So I recently moved to the area and was in need of a vet nearby for my buddy. He really needed his nails cut, and he has dark nails, so I am really apprehensive about cutting them at home, because it's easy to cut in the wrong place. I saw this deal for a free nail trim with check-in on Yelp, so I thought it would be a good opportunity for us to go check the place out and see if it would be a good vet home for us. The office staff was friendly enough, but seemed to get a little weird when I presented the check in deal for a free trim and they said they had never heard of it, but they went ahead and did it for us anyway. So I was a little unsure after that experience. Our next interaction with them was redeeming, however. Chacho was not acting right. He was very clingy, sat down in one spot and would not move. He was also shaking. He had stomach problems before, so I thought it was that acting up again. After a day of this, I took him to CityVet to be checked. I was worried sick that his stomach problems were back. He has two tiny pieces of wire in his liver previously shown on imaging, so I thought maybe they had migrated or he was hemorrhaging or something. I dropped him in the morning first thing after they opened, after I had just worked a night shift. I told the front desk lady that I was really worried about the cost of treatment, because I had been unemployed, I had lost my job on Thanksgiving and was unemployed from Thanksgiving to Christmas. She was understanding. Even though after I paid the bill, I had $4 left in my bank account, I didn't care because he is my best friend. They could have refused care, because Vets don't have obligation to treat, and often require payment upfront or just turn you away if you say you can't pay now, but they didn't, they evaluated and treated him. Turns out he had actually hurt his back. He had pulled a muscle from jumping up and down fron my new high bed. The vet left a voicemail letting me know the update. I was really relieved that it wasn't something more serious. And I was glad for their diagnostic astuteness, because I was way off in what I thought was happening and he was just acting so sick. I had actually fallen asleep since I had just start a new job working nights and had to be back at work that night, and the clinic was fine with him staying there for a few hours until I came to pick him up right after I woke up and heard the message. The doc sent him home with doggie anti-inflammatory, soft food, and instructions for strict bed rest. CityVet, you guys could have been dicks, but you were not. Thank you for helping us out when we were down. We are impressed. Read Less
