My bulldog and best friend was in need of major surgery on inverted tail. I had took him to many other clinics intown and was turned away. I felt hopeless. I took him to Doddridge Animal Clinic. Good clinical skills. But they did build up pricing. Charging for more units of time than actual. Maybe to make the price match what they thought it was worth. I also objected to the general anesthetic. They prevailed. But Daisy was stitched and walking to the truck before it even started to kick in. A local would have been more appropriate. This was my first time going to Doddridge Animal Clinic. I thought I'd try it out since i used to go to Baldwin Animal Clinic as walk-ins. It was very easy to schedule an appointment online with someone from the live chat on their website. Me and my pug were very nervous at first. We walked in and got welcomed by the staff at the desk. Filled out one sheet of basic information and that was it. They also have a small area outside where your pet can do their business (if needed) with a trash can and small bags. We were seen at our scheduled appointment at 10:20 am. They have a nice waiting area, and small private rooms for you while with the doctor. Everyone was very nice there from the front desk staff to the vet assistant to the DVM Colleen Beasom. She really took the time and explained everything that was happening with my pups eyes. We are going back for a check up tomorrow. These people have a big heart for animals. I highly recommend. Read Less

The Doddridge Animal Clinic staff and Doctors are the best!A few days ago, both of my dog's got sick and had been throwing up nonstop for over 24 hours. They couldn't even keep down water.  I called Doddridge Anand Clinic and was given an appointment for 30 minutes later. Colleen, the doctor, unexplained the costs of the tests she needed to run so I wouldn't be surprised. One of my  dog's was extremely dehydrated and had IV fluid injected under his skin. Both of them needed anti-naseua injections and antibiotics. I had given my dog's treats made in China and that was the only change in their normally excellent diet so I  was very scared.  It's been three days and my  fur babies are feeling better. This place was a mess - and not due to their construction. Phone receptionist upon initial appointment was short and rushed, walking into their waiting room was terrifying as it was only about 100 sqft - perhaps its different now - but that was too close for comfort with other dogs and cats waiting. When the visit started, there wasn't an exam room to go into, just a back area, no one talked us through what to expect, they just went straight into vaccines and were bothered when I started asking questions. Scared for the safety of one of our dogs, I took him to Doddridge the morning after he randomly lost control of all his legs (Sat, April 29). The doctor examined him, slowly running her fingers down his back and said it was clearly a bulged disc near the middle of the spin. I asked if she needed to take x-rays.She said no and prescribed a muscle relaxer and steroid, saying he should be able to walk again in a few days. Sadly, I trusted her. Our dog, Job, only got worse!! So, Monday AM (May 1) I rushed him to his regular vet in San Marcos. They gave him a pain medication and said they weren't going to waste my time - he needed to immediately admitted into an emergency hospital. The doctor at Doddridge was SO WRONG. Our dog needed spinal surgery for TWO discs (not in his lower back) but his neck! Even the spinal surgeon said that the fact that he wasn't able to control ANY of his legs should have been a sign that the bulged disc(s) was in his neck. Pills weren't going to solve anything nor the wasted steroid shot the doctor from Doddridge placed in his lower back! Our dog was hospitalized for a week. We JUST got him back yesterday and he will have to undergo months of therapy to walk again. I regret ever taking him to Doddridge! Wish they'd give me my $116 back so we can put it toward the thousands we just spent for his surgery. WHAT A WASTE! Read Less

The staff is friendly, the place is clean. the building itself is a little run down but they always provide quality care. First time I used them for boarding. I have a German Shepherd Service dog that I am very funny about leaving him at places I don't know. Found Doddridge on the internet and the reviews put my mind at ease. The staff is awesome and My baby was well cared for. LOVE this place! It is the only place I have ever taken my baby & it is the only place I ever will take him. They are the only place I know that doesn't require your cat be in a carrier which is great for me because mine just throws the biggest fit & is traumatized from them. Prices are amazing! They have the best referral plan I've ever heard of. I have referred everyone I know to them! My fur baby hadn't been to the vet in a while but he was due for annual shot & this time he was in a mood & was not having it! He swiped at the vet (sorry about that) but they were very patient with him. The only thing is that the vets usually don't introduce themselves so I don't know their names. I have taken my dog to a few different vet's offices in town and I have found Dr. Rasco and his staff to be the best. Fortunately I also always leave feeling like my bill was very reasonable as well, compared to other offices. Other offices try to sell you a bunch of excessive (and seemingly irrelevant) tests to give your pet, but dr. Rasco never does that. I have been going to Dodderidge for almost a year now and had been very happy with my experience with them. The vet has been very nice and has tried to take care of my pets as best as she can. I thought this was a great business. Yesterday, I realized how wrong I was. I witnessed a small, fluffy white dog get hit by a car on Staples yesterday. The dogs face had been smashed and Im pretty certain his back was broken as he could not move. He was covered in blood, gasping for air, and screaming in pain. It was painfully evident that he had no chance of surviving his injuries and was doomed to endure a slow, painful death unless someone helped him. I rushed him to Dodderidge as it was the nearest vet and told the receptionist I had a dog in my car that needed to be euthanized because his neck had been broken and was suffering. I told her I had no problem paying the cost of the procedure, but it needed to be done immediately as every second that passed was one more unnecessary second the dog had to suffer. She disappeared to the back to tell the vet what was going on. (I do not know which vet it was.) Several long minutes later she returned to say the vet would not euthanize this poor dog because I wasnt the owner and the vet didnt want to get in trouble for putting the dog down. If it had been my child on the road suffering, writhing and screaming in pain, I would want him put out of his misery immediately. We all would. I didnt have time to argue. I rushed the dog to Oso Emergency who immediately took the dog from me and saw to his needs. I understand there are laws about when a vet can or cannot treat an animal. However, not only did the vet refuse to help ease the dogs suffering, they wouldnt even come out to asses him or offer any kind of guidance. It took me thirty minutes to get the pitiful little boy to Oso. Those were thirty excruciating minutes of torture for that dog. (And for me as well as I had to listen to him screaming in my back seat the entire drive.) Any vet that would allow a dog to suffer in anguish for any amount of time because they were more worried about getting sued than they were about the dog is a vet that I dont ever want touching any of my animals. Te'a has been a patient at DAC since she was a puppy. She turned 9 years old in Dec 2014. She has always been seen by Dr. Rasco primarily. However, she has seen the others doctors from time to time as well. I took her in for a teeth cleaning (her first) and testing showed her liver function needed some attention (supplements for 30 days).
