Brought our sick backyard chicken into see someone with experience. The chicken died 10 minutes into their exam. We received a long bill itemized with all sorts of treatments. They gave us no answers or any indication of whether our chicken was contagious to our other birds. Just a thanks for dropping by and paying us $100 for 10 minutes of effort. Summertree is the place we go to make sure that our pets have the best care possible. Finding a vet you can trust completely is hard, and I would recommend Summertree to anyone who has a pet. Knowing that we have Dr. Curfman in our corner when it comes to the tricky health issues of two elderly cats, as well as a young one, is incredibly reassuring and takes a lot of the worry-weight off of our shoulders. We always know that she (and the rest of the staff) will give us compassionate and well-informed advice, skilled care for our pets, and a friendly atmosphere to come to. Highly recommend them! My 20 lb mini pot belly pig got into our neighbor's back yard and was attacked by their dog. Peppa had a huge gash on the side of her tummy and there was no one in our city that I could find that would see her. We were referred to Summertree Animal & Bird Clinic from a near by veterinarian, and I'm so glad I made the call! We showed up at the office around 6:30pm and they saw her immediately. The doctor told us that they would have to sedate her in order to see how bad the wound was. It turned out that she had already started to catch a fever from the bite and the doctor could stick her whole finger inside the wound. A few stitches on the side of her belly and about 5 on the outside, my sweet pig was ready to go home with a prescription of antibiotics and some pain medication! By the time we left, it was around 9 o'clock. The clinic closed at 8pm. We never once felt rushed and the staff was VERY friendly and super informative on how I should care for her stitches. I received a follow up call from them today wondering how Peppa was recovering. They were awesome and I was so grateful for them. This was my second visit to the clinic. I can't say enough great things about Dr. Curfman and the staff. Every step had been explained in great detail as to what would be going on in the exam with my 2 Amazon Parrots. The care of the handling of them by the staff left me without the welfare of my companions. All around a wonderful experience for myself and the parrots. I recommend Summertree to everyone. I took my hamster here when he had VERY swollen testicals & was clearly in pain... They got us an appt for the same hour we called, which I was SO thankful for! And then we thout doing any expensive tests they were able to give us pain medicine & antibiotics, which did in fact take care of the problem in under a week!! On top of that they gave us a first time visitors discount, so the visit really wasn't all that much, especially considering they saved our little Frodo! Tuesday night my chinchilla started having trouble breathing. (This is the first issue I've ever had with him so I was a little overly concerned.) Based on advice given to me from the emergency animal hospital of grapevine I called on Wednesday morning to see if I could bring him in. They didn't just get me in that day, they got me in that morning and handled my feisty little guy like the professionals they are. I was given antibiotics and told he should start feeling better quickly which he has. Knowing that he is an exotic animal I didn't know how much the appointment would cost nor did I care as long as he was taken care of but I was not only absolutely amazed with the service and care but the price of the visit was completely reasonable for my "health concern checkup". I absolutely recommend this clinic for any exotic animal or typical domestic pet. All of my fears were calmed instantly and my sweet boy is getting better and better each day. I've had trouble finding good reptile vets in the past. My Peter's Banded Skink recently started having respiratory and feeding issues, so I needed to find a vet that could properly treat him, especially with the limited information that is known about this species. Dr. Brazelton was recommended to me, and after looking through the website for her practice, I decided to make an appointment. I am really pleased to say that I definitely chose the right vet to take my skink to. Dr. Brazelton and the vet tech who helped me (I apologize for forgetting your name) researched about the species the days before my appointment to prepare, and during the appointment went through routine checks and had a really informative, in-depth discussion with me about possible issues and causes, treatment, and my concerns. I'm already looking forward to my skink's follow-up appointment and would definitely recommend Dr. Brazelton for those looking for an excellent and competent reptile vet.Read Less

I have been going to Summertree since 1986! Back then it was a one vet shop and one-third the size. Dr Hayes has cared for a number of our animals, and the other vets have filled in as needed. Our dog is now 17 yrs 9 mos and is much loved by the staff. Highly recommend Summertree. Read Less

I brought one of my Indian runner ducks here for treatment of an infection. It was great to see not only the vet but also the staff was very comfortable handling and treating ducks, as not all veterinarians have this expertise, even vets that treat exotic pet birds may be flummoxed by a sick duck. The duck is now doing very well and I am very happy to know I have such a kind and competent team to help me out again in the event one of my sweet ducks is ill or injured. Read Less

The first time I came here was because my already old little mouse had developed sores. After two treatments of antibiotics they were gone and she lived happily for about four more months. When she started seeming near her time, Dr. Lovette helped her cross the rainbow bridge peacefully and painlessly. Dr. Sohner has been our veterinarian since 2003. She has helped us through minor and major issues with several generations of pets. In particular she and her staff helped us care for a singularly difficult Siamese cat as she aged and developed a variety of serious health issues. Diagnosing and treating these issues was not straightforward, and treating her was not easy. Dr. Sohner put in significant extra effort in developing a treatment plan which helped our cat live into old age in reasonably good health. Although we have primarily relied on Dr. Sohner, we have found the other Summertree veterinarians equally helpful and concerned within the care of our pets. Read Less

I definitely appreciated the assistance I received for my chicken. However, she was misdiagnosed and appeared to have a bite of some kind that caused her illness, as opposed to cancer. Additionally, I was given incorrect information regarding antibiotics to give to laying hens, received very expensive medication that I could not use in laying hens, was not able to communicate with the veterinarian beyond the initial face-to-face interaction, and could not get a timely response from the practice manager regarding a refund for the medication that I could not use. There is a great need for veterinarians who will care for poultry. I encourage this clinic to build on their existing knowledge regarding safe management of animals used for human food production and consumption. The front office staff were great! I took in my sad Yoshi (Quaker Parrot) in for a broken leg. He came back happy even though he had a splint and a cone. This place is amazing! They are very reasonable with the price and talk it over before proceeding and ending up with a large bill at the end.. Reptile friendly!!! Brought a snake in that about 5 other vets refused over the phone to see (not even venomous). I called places all day and this place took me in as soon as I could make it down there. They were very fair in price and gave me many options including cheaper ones also. They have always been very sensitive to my financial needs as well as mine and my pets feelings. Very easy to work with, get ahold of, schedule and talk to. The staff is all very nice. The veterinary care has always been great. The thing that stands out most in my memory is when I had to tell them that my guinea pig passed away so I needed to cancel his appointment and the entire staff signed a sympathy card that they sent to me.
