They truly care about animals. I took my female dog there to get fixed. She became very stressed as she normally does and was not getting enough oxygen in her blood. Her tongue was turning darker as time went on from the check in. They noticed it right off and had the Vet come in right then and there to check her out. She didn't get fixed because she needs extra care. I feel really good about this decision. They were not just out to make a buck! I've been taking my 2 year old Labrador to Baldwin Pet Clinic since he was a pup. I must say I am very satisfied with the staff. They are very helpful and informative to your questions. Their prices for vaccinations and visits are also very reasonable and fair. I have even called over the telephone to ask questions concerning my lab and they are quick to answer my questions without hesitation and confirmation that my pet is an actual patient there. I took several stray kittens to this place to get them medical attention because they didn't seem to be doing well but boy did I go to the wrong place. They either sent them home only to suffer another 2 days instead of just putting them to rest to stop their suffering or they killed them while treating them. After taking about 6 kittens or more to them that all died anyway you would think they would know what was killing all these stray kittens but nope they didn't know. All they could guess was the fleas were killing them. How come the fleas aren't killing all the other kittens out there that have fleas? I have 2 more kittens dying now and I'm waiting for a different vet to open to have them put to rest. I wish I had money to have these strays taken care of but I don't but with what little I have I try to feed them and take their kittens to try to save them and all I get is my money taken and dead kittens. If you need shots for your pet its probably a good place to take them but if they are sick you better take your pet elsewhere if u want it to live when u leave. Read Less

We are new to the area and aren't familiar with vets. Our neighbor recommended Baldwins to us and today we took our dogs there. We were forewarned the wait time can be long but it's worth it. I was a little hesitant about taking my dog to this place because we had a less than ideal experience with our cat about 15 years ago. This time was incredible! The staff is very friendly and patient with the animals and not enough good things can be said about both Dr. Moodys (brother and sister work at the clinic). My dog needed surgery and they were both extremely communicative throughout the whole process, explaining the procedure in detail and answering all questions with patience and understanding. Honestly this place is amazing. It's not fancy by any means but you can tell the staff loves animals. People are complaining about the wait but fail to recognize that these people are providing great services for a great price. I took my cat in because he had a blocked bladder and was very sick which is an emergency. They called me back in less than 20 minutes. If it's important they will see your pet asap. I went in expecting to pay hundreds but only paid about 200 for everything. My cat is happy and healthy thanks to this place. These people deserve a Nobel Prize. Read Less

Nothing bad to say about this clinic. They've always made me feel like I'm family. I've been going there since my first pet at child hood 40 yrs ago. I've also lost a few pets but none to blame anyone, God blessed me with them n things happen. Than I got another pet. They were extremely busy, but the staff did their best to expedite the process as much as possible.  Dr. King was amazingly compassionate and did a great job checking my dog.  The $16.50 visit fee is by far the most reasonable price in town.  I highly recommend this place if you have the patience to wait in line for a bit. I am so Heart broken. My sweet Baby Brinley died at this clinic (she was a 5 month old 5 pound shitzu) My boyfriend took her in Friday morning she was vomiting, had diarrhea and was not eating, they took X-rays, a stool sample and Dr King gave her a shot, sent her home with 3 medications (amoxicillan and two others) around 4 when I got home I noticed she was still not doing well so we called again (they said give the medication time to work, if she's still not better bring her in the morning) 8 am we woke up to our Baby vomiting yellow and almost not breathing.. my boyfriend rushed her to the clinic (I got there 5 minutes later) as I walked in a see my boyfriend waiting and I tell them... THIS IS AN EMERGENCY MY DOG IS NOT BREATHING... they still had us waiting (I had time to call another vet and make arrangements to be seen instantly) but finally they take us back ... Dr King look at her teeth... he did a few chest compressions then he asked the girl to get the oxygen (which he said was the wrong one) he Didn't even try to save her.... he said she's gone..... my Baby was still alive when we got there! Had they truly cared and kept her over night maybe she would still be here with us. MY BOYFRIEND WENT BACK TO TALK TO THEM after we sent her to get cremated and Dr Moody said he would not have gone things the way Dr King did.... THAT DOES NOT bring my baby back.. we spent money to figure out what was wrong with her and got no answers.. as we grieve over our precious Baby girl....we still have NO IDEA why she was sick or why she died! This place is extremely terrible. I went in to get my cat her rabies shot. They gave her another shot with the rabies so she had to be hooked up to liquids since she was not allowed to have that shot. They do not know how to treat cats kindly. Dr. Moody is absolutely fantastic and her staff is truly dedicated! They did a great job carefully treating my three kittens: Battie, Dulcie, and Oreo upper respiratory issues. Dr. Moody advised it was  contagious and my other 3 kittens would soon catch it as well, she gave me prescription medication for them without having me bringing them in & even gave me a discount only charged for one kitten exam rather than three. I have been going here for years. At least 20, probably more. This weekend the skinny girl with the multi-colored hair that thinks she is Cleopatra tells me she does not have to serve me. All because I had the audacity to tell her the chart was wrong. The other girl, who is much nicer, tells her no the dog has been tested there it is. So I walked out because Cleopatra and her attitude. So I call back and asked to see who the manager is during the week and was greeted with a we already called her and told her about you and what happened and we have witnesses. So evidently they are playing a game of cover their butts. I was going to call and talk to the manager but I believe it would be just a waist of time and I have the feeling Cleopatra has pulled this before on other customers. Well after more than 20 years of going here, I am done and off to another vet. Your milage may very. I can't even grasp what I did wrong for Cleo to have a reaction like that. HORRIBLE SERVICE TOOK MY FEMALE IN FOR A SCHEDULED CSECTION. WAS QUOTED 400 TO NO MORE THAN 850 AND THAT WAS IF IT WAS AN EMERGENCY. I HAD TO PRE PAY THE $850 UPFRONT. AFTER ALL SAID AND DONE THEY CHARGED ME THE FULL 850 WITH CHARGING THE EXACT SAME FOR CSECTION FEE AND FOR THE ANESTHESIA FEE. I CALLED TO DISCUSS THE CHARGES WITH THE VET AND SHE STUTTERED AND COULDNT EXPLAIN AND TOLD ME I NEEDED TO TALK TO THE OFFICE MANAGER AND HUNG UP ON ME. AFTER I GOT HOME AND NOTICED I WAS GIVEN ANY ANTIBIOTICS OR PAIN MEDICINE FOR MY MOMMA DOG I CALLED THE NEXT MORNING AND THEY WERE VERY RUDE AND TOLD ME TO CHANGE VETS AND THEY REFUSE TO HELP ME ANYMORE! What this place lacks in ambiance and decor, it makes up for in customer service, affordability and quality ten-fold! They offer THE lowest vet fee around and have some of the best doctors and assistants I've ever experienced. Everyone is a gem here! I've taken our dog, cat and newest rescue cat there recently for mange and a pressure sore abscess. They all went above and beyond to answer all my questions, love on our animals and get us in and out quickly. It is first come, first serve but I haven't had to wait more than 30 minutes at most so far. We're going to continue bringing our pets here for as long as we're in Corpus. This is a great clinic. Those who have complained must realize that this is a very high volume, walk-in, underpaid staff that take cuts in pay to help the people who cannot afford the high cost of other vets. Their cost is minimal and their time is stressed. So to go hunt files in another location will not be on their priority list with sick animals coming in droves. It is a shame some think they need attention above the sick animals but they should find a more expensive, polished vet clinic. For me, they are a Godsend to my animals, Where other vets clinics high cost let my animals suffer knowing I did not have a lot of money in the hundreds where this clinic is not robbing us blind. So the little inconveniences are justifiable. Thank God for this clinic. None compare to the cost, efficiency, and open 7 days a week, no appointment needed just come in. I have been going there with my pets since about 1996. You might encounter a long wait or you might not, it just depends. I started going there because they were open at the times I wasn't working, like weekends. I have found that the doctor really is very intelligent and highly experienced. He's seen about every problem a cat or dog can experience and his staff is very caring and experienced as well. They work mainly on a walk in basis. This means you will need to wait your turn. Personally I don't mind waiting because they may be taking care of an emergency situation. Also you won't find that this is a fancy clinic. If you or your pet like an updated decor, you might want to go elsewhere. ; ) If you need something reliable, reasonable, and experienced, this is your place.Read Less

We tried staying with this clinic for years despite the fact that it always stinks, they are usually understaffed to the point where they can't answer the phones properly, and that we have had some bad experiences such my cat having to get injected twice in one sitting because the person messed up the first time. But what finally did it was their refusal to take back an unopened box of heart worm pills that we didn't need. Maybe it was only 30-40 dollars, but their manner just doesn't sit well. I told them they were going to lose a client over it and they were just fine with it. I think we can find a friendlier place. Read Less

I completely recommend this clinic. My sheltie was attacked by an American Bulldog. After going to another clinic that wanted to charge me $700, I took him to Baldwin & Crosstown Clinic. I took my puppy in and found out he had parvo. They were very quick to reassure me that everything would be all right but my poor puppy has 6 days of misery ahead of him. They were very good about explaining everything to me and following up with me to make sure I knew how to give him his medicine and follow-up. I am hydrating my puppy with syringes of uflavored pedialyte and hope to avoid him having to be placed on an IV. I love they have a walk-in procedure, I had called around initially and no one would give me an appt as he was a "new patient". I called this vet and they told me to come right in. Do not go to this place! The people are very rude. I had an appointment for my dog. The staff does not acknowledge anyone who walks in the door. You can tell that the staff are not happy to be their either. I was not greeted or told that I had to sign in and their was no sign for it. The girl that was helping was extremely rude while helping me. She was also multitasking, answering phones which is fine but as i was watching her she was rolling her eyes while talking to the person on the phone, talking to herself as she was looking for patients files and kicking the cabinets to close them. When she was done she began to help me and began to tell me that i "had" to get a service that was not necessary at all but she kept saying no that i had to have it. I told her that i wanted to speak to the person in charge or the doctor and she said ok but that he wouldn't like that. I said that's fine i didn't care if he liked it or not. I spoke to the doctor and ask why my pet had to get this service if he was already up to date on his shots and heart worm preventative, the doctor explained but said I didn't have to get it. But he was very unprofessional about it. I continued to talk to the doctor about the girl that was helping me telling him that she was very rude and she had said she "didn't care" after the doctor told me i didn't need the service for my dog, he just walked away from me as i was trying to talk to him. I took a sick cat there and was very happy with the service. Also, the vet I saw seemed to have common sense along with his education.
