While we enjoyed the convenience of having a vet close by we're moving on. It has become apparent to us that this place likes to take advantage of people who do not have the medical knowledge to determine if what you're being charged for is necessary or if there are other options for medication or treatment. Luckily for me my wife knows better and armed me with enough information to make better choices. They push the most expensive medication first unless you know there's another option, and they add unnecessary shots to yearly examinations. They're friendly enough but their business practices and lack of communication skills to pet owners (in our experience) has led us to take our pets elsewhere. Read Less

I wouldn't recommend anyone take their fur-babies here. The staff was so SO strange and awkward. The biggest let down honestly, was we went there to check on our bulldogs skin and possibly find some alternatives/answers. The vet put our dog on an immune system blocker! She took two days worth of the Rx and came down with a fever. We should have done more research on it prior to giving it to her and that is our mistake. Why would the vet put a dog on a drug like that for skin irritation? On top of that, it is a known cancer causing drug. We've found our alternatives no thanks to this vet. Read Less

Dr. Kresser, and her entire staff are the best. They had seen my Yorkie Candi for her entire life of 13 years and always treated her with Love. When the time came for us to say goodbye to our beautiful baby they were so helpful, compassionate, and loving with not only our baby but with my husband and myself. I take both of my rescue dogs here for veterinary care. We are always treated well. It's an Island vet, so care is pricier than vets OTB, but we always are provided with an itemized bill before care is given. We used an OTB vet once and they said my puppy didn't have worms when I brought in a sample with the actual parasite visible. Dr. Kresser gave our puppy a mega dose of dewormer and he was cured by the next day. I only wish they would not take the animal to the back for things like weighing, etc. But my girl is always happy to go. Read Less

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this clinic. I started taking my dog Miles here almost a year ago, I also started taking my boyfriends dogs here too. When we found a stray on the beach, the clinic checked her for a micro chip, let me hang up flyers, and even contacted me about potential adoptees. When my dog ate four of her trifexis, the clinic took me in within the hour, made her feel better with charcoal, and even replaced the medication she ate, knowing how expensive it is. I called on Friday afternoon for two dogs who would be new patients and they had an opening Monday morning! I was expecting to wait a week or two like other places. I walked in and didn't have time to sit down, they called us back immediately! The facility was very clean and all the staff members were very nice and professional! The doctor did not push any extra services or try to get us to spend more money, which I really appreciate. Also, my dogs were over due for their annual shots and the staff did not guilt trip me or make me feel bad. I've been to other places that were rude to you if you were late on shots. And above all, they were very gentle, patient and loving towards my dogs! I walked out with a very reasonable bill and was very happy with the overall visit! I recently had a horrible experience with this Animal Hospital after they, and Connie Beane with Animal Friends of Port Aransas, tried to STEAL a rescue Pointer that we brought in to get shots and neutering. I found this loveable pointer running up the left lane of I-37 and saved his life that night in September. Luckily, I found the former owner and took ownership after she agreed to release the dog, to me. Connie befriended the lady, who helped me foster the dog, and convinced her to take him to Dr. Kresser's office. Apparently, Connie, called the former owner (after she got her info from his microchip) and lied to her, telling her that she found the Pointer running along the side of the road in Port Aransas. A COMPLETE LIE!!! In turn, Connie Beane got the former owner to sign over the rights and Connie would not give us any information about what was going on except that she was sending the dog to a rescue. The Vet clinic, and their manager Ray, would not cooperate at first. They kept giving us the run around and telling us we needed to speak with Connie Beane. After she blocked me on Facebook, I decided to try calling her Salon in Port A and she asked me to call her back in a few minutes. Shortly after, I received a call from the constable in Port A, asking me to stop harrasing Connie. No harassment ever occurred. This put us in a very bad place because we had found him a forever home and the dog was supposed to go to his forever home the very next day, but the Anim. Hospital and Manager Ray would not release him. The lady, who helped me foster the dog at the time, called me in tears because the clinic would not give her any info except that Connie was the new owner. I decided to give the former owner a call to find out the truth and found that Connie lied to her in order to get custody of the dog. I'm not sure what Connie's intentions were and why someone would be so evil and underhanded? Unfortunately, Ray, the manager, explained that I needed to pick up the dog, ASAP, before they released it to that Horrible individual, Connie Beane. His reasoning was that I was causing too many problems for everyone. I laughed at his reasoning since the Animal Hospital was directly involved with Connie Beane's thievery and deception, which is when all the problems started. Ultimately, I regained ownership the very next day and picked up the dog along with an EXAGGERATED invoice for services that we did not agree to have performed, including boarding fees. I paid them in order to get the dog out as quickly as possible. Luckily, the dog is now at his forever home, but I needed to get this story out to the public because these are not good people. Unfortunately, I don't know Dr. Kresser, but she needs to seriously reconsider the people she has running her business. And she seriously needs to cut ties with deceptive, corrupt persons like Connie Beane.Read Less

They were able to get us in immediately and did a fantastic job with the grooming. The groomer gave my dogs the precise haircut that I wanted. They were finished with the both of them within a few hours. When I picked my morkies up, they were happy and running around. Wish I could rate lower. The Vet in veterinary doctor us never there. My dog had surgery. They provudex/ charged for a cone that was too small. We asked for larger one and were told they didn't have. Had to spend more $$ on one at pet smart. Now we are 4 days post open and looks like the surgical site (left eye) is infected. Called to get care and it's Friday at noon. No Doc til Monday Morning. I was very impressed with the friendly staff, helpful vet techs, and the immediate level of trust I felt with the vet, Dr. Kresser. I brought in four pets yesterday who needed to be seen for various reasons, and the staff kicked it into high gear to ensure that each pet received personalized attention while I filled out the First Time Patient paperwork. I've boarded my 3 dogs at 3 different locations before giving Padre Island Animal Hospital a try, so I feel I have an adequate basis for comparison.   This was, without a doubt , the most frustrating experience I've had in many years.  My first contact was viewing their website.  I then spent several minutes on the phone to find out about their policies and facilities. After confirming my dogs were up to date with their vaccines, I said I would fax the records right over. It wasn't until the morning I was to leave on my trip that they called to inform me my dogs needed the flu vaccine, and I had to have them there by noon to have  it administered (this was a Thursday).  I could not rearrange my schedule to accommodate this, and they were unwilling to do anything - even stay til 12:30 - to make up for not telling me sooner. I found a vet that could give the vaccines (not all vets stock it), and then  dropped my dogs off at 1 pm.  In the process of doing this, the receptionist reviewed my dogs' records and said OTHER INFORMATION WAS NEEDED! Did I mention this was AFTER I'd left home, and way after the phone call about the flu vaccines? And I need to point out, none of the items they required were required at any other facility - not the influenza vaccine, the parasite screen or another one I can't remember, so I could not have been expected to know what they needed.I picked my dogs up on Sunday, during the 3-5 pm window they were open.  This was the period I had committed to and confirmed via fax: Thursday - Saturday night.  I chose to try this facility because that sounded convenient.   Not.  They charged me for 4 days, because the pick up was after noon on Sunday... even though they were only open from 3 to 5 pm! And this was a contradiction of what I was told when I made the reservation.During all this, my request to talk to the owner was refused.  I've never seen such poor communication coupled with the worst customer service imaginable.   If you have no choice in boarding your pets, good luck - maybe my experience will serve as fair warning.  If you have a choice - run like the wind from this place! They obviously know they are the only boarding facility on the island.P.S. The additional vaccines and unnecessary tests totaled $128. Plus the additional day I was charged for which I received nothing. Read Less

I've explored clinics and boarding options in Corpus Christi but none come close to the quality of service that you'll get here. If you're looking for a clinic or boarding location that genuinely cares for your pet's well-being in addition to having an extremely knowledgeable veterinarian on site, then there's no better place to go! The Animal Hospital of Padre Island was wonderful.  We moved to the island in Feb. '12 and needed to establish a vet for our 11 year old black lab.  Now Buddy was no ordinary lab, he was very protective and not that friendly.  Someone recommended the Animal Hospital so we gave it a shot. Buddy was developing some health issues and the  staff and Dr. Kresser were amazing.  They took great care of our big dog.  Unfortunately, we lost him in April.  Dr. Kresser and the entire staff showed us such compassion and helped us make a very difficult decision in the best interest of our big boy.  They even took an extra step and sent us a sympathy card with his paw print.  After we had lost him, I had wished we had taken an imprint of his paw or his snoot.  Then a few weeks down the road we got the sympathy card with Buddy's paw print.  It's still to soon for us to get another family member, but when the time is right and we do we will definitely be back to the Animal Hospital of Padre Island. This place is such a rip off, the first time we went to board them their, they charge us for a flee dip, said my dog had flees. My dog has never had flees and still to this day doesn't. We boarded him there. Then the next week we had to go out of town again and we checked that anything additional needed to be run threw us by phone. We went to pick him up and we were charged another flee dip, what the heck didn't they check him in front of me. They make extra money by charging for flees to board them. I ended up getting in an spat with them and they wouldn't give me my dog. I think since the guy was mad at me he took it out on my dog when taking him out of the kennel. Wasn't sure but I think my dog yelped . There is so many other places to go, why go here Read Less
