I didn't like the vet's approach. She didn't appear to respect my views, an uncomfortable visit. She said my pup was big for his age but when she found out he was raw fed, seemed like she had "concerns", then all the sudden he was "thin and could use a layer of fat on the ribs." Then she told me to be careful and conscious of cleanliness to watch out for salmonella...as if I don't cook raw meat for meals. I don't mind having the conversation if she had questions and concerns but undermining the patient seems least effective. I didn't question her any in person because some people don't deserve to be dignified with a response. I just got our vaccines done, asked whatever questions I had about our pup, but I will go back to Dr. Neely at City vet for business and care. Not an honest or upfront place. Pet boarding is one of their cash cows - They'll try to squeeze all the money they can from you with exams undisclosed previously. I called the office and spoke to the office manager, I asked in detail their requirements for pet boarding, she said they need to be current on vaccines (which my dogs are) and gave me the daily rates for boarding (they charge more than other places around) When we show up to the clinic with our two healthy pets, we showed our folder with all vaccine records current, they spring on us that they need to do an excrement exam for each of our two dogs at $100 each and another behavioral exam for $50 each. That's $300 before any boarding fees!! Keep in mind none of those fees are listed anywhere on their site as requirements at the time of this review and the office manager never said anything over the phone when I specifically asked. I tried to look at their boarding contract and the file has been removed from their website (see screenshot attached) I requested to speak to the office manager I spoken through the phone and they said she was busy even though there was nobody else in the clinic at that time. The staff seemed indifferent and uncaring. I refused the fees and walked out with my pups and took them to Posh paw resort. They had no hidden fees or exams to try to push on you and everyone was super nice! Best decision ever for pet boarding! Don't support businesses that are not honest and greedy. Have a great day! I saw very good reviews for this place and decided to go there today. I was so dissapointed. The main issue for me was when the receptionist was yelling(in front of people) at my boyfriend bcoz my boyfriend thought my new 6 week old kitten wanted to poop. Naturally he grabbed him and took him to our car; better poop inside our car than anywhere else right? The receptionist was so rude and yelled continuously 'dont let the cat poop out, dont let her'. I told her he was taking our little one to the car and she went 'oh i almost had a heartattack'. What kind of professionalism is this. Who would let their pet pee or poop outside. Also, its a vet's office, so even if my little kitten pooped or peed, so what. I wouldnt have made that lady clean it or anything. My boyfriend was ready to go talk to someone but we just left not trying to confront. The vet seemed confused about what medicines to give to our kitten too. The only reason this is not one star is bc I believe they were concerned about my dog. That being said they were more concerned with making money, I started off just calling for info, they didn't answer my question, just offered a free appointment since he had never been there. When we got there the doctor pushed on his stomach etc. And said she can't tell if anything was wrong because they needed to get behind his ribcage (he had eaten leather recently and became lethargic, vomiting and constipated) I approved them to do an x-ray which cost 185 and after that, they said the only way to know for sure is to have sugery... oh, but they could definitely offer to flush him with water through IV for just another $115, but then we still "might need to do the surgery" I asked if there was anything I could do at home or what we should do at home and they pretty much told me the only way would be to call a surgeon and have the "exploratory surgery" done... waste of time and I still don't have a definitive solution to my dogs problem... ugh. If I could leave 0 stars I would. I had just adopted a cat from the Bedford shelter and wasn't aware that she was pregnant. They did not check anything before beginning her spaying procedure. Because her two kittens were premies one didn't survive and the other was given to another family. I still have no idea why they gave away my kitten! The staff are awesome there! Took my pup to go get groomed, Taylor was awesome and did such a great job! When making an appointment (Maddie and Linda) they have the best availability that fits your schedule. Needed an emergency appointment for my pug and they were able to get me in same day. The wait is never long to be seen. Love that they care about your pups when you drop them off for care. The only place I will ever take my pups!!Read Less

We have been clients of VCA Advanced Animal for nearly 4 years. They have always been very flexible with scheduling appointments and communicative. When we recently picked up Breeze from 4 days of boarding he had obviously been receiving the kind of attention he needs. Both Dr. Mendez and Dr. Buss have provided us wholistic approaches to both Breeze and his now deceased brother Chaser. We feel that Chaser's life was easily extended 2 years by VCA Advanced Animal's careful care after both a diagnosis of diabetes and larynx paralysis. We've been bringing our two Bichon's to ACA for years. Pricey, but they knew our pets, seemed to truly care about them. We brought them in today for a grooming and flu shots at 8am, and were told that they would be done no later than 11:30 as there was a company staff meeting taking place from noon to 3pm and they would be closed. Did not hear from them at 11:30, and by noon I started getting concerned and began calling, but could only reach a recording. I then went to the facility, saw a closed sign on the door, and no cars in their employee parking lot in the rear. My pets have been sitting at their facility since 8am with no food all day. I will pick them up at 3pm today, which will be the last visit I ever make to the facility. Don't lie to me, and don't hurt my children! Read Less

We had an issue with a dog we adopted from the shelter and I felt it was an emergency. They were able to work me in within a few hours and were so nice! From the phone call to the receptionist, to the vet tech and finally the Dr, I was impressed by all. They didn't try to get me to have a lot of services done and even told me to try things before having more expensive procedures done. I got home and they emailed me for their online services, which are extensive and appreciated. We have found a new vet and I highly recommend them if you're looking for one, too.Read Less

I have no idea how this place has so many good reviews (THE WHOLE REASON I WANTED TO COME HERE). I got there 10 mins early to fill out paperwork. The dr didnt even come in until 30 mins after my scheduled time (annoying but not a deal breaker). The vet tech had come in and pet my dog. She said they would have to take her to another room to draw her blood (why idk) i just asked to be present because my dog gets uncomfortable when other people handle her and im not present. The vet comes in later asking me about the time she bit someone. (I was like WTF?!?!? my dog has NEVER bitten or nipped anyone, she yelps when she is uncomfortable). So i explained what i told the vet tech to the vet, and she proceeded to tell me about the procedure my dog would have to go through if she even nips one of them, even if it doesn't break any skin. And that its out of their hands and a city issue. (At this point they have both pet and handled my dog who this whole time has been pulling at the leash to be closer to them, wagging her tail and talking to them to get more of their attention). I am so disappointed in Advanced Animal since it became a VCA facility. I brought my GSD in there with last Thursday, telling them that we were pretty sure she had ingested some sort of plastic. I asked if they could do an X-ray. They began immediately to treat her for kennel cough. There were no indications of kennel cough, and we told them she had not been exposed to any possible sources for kennel cough. They declined doing the X-ray, and sent her home with cough pills. Over the next 24 hours, I sadly watched my dog decline. She was DYING! I brought her back to them and they sent us to an emergency facility in Carrollton. Thank God for them! They did do the X-ray, removed the plastic bead lodged in her trachea, and saved her life. They remarked about how shocked they were that Advanced Animal did not X-ray. This incompetent response to our situation cost many extra dollars, lots of unnecessary pain and suffering to our dog, and excessive stress and dismay to our family. If our doggie was a human, we'd be filing a malpractice suit! Read Less
