I've brought my cat here for several years (just check-ups so far). Scheduling is easy, they treat her gently, and they've given me multiple treatment options on some of her ailments instead of trying to upsell me. Idk about price as I haven't really cross-compared. Read Less

They have a feral cat package at a good.price. my mom is elderly and can't drive out of the Park Cities so she has taken cats she trapped here, had them "fixed", and released them back. An excellent resource for that. Read Less

We've taken our dogs here for over 15 years. All the vets are good, and the owner, Dr Bratton, was top of his class and is known by other  area vets. While medical science is an imperfect art, they get it right more often than not, and provide far better "patient" interaction than a human hospital does. I always come away from a consult feeling that someone cares about my pet, that they are sincere in trying to find a solution to his/her issues, and that they are open to alternative medicine therapies as an adjunct to regular care. I see several comments about price - all veterinary care has become more expensive the last few years. I don't find their prices to be any higher than other vets in nicer neighborhoods. In any case, I'm more concerned with quality of care, than cost. Read Less

Awfully nice today. They have multiple docs so you aren't at the mercy of who is in surgery.  No appointments needed which is nice during the week.  They even cut her nails for free which cost me $25 at the nearby VCA Read Less

I like to have the same vet for my animals and so I request and call ahead of time for that vet. Unfortunately they do not honor requests and you get who ever they want you to have that day. I called three times to make sure the vet I wanted to get was there and was told to come in and then they gave me to another vet who was rushed, not personable, and since I have two dog think that maybe the dosage for their meds was not correct. One of our doggies is not doing well tonight. i was not told to expect any symptoms like being unable to walk. I do not like being put with a vet I did not request and had no confidence in her treatment. Read Less

So glad we tried Holt Veterinary Clinic! After a year of trying every remedy under the sun to get our dog to stop itching we decided to try a different vet. Dr. Coleman was thorough, compassionate and kind during our visit. She gave us a treatment plan and explained everything clearly. A week later, I am very happy to say, our dog finally had relief and had stopped itching! She gave is our happy pet back! Dr. Coleman has gone above and beyond helping us maintain our dog's health and following up with us. The staff is friendly and I love their modern facilities. I also appreciate the fact that I don't have to make an appointment but can walk in any time it's convenient. Can't say enough good things about Holt Veterinary Clinic! Read Less

I have been going to Holt for almost 10 years now and everytime I go it's little more expensive and I feel like I'm getting ripped off. It seems things have started going downhill and the prices have been going up. Just because they built a new place doesn't mean the customers need to pay for it! I don't get the warm friendly feeling I used to get when I walk in the door. I am very disappointed and most likely will not be going there anymore. I have 4 dogs and have been a long time customer so you would think they wouldn't try to rip your head off everytime you walk through the door! Read Less

My dog Max is a rescue dog with issues--kind of high strung and a bit unpredictable. The entire staff treats him with gentleness and professional expertise. They also show respect for my pocketbook, which my husband really appreciates. All of Max's health problems have been handled successfully and the cost has been reasonable. Read Less

I am currently sitting on the couch with my (not-so-little) buddy of the past 14 and a half years who would not be here if it weren't for Dr. Baxter and the great crew at Holt. When he was less than a year old, Bennie was stressed out by our move and ate several of my undergarments. Dr. Baxter went above and beyond to treat him, including watching him overnight after his surgery, and he made a full recovery. Holt Vet handled and loved a very difficult dig of mine, Maxwell, that had been asked to leave several vet clinics. They are truly dog whisperers and amazing vets. Suelyn my uncontrolled diabetic with no eyes is doing amazing because of Holt Vet. They are the very best!!! Read Less

Disgusting!!!  If I could give it a negative star review I would.  Boarded our dog here, he came back with a bloody nose and an eye infection.  It is VERY VERY dirty and reeks of urine.  Office is in terrible shape.  The techs are super sweet however. Read Less

I found Holt Vet right here on YELP. I was tired of the over-priced and poor customer service of Banfield. Holt doesn't take an appoiintments. I thought this might be a problem, but I was promised that they had a large staff to handle this. They did, and  I was seen right away. The vet assistant was nice and talked to my two dogs in a caring manor. The vet came in quickly and was very personable. We discussed some possibilities of what could be wrong with my dog. She didn't go for high dollar treatments. She was very minful of the cost. The cost was significantly lower compared to other vets. Read Less

I really loved this vet's clinic for my dog. I especially appreciated being able to drop in on weekdays and make appointments on weekends. I've gotten private calls from the vets regarding lab results, etc. I wish we still lived close enough for me to continue going there! Read Less

My parents and GRANDparents have taken their pets here for years and were always pleased with service and attention they received.  So when i was old enough to have a pet i decided to go elsewhere to a vet with a more upscale appearance and address.  YIPES, did i learn a very expensive lesson.Fancy digs=fancy prices, lots of tests and trials and errors at my expense!  Needless to say we are back at Holts with our current pets. I can show up without an appointment about 750am (they open at 8) and usually be out in about 20 minutes. Attention is detailed and diagnosis always right on the money.  if you have an afterhours emergency and are a regular patient their doctors will meet you at the clinic, not send you to one of the afterhours emergency rip off places.They are a back to basics clinic with fair prices and conservative practices.  Further, they are a teaching facility so you will frequently have a student intern following the vet and learning about the practice so explainations are very detailed. I have been taking my pomapoo Winston here for almost two years now. Their boarding is inexpensive ($16/night) which is great because my husband and I often take long trips and the cost of boarding adds up fast! The girl at the front desk always remembers us which makes me feel like I'm back in my small hometown (in this case it's a good thing!). The last time I boarded Winston she said she loved him and that he is so fun to play with. I asked her about it and apparently she goes back and plays with the dogs which makes me feel a little less guilty about leaving him.The only negative I have ever had here is once I told them to wash Winston and trim his nails before I picked him up after boarding him and although he had been washed he still stunk and I had to wash him again. Definitely not worth the money! And to top it off they cut one of his nails too short and he started bleeding. Of course I didn't notice until I got in the car and there was blood everywhere but I took him back in immediately and they bandaged him up. Maybe this isn't really that big of a deal but it made me a little upset. Other than that the place is great and I will be bringing our newest addition Louis there as well when I need someone to watch my babies! Read Less

I don't often write reviews but I'm happy to be doing one for my dog's vet, the Holt Vet Clinic in Dallas, TX. The whole staff is very friendly, I've had a chance to meet Dr. Baxter as well as each of his younger vets and they've all been helpful and patient each time. And the vet techs and front desk people have been the same people for the last couple of year, telling me they are good workers and Holt Clinic is good place to work. Dr. Baxter and the others have even called to check on my cat and dog after sick visits. I also love that they have a drop-in (no appointment needed) system during the weekdays. AND they are open half day Saturday for scheduled appointments, very convenient for working people like me. We are very happy with our vets.Read Less

My dog's name is Ollie, but we call him Lemon! When we got him from the SPCA, he came home with a cold. We took him to Holt Clinic where he was treated by Dr. Baxter with antibiotics and decongestants. Soon, he was back to normal. A few weeks later, he started itching and losing hair. So, back to Holt's where Dr. Bratton diagnosed mange (he got it from his mother as a nursing pup) and a fungal skin infection. This treatment required periodic dips and special pills to get him well. Two months passed,then one morning Ollie started vomiting,was lethargic, and soon started up with dirrhea that covered his crate and his fur. The smell was awful! This time, he had to stay at Holt's several nights on an IV because lab tests showed that his liver had been damaged. Happily, Drs. Parker and Caldwell got him well and his liver became normal again. A few months later, he developed a rash on his stomach. Now it seems that he has an allergy to his food, so we are feeding him a rabbit diet prescribed by the vets. And Ollie is barely a year old! Whenever I take him to the clinic, he always wags his tail and charges around greeting the entire staff--he knows everyone there as well as he knows us at home. Calvin, the kennel guy that did his dippings, usually shouts, ""Here comes the Lemon!"" Ollie has certainly had more than his share of problems in his young life, and I think his background before adopting him is the reason. I believe that he would be dead now if not for me (and Holt Clinic). They are as passionate and compassionate as I am! Our other dog, Fritz-the-Lab, has never been sick a day in his life, so he only has to go to Holt's once a year for his check up, and for the snacks that the staff feeds him. So I guess things have a way of balancing out. Ollie-the-Lemon is already the most expensive dog I've ever owned, but I thank God every day for his wagging tail. We recently had our two cats spayed at Holt Vet Clinic, and were told prior to the surgery that the process would cost $95 per cat. After the procedure, our bill was a page long with separate charges for Intubation, Induction, Anesthetics, Electronic Monitoring, Metacam injection, Flocillin injection, and finally a charge for the actual Hysterectomy. They also threw in a charge for Frontline, even though we had not requested it. The final bill was over $600 dollars. When we got home, we called our old veterinarian in Austin, and she told us that there is no question that we were over-charged. She said that almost all clinics will spay your cats for about $100 per cat. So, instead of complaining to Holt, I wanted to tell you our story so that you can avoid being taken advantage of by Holt Vet Clinic. Read Less

I feel blessed to have found Dr. David Baxter and Dr. Geoff Bratton at the Holt Veterinary Clinic on Yale Blvd very near to SMU. I started going there as a student at SMU and now drive over 20 miles to see bring my dogs for check-ups. Everything about Holt is fantastic - the vets, the technicians (especially Pablo!), the office is sparkling clean and the boarding facilities are great. My Dog was literally near death over the summer and I think the wisdom and technique of Dr. Baxter saved her life. (She had a spleenectomy). I can't say enough great things about this vet clinic!
