I have had the privilege of having pets as part of my family my entire life. White Rock Animal Hospital, both Dr. Williams and Dr. Hawthorne, have seen and cared for our pets for close to 20 years. I will promise you that you will not find a more compassionate and professional veterinarian office. We just recently had an incident with our big retriever which required major surgery. My dog received better consultation, surgical excellence, treatment, care and follow-up than most people I know who have themselves undergone surgery. The vets here are great! I love that you do not have to make an appointment for your animal, but can just show up. I believe one of the only services that requires an appointment is spaying/neutering which is done on Fridays. The vets are always willing to answer questions and truly care about the animals. I've never had to wait long to have our dog seen by them either. Plus, they both spend time at the 24 hour animal clinic off Greenville (weekend shifts) and they offer hours on Saturday. He runs tests to confirm his diagnosis and does not just order a bunch of tests because he is clueless. Since I breed yorkies, I need a vet who can support me as a breeder. He has researched a number of issues for me and helped me make sound decisions in my breeding program. Dr. Williams is also a competent veterinarian. Although she is my backup, she has delivered pups by emergency c-section and all have been healthy. She has also successfully diagnosed some unusual situations. The staff is friendly and takes the time to get to know you. They even recognize my car and pull my file before I get in the door. I recommend this clinic to any of my puppy buyers who are in the area. It's a great piece of mind to know my pups are in good hands. Read Less

DO NOT take your animals to this place!! My aunt has had two animals die while coming to this pathetic excuse for a vet. Both were very old and dying from old age but instead of helping her put the animals down they charged her an arm and a leg to run "tests" and then told her with both animals that they were fine. This happened with her cat a few years ago and now her dog. I don't have to be an expert here but he can't even walk now and he is barely breathing. Just last week this vet told my aunt her dog would be fine he was just anemic. Now when I called up there to ask how much they would charge her just to put the animal down they told me they would have to run more "tests". This place is ridiculous. This animal is 17 years old! And now he is suffering. Do not go here. Please take your animals some where else. This place just wants to charge you and make money off of you. Read Less

I was so nervous to get my dog spayed (and I mean really nervous) and I can't tell you how easy and calming they made the process for me and my pug Lucy. Our family and extended family have been taking our pets to White Rock Animal Hospital for over 35 years. Do I need to say more? Drs. Hawthorne and Williams are extremely knowledgeable and are always very helpful and compassionate towards our dogs. If a crisis does arise, they will give you plenty of options to consider. One example was when my daughter and son in law's dog ate some milk chocolate, my son in law's vet at the time recommended three days on IV with constant care. I encouraged them to get a second opinion from Dr. Hawthorne and they did. Dr. Hawthorne gave Annie a shot and some pills and within a day Annie was fine as he expected she would be. For a young couple starting out, that saved them over $1,000. They now take Annie to White Rock for check-ups. Read Less

We have used White Rock Animal Hospital since 1978 and never had any regrets. While we used to live in the area near the clinic, we now live almost 10 miles away, but still wouldn't consider letting anyone else care for our four dogs and two cats. I have only the highest opinion of the care given by the entire staff and will go to them as long as they are in business. Read Less

May be the best vets and hospital in Texas. We have known Dr. Hawthorne for 20 years. We have put the lives of our beloved furry family members into his hands without a second's hesitation. He is a brilliant doctor, a straight shooter, and he is always on the animal's side. He will do anything possible to help an animal ... and we have seen some near-miracles. His partner, Dr. Williams, has been an ace on the occasions when we've dealt with her, and seems like the partner that would be chosen by the best vet in Texas. Ditto, the staff. I wouldn't trust these people with my pet rock. Stay away from these guys if you value your pet's life. If I could give White Rock Animal Hospital a lower rating than 1 star I would. My son called them back on Jan. 30th because he needed to board his 6 month old puppy while tending to his father at the hospital in Houston for a knee replacement. When he arrived at the boarding place the owner inquired as to whether or not Bandit had been vaccinated for kennel cough. The owner had a vet across the street who would administer it for $35 if Bandit had not been vaccinated.White Rock had been administering Bandit's vaccinations so my son called them to find out. "Oh, yes," they said." Bandit was vaccinated for bordetella.."Well a few days after being boarded, Bandit started with a cough. My son called White Rock back to verify that the vaccination had been given. They checked the records again, and in fact, "No" the vaccination had not been given.White Rock charged my son, $160. $60 for an office visit. $60 for the antibiotic. And $40 for cough medicine. This could have been avoided with a $35 shot at the kennel.When My son brought this up to them, the response was absolutely no acceptance of any responsibility what so ever. They said, they weren't even sure that what Bandit had was bordetella. It could have been any other upper respiratory illness. And certainly the Vaccination MUST HAVE been given because that was standard treatment and it was probably a paperwork error. But if they had given correct information and tho $35 vaccination had been given, there would have been no need to go see White Rock at get Ripped Off for $160. Read Less

Dr Hawthorne has been our family's vet since 1986. He is not the cheapest, but you can trust this clinic to not run unnecessary tests or perform unnecessary procedures. He is very personable and his staff is helpful.  More than once, I have had to call them and ask them to fax my pets' vaccination records to a boarding facility and they have been more than willing to do so.  I can recommend this vet without hesitation.
