I've had two older dogs with various needs over the years. I had a vet I was happy with, but he retired and sold his practice a few years ago. I continued going to the office with the new ownership, but the care seemed inconsistent and at times like there was more focus on trying to sell the most dog flu shots. When I went looking for a new vet, I looked to City Vet Oak Lawn. They are conveniently located near me and I had heard good things from friends, so I decided to give them a try next time I needed to see the vet. I'm writing this review because I've now had multiple experiences with this City Vet office located on Oak Lawn and I've seen several different veterinarians in this office. My first need for a visit was because my dog had a growth which resulted in the need for surgery. I was traveling for work the same day and the vet was great about checking in with me before the surgery, after the surgery and days later when lab results were back. They put me at ease by providing great care with an appropriate level of communication throughout the process and I felt like my dog was in great hands.Fast forward a few months and my same dog has an ear issue, also resulting in the need for a surgery. I saw a different vet in the same office and again, I felt I was in great hands before the procedure, during his stay in their care and since he has completed his full recovery. I opted to have my dogs teeth cleaned while he was under for his ear surgery. He had some teeth issues which also prompted me to bring in my other dog for similar teeth cleaning and care.I had my second dog in for teeth cleaning because he seemed to be having trouble eating. His teeth were in need of a good cleaning (he had never had this done). Both of my dogs are "seniors" which was almost offensive to me the first time I heard it, but I have noticed my dogs slowing down in their later years. I had blood work done so we had a good understanding on my dogs current health while he was in for his teeth cleaning. So far through all of my experiences at this City Vet, I've never felt pressure to add services unnecessarily. I haven't ever felt like they were trying to run up a bill. They've always had a two way conversation with me about the options, the cost of my options and they've been knowledgable when I've had questions. Long story longer... one of my dogs health took a turn and I found myself at City Vet Oak Lawn again recently. I scheduled the soonest appointment that was convenient for me and saw another vet I had't previously seen with either of my two dogs. Dr Bryant was friendly, helpful and everything else anyone would want in a vet for a beloved pet. I felt like I was on a routine vet visit; I had a sick dog and I was there for medicine and care. But it was sometime in the middle of my visit, I realized this was no routine visit. It was very helpful on this day when my dog was sick that I had been in for teeth cleaning and had some blood work in his file. We had some blood work to compare to and it helped with his diagnosis. Dr Bryant was great with my dog, but she was also great with me. My dog wasn't well and she had bad news to share with me. Considering I hadn't met Dr Bryant before, I realize how great her bedside manor was as I think back. I lost my dog a few days later and it's been rough. I've thought a lot about the care my dogs have received and how the entire office staff has been to work with (for me as well as my dogs). My overwhelming admiration for the care I received sent me to read reviews and leave one of my own.I share my experiences because I am grateful for the care my dogs have received and one of them still receives ongoing. I am grateful to the staff for how caring they are and how supportive they were with me as I lost a dog. To wrap up this review I want to point out, if you read enough reviews, you will find criticism on anyone/anything. I know from personal experience this is a great place with a great staff to find care for your pet and I'm grateful I've found them. Read Less
