I honestly have no complaints with my experience here. I like Dr. Douglas and try to schedule so I get him whenever I have to bring my dog in. My dog is a service animal so I don’t settle for second best in her care. I love the techs here and all interactions I have had with all staff members has been nothing but pleasant. I actually went to this vet at first because the shelter I adopted from had certain vets I could redeem a free exam at since a vet exam is required right after adopting from them, and this place was the closest to my home and highest rated as far as the offices listed on the voucher. After my experience there I decided they were worth going back to, and have kept coming back since. They give me Trifexis for my dog’s flea, intestinal parasite, and heartworm all-in-one, and while more expensive than say a flea collar which can be more dangerous and far less effective, and only covers fleas and ticks (and only in the area around the collar), it is definitely worth it if affordable. I’ve never even found a tick on my dog in areas where I found them on my friends and other dogs were getting them as well, although this is because my dog is in the lower weight range of her dose and so its effectiveness is higher than it would be with a heavier dog. Trifexis doesn’t target ticks. Visits are very inexpensive yet not low-quality. Even when I was doing lepto boosters as well as getting the monthly Trifexis, the visit total was only $62.50. I’ve seen other vets in the area charge far more, with lower quality in the care, so this was refreshing to me. I recommend this place to other dog owners. I can’t say about cats as my two cats go to a different vet because that’s where they went when my late grandmother had them, and their current vet is fine and also has the full history so it would be time-consuming to switch them. I also should point out that when I express a concern, they never write it off. Bald spots, coughing, urine leakage, bladder infections, and more. All have been thoroughly checked and I could not be happier with the level of care. There has been one mistake where I was given too little of a medication to last until the next appointment but I believe that simply boils down to a human error and is easily remedable, not harmful to my dog at all, so it doesn’t harm my opinion of them. I live all the way in Austin and it’s about 20 minutes on a good day to drive up to see this vet, but it is worthwhile to me as my working dog deserves the best of care. Read Less

I have to say I have never been so disappointed in Cedar Park Animal Clinic like I have today. In the last 2 months I have spent over $700.00 in charges no problem but today a totally different story. My dog did something to her leg and is having a hard time walking. I called the vet and asked them if I could possibly bring her in for them to look at and allow me to split the payment. You would think that the animal would be the top priority NO she is not. They flat out said no. We have been using them and affordable pet care for years and have never asked them to allow me to split the payment. My dog has a lot of health issues so a vet is something we use a lot. I guess it's time to find another. Such a shame and shame on them. Read Less

Nice staff, but they hurt my dog during the heartworm check. She missed the vein and instead of immediately removing the needle and trying again, she moved the needle whilst still in my puppies arm and caused my puppy to cry in pain. Any chimpanzee knows when you miss a vein to immediately remove the needle, but I guess she didn't. To top that off, my puppies leg swelled up, and now she limps and favors that leg. She is hurt forever. The sad thing is, we can't sue them because this red state of Texas favors Corporate entities. You can't sue for loss, only damages, so this clinic would have to be the one to treat her injury. Not going to happen. Then they tried to charge us $180 for one year of heartworm medication. I guess you can tell we won't be returning. Read Less

I have been bringing our lab to Cedar Park Animal Clinic since he was just a puppy. We spent over $500+ each year in vet and boarding services and was happy with the service and care we received. Heart worm medication prices are through the roof and we found qualified medications sold online for half the price. Since I purchased the medication at another location this veternarian is now increasing all other services including annual heart worm test since they cannot match the discount I am getting for this one medication! Absolutely insulting for a client who has paid a significant cost to their business to only then be treated with this type of extortion. I am taking ALL services related to my dog to another veterinarian clinic. Cedar Park Animal Clinic is acting in bad faith here, and has no regard for their customers. Read Less

Have been going here for years. I'm even friends with some of the employees. Twice now we have had emergency type problems with our dogs during their normal business hours. They didn't make any effort to get us in to see the doctor They just told us they didnt have any openings, and to go to the emergency center. A few days ago, our puppy was feeling bad not eating and lethargic. They couldn't fit us in so we made a apoinment for two days later. We ended up having to take him to the emergency clinic where he ended up dying. A few years ago my Lab was injured and had a laceration on his leg. I put him in the car and rushed him to the clinic. When I went in the receptionist said the doctors were booked and couldn't see him. I asked for the supervisor and was told the same thing. I was at the clinic with my dog that was injured and bleeding and they turned me away. That is just unimaginable I ended up calling another clinic and they immediately got us in to see the doctor. I have known Dr Douglas and Dr Thompson for a long time and have taken many of my family's pets to them over the years. Something has changed.... They have really good creamatory services which we now need. Read Less

I have been going to Cedar Park Animal Clinic for years for my pets and they have always been very helpful, providing quality care and explaining available options to me.  They understand that while the animals are precious, cost can be a real-world factor as well as animal temperament for getting in visits and certain types of medicine.  I liked that there was no judgment for picking less expensive options first. My most recent visit was rather urgent, because I found an issue with my cat only HOURS before I was supposed to be on a plane for 2 weeks. I couldn't leave my cat in the care of neighbors knowing she might have an untreated infections so I drove right over and they fit me in and got the necessary tests/treatment going so that I could leave with confidence.  Such great customer service and understanding. We have been taking our cats to CP Animal Clinic since 2008, and have always been happy with the care provided. The clinic may not look like much, but its well maintained, and the staff really go the extra mile. The cats have been seen by different vets over the years, and we have also occasionally used the clinic's boarding facilities. Over the past year, the staff really proved their professionalism - we were planning an international move, and couldn't have relocated our pets without them! Dr Jenkins was the only USDA certified vet on staff, and along with the technicians and staff, he made sure we got everything for the pet-import process done correctly and on time. When we moved here in 2012 I had to start a search for a new veterinarian. Having had the same vet for 11 years prior it wasn't going to be an easy task.... then I found CPAC. I have deep appreciation and enormous gratitude for Dr. Thompson, Dr. Douglas, & Dr. Jenkins. The kindness, compassion and devotion they have for my pets is beyond compare. The care my fuzzies receive is amazing, even my most anxious dog quits spinning and whining when Dr. T enters the room because of his calm demeanor. The techs are amazing also! Lauren and Sarah were my strength and comfort when my super cat, Pluto, was nearing the end of fabulous 9 lives, sending pics when he was hospitalized & texts to keep me updated. When I take any of my fuzzies to the clinic we are welcomed back like old friends. The years of experience at this clinic is not only apparent by the care they have for animals but it is unparalleled to anywhere else I have ever been. I cannot say enough good things about Cedar Park Animal Clinic.  From the beginning, my dog had a complicated medical history.  The vets, Dr. Thompson and Dr. Jenkins, stepped in and were so caring about my dog.  Then, Dr. Birdwell came into the picture, and did what she could to help him.  Sadly, we lost him to heart failure which was one of the hardest times for our family as he was such a faithful and loving dog of ours for 10-1/2 years!  The Clinic was always responsive to times when he needed to be seen immediately and took him back quickly!  I will be forever grateful to the love and care he received at CPAC! These folks really care about your pets and your wallet. I took my blue healer puppy here for the first time and the charges were very minimal $86. Flea Capstar treatment, exam, Sentinel, and deworming. I've visited several other veterinary clinics before choosing. This vet did not give me the Establishment vibe. I never felt pressured about my choices, instead they agreed that 6 weeks was too young to vaccinate. We decided to wait until next month and limit contact with other animals and places. Well gee that makes sense that's what we do with infants, limit outside contact until their own immune system is ready, why not with fur babies? I really like Dr. Jenkins individual approach. I had recently been employed by Cedar Park Animal Clinic and because of an incident where i was trying to save 2 dogs from being shot I no longer am. I thought that by bringing them to a safe place that i was doing the right thing.I was told that as long as I called animal control to get them out of the clinic that they could be kept there for the day....out of the rain, the lightning ,and thunder.....Animal control was called but did not get back to me before i was off work last night. I am a petsitter for 21 years also and was up at 4:30 this morning ,left at 5:00 to do my morning runs......got through at 8:00...came home and went back to bed for a couple hours because I wasn't due at work till 1:00........I had said i would handle it but evidently it wasn't handled in the time frame that management wanted,so I was awakened this morning and told to get it handled....which I did after i got up later.....i was told that for a new employee i wasn't making a good impression......My answer to that is : To a place that is supposed to show compassion to animals whether they are sick, injured,or yes lost.i feel like my impression should have been that i am a caring compassionate person who didnt want to see 2 dogs get killed and i brought them to a place that was safe from the storms......a place that has 20 or 30 available runs that they dont even use because its not climate controlled. That would be where the employee dogs are allowed to stay if brought to work.I guess if i'd have lied and said they were my dogs that would have been ok. It didn't cost CPAC one dime for those dogs to stay one night....It worked out for the best because i found out what kind of people they really are and frankly I do not wish to work for people who make a vow to show compassion for animals and then do the opposite ........I'd like to add to this review that the same review above was posted on yelp and it has been removed ,which means someone had to make a complaint ......which could mean someone doesnt want negative things to be known about there place......I'm not saying that's a fact but you google reader's can make your own conclusions. I was charged 140 dollars and no meds prescribed for the sores on his paws .. At this point I'm beyond angry So I demand to speak to Dr Thompson ( the owner) he calls me back two days later and he politely asked me to take my business somewhere else .. This is so disappointing. CPAC came highly recommended by a friend. I have been with them for a few years. In that time, I have tried so many times to justify staying with them. Today, I just couldn't do it. The staff is always confused on services. They are never on the same page when it comes to pricing, shots, services. Multiple times I have received different quotes. I have used the kennel and been given one price for the stay and upon my return given another price because they conveniently raised prices while I was away. Recently, I boarded again and by the end of the arrangement of the appointment, I had 3 vaccinations, fecal check and a well visit. I asked to have the vaccines that were not due until March taken off until March. Picking up my dog, everything was done. This is not the first time. I have asked numerous times to have an Office Manager call me, never happens. The owner who is a one of the vets was the only reason I stayed another year. My dog was sick when I picked her up from the kennel just this past week. I called to talk to them about it and basically was brushed off. That was the last straw. Fighting price changes, charged for things that I did not want to do, no responses from office managers, and staff that is not only lacking in friendly but never seemed to be well trained so they were all providing the same thing. If you use them, pay close attention to the charges. Read Less

I visited this clinic about 5 months ago to get my pug neutered and they were fantastic. My pug, like most, had a few weird issues like extra teeth and needed them pulled. They offered to do it while he was down which helps from having to terrify him twice so that was good. Their pricing is very reasonable. Compared to my last vet it was a steal! However, that's not to say the care wasn't superb, because it totally was. They were thorough; told me every single detail about the operation, provided a copy of his vitals while he was down, and provided a prescription already broken into correct dosages for my dogs size. I was impressed! I've been going to a clinic in Round Rock, whom I will not name, that charged twice as much and never did I receive much but a huge bill for questionable blood testing. You know, the whole used car salesman pitch and being the clueless consumer we are placing trust in total strangers with thing we love. Pet care doesn't get any better than this.  The first time we used Dr. Thompson and staff was when we returned from a ski trip.  One of our dogs was SO excited to see us that he ran in circles and caught his haunch on the only uncovered screw sticking out from the bottom of the trampoline.  Ripped a HUGE 15 inch laceration on his hip and tore the skin away! We were horrified!  Let's just say that I could never work in the medical field, because I could hardly even look at the injury without nearly vomiting. Our neighbors, who were clients of Dr. Thompson's, knew the phone number by heart, and we called right at closing time. The tech who answered was so gracious and calm, and was able to accurately assess the injury.  She told us to come in right away and that of course Dr. Thompson would stay and treat our pet.  We left our teenagers in charge of unloading the car and raced over to the office.  The tech greeted us in the parking lot, helped keep the dog (and me!) calm, and when my husband mentioned that he hadn't even been to the bathroom since our return, she showed him to a nice grassy area out back.  Just kidding! They have a people restroom too!.  Dr. Thompson took over and decided that, yes, he needed surgery.  He patiently explained all the risks both during and after the procedure, and then went to work.  Hours later, at probably about 11pm, when he should have been home with his wife and kids, he called to let us know that things had gone well, and that our dog would be able to leave the next day.We brought him home the next day, but several complications that Dr. Thompson had warned us about came to fruition:  the anesthesia caused our dog's esophagus and stomach trouble, so that he was unable to keep food down; in addition, the skin that had peeled away had essentially died and was not healing well.  To make a long story short, Dr. Thompson and staff ended up having to board our dog in order to make sure he recuperated properly.  I was encouraged to visit often, and I got daily (and sometimes more) reports on his progress.  It was such a stressful situation for our family, but Dr. Thompson and his staff were SO patient, kind and knowledgeable that it really eased our minds!  Medical care is never cheap, even for pets, but Cedar Park Animal Clinic is very reasonable. We had another mishap while we were on another vacation...apparently our dogs don't like vacations....? Or thunderstorms...? and one of them (the SAME ONE..sigh) decided that having bloody diarrhea was the solution...? So, Dr. Thompson to the rescue again.  Our neighbors who were pet-sitting for us took the dogs to him, and he treated them until our return from two states away a week later. We are big fans and "Regulars" now because of our personal experiences with Dr. Thompson and his entire staff.  They are obviously animal lovers! Cedar Park Animal Clinic has been taking care of our pets for years.  Dr. Thompson did surgery to remove a tumor on Barely, our last dog years ago - and was a savior helping him get better.  We have had a new puppy, Chewie for a few years and we love going to CP Animal Clinic.  Dr. Thompson is the most patient doctor EVER- always thoroughly listens to us and thoroughly explains what he recommends and why.  There are not many doctors like him that truly listen and take time, as if we are the only patient he has that day - its amazing.  The office has gone out of their way several times to squeeze us in for every emergency a puppy creates - from being attacked by a racoon, to vomiting, to trying to get a last minute vaccination we need to go somewhere (oops!)  We usually see Dr. Thompson, but have seen Dr Douglas as well and he is also extremely competent. I was a bit hesitant at first about choosing this office due to some of the other reviews on here...especially from the person who had taken an adopted cat from Austin Pets Alive! since that is where we received our new addition to the family. Fortunately, I decided to go ahead and find out first hand about the office. From the moment I called to schedule the appointment to our arrival for the appointment, everyone at the office was wonderful. The office staff was extremely nice and  very welcoming! Love, love, love the vet assistant (sorry, I didn't catch her name!) & Dr. Neely. They were both very nurturing and caring with their handling of our cat. Dr. Neely took her time & checked out our cat very thoroughly. Our visit was free due to us adopting from APA! and we just paid a small fee for a test that was not included in the visit. On a side note, when I scheduled the appointment, I was notified that if an illness were to be found then the visit would no longer be free & there would be a $54 fee. So, if there were to be a charge, I was at least notified prior to going to the appointment.Anyway, this was our first visit here, but we will most definitely continue bringing our fur-baby here for her check ups and if there are any other issues in between visits. My cat is ill with a urinary blockage.  Sadly, he had this 2 yrs ago and was treated by this vet, and so I came back to where he was last successfully treated.  Made an appt in the morning for 3pm, got in early at 2:45 pm and wasn't seen by the doctor until 3:45.  :/ Sadly, something has changed here since last time, as the only thing it seemed these people cared about is how high can they get the bill, (this was so graciously explained by the nurse that prices have been raised due to the economy?!?!?! It almost seemed they were desperate for money to me.), and that they need half right now $400.00 and if they hold a check for 4 days they will need to charge us an additional 50.00, because the bank charges them to hold a check and that would be comparable to them extending credit to us!!!!!!!!!!!!! UN-BELIEVABLE  &%^$#$%^&!!!!!!!!!!!!! No, thanks.  Went immediately to a different hospital - we were seen right away, treated as if we were people - not dollar signs -, we were quoted 320.00, signed a "realistic" estimate and payment is not due until pick-up.  My cat is currently being treated as we speak.  The only bright spot (if there even was one) was the woman doctor we momentarily dealt with.  The nurse/assistant must be used to talking with idiots spouting off the "explanations" she was offering.  I would say she single handedly turned the whole thing sour on top of the 50.00 to hold a check. We WERE an established patient and to be treated as if we are trying to con someone out of services was quite offensive! I think the whole preying on people who are distraught with an ill pet is unconscionable and for that very reason I will NEVER, EVER be back.   I most certainly will make sure that evryone knows as well.  ** I also see another review was deducted a star for quoting a price and then having it be a higher amount at pick-up. If I remember right this is standard practice for this place!  Read the filtered review that states the very same thing I just discussed above.** Read Less

I have used this clinic for years since the late 90's but I will Never use them again , I took my shitzu in for grooming And when I dropped her off she was perfectly heathy When I picked her up she could barely breath they just let her suffer and it was extremely obvious she was suffering , and again she was fine when I dropped her off , I then had to demand the vet look at her and was informed she has a heart murmur , they held  her down so hard during her grooming  she had developed this issue , 11 years old never had and issue , she then died a few days later, I then had to Waite until 4 Pm Sunday And have her cremated and the office manager (Cindy)was extremely rude and demanded for me to pay in advance Again I have been going here for many years ..as if this was not bad enough a few days later I take my other pup in to have some issues taken care of ( sores on his feet ) I get a call later and this lady ( unknown vet ) says Oh he has sores on his feet and heart-worms ( what?!!) I was charged 140 dollars and no meds prescribed for the sores on his paws .. At this point I'm beyond angry So I demand to speak to Dr Thompson ( the owner) he calls me back two days later and he politely asked me to take my business somewhere else .. So I did the same day in fact . the new vet I found out my 13 year old pup did not have hear-worms and was given meds for his sores on his paws .. So I highly recommend if you care about your pets do not take them here .. Read Less

Read Less

My sweet cat died suddenly and tragically this morning.  I had no idea what to do and everyone at Cedar Park who I spoke to about cremation services was so helpful and kind.  I was too upset to get anyone's name (except the pretty little silky dog is called "Steve"), but both the ladies at the front were so sympathetic, and the lady who picked him up to take him away was so careful with him.  It made a huge difference to know I was leaving him with people who thought of him as a real, valuable individual.  Thank you so much. Sorry for the rant!Anyhow, that didn't happen here and in short I appreciate this clinic for offering a proper service, at an affordable price, plus all the bells and whistles! Read Less

We are beyond happy with the treatment here. Our dog, Shiner, has had lots of ear troubles and infections, which isn't unusual since he's a Coonhound. We've been going to a different vet, and they had not been treating the problem for a while now, they kept telling us to keep cleaning his ears out and it would go away. Well, 4 months later, it STILL hadn't gone away. We were tired of getting the run around, so we decided to go to CPAC and within 5 minutes we had an actual diagnosis and treatment. Less than a week later our sweet baby is already feeling a ton better! The shaking and scratching of his ears has stopped and he doesn't whimper when you touch his ears. We won't be taking our two babies anywhere else! THANK YOU Cedar Park Animal Clinic for your caring doctors and nurses! :) Read Less
