I originally wanted to write this review with a happy ending of my puppy returning home happy and healthy but unfortunately she passed. But the team at dripping springs animal hospital is truly the best team you could ever hope for. I know that they tried their hardest and did everything they could possibly do and I can't thank them more. We've had great care here for years. The previous senior vet left and we were worried about his replacement but he's definitely won us over. We had a very sick dog last year and had to go take her to a diagnostic specialist. They questioned Dr. Shuman's diagnosis but he turned out to be right (and he provided a lot better service too). In the end, we had to put our lab down but Dr. Shuman did it with love and sympathy like I've never seen. Last year, we rescued a dog that needed an operation. It turned out to be more complex than anticipated but it went perfectly and our dog is as good as new. I really respect the care here and would definitely recommend. Read Less

My guinea pig (James Franco) and I could not have had a better experience with Dripping Springs.From start to finish the staff was helpful in providing me with all the necessary information and paperwork for my pigs stay at critter camp. It is hard to find a place that boards exotics for long periods of time and I am glad that I was recommended this location.As for the care, James had a fantastic time during his extended stay. As any pet owner, I was worried that he would not get the attention he usually gets. But James received more than enough love from the entire staff. They even sent me pictures frequently of all the fun activities that he was partaking in. I would definitely recommend DSAH and would come back here any time! Read Less

Sadly I had to say good bye to my baby girl that I have we have had in the family for 13 years. She was have seizures and I called in and was greeted with no problems. Was just told bring her in and we are here to help you in you're time of need... they took great care of her and helped tremendously, thank you for being here for us... was a very hard time and they understood what we where going threw. When we found Dripping Springs Animal Hospital, we finally feel like our veterinarian cares as much about our pet's health as we do. These are the very best vets around, never had better service with people that are absolutely amazing!!! They really care and that means a lot. Our 12 year old Lhasa Apso Julia had been having really bad eye problems.  Her eyes were dry and crusty and just really gross.  Julia was miserable and sleeping all day, bumping into things day and night in a lot of distress.  We took her to see Dr. Shuman and he was so good with her.  Normally our dog is extra squeamish at the vet, but he did an amazing job talking to her and making her feel calm even through the eye tests she had to go through. After his exam he prescribed some drops and other alternatives for the longer term.  Within just a week her eyes were starting to clear up and she was like a brand new dog.  Even though she'll always need drops Dr. Shuman put us on the right path and we can't thank him enough for all his help.We'll definitely be bringing her back for check ups and hope to be able to see Dr. Shuman again. Through many of my show dogs and puppies over the years, parvo, dog fights and other illnesses, Dr. Hudson and the other veterinarians at the clinic have always been there for me, even meeting me at the clinic after hours. Only a phone call away in an emergency, and always providing support when I've had to put a dearly loved dog down, with hugs and truly felt feelings by all the staff. They have all worked long hours my a litter which came down with parvo, even after hours, until they found a protocol which worked, one which wasn't even known, but which I had read about and they were willing to try, saving all but one pup (the first to come down with it) in a large litter at 3 months of age. They are further supportive of my giving my own routine and puppy shots, and microchipping. They have helped me by collecting blood for research programs and even sending it off. They take wonderful xrays for OFA and blood work for OFA and unlike many vets send them off for me as well. I've been to other vets in the area, and have seen rude, unfeeling behavior for something as routine as a pregnancy sonogram before he had his own machine, and they charged a heck of a lot more. As long as we live here and as long as he is in practice, I will continue to go to Dripping Springs Animal Hospital. Read Less

Just recently I took my dog, Daisy, to DSAH because she had been struck by a car. I called, explained the situation, and asked if there were any appointments available. The receptionist was very kind, told me not to worry and to just come on in. Upon arriving, everybody seemed to be aware of the situation already and were very catering to mine and my pet's needs. Dr. Phillip came into the room immediately, examined Daisy, and very thoroughly explained his plan and my options (surgery or only splinting the leg he thought to be broken). Due to limited income, I chose option two, and left Daisy at the hospital for treatment. The technician that assisted Dr. Phillip was very kind as well and called me to let me know periodically throughout the day updates of their progress. I even had a very in depth consultation upon picking her up where they went over her x-rays, medications, and at home care. I have to say this was a great experience. The staff at DSAH are very kind, helpful, and caring. They even called the next day to check on Daisy. I will be going back from now on, and I highly recommend this clinic to everyone. Read Less

Throughout the years, we have been through many pets with him and every time, no matter the situation, he has been very caring to their needs and our feelings. Most clinics seem to be all about the money, but Dr. Hudson has always been about what our pets need. We went in for our annual exam today and met Dr. Philip. He acted very comfortable with our dog and performed a thorough exam. Dr. Philip answered our questions and offered advice, giving us options where it was appropriate. Dr. Hudson has been our vet for many years and we have seen a few of his associates come and go; Dr. Philip seems to be a good fit for DSAH. Over the years Dr. Hudson has seen all of our pets (ferret, bunny, dogs) and we could not be happier with the care he has given. We had a great experience with them at first but the second time we visited them was a totally different visit. Our first experience wasn't as crucial as the recent/second one which we will now look for another vet in the area. They didn't give us a good feeling for what they were doing nor told us what they were going to do or prescribe. Our dog has cataract and we went there to see if she was experiencing an eye infection or if they could tell us if she had an abrasion on her eye. They prescribed 6 meds and that time was critical and that we needed to take her to see an Austin Eye Specialist. They prescribed medication knowing it would affect her kidneys even after giving her the proper tests. After evaluating the situation, we decided not to do what they prescribed and talked to the vet. We ended up returning two meds that they prescribed and found out that they only reimburse us for 50% of the cost of the medications, saying that they have to pay for the costs of the employee who packages the meds, prints the labels, paying for the bottles, etc.-- That just blew us away and we will never go back to them again. We had been using this vet since we adopted our two puppies from the rescue organization. We had received a coupon with their adoption when it came time to have them spayed or neutered. Dr. H talked us out of the free service that came with adoption telling about the methods clinics use that could lead to complications and was very convincing. So instead of taking Scout and Cinder where the operation would be free we went to DS Animal Hospital. That was the last time I ever saw the male puppy alive. The Dr. called me 3 hours after the operation saying that he took full responsibility for the negligence of his staff in miss setting the anasthesia machine which robbed my male puppy ""Scout"" of oxygen to his brain causing brain damage and heart failure. They revived him after 10 minutes of CPR but he was a vegetable by this time and they doped him up with valume for the pain. Then proceded to call me so that I could make the decision to put him down or not. The Dr. said that Scout would never be the same. The reality is we had to put Scout down of course as a result...Cinder his litter mate(and sister) was lost for 3 months always looking for him arund the house. A day doesn't go by that I don't think about him and a week doesn't go by that my emotions don't get the best of me. Based on the blatant disregard for my pet during this very simple operation- I highly recommend going to a different vet in the area. We have had much success with Sunset Canyon Vet. This was a very traumatic experience for my family and I would never want anyone else to go through what we have. Read Less
