AT NO TIME SHE TOLD THAT WHEN YOU GET THERE YOU SUPPOSED TO CALL TO BE PUT ON A LIST SO I WAS THERE FROM 1:20 TO ALMOST 3:00 WASHING PEOPLE COME AND GO UNTIL I CALL TO FIND OUT THAT I HAVE TO BE PUT ON A LIST. THEN THEY COME GET MY CAT AND ABOUT 25 MINUTES LATER I GET A CALL FROM SOME INCOMPETENT VET IF YOU CAN CALL HIM THAT , TO ASK ME IF MY CAT WAS A FERAL CAT BECAUSE HE COULDN'T CONTROL A SMALL CAT. HE SAID HE COULDN'T DIAGNOSE HIM BECAUSE HE COULDN'T CONTROL HIM. THEN I TOOK MY CAT TO NUECES VETERINARY HOSPITAL AND THE DOCTOR AND THE PERSONNEL THERE WERE VERY KIND AND COMPASSIONATE ABOUT MY ANIMAL AND ME. I WAS IN AND OUT WITHIN 25 MINUTES. I don’t even want to give this a star. DO NOT bring your dog in to see Dr. Willis if you don’t know what’s wrong with your dog!! I spent over $300 on my dog and her problem is even worse PLUS an eye infection! I wait there for over an hour to ask him why it’s gotten worse and he refers me to another vet clinic because he can’t handle my “aggressive” dog (she’s a daushand/lab) even though he’s a vet!!!! That’s your job!!! And he said “he doesn’t have the best x-ray machines there”. Well you have an x-ray machine don’t you?? You use it on the other dogs??? Why not my dog??? There’s GREEN gunk coming out of my dogs eye and he says it’s just sleep dust that you get in the mornings. It’s huge amounts of green gunk!! She’s never had that in her whole life!!! DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT go to Dr. Willis!!!!!!! You will waste your time and money!!!! Plus he talks to you like your an idiot! I don’t know if he was having a bad day or what, but he was very unprofessional talking down to me Read Less

Riverside is an excellent veterinary service! 🐕 Even though the wait can sometimes be long (as with any walk-in clinic), it is absolutely worth it to receive this level of care. The two vets and their tech assistants are friendly, helpful, and efficient, and even on their busiest days I have never felt rushed. Once you are in the treatment room, your pet is their primary concern, and you have the doctor's full attention. Both vets always take time to befriend my dogs, answer ...any questions, and ask me their own questions in order to best diagnose the situation. 😊 The Riverside staff will never know how much it means to me that they showed such compassion and professionalism to my first dog, even though he was fear-aggressive; poor Chester had to be muzzled for each visit, and would tremble with growls as I held him for his vaccinations and exams. When he passed away, the clinic sent a beautiful sympathy card. 💙 My two current dogs would like to thank Dr. Willis and Dr. Posey for fantastic care! 🐶 Dr. Willis helped each of my babies through a difficult bout of giardia, which they had brought home from their time at a rescue shelter. Dr. Posey recently performed a challenging surgery on my Hoxton's paw. (And even though the scheduled surgery day was a busy one, full of emergencies, he stayed late to operate on my pup, and to let me know the procedure was successful! My boy's paw healed perfectly and he is happy and well. 🙂) Pawsome vets, and much appreciated by their patients!! See More Read Less

I accidentally found this place when I was looking for a second opinion with my 7 1/2 year old chocolate lab. The best "accident" by far! Even tho we had to put my dog down, these people went over and beyond helping. For one, my dog usually needs a sedative when going to a vet, not this place. My mom had to take him since I couldn't get off in time before the cut off of seeing patients. When I got there a male vet tech was on the floor with my babies head in his lap!!! Unbelievable! even with them being so busy and patients lined up out the front door still (and this was 5pm) the vet took his time explaining in full detail and answering any questions we threw his way! I wish I would of found this place sooner and maybe then my baby would still be with us. But hands down, the best I have ever went to! Thank you everyone for making us feel welcomed and doing all you could for Whiskey! Read Less

I'm very glad that my dog was seen by Dr.Lloyd Willis of the Riverside Animal Clinic in Calallen. It is a walk in clinic. The way they put clients in a line is a bit confusing. Also, they accept some clients through some other door which is not in lobby but can be seen from it. I still give five stars for the clinic because the doctor after examining my dog gave reasonable explanation of the symptoms and suggested reasonable treatment. The prices are great and also quite reasonable. We even got medication right away! Maybe the clinic itself looks very simple and needs some improvements but the people working there provide the most valuable service I€ve seen in a long time. So, you've got my five stars. Read Less

I took my Boxer Kookie in after her being sick for almost a week knowing she had all the signs of Parvo. And when I arrived I was treated with respect and was allowed to wait in my truck with her while waiting for a room. She was very weak been throwing up and passing blood through her bowels. The staff was awesome they ran some test and it came back that she was positive with parvo. Dr Possy was wonderful he let me know her chances and what he was able to offer he told me that she had a 50/50 chance of making it if I continued home treatment but a higher chance of making it if I let them keep her for a few days. I was worried the cost was more then I would be able to afford he came back with a breakdown of what it would cost to treat her at home and how much it was to keep her there I was in shock his in patient price was so reasonable I decided to let her stay I picked her up the following Saturday. Although she is still sick I believe she is getting better everyday. Thank you so much for the good care and affordable cost.Read Less

Usually I go and I don't have a problem. Mind you that was 7 months ago. I know what I have... a dog that could use a little obedience training. Well, my dog was doing well considering there were so many dogs. He went in and got complimented on how good he was when asked to get on the scale. Then I put him on the table and he was sitting like a good boy. Then the vet came in (the younger one). Looking a hot mess.... looked hungover, his shirt and pants were full of wrinkles, and overall just tired. He came in asked if I had any problems then proceeded to give my dog his shots. No nurturing talk no treats.... nothing. Hercules at this point was doing ok.... freaking out a little on the second shot but overall I was pleased. The vet seem frustrated yet he recommended a heart worm test. I said if you think so.... not knowing what the process entailed. He didn't explain anything before it was done. Well, at this point my baby was NOT having it. They muzzled him, but he was still moving around violently. Completely, freaking out and he still tried to draw blood. Needless to say it didn't end well. Hercules urinated on the assistant helping and he still tried. I refused the test and he stormed out. I have had my pup on heart guard since I got him at 8 weeks. I think he will be fine. He was highly unprofessional and unnurturing. I will not be taking my baby there anymore.Read Less

All I needed was a regular checkup for my 8 week old puppy. The vet told me she was too young for heartworm prevention and he told me she looked great. They also don't affiliate with online pharmacies. They ended up giving me a complimentary flea tablet which I regret giving her because Nexgard has so many troublesome reviews. I left dissatisfied. So I booked another appointment at different vet because they would prescribe me heartworm meds she needed, as well as fax it to an online pharmacy. It's more convenient and affordable with an online pet pharmacy. The new vet also ended up treating my puppy for a ear infection. Overall, worthless first checkup with riverside vet. Read Less

the only drawback is the waiting really -- it's not a fancy place but the vet was recommended by my vet back home before we moved, and I have been pleased.  I learned the hard way people come in and sign in , then leave for hours and return.  I waited for 3 plus hours one day - thankfully it was nice and me and the dog sat outside and enjoyed the sun and the breeze.  Just recently saw the area out back - and we're going to sit out there next time. Have been with one seriously sick dog - that they referred me to the specialist in San Antonio ---- they were honest he needed care they could not provide - and a week later he was able to come home from SA.   Seems reasonably priced -- you can't go wrong for basic vet services - staff is nice but you can tell busy.  Been there with other dogs - we have 6.   Had a dog euthanized there as well, very sympathetic and caring with that as well. I arrived in town for a move-in with a seriously freaked out cat who hid in a crawl space between my headboard & bed at the hotel & wouldn't come out for roughly 24 hours until I dragged him out & eliminated the crawl space. He then hid anyplace he could. He had gone about 36 hours without eating or drinking and I had already tried a feliway phermone diffuser with no results. At that point, I figured I had a serious problem (potential feline hepatic lipidosis) and called the vet in town with the highest yelp evals. I wish I could give this place ZERO stars, but that is not an option. I called right as they opened to try and get an appointment, but they don't give those. They are strictly "walk-in". I tried to get some idea when my cat might be seen, but the practice was evasive and they said "fair" when I asked how busy they were. So, I crammed my freaked out cat in a carrier and went there. The waiting room impressed me as a twilight zone version of hell. It was about the size of two broom closets with only two waiting rooms adjoining. It took the receptionist about 20 minutes to even ask me who I was or what my pet's name was (they never got to his problem). I then sat there another 25 minutes with nobody being called back to the waiting room. During that time, a woman's dog kept on pressing his nose against the side of my cat's carrier and slobbering over it & she got belligerent when I asked her to restrain her dog. Extrapolating that situation & knowing I had a directv appointment to get set up at my new place some time between 12PM and 4PM, I got up & left. This may be an ok practice for the great unwashed who have pets like that lady's dog with itchy faces if the owners are unemployed, have no place to go or work sporadically for minimum wage. I got depressed just being there for 45 minutes. Feline hepatic lipidosis kills. So now you had a freaked out pet and a freaked out owner. I called up another practice in town and got an appointment in an hour. Read Less

I have to say my experience with Riverside hasn't lived up to my expectations considering the other reviews on here. I took my dog in for stitching up a huge gash in his shoulder and they really dropped the ball on getting it stitched in a timely manner. He wasn't stitched until late the next day, the communication was non-existent (unless I initiated it, even though they assured me they would let me know what was going on with him).  As a result, he didn't heal very well due to tissue death around the wound (which they knew would be a problem, cause they told me they trimmed the edges of the wound hoping for better adhesion).  If they couldn't attend to him that day, they should have let me know so I could have taken him somewhere where they could.  And as far as price goes, I paid $370 for that stitch job (and a heartworm test), which I feel is WAY overpriced. I don't know that I would go back. Read Less

Read Less
