I've also boarded my dog here, and they were able to take her in even though she wasn't spayed yet, which most kennels won't do. The doctors here are easy to reach on the phone during business hours to discuss results or developments. I was really hoping to like this place. It has great reviews, and it seems like many happy customers. I just didn't have the experience I was looking for. I am leaving a long time vet to find one closer to my home. I found EDVC through google, and have driven past many times. The facility is nice enough and well staffed. Which is where my issue started. Having met no one there before, a literal parade of staff and assistants came through the exam room with my year old 80 lb lab. There were 4 people that came in to ask questions, recommend procedures and shots, feed my dog treats, and again, recommend procedures and shots. I made it clear I was looking for a new vet and would like a check up and to discuss neutering pricing when I scheduled the appointment. Not one person that came in introduced themselves, including the vet (which was only distinguishable by the stethoscope around her neck) which was off-putting, but not as much as everyone wanting to feed my dog a treat. He left eating no less than 20 "cookies" and 3 bowls of cheese. I understand the need to make the dog comfortable in a new setting, but let's start with one assistant and the vet? How about making the owner comfortable with who he's talking to, and in turn give the dog some peace? I had them do the check up and shots, but will be looking elsewhere for our new vet. I cannot say enough great things about the staff at East Dallas Veterinary Clinic. We have been taking our two dogs there for the last 5 years. Every time we walk in the door, the sweet women working the front desk always know us and our dogs by name. They have always gone out of their way to be extra sweet to our dogs and they try to make them feel as comfortable and welcomed as possible.I can safely say from experience, that these are good people working there who genuinely care for the wellbeing of your pets. The doctors, the vet techs, and the front desk staff are all genuine and kind-hearted people. I recently had to put my sweet pup, Rusty down. It was one of the worst days of my life, but I knew he was in good hands at EDVC and it was very evident that everyone there cared deeply. They were all very kind, sympathetic, and understanding of the impact of our loss. I can't recommend this business enough. I wouldn't ever want to take my dogs anywhere else. Every time we've needed to come in for a check up or when he injured his leg the staff there is very friendly, helpful and solution oriented. They are able to get us in and out quickly. I take both my Golden Retrievers here.They are concerned with your pets from the smallest issue to the more serious.Autumn goes in and knows she will get belly rubs and kisses,and Gracie is the one that kisses.Dr.Ellsworth is the best! Over the decades, everyone from the vets to the receptionists have been kind, caring, and utterly professional. We have been going to EDVC for at least 20 years and would not go anywhere else. The Doctors and Staff are beyond compare, they are so caring and are very knowledgeable. The care they have given our dogs is beyond compare. The health of our dogs is their number one priority. But if the time comes, and it is time for our pets to cross to the rainbow bridge a more compassionate staff you will not find. We live at least an hour from their clinic and while there are clinics closer we would not go anywhere else as we trust the Doctors and Staff of EDVC and the drive is well worth the health of our pets. We also have started acupuncture with one of our pets, which they now offer. We had not had experience with this form of treatment, but it is working very well with one of our dogs. We also get our pets groomed from them and they do an exceptional job. So to sum up: We would not trust the health of our dogs to any other clinic. Read Less

I am so glad a friend recommended the EDVC; the staff is great and I love Dr. Holland. They have been quick to get me in for appointments, and someone has always returned my calls with questions and even follows up to make sure everyone is doing ok. Today we unfortunately had to put a pet down, and I didn't realize until I left that we kept them almost half an hour after closing time, yet they never made me feel rushed. They were so kind and supportive through the whole heart-wrenching process, and I felt that they truly cared about me and my pet. My son and I went to pick up our Darling Max yesterday for the last time. Rachel came around the corner with a hug and I thanked her for the wonderful card they sent us. We asked if there might be someone in the back who needs a home we could visit with. The girls brought Shelly, a beautiful husky. I asked if she could visit with me for a few days. Dr. Eldridge said yes. Yesterday after Shelly and I took my son back to the train to head for Denton, she and I visited a few of her potential "aunts and uncles". We have a problem child when it comes to vet visits. This is the first vet that has been able to give him all of his shots and the Bordatella up his nose without muzzling or sedating him. Extreme Disappointment. From the extremely uncaring, curt receptionist Rachel to your choice to send my daughter on a wild goose chase by not confirming that the E Vet clinic would care for her cat, your choice to send away an extremely sick animal was disgusting. I have been your customer for over 10 years with multiple dogs. I brought you many other customers, among those, my adult daughter and son's animals. Clearly, you put more stock in celebrating New Years Eve and leaving at noon than caring for a very sick animal. You have now lost 8 animals and 3 family's from your client base. It took 30 minutes to extract the tooth from the cat with one tech and one vet on duty in another vet clinic. You had 4 techs, 2 receptionists and 2 doctors in the office with Dr. Cantrelle there at one point. Apparently 30 minutes of your time is not worth the life of an animal. Excellent care! My cats have their own little Fight Club and go in for wound care fairly often. Last year I was in a cast after foot surgery and couldn't drive, and someone came to my house to pick up my cat Cacho so he could have his annual exam and vaccines, and brought him home to me afterwards. Last Thursday on Ferguson I saw someone hit a dog with their car and drive off. I stopped to help, as I know I would have wanted someone to do if one of my dogs got hit. I took to the dog to East Dallas Vet, because it was the closest one and I had been a customer of theirs in the past. I was disappointed that their first and foremost priory was getting a $500 deposit and CC information before even considering the well being of the dog. I made quick call to a friend got the dog into a rescue group with a vet in Plano that would help. So I agreed to provide some payment to stabilize her so we could take her there. Unfortunately, she passed away before they could even get all of out our CC information (I would guess within 5-7 minutes of me getting there). I was told the charges would be minimal if anything at all. I dont have a problem chipping in for care as I know it cost $ to provide, but I was appalled to receive this invoice for charges they put on our card. Including a comprehensive exam, 1 hour of oxygen, the FedEx bill to send in for rabies testing, totaling $293 for about 5 minutes of care. Very disappointing. On top of that, they would not work with me on the charges. Lesson learned. If I see a dog get injuredof course I will still help. But will go out of my way to avoid East Dallas Veterinarian clinic, and advise other to do the same. I am posting this so other good Samaritans who might try to get assistance for a hurt animal avoid going to this place. My experience in bringing an injured dog to the A and B Animal Clinic on Garland Rd a couple years ago was the exact opposite. The first priority of the well being of the dog. At East Dallas they basically were willing to stand there and do nothing and watch this dog die because I did not give them $500 when I walked in the door. And then rack up as many charges as possible for a few minutes worth of care.Read Less

Took both of my large dogs in at the same time...and I'm petite! The staff made sure to empty the lobby for me on the way in and on the way out so that my dogs would not bother anyone with their barking. They also let me pay in the examining room too. Dr. Ellsworth provides exceptional service! She and the entire staff are very kind and caring. She really loves and knows her animals. She doesn't try to over sell you nor over speak you, meaning she sees the value in educating her pet owners so that they can become better care givers. Dr. Ellsworth and her staff take time to listen to you and your pets concerns and go through great lengths to address them. I have been to many veterinary clinics in the past, but I have never experienced service like this. They called almost every other day after my pets visit to check on his progress and see if his medications were working. If my pet was not showing improvement, they made time on the schedule to have him re-evaluated, even in the middle of an ice storm! The entire office is very friendly and knowledgable. My dad is a retired veterinarian, so my standards are extremely high. I have been so impressed by Dr Cantrell and his friendly staff -- they have continued to exceed my expectations. I have a cat who required knee surgery (very unusual for a cat) last year and my husband and I were very pleased with the results. Dr. Cantrell always takes his time and is one of the most considerate and thorough persons I've ever met.
