I have lived around the country and have been lucky to be blessed with great pet hospitals. It disturbs me to read all the negative comments. No one is going to get along with everyone. I was lucky to find Dr. Pittman who has always, always gone over my options and I have NEVER been forced to purchase anything. Remember, our pets can't tell us what is wrong . It is called the practice of medicine for a reason. They are always learning in the medical field. Just as with humans. Before bashing, please remember you make your choices for your pets. If your not comfortable just leave. I myself have had nothing but compassion from anyone there. Also, if you see one doctor try to stay with that doctor unless there is an emergency. They will be better and more comfortable with one doctor as well. I will continue to take my pets there unless something would steer me otherwise. Read Less

I just took my beautiful 7 year old healthy min pin dog to Buttercup Hospital in Cedar Park TX, to get his teeth cleaned this morning (July 11,2018) ; I paid for all the preop exams including an EKG which apparently did not register anything bad prior to the op.... they just notified me that my dog died in the middle of the procedure for no apparent reason? to add insult to injury when I got there I am notified that they are trying CPR on him but if I want to continue it will be extra charge....at that moment I realize they don't care about what they caused to my dog but to get their money. not only did I loose my dog for something that wasn't necessary but was recommended by their vet. This is so unethical, shows a complete lack of empathy and I feel so guilty about it for choosing their service and following their recommendations....Rest in peace my dear Caleb.... Beware people of clinics that give you such good lip service, send you kind email reminders and birthdays to lure you into thinking they really care for your pet and not the bottom line...my dog was the happiest dog this morning and I feel guilty for basically scheduling an unnecessary murder session because the vet suggested it. I normally love dropping my dog off here for vet services and bathing. However, this morning was the worst customer service ever. Had we not had previous good experiences I would never go back. There was only one person working this morning and the people she was waiting on were taking a long time. It would have been nice if the lady at the front desk could have broken away for the probably 2 minutes it took me to check my dog in after waiting inside for 10-15 minutes. By the time she got to us our lab was shaking .. she was happy originally coming in. And, a couple of people who work in the back came up front while I was waiting and never offered to help me. I hope my next dropoff is a much better experience or we might need to find another vet in Cedar Park .. as there are plenty of them. Read Less

We've been coming to Buttercup creek Vet for Almost 16 years... all I can say is they've been there with compassion and care for all of our Furbabies...  at the worst of times when our beloved Basset hound couldn't walk, Dr. Pittman was so loving, very intune with our Nortons pain and how to help him. They called to check on him after appts. Advised of various options and fees.We put our trust 100% in Dr. Pittman, and she was Our Nortons primary vet through out his life. She preformed loving care, surgery and gave us hope. Our Norton would bark and bay the entire time he was out the Vets, and let's say he was always the loudest barker. We always felt bad for the way he carried on with the barking, Dr. Pittman always laughed when he carried on. When he got sicker as he got older she'd sit with him and me in the floor and pet him and discuss our options. I would trust no one for my fur babies but Dr. Pittman and Buttercup Creek Vet.. everyone their cares for you and your babies. The best practice around. When our Norton passed always suddenly on a late night, when the staff at Buttercup creek found out, they all signed and sent a condolence card with the funniest memories of our Norts, it meant the world to our family and I still have it. She also treated our beloved Chihuahua Ake who had seizures and made him the best he could be. After a year of no furbabies, I finally bought a new puppy Dougal. The only Vet practice I trust and put my faith in is Dr. Pittman and the staff at Buttercup creek Vet.They are looking after our new pup with the same love and care as they have been for almost 16 years. You want a caring Vet practice, who will treasure their patients? Buttercup Creek Vets are for you. Read Less

After going to Buttercup for years, I'm finally switching. It was always annoying to not be seen close to the scheduled appointment time, but my recent situation angered me enough to go to another vet. After completing an application for (another) shelter mutt, a call was placed to ensure routine vaccinations and heart worm preventive. I've NEVER missed the heartworm/flea & tick preventive in the last 24 years I've owned pets. I don't use PetMeds on any online service, only the vet. Fortunately, I was able to prove that relatively easily since the shelter was told I hadn't purchased any in over a year. Secondly, the "missing" vaccinations were primarily those we do as needed such as Bordetella (I kennel rarely) but did discover I was behind on DAP. Why, I asked, wasn't this mentioned when I was in not once but twice for a recent UTI my pet had? They "were so concerned" about the UTI they didn't look at the pet's records is what I was told. I felt as if they were trying to squeeze more office visits out of me when I was told of this reason. I asked if the Vet mentioned to the shelter the THOUSANDS I've spent on dental care for my (now deceased, lived to 15 years old) pet? Of course not. I sounded like a terrible pet parent which is not true. I don't even use vaccination clinics (usually a fundraiser) - I go to the vet but will not be going to Buttercup anymore. Read Less

This place leaves a bad taste in my mouth every time I visit. The first time I visited, the vet tech wanted make me feel like I didn't know anything and that I needed her expertise. She told me that my pup was not what I thought, even though I know the parents. The second time I visited, they redid my puppy's shots even though I had proof that his shots were up to date. The third time I visited, I asked them to trim and buff my puppy's nails. They charged me double the competitor's price and only trimmed them, leaving his nails sharp. The point of trimming them is to make them not sharp and painful when he jumps on me.The fourth and final visit, I took my puppy in because he was throwing up. They charged me $250 and did not find a reason for his illness. The whole time the vet was treating my pup, the vet tech was trying to sell me something else, a year worth of flea and tick, heartworms, flu shots, blood tests, heartworm test, etc. She also tried to scold me for my sick puppy growling at her when she tried to take him. TLDR: This place costs an arm and leg for mediocre work, and the techs like to talk down to people. Read Less

We have been with this clinic for about 31 years, when Dr. Wells was the lone Veteranarian.  They have been with us through some of the happiest days,as well as the saddest. When we moved to Cedar Park we had 2 dogs and three cats. Over the years they have taken care of four more dogs, our Boston Terriers,as well as a stray cat that showed up to our house and had 5 kittens.Unfortunately Mama kitty had feline AIDS,so we had to hand raise her very healthy babies. Today we are left with one of our Bostons', Lulu and she has been going through some battles with her health. ( Cancer, heart issue, and terrible allergies. This group of people have truly shown us nothing but love and compassion. Every single person from Brooke and Kaylie the receptionists,to Chanel and Leslie the techs, and all of the wonderful vets,Dr Mary Paige Corcoran,Dr.Pittman,Dr. Melott,Dr. Schmidt Dr Cotier and Dr. Chang and Virginia, the groomer make us feel that our pets were and are loved and so very well taken care of. They do treat us like family and we feel the same way about them. I know that everyone has their own experience, but I just have a hard time seeing some of the negative comments. I hope I didn't leave anyone out of this review, because I know that everyone at this clinic strive for perfection. I just met Dr. Chang this morning after Kaylie made an emergency space for us. She performed some acupuncture and Lulu seems to be more comfortable now than she has in a while. THANK YOU ALL,for caring for my family. You are the BEST and we love you. Read Less

We had to switch vets. BVH charges more for food and services, then other vets. We discovered this when we had to take our cat to another vet after hours. Their after hours/weekend rate were cheaper then BVH's normal fees. Our cat ended up being diabetic. I started comparing prices and BVH was always at least $20.00 more for testing. They even had me do a test to only tell me there was no point in that test because she hadn't fasted. Then why have me do the test? The final straw for me was when they charged me $170.00 to put down a 4 lb Sr dog we had adopted. Long story short we knew we wouldn't have her long, but we didn't want her to die in the shelter. BVH had us do all kinds of blood work, even though we knew the dog didn't have long to live. (she lived 2 months with us) We had hoped she would just go peacefully at home, but on day 3 I didn't want to put her and the family through it anymore. We made an appointment to have her put down. The vet walked in and said she was sorry they hadn't gotten her in quicker because she was so far along and she was in a coma. When they handed me the bill I was shocked at the cost, but my daughter was with me and it just wasn't the time to argue about price. I paid and we left. I called 3 other places to ask what they would have charged. The emergency vet was $90.0, two other vets were $100. The vets said had she been an established patient it would have been $70.00. I called BVH back the next day and talked to the office manager. She said the price was firm. She was sorry for our loss, but that was the price. It's one thing to charge more for all the other services, but to take advantage of people at their lowest point really says something about a business. Read Less

We have taken all 3 of our cats to this clinic since we moved to Cedar Park. Very friendly staff and always great with explanations of costs and treaments. Our cats have seen most of their doctors and each one has been very thorough, great listeners, personable, and never rushed a visit. Last year one of our cats was diagnosed with a mouth tumor and the clinic was very supportive and helpful in helping our cat feel very comfortable in her last days with us. They even helped us get in contact/set up with a cancer specialist. In the end, Buttercup Vet Hospital was able to provide the last services in our own home to help our cat journey over the rainbow bridge. I took my kitten to this vet for an eye squinting slightly, with a small discolored spot in the corner of her eye, she was given antibiotic eye drops and a steroid shot, under the assumption is was a scratch. Her eye got worse by the next day, was now completely held closed and had gone very red. They said to take her back in. I mentioned that I thought it might be Herpes, since I had been reading about it and it seemed to match what she had, and she had just been sick with Herpes like symptoms a few days before, also the fact she came from a feral colony that had known Herpes carriers added to the possibility. The vet and assistant literally LAUGHED at me, and told me it was impossible, because she wasn't sneezing right now and both eye weren't infected. She was given more eye drops and more steroids. Her eye got drastically worse. The only good thing is the vet told me to take her to a specialist if it didn't get better, but by that point we had to wait a week to get in to see them. They confirmed that is WAS Herpes, and that the steroid shots and the ingredients in the eye drops were actually helping the Herpes to get worse. By then her whole eye was completely clouded over, and she now had four ulcers and pits, when she only came in with one small ulcer. As soon as she was given the proper treatment for Herpes her eye began improving, but her eye is now permanently smaller and pitted, which would not have happened if she had been treated correctly in the first place, and my concerns of Herpes had not been laughed away. Also I wasted over $200 for a vet that made the situation worse, and much much more for a specialist, for something that could have been handled easily from the beginning. I'm disabled and have very little money, and a lot of rescues to take care of, I can't afford to waste money on doctors that make the problem worse. If they didn't know what to do the least they could have done was send me to the specialist right away, instead of having me come back in for a second useless visit. Read Less

Dr. Pittman is a star! She and all of the staff here at Buttercup have been wonderful these past four months. Our German Shepherd went into acute kidney failure in early April and Dr. Pittman was instrumental in getting our girl the care she desperately needed to stay alive. Between Dr. Pittman and Heart of Texas in Round Rock, our girl is healthy and on the road to a permanent recovery. In addition to just being a great vet hospital they also do boarding and grooming, which comes in handy. Got our girl groomed yesterday because she was *finally* shedding her winter coat (they don't call them German "Shedders" for nothin'!) and she looks wonderful! I'm pretty sure they took about five pounds of fur off her plus she got a bath and her nails trimmed...and they dressed her in an adorable bandana I can't bear myself to take off! I'm bummed I'll soon be moving from Cedar Park to Round Rock but I will keep returning to Buttercup because they are just that good! Read Less

Although we have lived in CP for nearly 20 years, it was until the last few that we started taking our dog, Cheyenne, to BVH. Sadly, after ~15 years of just being "60 pounds of love and fur", she had developed a terminal condition and we had to put her down earlier this year. For the first time in "forever", there was no wagging tail to greet you when you came home, the toys would go un-played-with and her bed untouched. Through it all, the vets and staff at BVH shared our pain, their eyes wattered when ours did, their voices softened as we struggled for words and, when we revisited them a few weeks later, we were even give the kindest "sympathy" card, complete with personal messages from each member of the staff. It was wonderful to be reminded that Cheyenne really did touch everyone she met - she really was just "60 pounds of love and fur". Read Less

I have been going to Dr. Corcoran for 11 years. First with my dog Brandy who was a senior when I moved to Cedar Park. Dr. Corcoran always understood my needs around the care I had given Brandy for many years and while she recommended some things that I could do to extend Brandy's life she also understood when I couldn't go through with doing them. For example, I didn't want my dog put under anesthesia at 14/15 years old to have her teeth cleaned. My baby lived until 40 days shy of her 17th birthday (April 2010). I had used this vet originally years ago, as in, early 2000's, and can't remember having any issues with them. However, I brought my cat in today for a simple issue and while in the room they had my husband and I sign an estimate of the services that came to $177 for 2 injections, a urinalysis, and the visit. When I returned to pick my cat up, I was told my total was $275. A hundred dollars more than my estimate. Keep in mind, I was called and told my cat was ready to be picked up and given an explanation of what the issues were, and never once was the new outrageous cost mentioned. I ended up not taking some of the supplements they gave me and still ended up paying $242. My 60 pound dog has epilepsy and received a FULL extensive workup at the emergency vet over by Duval in the middle of the night for this same price. I understand they are a small local business, but this is so overpriced, and its just bad business to give someone an estimate that's $100 lower than the actual price.Read Less

I have a problem child, Barlo the Bad Egg.The one time hubby and I strayed off the our course of only having smart, reliable, friendly golden retrievers was cause I saw Barlo on the TV (Pet of the Week!) and had to rescue him from the pound.  He's been a handful ever since (8 years) and I tell him weekly I'd take him back to jail if he weren't so damn cute. Anyway, not only does he have health issues (he's got a glandular problem) but he's also super dog aggressive.  Been in jail for that too.  And as much as that's been a huge problem, it does seem to have its benefits at the animal hospital.  He gets rock star attention when we go....no waiting in the lobby where the other patients are...nope, they will quickly usher us into a room, sometimes refereeing the other animals aside, and always with a smile and a compliment to him that he's such a good dog.  Now, I don't have kids, but I would imagine any parent would feel relief that their problem child is still loved and well cared for despite his, uh, foibles (and the scary cage muzzle). I have been bringing all my pets here for around 15 years and yes, I have seen a multitude of vets.  That's the only drawback is that I never know who we will see and therefore never really feel a connection with any single doctor.  But all the rest of the staff has always been courteous, professional and, as stated, understanding and patient.  And fortunately for me they are only about a mile from my house.  So, I can walk my giant dogs there instead of cramming them in my V_lv_.  Convenient and compassionate.  And they love my Bad Egg.  I will miss them when we move. Dr. Pittman was very helpful and recommended me to a specialist immediately after determining he needed further help than she could offer, rather than repeating tests and running up bills.  They were very kind to follow up the next day to see how my kitties appt with the specialist  went and how he was doing.  Definitely will be returning if the need arises. I was dog sitting for a couple and they asked me to take their two dogs in to get their nails clipped and pick up medication. These dogs visit this location once a month. The people know them and they KNOW the dogs temperament. The youngest dog gets really excited. She kept barking/whining/crying, etc. I successfully quieted her down a couple of times. The last time, they asked me to take her outside. It's a vet office! Not a library! If someone was on the phone, I can understand asking me to leave, but no. Just seems like they were annoyed. I have a German Shepherd and I won't be taking her here. Read Less

My dog was very sick with distemper. They wanted me to pay $250 for a test to diagnose it, but when I went to another vet they said it was pointless since there was no other disease that caused facial ticks like our puppy had and they were 100% sure it was distemper. Glad I didn't get suckered into paying for an unncessary test at Buttercup. They also made me come back to the clinic to get a dosage for a medication I had to buy elsewhere instead of just telling me over the phone. I bought exactly what they told me to get, and they had my dog's weight because she had been there earlier that day for a checkup. I ended up waiting for 25 minutes in a room before having to leave. They called me to apologize but that I would have to come back and refused to give me the dosage over the phone. Then, I called another vet and got the dosing with no problem. In short, they want to charge you an arm and a leg for unnecessary costs and have no consideration for your time. I'm taking my pet's care elsewhere. Read Less

About 4 weeks ago my dog that had been in the family got very sick and died. When my teenagers found the dog outside in distress they scooped her up and rushed to Buttercup Creek Animal Hospital where Dr. Corcoran met them at the door and took the dog and tried everything to save her life without sucess. She did not ask any questions just did what she is trained to do as a Vet. She also helped my kids call my wife and myself without telling them that our dog had passed away. I need to add that this dog was treated for a large tumor about 6 years ago at this clinic and we were told that she would not last 6 months and we got almost 6 years. Anyway with all this being said they only charged me $5 for this effort to save my dog and gave me a very nice dog angle pin and to top that off we got a sympothay card signed by ALL the employees. By far the best vet ever! Read Less

I had my 1st dog put down at this vet hospital. It cost over 600 bucks to put him down and creamate him. Pretty steep cost.I then got a new puupy, from a great breeder. All I needed was his rabie shot. The breeder had a puppy booklet with what shots and worm rx she gave the puppy, and the shot lables. I emailed this vet here, told her all my puppy needed was his rabie shot that was it. I then asked her to call the breeder and she did. The breeder again told this vet here that all the puppy needed was his rabie shot he have had every other shot and worm treatment. I went in and showed the desk the puppy's booklet of shots he had so far. I went in back and right away showed the lady vet the booklet. She went ahead and regave my puupy all his shots again and worm rx. I even went in next time with someone who only needed the dogs rabie shot.I told this vet we were going to a feed store to get the 5 or 7 way shoot for the dog. The vet bad mouth the feed store telling me the rx is never kept cold,,and to have the shots done by her. 32 bucks to drop my dog on a scale, get real,is what they charge. And they will do that everytime you come in for any reason charge you 32 bucks and more. Their prices are way way to steep.Bad mouthing feedstores that have been in business for almost 100 years, treating thousands of dogs, cats, horses, cattle and what not. This is very very wrong. If the feedstore that has been in business for almost 100 years, had not kept the rx cold. The store would have been shut down. It is a very very bad way of doing business, the way this vet did to me. I know she does it to everybody. people ned to go find a better and more honest vet than this place. All this vet cares about is making a buck for herself. And taking business away from feed stores and other vets who have been in business for way way longer than Buttercup creek animal hospital. I've been going to Buttercup Creek Animal Hospital for 7 years now. We just came from there today after taking our pit bull for his yearly checkup. The staff is wonderful, they treat my dog like he's the only one coming to see them. I've had nothing but top notch service at a very reasonable price, even in an emergency. The vet tech, Julie, who has been there for a long time, always greets us with a smiling face, and treats our DK like he is her own. Dr. Corcoran, has always been, and will always be our vet of choice. She is phenomenal with all animals I have seen her with, and loves them like her own. She makes sure that she takes all the time necessary for a very thorough examination. Her attention to detail is unmatched. As we left there today, I couldn't help but remark how I feel like they treat me more special than anyone else. I leave there feeling like I'm their #1 customer. That is service that should be expected anywhere you spend your money. Buttercup Creek Animal Hospital serves as a perfect example of how I want people to feel about me as a real estate agent. My oldest KC wasn't feeling up to par. He kept scratching his ears fiercely and crying. So I booked him an appointment and began my search for his collar & leash. Yes, I have a cat carrier but last time my Houdini used his claws and unzipped the case. So I had a cat loose in the car. Not an easy job getting him back in the carrier.I have been using BCAH for 15 years, first with my dogs and now with the cats. They are conviently close but their doctors change as frequently as the weather here in Texas. So going in I have no idea who will be the Vet this time.  I lucked out, this one likes cats. Oh, I am jumping ahead. Short wait after I sign in. I am in the room no more than three minutes when in walks the Vet. Fast. She starts cooing how cute he is. KC knows how to play the women so he goes to her and cuddles with her. Great, now I will have to spend the rest of the day with his large ego.She gets on with checking him out. She takes him in the back room to give him his rabies shot. Tells me he has ear mites, and explains the medicine. We are done in 15 minutes. I have never been in and out so fast. The last Vet to check him out, well, let's just say they didn't like each other. He was hissing at her and she was muzzling him.So even tho, it was a short visit it wasn't cheap, almost 300.

My husband and I are very grateful for everything that they did to help our Happy Cat. Thank you, Buttercup. Read Less

I still miss her even though I have two new 4 year old sisters now. Gidget and Delilah have only ever known Dr. Corcoran and they love her as much as she loves them.
