Pet care doesn't get any better than this. The first time we used Dr. Thompson and staff was when we returned from a ski trip. One of our dogs was SO excited to see us that he ran in circles and caught his haunch on the only uncovered screw sticking out from the bottom of the trampoline. Ripped a HUGE 15 inch laceration on his hip and tore the skin away! We were horrified! Let's just say that I could never work in the medical field, because I could hardly even look at the injury without nearly vomiting. Our neighbors, who were clients of Dr. Thompson's, knew the phone number by heart, and we called right at closing time. The tech who answered was so gracious and calm, and was able to accurately assess the injury. She told us to come in right away and that of course Dr. Thompson would stay and treat our pet. We left our teenagers in charge of unloading the car and raced over to the office. The tech greeted us in the parking lot, helped keep the dog (and me!) calm, and when my husband mentioned that he hadn't even been to the bathroom since our return, she showed him to a nice grassy area out back. Just kidding! They have a people restroom too!. Dr. Thompson took over and decided that, yes, he needed surgery. He patiently explained all the risks both during and after the procedure, and then went to work. Hours later, at probably about 11pm, when he should have been home with his wife and kids, he called to let us know that things had gone well, and that our dog would be able to leave the next day.We brought him home the next day, but several complications that Dr. Thompson had warned us about came to fruition: the anesthesia caused our dog's esophagus and stomach trouble, so that he was unable to keep food down; in addition, the skin that had peeled away had essentially died and was not healing well. To make a long story short, Dr. Thompson and staff ended up having to board our dog in order to make sure he recuperated properly. I was encouraged to visit often, and I got daily (and sometimes more) reports on his progress. It was such a stressful situation for our family, but Dr. Thompson and his staff were SO patient, kind and knowledgeable that it really eased our minds! Medical care is never cheap, even for pets, but Cedar Park Animal Clinic is very reasonable. We had another mishap while we were on another vacation...apparently our dogs don't like vacations....? Or thunderstorms...? and one of them (the SAME ONE..sigh) decided that having bloody diarrhea was the solution...? So, Dr. Thompson to the rescue again. Our neighbors who were pet-sitting for us took the dogs to him, and he treated them until our return from two states away a week later. We are big fans and "Regulars" now because of our personal experiences with Dr. Thompson and his entire staff. They are obviously animal lovers! Read Less
