We love this vet location and feel safe bringing our pup here. Dr. Bryant is great and came recommended by a friend but everyone we have encountered there has been great! The facility is clean and there is a nice indoor lounge area and fenced in outside area while you wait for your appointment to begin. City Vet also allows us to drop off our dog if we don’t have an appointment or if we are too busy to walk in and wait. Read Less

Satisfied with my experience. I had a kitten follow me home. After determining she was a stray, I needed to get her medical history in order. I chose cityVet because of their location. My kitten received her first round of shots and has since been spayed. It is a lot upfront but I got her an annual plan that covered these services and booster shots. Everything has been transparent and I trust the vets I have personally dealt with. The convenience and service make cityVet a good choice for me. Read Less

They actually give you honest answers to your questions, even if it means saying "oh that's nothing to worry about, don't spend your money on a test." Everyone there, from doctors to vet techs to receptionists, all seem to genuine care about my dogs and their well being. I highly recommend this place, and I recommend joining their loyalty program! This City-Vet location seems to have very competent veterinarians. The administrative staff are also capable. This place is not cheap, so don't go here expecting anything to be done at a low rate. The work is of good quality but you definitely pay a premium price for it. This location also seems a little over booked. It can get a little hectic and sometimes appears like the building is bulging at the seems. You definitely want to have an appointment when you visit, and I might be a little hesitant to bring an emergency here. Though, I suspect that they would prioritize that situation. Overall, I'll definitely continue to take my dogs here. I feel like the treatment is always at least satisfactory, if not stellar. Read Less

**UPDATE**I still haven't been contacted by the clinic for apology or reimbursement of fees for quarantining my poor baby for what was their own fault!!! They didn't listen to instructions and they obviously don't care! Do not let Dr.Neese see your dog...ESPECIALLY if your baby doesn't like nail trims or is scared of the vet. SHE WILL REPORT a bite...even if it's from ur tiny baby...I can't imagine if you have a big baby.First and foremost let me say that I've had wonderful experiences here with Junna and Dr. Effie Giannopoulos! They are both kind and extremely professional and have always handled my babies with the utmost care.  However I cannot say the same about the rest of the staff! I was there this past Saturday (7/8/17) for a standard nail trim for my small French Bulldog who NEVER shows signs of aggression and is VERY SUBMISSIVE and when I arrived the girl at the front desk asked for my name and pets name..all very standard. Then she proceeds to ask for payment (14.07) and has a vet tech come pick up Leroy. As she comes to pick him up I relay to her he may need to be muzzled and she hardly acknowledges me and walks away.10-15 minutes later the vet tech is carrying Leroy and asks what his name is and I say "Leroy." A moment later Dr. Neese (whom I had only just met in this moment) steps out and says "he broke skin and needs to be quarantined if not up to date on vaccs." Okay...isn't it protocol for that to be a concern before I'm actually charged for the service and the procedure being done? Isn't it also protocol to muzzle if I've asked you to? So aside from breaking protocol we've got a case of negligence as well.I guess not! So I continue to say "I assume so as you guys proceeded to clip his nails." So they look him up AGAIN and tell me hes past due and in this moment I'm confused and wondering what happens next. So I tell them to allow me time to call my boyfriend who has had our dog in another city to see if hes vaccinated him there...mind you no one is talking to me or helping resolve the situation.I say to the front desk I can't get in contact with anyone and she says have a good day. So I'm driving back home (45 minutes away) and as I arrive I get a phone call from Dallas Animal Services saying they need to pick up my dog...NO ONE TOLD ME THIS WOULD HAPPEN! How on earth can I trust a caregiver and assume they know what they are doing to just have them have my dog taken away by the city?! Now I'm dealing with all this and getting zero help from the facility who put him in this position to begin with. ALWAYS ASK IF  YOUR DOG IS UP TO DATE!IF DR NEESE SEES YOUR DOG AND IT BITES HER YOUR DOG WILL BE QUARANTINED!I've never dealt with such an awful experience especially just after ( just under 3 weeks) I had to put my older dog to sleep at the same facility because of a spleen tumor. Now I've had to quarantine my dog which is costing me $98 and I don't get to see him for 8 days. All this because of a continuation of breaking protocol.  I have to mention also that the new clinic manager, Debra, was being helpful, that is until my boyfriend tells me that shes giving him opposing information she gave me. She tells him IT ISN'T PROTOCOL to ask for vaccines...we all know this isn't the case, as I called a City Vet clinic to make sure that was the case and they asked me for vaccine records before I am to make an appointment for my pet to get his nails clipped.  I'm tired of the lies and negligence from this facility and its staff...its awful that a clinic staffed to what seems the brim...I can only trust 2 people?!   So if you read this...know two thingsNEGLIGENCE & BROKEN PROTOCOL when it comes to Dr. Neese and Debra (clinic manager) Read Less

This is the THIRD time my appointment has been moved with no call or update from CityVet Uptown! The staff is nice, but I'm so frustrated with their lack of communication and professionalism. I cannot express how much I love this place. After a really horrible experience at another vet clinic, this place swooped in and stole the show for me. My poor dog has been having issues with a tooth (I won't get into the gross details) but needless to say, the staff here have been super helpful, willing to answer all my questions (even over the phone) and the prices are better than the other clinic I was at.My dog can be leash aggressive and the moment they saw that and how I stressed she and I both were in the lobby, they offered to take me to an exam room, which is something my other vet clinic didn't do. The front desk staff is always helpful and they are very knowledgable and when they don't know something, they have no issue asking someone else and they don't act like it's a waste of their time or that you're a burden! Let me preface this by saying that I use CityVet whiterock and uptown for both my dog and cat and have never had an issue. We board them and use them for vet services often. In fact WR has been very sweet to my animals. Anyway, over Christmas neither location had any availability and I booked my dog here instead. I was gone for three days and when I came back to pick him up he was absolutely filthy. He had recently been groomed and was clean when we dropped him off. He was so bad that I came home and immediately had to bathe him and even clip his hair because it was completely matted and in knots. He was not supposed to have contact with other dogs, and he was clearly not taken care of. I am still not sure what happened to him but he was certainly not himself. I will definitely not be using them again. Read Less

Simply the best. I wouldn't take my animals to any other vet. When the blood panel came back normal for my then-13yo greyhound who was eating constantly but quickly losing weight, they sent her blood to A&M for more a detailed work up. Because of their tenacity and care, one year later she's a happy and healthy 14yo greyhound. I find their prices to be competitive and many times I've been surprised at how low my bill has been. The staff is always friendly and helpful and everyone goes the extra mile and really cares. I've had animals my entire life and this is by far the best vet I've encountered. I've worked mainly with Dr. Effie, but also Dr. McWhorter, Dr. Bryant (excellent at feline dental surgery), and others. They ALWAYS take plenty of time to explain not only my pet's condition, but the different treatment routes and costs. When they call with test results they explain everything in detail and answer all of my questions; I never feel like they're rushing to call the next patient. The parking was a little cramped but it was fine and I found parking immediately. I got checked in and was taken to a waiting area. It's very large and has a kitchenette with cabinets and countertop. They have coffee and soft drinks. The veterinarian was polite and a great listener. My dog was prescribed some antibiotics, itch prevention pills, a liquid gel to pour in his ears and a spray to apply directly to the hot spots. They also gave him an expired vaccination and tested him for heartworms. I also purchased flea/ tick medicine. The bill was HIGH. $330. Was not expecting that. Oh well. I had to take him. Disclaimer: This review is only for guinea pig visits. It's absolutely possible that the Cityvet vet we saw is great with other animals. The front desk people were pleasant and helpful, and the people who helped us to our room were friendly. The main problem was that I got the feeling the vet we saw didn't have much experience with guinea pigs but saw us anyways. During our visit, he got a second opinion from another in-house vet, and sent us home with metacam (a pain reliever). After doing everything he recommended, our guinea pig didn't improve, so we took him to a different vet (not at Cityvet). Our new vet found an infection and had additional information and recommendations about our guinea pig's health. It's absolutely possible that our pig developed new problems during the week between our Cityvet visit and the new vet visit. But then there were the details I noticed - the way this new vet talked to, held, and described our guinea pig and his behaviors. She seemed more observant and genuinely caring. Comparing my two experiences, I would not recommend Citvet for guinea pigs. Read Less

I've had two older dogs with various needs over the years. I had a vet I was happy with, but he retired and sold his practice a few years ago. I continued going to the office with the new ownership, but the care seemed inconsistent and at times like there was more focus on trying to sell the most dog flu shots. When I went looking for a new vet, I looked to City Vet Oak Lawn. They are conveniently located near me and I had heard good things from friends, so I decided to give them a try next time I needed to see the vet. I'm writing this review because I've now had multiple experiences with this City Vet office located on Oak Lawn and I've seen several different veterinarians in this office. My first need for a visit was because my dog had a growth which resulted in the need for surgery. I was traveling for work the same day and the vet was great about checking in with me before the surgery, after the surgery and days later when lab results were back. They put me at ease by providing great care with an appropriate level of communication throughout the process and I felt like my dog was in great hands.Fast forward a few months and my same dog has an ear issue, also resulting in the need for a surgery. I saw a different vet in the same office and again, I felt I was in great hands before the procedure, during his stay in their care and since he has completed his full recovery.  I opted to have my dogs teeth cleaned while he was under for his ear surgery. He had some teeth issues which also prompted me to bring in my other dog for similar teeth cleaning and care.I had my second dog in for teeth cleaning because he seemed to be having trouble eating. His teeth were in need of a good cleaning (he had never had this done). Both of my dogs are "seniors" which was almost offensive to me the first time I heard it, but I have noticed my dogs slowing down in their later years.  I had blood work done so we had a good understanding on my dogs current health while he was in for his teeth cleaning. So far through all of my experiences at this City Vet, I've never felt pressure to add services unnecessarily. I haven't ever felt like they were trying to run up a bill. They've always had a two way conversation with me about the options, the cost of my options and they've been knowledgable when I've had questions.  Long story longer... one of my dogs health took a turn and I found myself at City Vet Oak Lawn again recently. I scheduled the soonest appointment that was convenient for me and saw another vet I had't previously seen with either of my two dogs. Dr Bryant was friendly, helpful and everything else anyone would want in a vet for a beloved pet. I felt like I was on a routine vet visit; I had a sick dog and I was there for medicine and care. But it was sometime in the middle of my visit, I realized this was no routine visit. It was very helpful on this day when my dog was sick that I had been in for teeth cleaning and had some blood work in his file. We had some blood work to compare to and it helped with his diagnosis. Dr Bryant was great with my dog, but she was also great with me. My dog wasn't well and she had bad news to share with me. Considering I hadn't met Dr Bryant before, I realize how great her bedside manor was as I think back. I lost my dog a few days later and it's been rough. I've thought a lot about the care my dogs have received and how the entire office staff has been to work with (for me as well as my dogs). My overwhelming admiration for the care I received sent me to read reviews and leave one of my own.I share my experiences because I am grateful for the care my dogs have received and one of them still receives ongoing. I am grateful to the staff for how caring they are and how supportive they were with me as I lost a dog. To wrap up this review I want to point out, if you read enough reviews, you will find criticism on anyone/anything. I know from personal experience this is a great place with a great staff to find care for your pet and I'm grateful I've found them. Read Less

They called us to the back promptly, and the vet treated her infection. I feel like the prices are pretty comparable to other places, and the level of care they provide is exceptional. Our pup is healthy again, and I think we have found a vet we can go to regularly. Read Less

My biggest fear about moving to a different city was finding a vet I trusted and liked. I'm ecstatic that I found CityVet. They were great with my current dog from day one and have been a big help with my most recent adoption from the shelter. Dr. Bryant and Dr. Gessel have been fantastic to interact with and they are truly concerned about the well being of both my dogs. The facility is clean and welcoming and the front desk staff is beyond positive; I almost think they're on something. A good illustration of their interest in animals would be this: Dr. Bryant had met me once when I was thinking about adopting a dog from the shelter. When I brought him to CityVet she heard my voice in the lobby and came out to meet him. I could tell by her smile and voice she was truly happy for both of us. She wasn't even the vet that did his initial assessment that day. I couldn't have lucked out more with this place. Read Less

We've brought our dog to CityVet Oaklawn many times since he has to sometimes do boarding at their DogLofts. CityVet never responds whenever I send emails with details on what all we would like to be done with our dog. I always find the writing an email for documentation purposes is always better for workers to look back on that me calling and telling one worker and they forget or don't convey the message. Three times now, our dog has stayed at the lofts and we've requested a bath, teeth brushing, and to have his hair shaved low, and we pick up our dog with none of the above. We got our dog a few days ago and they apparently gave him a bath, even though we can't tell, but yet, his hair is super long, which means they didn't shave his coat down like I asked. Whenever I send my requests in, it's normally at least 1 week in advance so that there's no issues with asking for last minute services. I'm not sure how they almost always seem to get it wrong. I sent a follow-up email asking if there was a reason why our dog didn't get his hair cut, and once again, I got absolutely no response. I've had multiple terrible customer service issues with this company and have had to ask to speak with managers.  There's far too many other competitors out there to have such incompetent employees that care nothing about customer service and getting things done correctly. I've had employees hang up the phone on me, lie, and ignore emails/phone messages regarding my dog. I'm completely displeased with how this company chooses to run its business. Read Less

The first time I took my dog to city vet was immediately after adopting him... I took the dog to CIty Vet to get a check up and his vaccination shots -they told me to come back after 2 weeks for the booster shots and to get him neutered. The day before the next appointment (2 weeks later), I received a letter and a call from City Vet telling me that the SHOTS they had given my dog 2 WEEKS EARLIER were EXPIRED!City Vet went on by telling me that they needed to be re-injected! (BTW, the tone of their announcement through it all was as if it was something that happens all the time... "oh yeah, we'll just give him the shots again.. and their is no harm")The absurd part of their little script was to let me know that I wouldn't have to pay for the new set of shots!! WOW WOW... I was so revealed and thankful that I am not dropping another $400 for City Vet's mistake... They had no idea - I was so happy that I screamed at them that they are lucky I am not suing them! At the very least, the shots make the dog feel sleepy and dizzy and sore... Luckily he didn't die from it.. because guess what? The expiration date is there for a reason... I hope Dr. Cannon drinks a bottle of Milk that's been opened and sitting in the kitchen for a year and see how he takes it!Worst of all was that it to them 2 weeks to find out the mess they had caused!! The fact is that the incompetence from all ends should gives enough reasons for the Veterinary Board to shut the place down and revoke every license in that mess that they call "City Vet".No to mention the unfriendly and psychotic "Moni" who answers the phone and can't figure out how to send an email and intentionally pi**** off clients carelessly.Actually, she is helping me in sending the message about what a HORRIBLE HORRIBLE PLACE CITY VET IS and WARN PEOPLE NOT TO GO TO ANY OF THE CITY VETS IN DALLAS OR ANY OF IT"S AFFILIATED BUSINESSES! I would not recommend City Vet / Dog Lofts Oak Lawn. I 've had bad experiences there for two main reasons: 1) Poor treatment of my pet by the staff. On several occasions I picked up my pet after day care and she was in a cage. They did not raise any issue about it but when I noticed and asked they said it was because she jumped their gate. My dog is not very large and it speaks to the fact that the facilities are poor. More importantly, the fact that they didn't offer any information about my dog by proactively telling me she was locked in a cage until I noticed it was quite troubling. This, combined with the general unattentiveness of the staff, caused me to take my dog somewhere else. 2) Unacceptable financial practices. I put my credit card on file and they sporadically charged it for my visits. This was fine since I gave them the benefit of the doubt while I was going there several times a week. However, almost a year after not bringing my dog there I noticed a $40 charge on my card from The Dog Lofts. No one called to tell me they were charging my card. When I called to inquire they were quite short. She said that they'd done an audit and found that I wasn't charged for 3 days. But she said, ""don't worry, I didn't charge you the finance charges or late payment fees."" Incredible. You have my card on file yet somehow this is my fault? No apology was offered for not notifying me a year later that they were charging my card or explaining why. I would not recommend this place to anyone with there being exponentially better alternatives within 2 blocks of this place. Read Less

I have not used the veterinary services at City Vet, but I would strongly discourage anyone from using their boarding facilities. 1. Twice my reservations were lost. Rebecca, the reservation manager was kind enough to override the fact that they had no record of my reservation. 2. My dog got kennel cough even though she had been vaccinated, which I understand can happen, but has never happened at any other kennel. 3. On her second visit she returned with mucous in her eye. 4. I opted for the bath on the day of pick up, but she was dusty and shedding terribly -- something a bath usually minimizes. 5. I boarded her for five days and four nights recently and she appeared as though she had not eaten the entire time she was there -- bony! In spite of that, the bag of dog food I had left which usually lasts her three weeks was almost empty, and I had to ask them for it. 6. They lost her toy. 7. I hate to say it, but basically it was just better than her being out on the street for five days. Read Less

The front desk staff is always helpful and they are very knowledgable and when they don't know something, they have no issue asking someone else and they don't act like it's a waste of their time or that you're a burden! Vet tech didn't read my dogs file before seeing her, tried to get me pay for an annual when she was only due for 6 months vacs. When I pointed it out, the response was dismissive of "Oh yea, I guess that's right." I don't feel that they were listening to me or paying attention.

I truly cannot say enough good things about City Vet.Read Less

First timer! I took my English cocker spaniel dog to the groomers the previous week and was told by the groomer that he had a raw or hot spot under his ear.  I went to City Vet on Saturday morning.

Read Less
