give the shots he recommends, perform the tests he wants to run... Dr Hodges makes farm calls out of my place and we love her. She successfully delivered a tricky breech presentation and literally saved one of the kids lives. My doeling would have died without her. They've successfully treated horses, goats, dogs, cats and pigs from my farm. I have few human doctors as good as the vets that work at blockhouse. They recruit from the best and unlike human doctors listen to what I tell them I've observed about their patients. They are an important component to my home farm. Read Less

Dr. U is the most horrible satanic man I have ever worked for or had the unfortunate chance of meeting. He is abusive to his staff as well as his patients in the back when the owners cant see.Fair warning that he is not compassionate or kind to your babies when you think he is. I have enjoyed this boarding and vet care for 5 years.  However, recently they have started charging 1/2 day boarding fees on Sunday.  However, you can only pick them up between 4-5 pm.  Not the customer's choice.  Suspect their way of charging more fees.  Additionally, the past 3 times my two yorkies have come home very hot and dehydrated.  One of them slurps up so much water that he throws it up.  This is unacceptable. When you google the employee reviews, it is very negative.  Apparently they over treat for more charges.  I get that.  Also they report the owner screams a lot.  I understand that because every time we go, the receptionist is brand new!  Anderson Mill Animal Clinic has 1 wellness exam with charge.  This place charges for so called wellness exams every time they give a vaccination!  Half the time I have no documentation that they have even seen the dr.  I am now looking for another vet.  Don't need more chemicals injected in my baby than necessary.  Also, they put a flea control on the dog without permission.  It made mine sick.  Don't use this vet.  All about the money. We have been coming here for 15 years now. Dr U is the most compassionate and straightforward. We had gone to the Premier place previously. We didnt get near the information or expertise as we have gotten here. We have had surgeries and as the previous reviews state, always an update throughout the day. We really appreciate that! Dr U (and staff) saw our Bassets from puppy age to 14yrs. He always took wonderful care of them. We could not have asked for a more caring doctor. He seems to take a personal interest in your pets. Which is hard to find. He is now seeing our 2nd generation of pets for us and we would not have it any other way!The staff is amazing too! We highly recommend BHCH! Read Less

My family and I have been to this vet plenty of times through the years. We found a kitten that was abandoned and was in so much pain it needed to be put down. When we took her to the vet they tried to charge us 63 for a kitten that wasn't ours. I thought with all of money and business we brought them they would give us the Good samararin card. If I could do a negative I would. I worked for this company for 2 months and had to go in the bathroom and cry almost everyday. Dr. Urbanzyk is a terrible disgusting person. He literally called me and other employees stupid on more than one occasion. My first day working there I was warned by the other receptionists about his temper. And a few days working there I had delivered a message from a client on how one of the vet techs messed up thier pets prescription. NOT ME and he literally started yelling at me saying "he is sick and tired of the complaints because of all the fucking idiots who work there" from then on I was even scared to talk to him. We would close at 6 most days and 7 twice a week but I always left about 9 sometimes 10pm because they would always overbook themselves. Granted if a emergency happened they wouldn't turn them away which was good but they would back themselves up so much the front desk employees would take the heat from the upset clients who had a appointment and would still be in the waiting room an hour later. One night it was about 8pm and Dr.U had thrown a temper tantrum and started throwing stuff in the surgery room so the manager told us receptionist to go ahead and go home and she would finish closing so we wouldn't be mentally abused by him. My final straw was when he had me hold a large lab on one of the tables, I'm 5' 3 and the tables were like 4 feet tall plus the tall lab. So I'm on my tippy toes trying my best to hold this hyper dog and he literally says " are you not even smart enough to hold a dog correctly" I quit then and there in tears. The mental abuse in that place was unreal. The 2 months I was there several employees had quit due to his abusive behavior. I can not begin to tell you how grateful I am to Dr Hodges at Block House Creek Animal Hospital!  She saved my 14 year old cats life when I came to her for a second opinion on my cat,  I was told he was fine despite having lost about 3 pounds in a month. Dr. Hodges is not your everyday vet. She has a true gift of knowing what to test for. She is wonderful at communicating and really respected my wishes and concerns. My pets are super important to me, I may be considered a little extreme by most but I really feel like she understands where I'm coming from. Recently, we brought my family 16 year old poodle in after being told by the after hours clinic in Austin to put her to sleep because of a tooth infection on a tooth that wasn't able to pulled because of a tumor in her abdomen. I expressed that she was still happy and eating and I didn't feel like it was her time.... again went for my second opinion with Dr. Hodges she fixed her right up with some antibiotics, some temporary pain meds, a maintenance plan to prevent future infections and helped scale her teeth a little while she was awake. My dog enjoyed the beautiful weather today because Dr Hodges takes time to figure out what is best for the pets and clients in her care. This is Lizzie, my pride and joy. She is a ferret and to some she is referred to as an "exotic" pet. When she first had a medical issue that needed immediate care, i was worried and stressed about vets that had the proper knowledge and care for ferrets. I live fairly close to Block House Creek and so i took a leap of faith and decided to take her there. I dropped her off overnight and picked her up the next day. They gave me meds for her and i was so pleased at the amount of care, knowledge and how much they loved her! Their prices are affordable and they are very understanding. In more unfortunate news i've had to take her again recently due to more issues and older age and the staff and doctor remain very caring and professional. WARNING DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMALS HERE THIS PLACE IS DISGUSTING, OVERPRICED, AND CUSTOMER SERVICE IS AWFUL I worked here for two days, I have always taken pride in the fact that I can keep a job and do a job well. Since graduating from college and moving back to the area I thought taking a reception job here would be a good next step. It wasn't. On my first day another receptionist overcharge a customer by over $2,500. A couple of the girls giggled about the mistake like it was no big deal. They had no remorse. Do not trust this place with your credit or debit card. A huge mistake like this is not taken seriously and I'm sure it happens a lot. I was given no clear directions or training and everytime I had a question the other receptionist were to caught up in gossip to be bothered with helping me. The next day they had me cleaning. This place is DISGUSTING. I used an entire roll of paper towels to clean up the filth and grime that had built up onto the shelves they put the dog and cat food on. Animals would come in and tinkle on the front mat and the entire staff would ignore it. I found multiple rat catchers, and RAT FECES all around the food while doing my cleaning. Along with the rat turd was dog and/or cat poop caked onto parts of the floor. It had been baking in the sunlight for days. After cleaning, the manager took me into the back office where she told me I did not have the personality she was looking for. She got this information from maybe the 15 minutes I spent with her. I guess if you aren't apart of the gossip girl squad you lack in personality. I have worked in customer services for years, customers have used me by name in reviews because I will go above and beyond for them. But I have to be confident in the job that I'm doing in order to serve customers. No one gave me that chance. I would not give my money to a business that treats their employees this way. Ironically, while I was scrubbing this filthy place, I kept thinking about what horrible customer service skills the other receptionist had. People are not greeted when they walk through the doors, they are short and snippy on the phones after putting you on a 1/2 hour hold, they are not attentive to people who are standing at the front desk waiting for them, and the manager just watches like nothing is wrong. If you appreciate less than mediocre customer service, unsanitary environments, over priced treatment, and want to play a game of Russian Roulette when handing someone your debit card then Block House Creek Animal Hospital is for you! I can't believe I haven't done this sooner. We first came here 3 years ago when one of our pups was suffering from TERRIBLE allergies and Banfield was only prescribing antibiotics without doing cultures or even finding the root of the problem. We were lucky enough to find Dr. Hodges. She quickly became our pup's "girlfriend" as he was visiting her so often and she was taking such great care of him. Everything from routine checkups, to boarding, to allergy flare ups (although Dr Hodges finally got his allergies under control) is pleasant for both us and the dogs. Jamie at the front desk is efficient and so sweet, too! Today's events are what prompted the realization I had not written a rave review yet, though. One of our boys was diagnosed with lymphoma earlier this year. I'll spare you the details of how he was the best dog, most beautiful dog, etc. but just know that he was. He had spent AMPLE time at Blockhouse since his condition was 1) so serious 2) worsening so rapidly and 3) he previously had 2-yes TWO-emergency surgeries from indulging in corn cobs. He was basically a staple at Blockhouse because we boarded them monthly and he was a giant dog with an even bigger personality. Anyway, today the time came to put Boomer down and end his suffering. Dr. Hosges and Robin came to our house so our other dog could say goodbye, we could be with him and he could be in his own home. As tough as that was, we couldn't have asked for a better send off for our big red dog. Dr Hodges' compassion, professionalism and straight up medical know-how make her a true gem in the veterinary world and we are so incredibly lucky to have found her. This is absolutely the best place ever! I've been taking my animals there for over 12 years to Dr. U and the last few years,  Dr. Hodges. One of my dogs I had was very sick after I was recouping from surgery. He got to the point he needed daily care by them. Dr. Hodges took such great care of him and me and when it came time to let him go,  she was so caring. I have since adopted another dog and they take such great care of him. I love going there cause I have my vet,  groomer and boarder all in one so my dog is used to only one place and the same people! I have been using these guys for many years now. My biggest complaint is that I didn't find them sooner and I wasted a lot of time and money with other vets! I have 10 dogs and a few other random animals, all of which have had excellent care at Block House. We breed, show, and raise several breeds and we've had all types of emergencies from broken bones to c sections. We've had all our special needs such as knee surgeries and breeding issues taken care of in house. Most vets send you away for that kind of issue. If you want to pay less money and not get your problems taken care of, go find a small clinic somewhere that are clueless. You'll spend more in the long run anyway. You get what you pay for and I've had absolutely no questions with my bills or level of care from them. I see people complaining about costs of preventative meds on here.. I'm pretty sure your not forced at gun point to buy them. I couldn't be happier with these guys (special shout out for Dr Hodges and Dr Ubanzic) I cannot say enough good words about them and I send all my pups families to them. My dog just had his second knee surgery (TPLO) at BHCA. I cannot tell you how thrilled we have been about the quality of services and care we have received each and every time we have we have brought one of our animals (dogs & cats) here. My dog is a nervous wreck at the vet after his second surgery, so Dr. Hodges was kind enough to come see him in our car to avoid any unnecessary anxiety. I highly recommend the vet services here because no matter who we have seen, my animals and myself have always been treated with compassion and the team always has our best interest in mind. We had used Block House for several years with no issue. About 4 months ago, one of our existing dogs had puppies and we started bringing in the two that we kept. Both of the puppies and mom ended up with skin conditions that BH treated and treated and treated ($$$) with no seeming fix and very poor communication. We ended up moving vets out of financial necessity and wanting to actually get them healthy, and the "vet records" that we requested from them to give to the new place don't even have any vaccination records or any useful information about the recent treatment. Went to log into our online account to see if I could pull them myself, and our access had been cut off. Very frustrating, especially after being happy with them for such a long time! Read Less

If you love your pet and want them well taken care of, this is definitely not the place you want to take them. We have only boarded our dogs here and not used their vet. Every time we pick them up the cost is never what we were quoted. Also, they have over vaccinated our dogs on more than one occasion. If you asked me why we continued to board there, I don't think I could give a good answer. It might be because they make it completely impossible to get records from. Last time we did, they gave our 4 yr old boxer a rabbies vaccine even though we sent over paperwork showing he just received that shot about a week before. When we complained to the manager and asked if it would make our dog sick, they labeled us as difficult and argumentative. Read Less

Above and beyond! We used Blockhouse Creek when we lived in Leander, and loved the place. Dr. Hodges (Curl back then) was always compassionate thoughtful and caring with our two Yorkies that we treat like family. We moved downtown Austin and tried to use different vets that were closer to us. Recently our male  Yorkie once again developed bladder stones. We took him to two different vets in Austin and one in round rock before deciding we needed to go back to Blockhouse. The round rock vet seemed to be more interested in the financial aspect than  taking care of our loved one. We spent $800 on test at that vet before deciding we needed to go to a place we trust. We called block house and spoke to Dr. Hodges. We brought him in and she confirmed he definitely needed surgery to remove two stones and two polyps. We were already leaving the country for a week  and could not get out of our commitment on a Saturday and the operation was on Monday. Her and her tech Took our email and cell phone numbers and updated  us every day on the operation, recovery and sent us pictures each day. That was priceless for us. We could not pick him up until Saturday and she made sure she was there so that we could immediately come from the airport to the clinic and pick him up. We could tell that she had bonded with Sebastian and obviously took very good care of him. And as far as the bill for the operation and kenneling, half the cost of the other vets quote. Needless to say we will be making the drive back to Blockhouse from now on. Read Less

This is the only vet we could find that could help us with our minipig! They were awesome and didn't gouge us with a big bill at the end. Our vet was very knowledgable and nice. I have 5 Bostons and a Cat.  All of which have been entrusted to the Care Block House Creek for the past 4 plus years. Great knowledgeable staff.  I've spent a lot of money there, since 3 August 3012 to Jun 2016 I have conducted 35 transactions/payments totaling over $3445.00 for pet maintenance! I've always tried to have a plus balance on my account and every time I did and my spouse went for a visit it would be drained for unnecessary purchases.  I don't need 6 months worth of trifexis Heart worm medicine!!!!! but they did provide good pet maintenance and I valued the relationships I had with the staff.  I have never dishonored our relationship or compromised my integrity, fell on hard times and manned up to go into their office to tell the staff. However Business is Business period. No hard feelings right?.  Since Friday my dog has been very sick, today is Monday and my dog is in worse shape, she currently has 2 dead puppies inside her, there were 4.  The stench is horrible, she is not eating she is just in pain.  I went up there first to coordinate with the staff to see if would could come to some type of arrangement 35 transactions/payments and 3445.00 dollars later of course.  The Dr couldn't see me but I was told to bring my ill dog in, when I did they sent me away because I had a balance in arrears.  You could have saved me so much trouble.  Blood stains in my car!   Would I recommend you others? ABSOLUTELY!!!! but get bank account ready. When I get my arrears squared away I will be collecting up my pets records and moving on. Thank You for the pet Maintenance you have provided in the past. Just picked up my boy Zeus from Block House, he had his ears cropped. Can I say that everyone showed Zeus so much love. I wish Block House wasn't such a drive for us or they'd be his regular vet. They kept Zeus overnight to monitor him and redressed the bandage before we left. They have a back line number of your family member is there overnight. Can't wait to see the finished product, but I'd recommend Dr. Urbanczyk and his entire staff of you're in the Cedar Park area.Read Less

We learned about Blockhouse Creek Animal Hospital when our peacock was gravely injured by our daughter's dog. Our daughter took Tonto (the bird) to see Dr. Urbanczyk, and he literally saved the bird's life, and walked us through the aftercare. We were so impressed with Dr. U's knowledge, service, and personality that we transferred the care of our three beloved labradoodles to him. He is, without a doubt, the best vet we've ever known. Being a physician, I'm extremely critical of all health care providers, including those for my animals. Dr. U is caring, personable, very knowledgable, and practical in his care. The entire staff is extremely friendly, and, most importantly, truly love our pets. There are not enough positive things to say about Dr. U and Blockhouse Creek. While we were on vacation the Block House Creek Animal Hospital watched over Elmo our Umbrella Cockatoo. This was the first time Elmo was ever dropped off somewhere for care....we usually would have someone at the house to watch him but we do not have that option since moving to Texas. We were very worried he would have issues since these birds are flock birds and sensitive to big changes. Well he did just fine! The people their were GREAT! Many wanted to tell us their experiences with him and say goodbye to him before we left. He was so well taken care of he didn't really touch his toys we left for him. One of the Vets told us that she worked at a bird sanctuary with over 400 birds, many were cockatoos, and she had NEVER seen a cockatoo so happy and socialized! She couldn't believe it. They got him out, he was happy to be with them and love to cuddle. Good to know we now have a place to take him when we go somewhere. Read Less

This is a fine vet clinic, unless you have an emergency. I stood there at the front desk with our dying cat in a laundry basket and my two crying kids behind me while the girl at the desk made me wait while she unsuccessfully tried to locate our file. I told her it was  a DIRE emergency, and we even called ahead, but she insisted nothing could be done without a file. By the time she called back "emergency" and a vet came up, the cat was gone. The vets are great, the techs are great, but this is not the first time I've taken issue with their front desk staff. Woefully under trained for emergency situations. I would give BHCAH a 100+ star review if I could. BHCAH opened in the 1980s & my family & I have been taking our animals there ever since. They do run slow & the turn over of new techs & office staff can be frustrating if you are not accustomed to the place. With that said Dr. U runs a tight ship because he understands your 4 legged fur baby is part of the family & deserves the  up most care & attention. I've never had a doctors office take care of me like BHCAH cared for my dog over the years, especially once he became elderly & started having health issues. Dr. U never gave up on my 4 legged son. Dr. U would do the research & hit the text books to find anything & everything to do to make sure my furry son had the best quality life possible for as long as possible. Not only did he make sure my fur baby was ok but he would ask how I was doing in life & in relation to my fur baby. I had 14 wonderful years with my 4 legged son & I wouldn't imagine letting anyone but Dr. U see him. When my sweet 4 legged son finally passed away this year Dr. U and his staff mourned & grieved with me. The LCP area may seem like an odd place to find a world class vet, but that is exactly what you will get at BHCAH. Read Less

So apparently I'm the worst cat owner ever and didn't realize my cat had a tumor the size of my fist. To my credit, she's enormous and it's hard to see in between her rolls. Which actually isn't a credit to me I guess. Anyway, the vet and staff at Blockhouse got her in same day and reviewed all my options (including realistic and accurate pries of options). I never felt pressured to do any option.  On surgery day, they gave me up to date texts all day and reaponded the minute they knew what type of tumor it was. (Benign). Never a wait. Ever. And they know our dog every time he comes in (bc he's startlingly handsome and engaging of course). The only reason they don't get 5 stars is their online pet portal doesn't ever work and they won't let you online order rx. But I trust my fat spoiled cat and my perfect dog with them, forever.
