My dog is the most difficult animal ever born, I am sure, but Dr. Block seems to handle her very well!   He not only cares about the immediate appointment for vaccinations, he cares about how she is doing overall.  I appreciate that!  The staff here loves her, in spite of her ear-piercing bark, and always makes her and us feel welcome.  Dr. Block is so gentle with her, and it is obvious he truly cares about animals.  Great folks! If you want excellent care for your pets, this is the vet to see. We have been seeing Dr Block for 12 years and I can honestly say, he is the best vet in Dallas. To be honest, the 5 star review after review do not do him justice. He is a true asset to the community and to veternary medicine. Anyone considering a new vet, "roy rogers" obviously has financial issues. The pricing is very fair and the care is the best you can get. I have refered five people to this vet and they ALL say what a great Dr, Dr Block is. If my dogs could read, they would bite "Roy" in the ass. Read Less

This doctor sits between a daycare and some empty building behind a Mexican meat market and not the best part of town. Now this still doesn't deter me from going to this vet but as soon as I stepped inside I was greeted by the actual veterinarian himself. This appointment was scheduled literally 20 minutes before I got there it was basically a walk in There seems like there was no staff in the building whatsoever no receptionist. Or vet techs. I didn't hear any animals either or see any animals. Also there were no other clients during my entire visit. My dog had an infection in her eye and she was also not eating. After spending money for the initial check up he recommended A $350 blood test. I said that she had had all of her shots and her blood levels were fine because they were just tested. So he goes to tell me that I should have her nails clipped which cost $25. And he gave me some basic amoxicillin. He did not do anything about the eye infection when it clearly needed treatment with some eye drop solution. Never used this vet again he cut my dogs toenails so short that she bled was careless and barely talked about what needed to be done. This is the most unprofessional veterinarian that I have ever been too. If you want to spend a bunch of money on treatment go somewhere else because this vet is a con artist Read Less

Took my Cocker Spaniel to see Dr. Block for the first time last Saturday. I was very appreciative to see Dr. Block and his assistant show genuine concern and care for my girl. She had a moderate ear infection. She was clearly uneasy and Dr. Block just let her have the run of the place until she relaxed. By the time we left, her lil' tail was wagging and I was totally educated on how to give her her ear meds to clear up and then keep the infection at bay. Good vet! Highly recommend. Read Less

We've taken our dogs and cats to Dr. Block for several years and have been nothing but happy with his services. The most important thing to us is that he is so kind and gentle with our animals and truly does care about them. I've been to vets who care, of course, but interact only with me and not with my animals. Dr. Block always spends time interacting with our animals, even if he's known them for years. He is also the only vet at Cottonwood which means there won't be the possibility of your regular vet being preoccupied and having to see a different vet whom you and your animal don't know. As others have said, the building is older, but it's clean and I feel perfectly comfortable there, so no need to take off any stars for that. His prices are comparable to most other vets I've been to (and medical care isn't cheap, folks) but he does work with you to make sure you don't pay more than you need to. He's even written us prescriptions for a human medication so we could buy the generic brand at a grocery store pharmacy for MUCH less than we would pay for the dog-specific medication. He's also been very good about calling to follow up with us on our pets after we've taken them in for treatment. Overall, Dr. Block is a kind, thorough, and available veterinarian who I trust fully with my pets' well-being. Highly recommended! Read Less

Dr. Block at Cottonwood is a great vet. After my husband and I moved to this area, we needed to find a new vet ASAP, as our cat has chronic kidney problems. I wanted to find a vet that wouldn't charge us $50 each time we came in, just for the office visit.The office is a nice little office, if a little older. And Dr. Block runs the place basically by himself - I've only seen staff there once in the 6 times my husband and I have been in. And yes, the first visit was a little on the pricey side... like $400 for x-rays and a urinalysis.But after that initial shocking price, Dr. Block's actually worked with us to make sure that we're not paying more than we need to for our cat. The cat has to go in every two weeks for a shot, so Dr. Block gave us the price for the whole bottle of medicine, instead of the usual per injection... on his price schedule, that's saving us $25 every 2 weeks. Oh, and Dr. Block gave us some options to treat TIgger's problems, something we hadn't gotten in the past. He even mentioned researching some solutions that work well for humans, and seeing if we could apply them to our cat. He really wants to go above and beyond to help Tigger, and that means a lot to us. The other thing I really love about Dr. Block is how good he is with our cat. Obviously, with chronic kidney problems, our cat is NO fan of the vet. But he's really calm for Dr. Block, and once he actually gets TO the office, he seems to be pretty relaxed, which is a rarity, as our cat has serious anxiety issues.  I'm really glad we found a vet that cares about our animals, and is willing to be flexible with his prices. My dog has an ear infection and I wanted to go to a different vet since I haven't been happy with the last few we've tried. They took us in very quickly for a walk-in and took the time to discuss my dog's history & prior treatments. The whole staff was friendly & both the vet and technician were very knowledgeable and compassionate, taking the time to make sure he was getting proper treatment and educating me on how to best deal with his chronic ear problems. I used Doc Block, for the birth of my only litter or yorkie pups. It was New Years day and he was available, via the phone. He even called back later to check on everyone. I also saw him amputate both front legs of a small bichon, who had been left out in the cold and suppossedly got in an car engine. I've moved to the Spring Valley and Coit area back in July and had to switch health provider for my 2 pups....and this place seems to have great reviewstucked behind the stop n' go on Spring Valley and Waterfall...it's a older building...big and clean inside but it's just old and could use some moderate updating (fenced in backyard can use some updating / trimming as well) they offer Vet care, dog boarding, day surgery.Dr. Block is the sole owner of the place I believe he opens 6 days a week and usually it's just him at times there are 1 ~ 2 other staff around. while he's not the cheapest around town or the most well decor office.he provided expert services to my pup (Moca 7yr old Shih Tzhu) Moca had some fungus infection to his paws we took care after about 3 weeks of creme treatment also medical shampoo.....with antibiotics as well.....and his ear infection is gone now too.I just wish that the care was a little cheaper I've spent close to $500 already if not more. for the office visit + 2 allergy shots + 3 bottles of antibiotics + 3 tubes of foot creme + 1 tiny tube of antibiotic creme....and today Moca went in for cyst (possible tumorous) removal which is day surgery I hope it's not too priceyI'd recommand this place to people who's looking for a look close by and friendly / expertised Doctor for your loved pets.solid 4 stars.....5 if update the interior + furnitures + clean up fenced in backyard area....and maybe lower the price a little? I had to find a vet's office open at 6pm one week before Christmas. I just got a new puppy and she was severly sick!! I called cottonwood animal hospital and Dr. Block answered the phone himself! The office was empty except for him because he was probably about to go home. I explained to him my emergency situtation and he stayed at the office and waited for me (and we'd never met) to come across town in rush hour traffic with my sick puppy. Not only was he detailed and thourough about my puppy's condition, but he was nice, patient, and really cared! I am so pleased to have met this amazing vet and am excited to have found a wonderful vet. I will continue to drive across town with my puppy to see him. Read Less

Dr. Block has the best service in Veterinary medicine and care around Dallas. I have been going to him for about a year and have loved each time I been in to his clinic. He is calm, cool and collected around your beloved pets. He is sympathetic to your animals needs and to your needs as well. If you have questions, he answers them in a way you will be able to understand. He is straight forward and to the point. He speaks fluent Spanish also. Dr Block has been our vet for our cats since we got them as kittens. He is incredibly knowledgeable, professional and friendly.
