I've been to a few different vets looking to diagnose my pups problems and most just shrugged off the symptoms as nothing to worry about without actually taking the time to ask about prior history and taking more than just a glance at the issue. Went here to Hill Country Vet and the veterinarian went through a more extensive examination to find out what could have caused a change in health and behavior. My 10 year old pup had become a chronic scratcher. The vet made a diagnosis and less than a week later I'm already seeing improvements. It's good seeing him get a night's rest after these past 2 months of itching horror. Read Less

Called around to a few different Veterinarians in the area for pricing to "start from scratch" on my boyfriend's two rescue pups. Hill Country seemed to offer the best price, though still in the ballpark of most private veterinary offices. The receptionist was extremely kind and they were able to schedule us back to back appointments for our visits on a Saturday morning. The Saturday morning hours made taking them both to the vet at the same time a lot easier when we both could be there during the weekend. They had two toenail trims, two ear cleans and a full exam in less than an hour. The staff and Dr. Golden were all very kind and understanding. They did not push any "extras" on us and looked to provide us the best care and recommendations with the understanding that pet care can be expensive! We would be happy to recommend this office to any of our friends! Read Less

I have been going to Hill Country Vet Hospital for more than 20 years.  They have cared for my dogs over this period of time. We have been through cancer diagnosis, knee surgeries, hip dysplasia and various other things. The care has always been outstanding. They are  skilled surgeons, who did an incredible job on my lab who had severe issues with his legs from a young age. When we had a dog with cancer, then consulted with Texas A&M to come up with a diagnosis and plan to care for him. I highly recommend Hill Country Vet! Read Less

I've been going to HCVH for about 4 years. They are always prompt and polite. Love the location as well. Recently, I needed to come in quickly to have my cat checked, as she was experiencing a small litter box issue. I called, the said they have room immediately and I was in the door within 5 minutes after calling. They always love on my cat soo much when we come in. The exam rooms are clean and at this point, my cat's familiar with the staff and the visit so she almost has a good time there. The best part is that the cost for visits are never bank-breakers. For some reason, I always assumed that taking a cat to the vet would be a $500 ordeal, but that's never the case. So happy to have a nice local vet that we can trust for consistent care. Read Less

Five stars does not do this place justice! I was fortunate enough to become a client earlier this year and they diagnosed a problem with one of my dogs and prepared me for the inevitable with grace and understanding.  The inevitable day happened a couple weeks ago and we had to go to an emergency care due to the time of day. Even though Hill Country wasn't the vet involved with her euthanasia they actually sent my family and sympathy card that had a little note from everyone in the staff! I didn't even realize they knew we had lost her. It means so much that this place took time they didn't have to spend to write such a thoughtful note. I will never go anywhere else for my other 2 fur babies! Thanks for such a great relationship. Read Less

My client called on Monday to inform me a neighbor had called him at work.  His house had caught fire and there was severe damage to the home. I was glad to find out that no one was home at the time. Roscoe didn't make it.I was there with my customer and reminded him that we were going to be there a LONG time and made a suggestion he take care of his dog. Can you imagine the 100 things going through his mind as he's looking at what's left of his home?Hill County Vet came to his home and picked up Roscoe and said they would take care of him. What a wonderful place!! Excellent Customer service!! I took my dog here because it was close to my house and didnt know what to expect. The front desk person was very friendly and knowledgable. She handled herself well on a busy Saturday Morning with lots of animals in there. What I immediately noticed was this place was Not super pretentious. They were about good animal care in a welcoming atmosphere. I think I saw Dr. Badel. She was awesome too. She answered all if my questions and didnt rush me (and I had alot of questions!). They also didnt try to seel me a bunch of crap like other vets I've been to. Turns out that my dog needs several teeth pulled. I have gone to another vet before about this issue, so I expected it to be very pricy. When I walked out and got my estimate, it was half the price of the other vet and this one was removing 3 more teeth! Score! Very satisified and will continue to go back. Read Less

Ok, let me first start with Dr. Silvers is the best Veterinarian that we have ever had!  Period. We have a 12 year old yellow lab, Meadow, who has been a huge part of our family.  She is one of those dogs who is always happy, never shows any signs of illness, great with the kids, and just one of those dogs everyone comes to love.  In fact, people have adopted dogs because of Meadow and how amazing she is.  Well, after recently moving to Cedar Park from California, we noticed a change in Meadow's demeanor and in her physcial state.  She was panting heavily, sluggish, showing signs of pain, and most worrie some, a loss in weight.  We immediately took her to Dr. Silver at Hill Country Vet to get her checked out.Dr. Silver was so gentle and caring with both Meadow and our family.  Before conducting any tests, she walked us through all possible scenarios, potential diagnosis, and next steps.  She reviewed all costs with us before and her recommendations, which didn't coincide with costs.  Instead what was in the best interest of Meadow and our family.Unfortunately, the outcome was not a good, as Meadow was diagnosed with inoperable cancer in a glan above her kidney that was protuding into her artery.  Her life expectancy is TBD, but likely less than a few months.  As one can expect, this was devistating for my family.  To hear that our amazing dog, family member, and best friend only has a short time left, it was a lot to absorb.Long of the short.  Dr. Silvers broke the news the best anyone could.  she cried right along with us, not even knowing us, our history, or how awesome Meadow is.  She's called our house to check on us multiple times, and has really helped us to cope through this process.I'm am happy to say that Meadow is doing well for her diagnosis, but is is only a matter of time before her condition catches up with her.  for now, every day is a blessing and we are enjoying every waking moment we have with her.Thank you Dr. Silvers!!!!! I have been using this veterinarian and services for over 12 years now and this is the first time I have had issues. I have rescued 2 animals from the humane society, a dog and a cat. The dog had parvo when I got him and after 3 days stopped eating and drinking, and I took him here. They were great and treated him and after 3 days he was ready to return home full of energy. He is still with me and vigor as a pup still. I recently rescued a cat from the humane society and took him to the vet who treated him at that site the day before I took him here to just be bathed. I understand the concern with my cat because he had a wound on his back that had been shaved to provide a clear view of the wound. What I have issue with is the fact that all I took him in for was grooming and nothing more because he already had established care. The charged me 1/2 price for the doctor to examine him without contacting me that this was going to take place. The established vet has a policy that the first visit of a rescue is free. They informed me when I questioned the charge that he had to be seen by the doctor because he hasn't been seen here. This may be a policy, but it was not divulged prior to the exam. If they had informed me of this policy or called to authorize this additional charge I would have no problem. Additional charges must be authorized before services are rendered. Read Less

I took my dog in last summer. He was very old and had been in deteriorating health over the previous months. The staff checked him out and provided options. We could try several treatments, but they were very up front that the chances of treatment prolonging his life were not high. Also, they explained that his quality of life would probably not improve at all. He lived a good long life and the staff were very kind and patient while we made our decision. We spent as much time as possible with him. At every step, they stopped and checked in to make sure we were okay and clear on what was happening. It was very sad, but they made it bearable. Read Less

Once we met Dr Sandell, it was a Done Deal. 2 at a time, my Dachshunds, are becoming Dr. Sandell's Patients. Any Doctor can give a Shot, any Doctor can give Book terms and their defintions, and Any Doctor can claim to care. However, when it comes to Dr Sandell, She actually does care. My Vet's Practice has become one of those Incorporated Animal Hospitals. Not to any fault of Hers, but it sorta lost its "edge". So after 13 yrs, My Dachshunds and I, decided to look around for a New Vet. I raise Dachshunds. One of my Pet Parents recommended I talk to Her Vet. I went along on a Wellness Exam, just to check things out. Needless to say, I was VERY impressed. I think I'm an excellent judgement of character. Infact, I have turned down Families that has shown interest in one of My Doxies, after meeting them face to face. I'm very Selective on My Pet Parents, I'm even more so on their Care. In the 30 minute visit, Dr Sandel (hope I spelled her name correctly) displayed every attribute I was looking for in Our New Vet, and then some. I'm not going to bore you with All 100 of them but Dr Sandel batted a 1000! I'm looking forward to our many visits to Her Clinic. Although, I hope I never really Need Dr Sandel, I'll just feel comfortable knowing I can Trust Her. I do also want to make a comment, I have 2 little Boxes on my Mantel at home, the cost to have them cremated was almost double what Hill Country Quoted, so again, Kuddos to Hill Country. I am sorry for your Loss. In time, you will know you did the right thing, focus on the Good Times you shared with your Kitty. Peace, <'( );=====;~ Read Less

My wife and I have been taking our pets to this vet clinic for many years. I've found the vets Dr. Sandell and Dr. Golden to be competent and compassionate. While price is a less important concern than quality of care, I have not found their prices to be unreasonable for services compared to other clinics in the area. I am surprised to read some of the negative reviews of this clinic online but based upon my own experiences, I believe them to be the exception rather than the rule. Besides, when the primary complaint of many reviews is price over the care of an animal, I really have to question the person's desire to care for their pet over their desire to save money. Sure, price is one of many important consideration but I have not really experienced any prices here that I wouldn't expect to pay at any other quality vet clinic. If you don't want to pay to take good care for your pets, don't get them in the first place. Read Less

My mom was the proud owner of a little Maltese named Nala. Nala and mom enjoyed each other's company for nearly 16 years. The last few years Nala developed mammary cancer and she was taken to Hill Country Veterinary for treatment. My mom was satisfied with the care that was given to Nala during these difficult years. On the morning of November 2, 2009 my mom went downstairs for her coffee and heard Nala crying from the laundry room where she slept. Nala had lost the ability to use her back legs and was laying in a pol of urine. The cancer had spread and attacked her spine. I made the difficult phone call to Hill Country Veterinary to have Nala put out of her misery and be put to sleep. I explained the situation to the receptionist who informed me that they would not be able to see Nala until 3:00pm; it was 10:30am!! I explained the situation again, surely she misunderstood because who in their right mind would let a dog lay around in pain for hours. I again explained and again was told she could not be seen until 3:00pm. We ended up taking Nala to another Veterinary clinic who upon hearing my dilemma said ""Bring her immediately."" I've been taking my 8 year old Lab to Dr. Sandell at Hill Country Vet since he was less than a year old. For the first year I couldn't have been happier, (even though they charge more than most any vet in town.) They always knew my us by our names, and my dog was very comfortable on his visits. Now it seems as though you never see the same person twice when you visit. I was EXTREMELY disappointed and ended my relationship with them last month after paying $420 to have a hematoma surgically removed from my dog Sprocket's ear. The bandages weren't put on well, and kept coming off. EVERY time this happened I'd have to pay $30+ for them to put new bandages on. The follow up visits were $30+ instead of being included in the cost of the original fee. The deal breaker was when the hematoma IMMEDIATELY came back after the six week recovery time. THEY WERE GOING TO MAKE ME PAY FOR THE SAME SURGERY ALL OVER AGAIN. I took Sprocket to Dr. Woods, at Balcones Animal Clinic, as he was HIGHLY recommended by many friends and co-workers. He did the surgery for the hematoma for half the cost, charged NOTHING for the follow up visits, and promised that if it were to return there would be NO CHARGE. He also mentioned that he had never had one return. He always calls me personally to let me know Sprocket's status, and often offers home remedies at times when I can't afford much.

I naturally asked if he had a pet and he said he did, Roscoe was his name.

Read Less

My Dachshunds have had the same Vet for the past 13 yrs. However, that Clinic became a victim of Corporate America. I then decided to look for what I became very use to, a small clinic that would treat my Doxies as if They were the Only Clients, they had.... ( not TOO much to ask!)One of my Pup's, Pet Parents recommended Dr. Sandell. Although, 30 minutes from my Home, unlike the 5 min, I was use to Walking my Dogs to their appointments, I decided to give Dr Sandell a try. After only 3 minutes, I was Already impressed with what I saw. The Staff were very nice, and showed great Care toward my Doxies. She takes the time that shows this. Dr Sandell, You are the Bow-WOW of Vets! Doxies Rule!<'( );========;~ Read Less

We ended up taking Nala to another Veterinary clinic who upon hearing my dilemma said ""Bring her immediately."" I write this review for those of you that know the pain of having to put a beloved animal to sleep. Think twice about bringing your pet to a place that would treat someone this way. Read Less

I've been taking my 8 year old Lab to Dr. Think twice before taking your pet to Hill Country, and read Dr. Woods reviews!!! ~Chasity and Sprocket Read Less
