These people are totally useless. My wife and I work in Alice. Our dog was injured by a car while we were at work. My teenage kids rushed our dog over to try and get him some help. They were completely rejected by these people. They were more concerned about payment than the suffering our dog was undergoing. All they had to do was call us to make arrangements. I drive from Alice to Annaville to bring my dogs here! They are just that amazing!! The office is really clean, the staff is super sweet! My doggy even made a "mess" at one of our first visits and the staff just casually said "no worries, we'll take care of it!" My dog does not go to this veterinarian: The other day I went in this veterinary hospital to leave a flyer for my lost dog, the vet herself and the receptionist were very helpful on informing me of many different ways to find my sweet dog. I really could tell that they cared about animals. If my sweet boy wasn't already used to his vet of four years I would definitely switch him over to this facility. I have been on the fence about writing a review for a few weeks now, but since I lost my 7 1/2 year chocolate lab I feel that I should warn others. I took him to this vet, (and yes, we had to give him a little sedative because he isn't fond of males) I explained in detail EVERY single symptom he was having not only once BUT numerous times. On the phone when making the appointment, to the vet tech all thro the exam and again right before leaving the exam room. Was told that a complete blood work (which cost almost 500 dollars) was his (Dr. Hoak, and yes he never came into the exam room what so ever) best choice. I went with that. Came back a couple days later and was told he had a low thyroid. Ok, I suspected that, but did they not hear anything I was saying thro out the exam? Well, I went with his prognosis for about a week and my dog was getting worse. I went to a different vet to get a second opinion. Had to sedate my poor boy once again. And once again explained in FULL detail what he was doing. He asked if the other vet did a heart worms test. I said I'm guessing since he did a full blood work up and everyone knows that's like one of the biggest death causes in dogs. Well guess what? They didn't!!! They didn't do a 30 dollar test but did a lot of others that added up to roughly 477 and change!!! I'm beyond a loss for words right now. And I don't know if a couple weeks did anything, but I will never know if maybe we would of caught it sooner, that my best friend would still be alive or not.Read Less

extremely dissatisfied with this vet. The vet techs are awesome but the vet is a quack. Took an abandoned kitten to this vet and he said she was suffering from low blood sugar and prescribed some medicine that did nothing. The kitten died. Second encounter I took my 7 year old lab in for examination. $500.00 later he is getting worse. But my last encounter takes the cake. My wife took our other cat in today to get spayed. We were quoted a price of $50.00. when the procedure was done my wife was handed a bill for $93.00. Ok why so much more. The vet said our cat was pregnant. Our cat has never been outside. The only other cat in the house has been neutered. So there is absolutely no possible way she was pregnant. Then he tried to say she was in heat. No she wasn't. He prescribes medicine that doesn't do any good. And he can't tell if a female cat is pregnant. i don't know where Dr Hoak got his license but it needs revoked. I will never bring my pets here again and will spread the word to everyone that asks not to take them here. He is also very rude. Read Less

I will never go to this place again. I took my cat here and told them not to do anything with my cat ontil they call me to consult with me on what there going to do with him, well they did not and decided to do everything with him and give him shots and antibiotics and who knows what and they charge me up with a big bill. She told me it would be approximately $45 per cat for those services to be done. Well when I went to pick up my cats the lady at the counter (same one as before) told me my total would be $159. When I asked why it was so high she informed me that they gave my cats all of the vaccinations they had to offer. I told her that I only asked for the neuter and rabies when I set the appointment. She did not offer to come up with some type of solution to the issue whatsoever. The only thing she could say was "well it looks like someone modified the account". I will never visit this institution ever again and I hope other people don't take their animals here to get ripped off as well. All they want is your money.Read Less

I had surgery scheduled for my puupys broken leg, a time sensative surgery, for a Monday morning with a price quote and all. 2 days before surgery the doctor calls me and says hes going out town and i need to find someone else to do the surgery. All he could do was recommend someone else and that surgeon wanted twice as much for the same surgery. They made no attempt in helping me find another surgeon with comprable prices or availability. I has just gotten a puppy who was very ill, Dr. Hoke said that it was just a cold and that she would be fine. Later that night my puppy was barley breathing and was very lethargic. Took her to Oso Creek to find out she has parvo. Dr. Hoke did not once think to do a parvo test on her. I ended up paying a good 200 for his visit plus another almost 500 dollars at Oso Creek to treat her for Parvo. I could have lost my puppy and I am very unhappy with this clinic. Read Less

My female pug mix has been spayed here. They are good with the animals. And Dr. Brad is very caring and checks them over very well. However, the prices are a little high but i do like my animals to be cared for. I did have a boy pug with an eye problem and Mr. Hoke did try to help and he did a good job however i still had to seek a second opinion, in which, i got a completely different explanation. And had i went to the other place sooner i would had been able to get my dog to the specialist. But other than that i liked this place.Read Less

Dr. Brad is easy to talk to, friendly, takes his time and answers all my questions without hesitation. He involves my children and sometimes he throws in a little lesson. My dogs and cat are very comfortable with him and his staff. We have also used the boarding services. The boarding staff is friendly. I have not had any issues with Nueces Veterinary Hospital. They have always been very nice and treated my babies well. Both of my dogs have had procedures done here, and they were both successful and without complications. They are a little high on price, but as long as my babies are taken care of and I can continue to afford it, I will continue to take them here. I also like the fact that they allow you to drop off in the am and pick up in the pm, and they are open on Saturday to accommodate working families or emergencies. Read Less

The staff has always served my two dogs with professionalism and kindness for their routine visits. Recently my husband and I were dog sitting for our sons lab. We live on the lake and some how Scarlett was injured running through some brush. She had a large open wound and needed emergency care. We were told to bring her in and we were seen promptly. Scaret was a nervous reck and needed about 8 staples. The Dr. Hoke and the staff were so good with her. One of the things I like best is that the following day, they called to check on Scarlett. Don't take your pets here, I REPEAT DONT! If I could no star them I would! My cousin took her beautiful blue heeler here, causing her to her death! I recently took my dog here, and he ended up with a horrible, and serious wound! Took him to another vet where they are treating him, and he is healing. If you love your pet, don't go here.
